Recently got a Cingular 8525 unlocked in US.
When I was searching for the Optus network(my network provider) via the Network setting on the phone, It only showed Telstra on the list.
I am thinking of flashing the firmware.
Just wonderring if there this is one good way of solving this question. Or are there alternatives to this?
Can I actually flash a Dopod 838 Pro firmware on it?
BTW the australian version of the phone is Jasjam. if this info helps.
I don't know why Optus wasn't showing, but I can tell you that you can indeed flash a Dopod ROM on your device. Please read the Upgrading forum and the wiki for more info.
Cingular 8525 can support ordinary GSM networks right?
Once think i know is that Telstra has the HSP...thingie.. the high speed 3G network.
Would it be possible that Cingular only recognize signals from the HSP..thingie high speed network from Telstra?
Only if it's set to do so. I've never used a Cingular ROM on my Hermes, but on other devices, I know they like to restrict things. Switching to a different ROM may be helpful in that respect, in case they have restricted that.
If you decide to flash, I would recommend the following steps:
1. Flash Hard-SPL to lessen the chance of bricking your device in the future
2. Flash the 1.38.00.10 Radio ROM (latest and greatest)
3. Flash an OS-only ROM of your choice - I would recommend a WM6 ROM because the most work is being done on those at the moment, and WM6 appears to be faster than WM5.
The wiki has links to all the available Radio and OS ROMs. All the WM6 ROMs are cooked, so look in that section. The reason I am recommending a mix-and-match approach is that it allows for the most choice as well as safety. Normal ROMs from providers flash everything - bootloader, radio, OS, and ExtROM. If the flashing fails at an inopportune moment, your device could be permanently bricked. However, when flashing different parts at different times, you lessen the chance of bricking. For example, when I was flashing the WM6 ROM, the flash process suddenly froze at 22%. But it was an OS-only upgrade, so my bootloader and radio ROM remained intact, and since I flashed the Hard-SPL bootloader earlier, I was able to simply restart the flashing process, and it completed successfully.
I hope this helps. BTW, I think you're referring to HSDPA, a high-speed download upgrade to UMTS.
i've made the CID to SUperCID using CIDhack v3.0 from pof. (Software results said it was successfully changed CID to SuperCID)
Can I lock this SuperCID status forever?
Where can i find the OS-only ROMs? I can only see available full ROMs in http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Upgrades
Is there a instruction on how to use mtty or putty? I find myself hard to follow how to enter those commands and verify certain values in bootloader. e.g. CID infomation
As for flashing the dopod rom on the cingular, you can do that. I have an Imate JasJam i bought overseas and i'm using it in the US with cingular. I've flashed 2 different cingular roms on it with no problems (other than the video call being disabled but thats not functioning in america.) My JasJam is SuperCID.
Hope this helps, as to not seeing the network you need, don't know whats causing that. Have you put the Band Selection to auto under phone settings?

As I stated earlier, the OS-only ROMs are WM6, so look under the Cooked ROMs section. Once you've made your device SuperCID it will stay SuperCID unless something goes horribly wrong and your CID gets corrupted (which wouldn't be a problem if you have Hard-SPL)

First of all. I'd like to thank all the guys replied to my message. I am very happy to announce that my Cingular 8525 is now working in Australia with Optus GSM network.
Here is the steps I had:
1) using pof's "Free HTC Hermes SIM & CID Unlocker New version v3" tool to change the CID to SuperCID
2) Because my original SPL version on the phone is 1.06. So I downloaded Cingular 1.04 firmware and upgraded via USB in bootloader mode. (I wasnt sure if i needed this step even thou I had made CID to SuperCID, but I was thinking of using Cingular 1.04 before I change it to other OS)
3) downloaded JasJam 1.04 firmware and upgraded via USB again
4) Now there is some extra options in Network Tab, most importantly there is a Band tab for user to select between GSM and WCDMA network. I then selected Optus of course...
5) Mission accomplished!
Again, Thanks guys!! thank you so much for helping me out.
Now there are several things that I am still unsure about:
1) Did I Hard-SPL the CID already using pof's "Free HTC Hermes SIM & CID Unlocker New version v3"?
2) How can I type in commands in bootloader mode to check status? via mtty or ssh? if so, which address and port number i should connect to? what User name and PW to use.
3) The Jasjam firmware I used was "I-mate English CDL__001 1.20.305.3 07/21/06 1.20.305.104 1.07.03.10 32.41.7010.02H 14955.2.3.0 2.3 1.04 107 ". According to the specs "32.41.7010.02H " I shold have HSDPA because the number ends with a "H". But I can only select between Auto, GSM and WCDMA. So where has the HSDPA gone to?

1) No. Hard-SPL is a modified bootloader flashed onto your device. It shows SPL version 1.10 Oli or the new version 2 Hard-SPL shows 1.11 Oli (I assume).
2) You must use mtty or a similar serial communications program. SSH is a completely different protocol, and has absolutely nothing to do with this. You do not need a username or password to access the Hermes through mtty.
3) HSDPA is an upgrade to UMTS. UMTS is based on WCDMA, so that is what you should choose.

when you mention serial communication, I can actually use USB connection right?
I found this info in one of the latest WM6 rom info on this forum, details as below:
------- Starts here ------------------
WM6 for Hermes LVSW Edition (2007-03-20)
(WM6 Pro Style)
IPL: 1.01
SPL: 1.09
GSM: 1.34.00.10 (very stable with my RomUpdate!!!)
OS: 3.23.0.0
Splash: Black HTC Splash (thanks, Incorrect!)
------- Ends here ------------------
Noted the SPL there is 1.09...
Does it mean if I flash this OS to my phone.. it will change my SPL from 1.04 (current) to 1.09?

It's a serial communications protocol. Besides, USB=Universal Serial Bus

Yes, the newest LVSW ROM comes with a bootloader (1.09) and a radio ROM (1.34). People are requesting an OS-only update from him because we like to have our own BL and radio ROMs. I have a feeling he'll upload one soon, if he hasn't already.
If I want to flash my 8525 with the following image:
Dopod English http://dict.leo.org/en.gif DOPOD001 1.30.707.4 08/22/06 ?? 1.20.31.10 32.52.7020.00H 14955.2.3.0 2.3 1.06 107
so..two questions (maybe stupid noobie questions):
1) will my SPL be affected after I've run Hard-SPL before flashing?
2) Do I need to run Hard-SPL everytime before I flash my phone?
I don't think you're getting what I'm saying. The SPL, as referred to in this context, is the bootloader. It is arguably the most important part of the firmware because it is the first thing that starts up and then loads the radio and OS components. Hard-SPL is a hacked bootloader made by xda-dev member Olipro, which forgoes certain security checks and allows us to flash ROMs we would not ordinarily be able to flash. Does that make sense so far?
Next, you're asking about an official ROM upgrade from Dopod. All official ROM upgrades (except for one, a German radio-only upgrade) include a bootloader, radio, OS, and ExtROM. So if you flash an official ROM, your current bootloader - be it Hard-SPL or anything else - will be overwritten.
That's why I think it's safer to flash individual updates instead of full ones, so that only the things you want to be overwritten will be overwritten and everything else will be as it was before.
If you flash that Dopod ROM, you will have SPL-1.06, radio 1.20, and their OS and ExtROM customizations. If you already have Hard-SPL installed, it will be overwritten by SPL-1.06.
Please reread this whole thread carefully before posting a response.

I just uploaded ROM version 3.17.03 ENG. My T-Mobile PW10B1 now identifies itself as a PW10"A"1 under "Settings", "Device Information".
Is this going to cause a problem?
My next step was to change from T-Mobile to AT&T, and I need to know if I will have to change the Radio Version. Currently 6.02. I know that there seems to be a lot of problems with Flashing the RSU. Do I have any choice in the matter?
hello. If it work. I you should keep it. Otherwise you have to upgrade the radio stack. It is safe but you need to follow the sreen correctly.
First if you have a laptop, It perfect(in case the Electronic power cut off)
2. upgrade the rom image only from AT&T ver 20.07 using xda tool
3. go to AT&T official site to upgrade you os 2003.(this include OS and Latest Stack.
good luck. 100 safe without any problem. I have done over 70 units.
The device report makes no difference to your phone, your phone will remain 900/1900.
Hi,
I have a new MDA from T-Mobile which I updated to the 2.26 official t-mobile upgrade. I would to back up the device to a mini-sd card from the bootloader; however, am not able to cid-unlock the device (aWizard fails during the write step), and the bootloader is giving me a security level violation error.
Is there a (safe) way to CID-Unlock the device? If not, how else can I do a full backup and guaranteed restore from a mini SD card? I apologize if this has been answered before... I tried to read through the forum however, could not find anything definitive.
Thanks
cid unlocking t-mobile mda
Hi,
I'm from the Netherlands and have exact the same problem.
Can't cid unlock my t-mobile mda.
So if there is an solution i'm interested.
This is the only solution yet: http://www.imei-check.co.uk/m3000unlock.php

Lokiwiz Issues:
Winnie:
Thanks for your response. I tried Lokiwiz. With Lokiwiz 0.3a (LokiwizMsl.bat) and that provided the SIM unlock code. However, I could not figure out a way to CID unlock with the Lokiwiz 0.3a tool. Lokiwiz 0.2b fails to CID unlock the phone. Again, I apologize if I am missing the obvious, however, what am I doing wrong?
Thanks
You're not doing anything wrong. The latest lokiwiz does not include the CID unlock feature, and the last version that does will not unlock 2.25 and above. It may not work on earlier ones either, but I know I have 2.25 and it's not working.
Re: Lokiwiz Issues:
Opppsss....I guess the poster on the link I gave you meant to be SIM Unlock not CID Unlock. I appologize. I just re-read the link and realized that. I'm sorry.
I think the only solution is to CID unlock before you upgrade to ROM 2.26. I read from some other threads as well that this upgrade does not require you to redo the CID unlock. Could anyone confirm me on this?
Thanks

I can confirm that the CID unlock is (so far...) completely permanent once done... I think, however, that you have to unlock with a 1.xx rom, not ANY 2.xx rom. In other words, I do not think that it is just 2.25 and up or just 2.26 that you can't unlock I think it is any rom that starts with a 2. If someone could confirm, it would be appreciated... I do believe that there is some sort of temporary workaround to flash a new rom without CID unlock, but I am not sure how (I am unlocked), or even where I saw that...
Hi,
Thanks for your responses: Is there a way to downgrade to an official 1.08 ROM, and then CID unlock the device, and then bump back up to a 2.26 ROM?
Thanks
i was thinkin of doin that. when i bought my mda it came with the 1.8 rom, and i upgraded it to 2.26. now i be wantin to cid unlock it.
so i was thinkin of tryin to install the 1.8 rom and cid unlock it. but the question is will the 1.8 rom install properly after 2.26 is installed
Before you attempt to downgrade from a 2.x to 1.x Rom you need to be aware of a few things.
1. If you have a G4 flash chip YOU CANNOT DOWNGRADE TO A 1.x ROM. (Search for G4, to determine this)
2. You will need to use the modified RUU package from a custom Rom which is hacked to always think your phone as Rom version 1.2 installed (again a little searching will explain better)
3. If you try this, your IPL & SPL (bootloaders) will get out of sync (one will remain 2.x). This is a dangerous situation for your phone and you just might brick it!
4. If you read up on how to "cook your own Rom" (yep search for it) you can create Roms without bootloaders which don't need your phone to be CID unlocked.

Ah ha, so there is a risk of say putting in Tmobile's oem 2.26 rom (or future oem roms) to re SIM and CID lock then.
I myself have an 8125 with ipl/1.08 : 1.08, gsm : 01.16.11, os : 1.8.11.1 and was thinking of upgrading to Tmo's 2.26.

ah well, that sounds like a massive pain in the ass... i dont have the patience for that anyways i already bought a card specifically to back up the rom in any case, and i dont doubt that the wizard community will come up with something. in the meantime, ive got no major hangups with 2.26, besides the occasional freeze

I'm posting this as a new thread because it relates to a number of issues and I didn't see any single thread that seems to cover the combination.
I just bought a T-Mobile MDA (US) and I really need to unlock, upgrade to t-mobile ROM 2.26, and then download the fix mentioned here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=38898&highlight=) to make this MDA compatible with both WLAN 802.11b and g.
I absolutely have to accomplish this within the next 5 days (before I leave to do a photo shoot in Germany) because I intend to use the phone as a modem to send large files (800+KB) to clients using the internet, and its too slow and too expensive to do this while roaming on a US SIM card!
Relevant phone specs:
T-mobile MDA (US)
IPL/SPL unknown
ROM ver 1.8.10.2WWE
ROM date 12/10/05
Radio ver 01.09.10
Protocol ver 4.0.13.20
Ext ROM ver 1.8.10.104
I have read many of the posts on this forum, especially the lokiwiz threads, and others relating to upgrading and wi-fi, and I think I am about ready to give it a try. But, I'm pretty nervous. This is my first experience with an MDA (or any PDA type device) and I’m afraid I might really screw something up then not have the use of the phone at all. Could someone please look over what I plan to do and let me know if I’m about to toast my MDA? All warnings and advice will be greatly appreciated.
STEP 1: Based on everything I've read, it appears that I need to first unlock the SIM AND CID using lokiwiz ver 0.2b before I upgrade the ROM. I may not need to unlock the CID at all, but since I’m not sure about that, and since it appears that once I upgrade the ROM to ver 2.26 the lokiwiz programs will not unlock the CID, I figure I’d better do it first.
STEP 2: Do I need to download the NewROMUpdate Utility_Wizard_NoID.exe? I’m guessing that I don’t need it to do the T-Mobile upgrade since it’s an official rom straight from the t-mobile website, but am I going to need to download this before I can do the WLAN fix?
STEP 3: Upgrade to the t-mobile ROM ver 2.26. I’m not sure if the upgrade will affect the IPL/SPL versions, but I’m assuming that if it does, it will affect them in such a way that they will both still be the same version. I’m concerned about this only because I’ve read that I should not switch to a different carrier (ie. T-Punkt or Vodofone) if not CID unlocked, and I should not change IPL or OS only, and I can only CID unlock when both the IPL and SPL are the same version. Violating any of these rules can toast my MDA??
To complicate the matter, I don't know what the current IPL/SPL version(s) is and I don't know how to find out.
STEP 4: Assuming Steps 1 - 3 go smoothly, (eternal optimist here) I’m would then download the DJVW HTC Wizard Optimizer 2.0.cab to enable the 11g wi-fi.
Now, what are the chances that I can execute all this in the next few days without toasting my MDA,, or if not toast, something more like dried bread? Could someone please help me out with this? Am I going in the right direction (i.e. unlock with v 0.2b first, then upgrade ROM to 2.26, then download wi-fi fix)? Will I need the NewROMUpdate Utility_Wizard_NoID.exe to do this?
PLEASE HELP????
i just have bought wizard, a used one, and it has already been SIM unlocked, it's a T-mobile MDA and i dont have a T-mobile SIM inside.
the thing is, i would like to upgrade to WM6, ive looked at all sticky threads, and i know the drill, but ive noticed that my IPL/SPL is 3.08.
in this READ FIRST thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=285435
says in step 17 that is the best to use this ROM 3.08. Maybe is my device already also CID unlocked, but how can i be sure? is there some app that can tell me is my Vario CID unlocked, so i dont need to go step by step to unlocked it?
please help
P.S. Sorry for my grammar, im from Croatia
If you want to know if it is cid unlocked try flashing a rom to it. If it is the rom will work if it isnt cid unlocked the RUU program will inform you that the rom was not designed for your device.
I am guessing that you have a G3 wizard if so download this
http://rapidshare.com/files/53377946/Wizard__CID___Sim_Unlocker.rar
that contains the love rom lokiwiz (all versions) and an o2 official rom WM5 extract it and try running lokiwiz that will tell you if your device is unlocked or try flashing the o2 rom if it works its cid unlocked, if it reports back it is not designed for your device its locked.
NOTE WELL. DONT TRY FLASHING THIS ON A G4!!!!!
tnx, my IPL/SPL is 3.08, so it is not G4, it's a G3
EDIT:
so, i just download any ROM, like this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=367534 and connect my phone to active sync, start .exe and wait??
EDIT2: hmmm, ive downloaded this rom, but no exe file
EDIT3: think i got is, xp_rom_update utility
ok, i was little worried about "
NOTE WELL. DONT TRY FLASHING THIS ON A G4!!!!!"
i mean, i have IPL/SPL 3.08, this is G3 right?
and does it work for you?
look post over your's
Nono01
Before flashing any rom, download the 'WST Tool' and run the 'CID Action' button to verify the CID lock/unlock status of your phone. With ipl/spl 3.08,it becomes quite difficult to downgrade and CID unlock the phone, therefore,I'll advise you to get it confirmed if your phone is already unlocked or not,ok
Cheers!
i won't try if somebody,please give ma an answer...is my vario G3 or G4...ipl/spl are 3.08
EDIT:
@ zabardast_1
where can i find this tool, and hou can i run it?

It says for my Phone G3. SPL/IPL 3.08 at all but i'm not sure about that.
Download WST 4.2 from the following link and follow the instruction in this thread :-

YES ! your phone is a G3 device with ipl/spl 3.08,The WST 4.2 tool will also verify it,ok

ok, i have pushed device info and it says

i have clicked Enb. RAPI and its same again, even after restart

Although,it sometimes becomes quite difficult to downgrade from ipl/spl 3.08,but its possible. You can also download the official carrier's rom and flash to downgrade to first ipl/spl 2.xx and then onward flash the Button's Rom 1.05 to downgrade to ipl/spl 1.xx and apply lokiwiz02b to unlock.its better to decrease downgrade step wise, 3.08-----> 2.xx-----> 1.xx.
You'll find all the roms/tools and instruction in the above link.
Goodluck

question? can i save my ROM that i have on my vario, so if my phone error's i can just put it back again?
Hello! I want to upgrade my Qtek 9100 with the latest ROM version. I have the official Qtek ROM 2.17.7.2 WWE, IPL/SPL 2.17, Radio 02.07.10 and AKU 2.0. Where can I find the latest official Qtek ROM?
How does the IPL/SPL influence 9100's performance or stability? I have found IPL/SPL version 3.08. Can I install IPL/SPL 3.08 separately from ROM version? Can I damage the Qtek?
And the most important thing: I want the latest official AKU installed on my Qtek. Can it be installed separately from ROM? Where can I find it? If it can't be installed separately, please help me to find the latest official Qtek 9100 ROM packed with the latest official AKU version.
One more question: Is the radio version a good one? Is there a better version? Can this be installed separately?
I think that is best for PDA that AKU, IPL/SPL and radio to be installed with ROM, not separately. Is that true?
Thank you very much!
Look at you men!!!
are you insane?
Jajajaj read men!
but as I am very good person I will tell you where you need to read ok?
First!!!!

So i think you were found the 3.08 is good but is not recomended yet.... ok.
Second!!!!
How does the IPL/SPL influence 9100's performance or stability?
Click to collapse
It don't influence in nothing my men! nothing... why... because AKU (Actualization Kit Update) was just for wm5 ok? its like you wanna see if XP SP3 works well with your new Windows Vista Ultimate edition...
But you need to read the tutorial first to know how to downgrade first to1.01 then unlock, then upgrade to 2.XX not 3.08 ok?, then to a new WM6.1 rom ok...
Third!!!!
I have found IPL/SPL version 3.08. Can I install IPL/SPL 3.08 separately from ROM version?
Click to collapse
Ok you found the 3.08... yes you can but is more important ask... what chipset do you have? G3 or G4? please provide us with this info first... i saw you have 2.12. bal bla bla so is a G3 but confirm cause some people said I have IPL SPL 2.17 and NOT they have 2.17.0001 (G4) and they has a bricked phone... so the only way to upgrade or change the IPL or SPL is flashing an Original ROM maded by your carrier and for your chipset ok? well... so the answer for this question is NO men!
Fourth!!!!
Can I damage the Qtek?
Click to collapse
Yes the IPL and SPL changing system is the problem for all thats why people bricks their phones so please dont use it cause it wont lets you perform speed or something ok? AKU's was History Now! the world of WinMobile rules the 6.1 with .Net compact 3.5
Fifth!!!!
Can it be installed separately from ROM? Where can I find it? If it can't be installed separately, please help me to find the latest official Qtek 9100 ROM packed with the latest official AKU version.

No is not the most impoprtant question is the same but all in one hahahaha
No you cant upgrade separately... aku is history so dont try to upgrade stay in Aku 2.XX after your unlock process ofcourse and read a lot men you need to read a lot!
Oh sorry i forget something... you have the last the 3.08 AKU 3 (3.08)
The AKU2 comes with A2DP stereo sound bluetooth via Headsets
The AKU3 comes with A2DP and Direct Push tecnologies... so... they never works in WM6 or 6.1 why? cause it already have it by default....
Hope it answers all your question and please men I cant tell you where to go if goes to G3 tutorial for unlock or G4 hardSPL cause you dont have read to fill your signature with your info so...
Be cool men and Good luck we are here to support!!!!
No, I haven't found 3.08 ROM. It's only IPL/SPL 3.08. I have found T-Mobile 2.26 and I don't know if it's good or not. Does T-Mobile ROM differs from Qtek ROM? Thanks!
So...
So... what do you mean with this...
I have found IPL/SPL version 3.08. Can I install IPL/SPL 3.08 separately from ROM version?

The IPL and SPL cant be found separately men!
where is the one you found post the link please...
I have found T-Mobile 2.26 and I don't know if it's good or not. Does T-Mobile ROM differs from Qtek ROM?

Men!!!
With the Original ROM T-mobile 2.26 you will have the 2.26 IPL and SPL...
And with the Original ROM T-mobile 3.08 you will have the 3.08 IPL and SPL...
This components arent separately.... Never!
It diffiers from Qtek in many things like... some apps... Splash screens.... Configurations... and many little things.
Here all recomends to Use the T-mobile Rom 2.26 to Upgrade after the unlock process cause is the best Original BASE rom ( is the same but is highly recomended that after unlocks the CID and SIM use the IPL and SPL 2.26)
I have found the 3.08 IPL/SPL in the unlocking thread...I'l give you the link latter because I am in a hurry.
If I want to flash the T-mobile 2.26 over Qtek's 2.17, I have to go back to 1.05 ROM and CID unlock, or I have to install the 2.26 over 2.17?
How about with battery life in T-Mobile 2.26 when using wireless and bluetooth? When using only GSM, the battery drains fast?
Thank you very much!
I think here...
Here is your link... so
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311027
Whatever...
You are on qteks original 2.17 is it truth?
So... first of all downgrade to 1.05 (you dont need to upgrade to SPL 2.26)and do the unlocking process, if everything is ok...
second... upgrade to 2.26... then your favorite Coocked Rom by whoever you want ok?
third... everytime you want to upgrade or change your rom is highly recomended to flash first an Original ROM qtek 2.17... Tmobile 2.26 or 3.08 then your new Rom coocked ok?
You can change for every Original to Custom and viceversa now, and you dont need to downgrade again to 1.XX again cause its unlocked forever.
Hope it respeonds your doubts... The issue on many ROMs for this kind of things dont be the same on Original ROMS (I didn see issues on originals, well maybe the speed and performance), and many chefs recomends Three steps to upgrade if you experiments this batt drain issue:
1.-Before the NEW rom, Downgrade to any original
2.-Be sure your Batt is FULL I mean (100%)
3.-Let your device synchronize fully when it starts after an upgrade ( I mean dont unplug at the end of upgrade procedure)
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh
God damn ****!!!!!
Men wait a minute you are G4!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You dont need to do this unlocking proces ok?
it will be brick your device
Your device is G4!!!!!!!!!!
You need to go to G4 forum and perform the HardSPL Patch ask there....
Well my prays was listening hahahahaha
Because you write your info on your signature we avoid to brick your device
forget all this ****n thread and start again asking on G4 forum please god damn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a G3 device and I have CID unlocked my phone before, when I upgraded from Button 1.5.4.2 to Qtek 2.17 (I have followed the steps in the upgrading "manual" from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=285435). So, I think I don't need to go back to 1.05, unlock and then install 2.26. All I have to do is simply to upgrade T-Mobile 2.26 over Qtek 2.17 with RUU utility.
Now, I don't know how T-mobile 2.26 will influence my phone's settings regarding that I live in Romania and I am a Cosmote mobile network user, not T-Mobile. I have seen on a web site that you can not connect to Wi-Fi hot-spot if the hot-spot isn't from T-Mobile. Is T-Mobile ROM 2.26 restricting the phone's settings and the choice to freely connect to wireless hotspot or Cosmote GPRS and MMS, Orange EDGE and MMS. Can I add new SMS, MMS or GPRS/EDGE settings? Or they force you to use their settings and data connections?
Thank you very much!
So xtrange
The IPL and SPL you have on your signature are for a G4.
No it is recognized by the SIM Card... i mean the sms and cellphone conections but mms gprs and other things yes... you need the configurations separately...
So T-Mobile ROM will work OK with Cosmote network... But does T-Mobile ROM restricts any of the device's function? Can I use all it's function freely (wi-fi, bluetooth, irda -I'm asking you this because I have played with an HTC Prophet from T-Mobile that wasn't wi-fi enabled)? Can I install all kind of programs? Do you know anything about battery life?
In a previous post, you said that after CID Unlock it is recomended to use IPL/SPL 2.26. Can you, please, tell me why?
About G3/G4 chip: when I have verified chip version on SYSTEM-DEVICE INFO it showed M-System G3. Now It only show M-System without the G3. Don't know why...
Thank you very much for your help!

IPL/SPL: 2.17.0000
These are G3 Bootloaders,if it was 2.17.0001,then it wud have been a G4,therefore,your device is a G3 phone.nothing to worry about.
Now,you can flash any official roms to it as all the officiall roms like Qtek,t-mobile Cingular or O2 are basically the same roms provided by the Microsoft, they have the same Base Roms, but just all the vendors add up their own stuff to it.Like Splash screens,programs/applications and network/gprs settings.Apart from these ,there is no major difference in any Official rom from all the vendors.
Yes! Bootloaders(IPL/SPL)/Radio Roms can be flashed separately or within by a Rom flash.
Downgrading to IPL/SPL 1.xx is only needed if you want to CID unlock the phone for upgrading to any wm6 or wm6.1 rom,as no official wm6 rom is provided by any vendor. So its only possible to upgrade to wm6 or 6.1 latest rom through custom build roms and for that its required to get the phone CID unlocked
After getting the phone CID unlocked, its prefered to upgrade to T-mobile 2.26 coz its a proven stable base rom,but you can also upgrade to IPL/SPL 2.xx,required for upgrading to wm6 by flashing any other official Aku (Adaptation Kit Update) 2.xx rom.
Upgrading to IPL/SPL 3.08 will just give you a slightly better boot up timings, which is hardly noticeable and nothing else,so if you are at 2.xx,its more preferred.IPL/SPL 3.08 sometimes creates problems afterwards if you have to downgrade.
Its also not necessary to reflash back to official ro each time before flashing a new rom,but only recommended,to clear the Extended_Rom corruption and have a clean base,I have never reflashed any official rom before flashing any new rom,but then thats me!
Thanks men!!!
Im getting worried but... why does the Bootloader Shows the four zeros... on my device it never shows the zeros.
In 2.17.0000
I think he use the WST isnt it? not seing the bootloaders...
I have finally installed T-Mobile 3.08. It has interesting features, but I don't like the dialing pad and that when I start Internet Explorer, the phone asks if I want to connect to T-Mobile GPRS. I'm 60% with the Qtek 2.27 and 40% with T-Mobile 3.08. I'll wait to see the battery life compared with Qtek ROM and the power consumption when using wireless. I'll make a decision in weekend.
Oh, forgot to ask about WM6. Will the phone be faster or slower? What are the main differences from WM5? Is there an official WM6 ROM?
Thank you very much!
It seems that qtek's wi-fi is connecting continously, without establishing a connection. It show "connecting" all the time.
Today I have installed Qtek 2.17 ROM. I like it more than T-Mobile 3.08.
