Camera Capture Dialog Application - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Hi,
I have implemented capturing an image from a HTC 8310. When the CameraCaptureDialog is shown it presents what looks like the "Camera.exe". As a result we click the F1 softkey from code to capture the image.
The same phone from O2, does not display the same dialog. It instead displays a simpler dialog and the Softkey is RETURN. It then displays an image review screen.
What on the phone controls what dialog/Application is displayed to the user? And can it be changed in the registry? Unfortunately the original phone is not available.
Many thanks,
Lee.

Am I really that stupid? Where's the Photo Album gone?

Ok, MDA Pro newbie here, as you can see...
On the good old MDA III there was a servicable Photo Album that let you rotate pictures, and view them full screen etc. The "Pictures&Video" on the MDA Pro is wholly inadequate for that, none of them functions seem to be there, unless I missed them all...
Am I right? Is the Album somewhere else where I didn't see it? Should I get a different picture viewer altogether, and if yes, which?
THAAAANKS!
Anyone?
It's called "Pictures and Videos" and is standard with WM5

its gone.
i use resco photo viewer, bit resource hungry, but far more powerful.
...and There is NO Photo Album, Caller ID, & Xbackup on Universal...
After having used this machine for 3 weeks now I find it really annoying that so many tried and tested things have changed for the worse, this being just the one.
Since you seem to have pictures&video then all you really need to do is learn how to use it again. The pictures&video app (at least on my MDA pro) can do pretty much everything you're looking from it. To rotate a picture, open it, tap menu - edit and on the editor screen tap rotate at the bottom left. To view a picture full screen select it, tap menu - "play slide show", then tap the screen and hit the pause button to stop it from moving on to the next picture. If the slideshow shot is the wrong orentation for you then you can change that in the slide show options (set for portrait mode by default but you can select landscape as the default). You can even crop your pictures in the editor or have it autocorrect for colour and exposure.
XnView
You can also use XnView. it's free and very performant.

HTC P3600 (Trinity) screen orientation

Hi all,
does anybody know if there's a way to quickly change between landscape & portrait on the Trinity - or to set up a hot key to do so?
Thanks.
Of course there is. For instance, install SPB Pocket Plus and assign Rotate Screen Left or Rotate Screen Right to one of Trinity's buttons. There are actually many applications that offer screen rotating function.
You don't need any tool. Just use the normal WM5 settings to assign new functions to key 1 (voice recording) and key 2 (camera). One of the selections is "<Rotate screen>". The assigning of "<Rotate screen>" to the "voice recording" key was one of first things I changed in the Trinity settings.
What about on the screen
...thanks for that, but I kind of like those keys for the camera and sound recording. Is there any way you can put a shortcut on the Today screen to perform the same task?
In Today screen there is by default an icon to rotate the screen!
Icon?
I can't find a default icon on the Today screen for changing screen orientation - can you tell me what it looks like and where it should be?
Thanks

Click to collapse
This is part of the HTC-plugin. It should be installed on your device if you have an unbranded Trinity by HTC. It includes a battery indicator and icons for the light settings, the comm manager and the rotation. Those four icons should be in a line somewhere on your today screen.
Exactly.
Starting from left to right I have:
Battery status - Screen orientation - Comm. Manager - Light adjustment
In particular the screen orientation icon is the one with the picture of the P3600 and the stylus pointing its screen
ah!..found it - i could have sworn the screen orientation icon was for something else. Thanks to all.

Why would I need this ?
Besides a handy torch and multi- colour flash light, my initial motivation for ScreenBuddy were to enhance personal security. There are dangerous situations where a cry for help could endanger you, so I wanted to create a program that allowed the user to use the bright screen of the X1 to attract attention, convey simple messages to people in close proximity.
Have you ever wanted to attract someone’ s attention without shouting to them ?Have you ever wanted to convey your name and phone number, to someone in the car opposite, or to someone silently in secret, in crowded dark places like clubs and offices ?
Have you ever been approached by someone you would rather not talk to, and need a polite socially acceptable excuse not to engage in conversation ?
Well with ScreenBuddy you are only one tap away… from a helpful display.
“ Better to have it, and not need it, than
need it and not have it. “

ScreenBuddy Pro
I have added full screen scrolling for text and phone number display, just click on the phone number and text when it is displayed on the main screen to enable full screen scrolling.
While messages are scrolling you can add a flash and a rather nasty alarm sound, designed to iritate and annoy, to attract maximum attention when your in trouble. Click back to take you back to the main screen.
There are also 2 new ringtone icons on the main screen which you can assign to any WAV file ringtone, when edited on your PC, simply rightclick on the icons and select Action Settings to add a new sound or song.
I am pleased with this manilla pro version.
The animation engine on the main screen is very complex, any changes can easily upset the subruotines that took me hours to perfect, save it before you make any changes
You can move the icons round, resize then, add links to photo's, new songs, change the text message on Page 3 and the Phone number on Page 4.

Does Jade have Multi Touch? Check it.

Hi everyone,
I have found a function on Jade. Could you please check it and let me know can we call this Multi Touch?
In ALBUM, while viewing an image in full screen, tap the screen at position (1), hold the finger there, and (quickly, before the pan function appears) slide at position (2). Look at the picture for details:
1. Zoom by 2 fingers:
2. Zoom by default:
Thanks
Yap.
Mine does do that but I can't say if it is multi touch...
This's is a very useful information, but I think it's not mutil touch.
Very interesting. It also works on my Jade.
In a closer technical sense it is "multi touch" because the display detects 2 touches at the same time. Definition: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multi-touch
In a common sense "multi touch" needs more and different ways of interacting with "two fingers" so it is only a rudimental implementation of the multi touch concept.
It works!!
It works for me too...
thanks @guangfu
hi
Thanks for this info i tried it and it works thanks for the same

No, Jade does not have multitouch. And Windows Mobile 6 does not support it.
The "zoom" effect is a misinterpretation.
Try this: Open the notepad and enable the handwriting option, so you can draw directly on the screen. Now do the same zoom procedure as explained in the original post.
You will see: The tap + slide will draw some kind of triangle which the ALBUM detects as a "circle" to zoom in.

Nevertheless the hardware detects that you have "two fingers on the screen".
Of course this is no real multi-touch (see my thread above) in a common sense.

listview click on row goes to next screen

Hi
I am working on android project. I have a list view screen where it displays various data fetched form web service. This list view has more than 150 rows. So i implemented pagination and its works fine (display 5 rows).
I am using simple adapter for this list view. Now i want on click on row it has to collect the data in that row and it should go to new screen. In the new screen click on back button it has to come back to the list view(old position: for eg the list view display 51 - 60 records, once i click on 56th row it has to go to new screen, when i click back button then list view has display 51 - 60 records not 1 - 10 records)
Any idea about this issue?
Thanks
mindus
How are you launching the next screen? startActivity()? Maybe try startActivityForResult()?
Hi
I am using startActivity.
I have the problem like that the list view screen has displayed 41 - 50 records. If i click on 45th record then it will show the next screen, and while clicking on the back button in the next screen then the listview screen shows the records form 1 - 10 records instead of 41- 50.
Can you please tell me how to rectify this problem?
Thanks
mindus
When you return from the activity started by the startActivity() call, the list activity will be reset by default and re-request data from the adapter. Use some means to store the state of your list, then when your activity returns, use whatever pagination scheme you have developed to signal the adapter to restore the page you were previously at. I don't know how you've implemented your adapter, so that's about all I can tell you right now.
