I'm not sure this is possible in WM5. See this thread - there is a clumsy work around given by one guy (lancekoh) quite far down the page:

thanks bro!
does wm6 fix this issue?

Sorry to return to an older topic, but nobody answered me and this bug is really annoying...
Sometimes selecting a contact and "send Sms" from its card pulls up a blank SMS form, without the receiver's number already typed in. This happens with some contacts only, but... HOW DO I FIX THIS?
TIA,
yours truly (exhausted)
Hmm... have you tried recreating the contact?
This happened to me before, when sending text messages, or even emails, it lets you just click on the space provided and puts in the contact numbers. However for SMS, use your stylus and tap on the "To:" word.
Ta da! It's actually on the manual and I've been trying to figure this thing out for a while myself. Good luck
I have tried this on my qtek and does not have this bug. Do you need to send sms this way or can you not select message\new then select to to get list of contacts - may solve your problem. If not prob a ROM problem - did a quick search cannot find any references to new qtek italian rom so suggest you go to qtek italian website to look for new rom. Or upgrade to WWE ROM
Good luck
Cutejules: I know you can use that workaround, but still the problem remains. Why only a few contacts have this bug? How can it be solved?
Meschle: I don't think there is any upgraded IT rom, but I will look about the WWE thing (which I don't know anything about, but I'm sure there are infos about somewhere in this forum)
i dont think it pulls up a blank page, the problem I noticed after a while is it pulls up a sms page and shows you half way down the page as if you have scrolled down.
the work around = scroll back up.

the number should be saved as mobile, may be you saved it as somthing els like home or work.
Karzi: nope, it's the actual "To:" field which comes up blank.
Ammar: Nope again. The "missing" numbers are correctly listed as "mobile"
This is really driving me crazy...
Hello,
I know this has been asked before without reaching any satisfying solution, but who knows... maybe someone found a magic trick lately...
I have to send a SMS message to a large number (96) of recipients. Adding them to the "To:" field just doesn't work - probably some overflow error caused by too many recipients. Does anyone have any actual solution?
Until now the best shot seemed to be "Simple SMS" (the software), but I just can't seem to config it to work with the 9100/Wizard. Maybe some other add-on software?
I'm quite desperate, as this looks like a mailing list I have to contact quite often...
Thank you in advance for your help!
you could try Microsoft outlook for contacts, and outlook express for email.
I am not sure but I think using Microsoft outlook may be easier to send to 96 people. Good luck with your replies.
have you tried O2SMSPlus?
I googled O2 SMS Plus but it looks like it is a proprietary app... is there a downloadable version out there, and does it actually do the trick?
i'm using a BA on AKU3.0, and the app posted in the following thread works. it enables you to choose from the addressbook which names to send the message to, and subsequently sends them one by one.

if it doesn't work for you, you can always uninstall it. good luck.

Already built in, you only need to type in the first few letters of your contacts in the To: field when composing new message, then click on the found numbers, then just put semi colon ";" after each recipients to add new recipients.

Hi guys! Hope eveyone had a pleasant new year's celebration.
Anyway, I was hoping that somebody could either post the link or the file of the modified 02 SMS Plus that will run on any WM5 device. I have a WM5 device but unfortunately isn't from 02 and would love to have its functionality.
I have searched this forum for HOURS and cannot seem to find it.
Cheers in advance!

What a shame, using xda 2s for year then u alighten me, now i know..... thanks!
Hi guys, I've been using cody's threaded sms for wm6 for almost a year now with no problems at all but this morning I tried to send a text message and the program wouldn't even open. I tried resets, re-installs and I even tried to look for a way to down grade back to normal sms. I am unable to receive any texts at all either, I need sms for work it's been 4 hours with no messaging and I'm in deep trouble. Any help or advice will be deeply appreciated, if this thread is a duplicate or the solution to my problem has been answered, please PM me a link to the thread and I will delete this thread.
This is 2008, man! Install a WM6.1 ROM and be done with it.
Are you sure that will fix my sms problem? Right now I'm willing to give pretty much anything a try, do you have a link to where I can download the 6.1 rom?

Geez, go read the wiki here and read a lot. http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Titan
Sorry if this is a noob question, but I've read through the wiki, faq, and tried searching for the answer but can't find it anywhere.
I'm using the stock ROM (v.1.56.405.1), and once I've read an sms I cannot mark it as 'unread' again.
If I go into the inbox and don't use the threaded view, in the menu options the 'mark as unread' option is greyed-out and I can't select it. I can't find a similar option in TouchFlo either.
Please can anyone help? Thanks in advance
Hi there,
I'm having the very same problem. Have you been able to find a solution?
Cheers,
js
Nope, no luck as of yet.
any luck? i have the same problem.
is it 3 of us only having this problem?
I have started using the 'Energy' ROM for my Touch HD, and even in this (and Topix's ROM) there's still no way to re-mark a read txt as unread that I can find. I think it must just be a limitation of the phone. The only solution will be for someone very clever to make a little program that adds the function as an extra feature
