Problem with sync on work network.. - Networking

hi guys,
I use my own laptop on our works network. I have Activesync on the laptop and can sync my XDAIIs with the laptop no problem.
however, as all our email and calendar information is stored in "Public Folders" in Outlook (on our network somewhere I guess?) , I want to be able to sync my work diary and email across to my PDA, and back again - I only go into the office a couple of days a week, so it'd be great to effectively carry it around with me.
However - Can't do it!
I don't know a great deal about the information that might help you, but my laptop uses XP Pro SP2, and MS Office 2003, and work uses MS Exchange Server.
Sorry if this is a cr*p explanation, but if you think you can help, ask ANYTHING you want!
Thanks in advance!
Steve

BlackBerry Lotus Notes and WM5

Hi all,
I'm new on the PPC world so I’ll appreciate your help on this:
- In work we use Lotus Domino Mail Server. Outside work we can access our email through a BlackBerry Enterprise Server from a BlackBerry device.
I would like to use my Qtek 9100 instead of the BlackBerry device to access the e-mail, address book, calendar and to do list.
Is that possible?
What should I do?
Many thks,
Hi,
yes, it is possible. My MDA Vario = HTC Wizard works well with Lotus. The IT-department at my company sent me some files to put on my PDA and prepared everything for me. It's a proggie named OneBridge, and I think it's running on the basis of XTNDConnect. There are several tools which allow the sync of Lotus and WM5-PDAs, like e.g. MNotes, PDASync3.
I use mNotes 4.2.0 - but with the Personal version you need to run a Lotus Notes Client on a machine connected to your server (I run an old thinkpad in my office as a bridge into the Domino server) - then mNotes on the PDA connects to that machine.
Works great over Wifi and GPRS...
To get it to PUSH email, however, you would need mSuite (which has to sit on the server) - I believe... too expensive plus I have no access to the Domino server
Regards
Dave

Bypass Exchange Server ActiveSync on desktop?

Hi everyone. New poster here and love this forum. I've switched over from 8 years of PalmOS and Treo to the Wizard and enjoying it tremendously.
My only problem so far that I haven't been able to find an answer to is with Exchange Server sync on the desktop. I have it working flawlessly over the air via GPRS with Direct Push. However, I have an extensive amount of Notes that I constantly use that I need to sync from desktop, so I connect via USB and it hangs forever trying to synchronize Exchange Server from the USB! How do I stop this and have it only syn with Windows PC? I can get everything else fine from GPRS and don't care to sync on the desktop for Exchange.
I'm using ActiveSync 4.2 on XP for a Cingular 8125 with latest updates. Exchange sync through the desktop fails after 10-15 minutes. I just need to bypass that on the desktop and only sync wirelessly for email, contacts, and calendar. I need only task and notes desktop sync. Does anyone know how to do this? My wireless sync isn't using SSL but SMS notifications which is sufficient for me. My apologies if this has already been answered, but my search was not able to uncover an answer.

I Need Some Help Please

Hi There,
I am the proud new owner of a T Mobile Mda Vario II. So far I love it, I have gotten my email set up etc. The only problem I have is that I am a avid user of Microsoft Money 2005. Now on my PC I am running Windows Vista Home Basic edition. So when I try to install a program to my Vario which should allow me to keep track of my Microsoft Money accounts the installation tells me I have no Microsoft Money installed on my PC to Synch with. I am using the lastest release of Synch centre etc. So I don't know what the answer is. I was hoping some of you nice people on here might be able to help me out
how about some more info like what app you are trying to install what version of WMDC are you running the more info the better
It's microsoft money for the pocket pc. It ran perfectly when I had windows xp on my main pc with my other pocket pc. Since having windows home basic the program won't find the main program on the pc therefore I cannot synch my vario with the pc.
@quietgirl: WMDC = Windows Mobile Device Center. Try looking into that and re-read austinsnyc's response.

Many people have reported issues with Money for PocketPC on WM5 devices. MS only support it on Wm2003 devices, but some users say they have it working fine on WM5. Hopefully someone in that newsgroup can help you.
Thanks for the advice. just thought I would post back what i've tried. none of the ppc programs will synch properly so I tried a trial version of sbf finance I think its called. after synching it quadrupled every entry in my money program on the pc. I have opted not to bother now. but just wanted to say thanks for the advice.

sync over network impossible? (Activesync Filesync Ethernet synchronize)

Hi all,
I just bought an HTC Universal. Till now I had an old Wallaby and I thought it would be time to get up to date and join the great new future of mobile devices. Since the Xperia X1 is not on the market yet I decided to buy this Universal for the meantime. I didn't want to wait anymore.
Now I think I'll have go back to the old times
I couldn't believe it but it seems to be completely impossible to keep some files in sync without a cable these days!!!
Am I the only person on the world who wants to edit a simple Word document while I'm on the road?! Shouldnt that be the most basic mobility you would expect from such a device these days?!
Is it possible that even with the expensive evel Exchange Server you can't sync files, only contacts, calenders and appointments?!
If anybody has a solution or alternative or workaround PLEASE tell me! I was searching for days now and didn't find anything
Bluetooth is always a possibility.
1.: When I say "on the road" I'm not talking about 10 meters away from my Workstation. To walk around in a circle of ten meters is not mobility for me
2.: Bluetooth (XP)+Activesync doesn't work with Ranjus last ROM. Only with other ROMs which then don't allow to run Skype. So I had to decide: Skype or Bluetooth.
Hi there,
I think you got something wrong;
1. Exchange Active Sync is ONLY Exchange Active Sync.
So need to put your word document in an email as attachment. This is NOT Filesync. Never was ...
What you need to do is accessing your network via GPRS/UMTS ... (e.g. vpn) and browse a network share, get a document and edit it. Beware, this means an enourmous amount of data to be transfered. Be sure to have a mobile flatrate.
2. Though Bluetooth isn't an option for you, you should not complain about roms you decided to use on your own. Go and get the original rom. You can use Bluetooth AND Skype with it.
BTW: Xperia will NOT solve your problem, you definitely need vpn for what you want to do. Or, sync your files via bluetoth while in the office and edit on the road. Send back to the office by mail ...
Best regards,
Yea, use a VPN or use a FTP or use another HostingTool.
I use my own FTP with ssl, works well fine with Resco Explorer+FTP Plugin,TotalCommander Mobile,Orneta FTP,....

calendar sync dilemma - help?

I am new to synching with Windows Mobile 6 on my T-Mobile Wing, was hoping there was a solution out there for the problem I'm up against. Here is the layout of what I have :
- a T-mobile Wing with WM6 and ActiveSync
- a Windows Vista computer with Microsoft Outlook 2007 and WMDC
- a Microsoft Exchange account for work with OWA
I sync everything on the Wing and Vista/Outlook 2007 setup effortlessly with either USB or Bluetooth, that's not a problem. Currently I sync emails only from the Exchange account using Outlook Web Access through ActiveSync on the Wing. What I would really like to do is to be able to sync the calendar/tasks from my Exchange account to the Wing, but to PREVENT writing my personal appointments/reminders/tasks from Outlook up to my Exchange account. I don't think my company needs to know when I'm mowing the lawn or taking my kids to the dentist....however, I really value having that personal stuff synched up on both the Wing and Vista/Outlook. Is such one-way synching even possible? Is there another program out there besides ActiveSync that can do this? I have seen some descriptions on the web of how to make an older version of ActiveSync perform this way, but the version that I have never seemed to have the right options or tabs available.
So to sum up, the dilemma is, I'd like to sync my Exchange calendar/tasks to my Wing, but not have any calendar/task items from the Wing or the Vista PC make it back to the Exchange server. If more information is needed, I will be happy to provide any details that I can.
Thanks, great forum.
