What i'd like to do is assign more than 1 binding to the outlook button.
Exactly the same as the "voice dial" one has as standard (press for voice dial, hold for voice memo)
What i want is (on the mail/outlook/text button) press to open outlook, hold to start new text message.
Is there a reg key to change to allow this dual use?
If not (and i'd rather not add more software to map buttons) what software will allow this? Multipress isn't really an option, as pressing the button again now will cycle through the different text settings (sms, mms, e-mail etc) and put you in whatever folder you were in last (inbox, outbox etc)
EDIT:
While i would still like to be able to do this, thanx to vijay555 who's phone tools 2 lets me start a blank sms from a today screen .lnk file
The only way to do it is using Vito Button mapper.
Button mapper supports macros as well.

Have you read the thread about putting VJSMS on the softkeys, to start an sms straight from that key..
I'll have another related release that you'll hopefully like, coming soon.

Vito Button Mapper works here, but after a soft reset I get a popup message saying a certificate is missing.
Also, after installation my backlight was turned off. Went to settings and restored it and all works fine now (also after a reset... only problem is the popup)
Vito Button Mapper screwed up my softkeys.
Only in the 'Today Screen' however thats were a couple of my most used buttons were.
Now they don't work and sometimes change?
I would urge you NOT TO USE if you want to use soft keys in Today screen.
Robin
Soft keys can be configurated in the app, that is why you lost them for now...
Reconfig them:
Start -> Settings -> Buttons
Configuration drop down -> Today
Top 2 entries: Left softkey & Right softkey
Well yours must be different to mine.
When I open buttons the only choices I have are for the 5 hardware buttons.
No other choices are available????????

I'm sure the question has been asked 10,000,000 times already, but neither the search function nor a general Google are returning a solution.
I love my 8125, really I do, all except for numeric entry, which I do just often enough to hate the horizontal number arrangement.
Someone somewhere has to have written a little hack to add a numbers mode. Does anybody here happen to know who and where?
I dont have a Wizard but let me guess..
The easier way is to use your on screen keypad input. Im not sure how you are using your phone, probably landscape, but if you were to use potrait mode, the on screen keypad is really good.
That really isn't very practical in my case. I need to use the hardware buttons. I bought a Wizard because it had a real keyboard, it just isn't very good for numbers.
Is this really something that cannot be done? I guess the TyTn does it right from the pictures, but my Wizard is like three weeks old, and I really am having a very hard time entering numbers here.
You can't enter numbers on the onscreen keypad if you can't see it. The assumption made by MobileSpeak Pocket is that if you have a lot of data entry to do that you will buy a Bluetooth keyboard. I bought my Wizard so I wouldn't need to carry one.
i been tryin to find this as well.. similar to the hermes numeric layout. i would like the fact that i can answer and end phone calls by using the sliding keyboard. but that not happening on our wizard yet.
anyway i kinda hav a partial solution to what you want which i hav implemented at the moment.
you need both software vito quick contact (latest) and pqzII wizard version. first use the code menu in pqzII to map ur alt + Y U I as 1 2 3 and H J K as 4 5 6 and so on. and alt+space as return.
now to dial normal numeric number jus open up vito quick contact hold ur alt button to toggle alt button and press those buttons above and press space twice to dial.
it may not be convenient but once u get the hang of it you can even dial with your eyes close literaly. well say like when you are driving you can dial it and use bluetooth headset or handsfree speaker. i know you all gonna say voice dial is better. but i dreaded voicedial and physical button never fails me.
just hopes some one will come out with the sliding answering method.
Okay, I am a little confused here (and maybe this is just PQII and maybe it's not..)
The keyboard has a shift and a dot. In addition to these, Mobile Speak Pocket remaps hardware buttons as Control, Alt, Shift, and Tab. I wonder if these are the same buttons that PQII uses. In the event that they are, PQII will do exactly what I want sinze Alt is sticky in MSP.
Ideally though, I want to basically change the layout of the symbols when you press the dot, and just use double-dot to put my phone into the appropriate mode.
uummm i uses caps/shift for my alt button in pqzII, i dun use control. maybe thats why it didnt work. u can try the windows key or the ok key if other software remaps your cap/shift and dot button.
remember this can only work in vito quick contact as the our normal dialer cant detect those other symbols button. basically after i play around with the wizard too much =P, i found out that it is in the double dot format when you are in dialer but pressing the symbols wont work other than the normal numbers and * and #. so thats why you need vito quick contact
Hi all,
I use the BT A2DP profile to stream music through the media player and one of the 'features' that differs from the K-JAM (wizard) and is lacking in the TyTN is the ability to continue that stream even when the device is 'off' (useful for saving battery, switching off the buttons, etc.). With the TyTN whenever the device is turned off the stream also ceases. Does anybody know if there is someway of ensuring that the media player is not switched off along with the device (I'm guessing a registry setting or similar).
All help very welcome.
Cheers
I was wondering this also. My wizard was able to be "off" and still stream. ANyone got any brigjt ideas?

Have you tried just turning the screen off? PocketPlus has a utility called "Screen Toggle," which does just that.
When used in conjunction with the Button Lock (leaving only the power button active), you just might be able to solve your issue...

Yeah...what he said!
That what I do.
I really miss this feature to.
So there is no way to do it on the Hermes?
Its not particulary elegent to have to perform multiple steps to turn the screen off. it was much eaiser just to hit the off button and listen away...
I'm using VjDeviceLock wich is what you want, I think.
After you've installed it you should create a new shortcut in c:/windows/startmenu/programs/vijay555/vjdevicelock. You can copy an exiting one in this directory and edit the parameter. What you want is "-displayoff". I bound this to my Videocall-Button, cause I don't use video telephony.
If I listen to music I just have to press my Videocall-Button and VjDeviceLock turns off my screen and locks all Buttons except the power on/off one.
Also VjDeviceLock is just great to save money
If you get a sms or a call the device turns on itself. I once didn't notice this and called a random person out of my adressbook, because I had my trion in my pocket and were moving all the evening and somehow started a call.
This cannot happen again, because I started vjdevicelock with parameter "-install". Now everytime my trion turns on itself it gets automatically (re)locked.
thats a fantastic solution and it works really well!
what program are you using to remap the buttons?
Hi,
Does anyone else suffers strange key problems when using VJdevicelock;
After using -displayoff or -displaytoggle and resume back to normal, phone buttons (call/disconnect,videotalk) doesnt work anymore, it need to be softreseted before the buttos work again?
-Kha
EDIT:
just found out that when resuming from -displayoff, after pressing windows and ok softkeys, dialbuttos work again!
I'd appreciate if somebody here could advice me on how to map VjDeviceLock to VideoCall button on my TyTN (I have original TyTN ROM and the VideoCall key is functional ). I couldn't remap it using Buttons configuration utility in Settings.
as I said you have to create a Shortcut in your Startmenu. Shortcuts in Startmenu are shown as available possibilities in Start - Settings - Buttons (Perhaps it's called a bit different. I'm using a german version where it's called 'Tasten')
This is how I remapped it. I don't use a special program.
I use the device lock on today plugins.

This does not turn off your screen AND your device is sometimes getting unlocked when you receive calls or sms.

Thank you very much for your instant response. I did all you mentioned in your message and I remapped the VideoCall button (is it the Button between Buttons 4 and 5 ? ) but pressing it still doesn't activate VJDevice. Any other suggestions?
Is the device locked when you click on the shortcut?
If not: edit an existing shortcut, let's say "VJDeviceLock About.lnk". Make it point to: \Programms\vjay555\VJDeviceLock\VJDeviceLock.exe" -displayoff
It is right that there is only one "
When I open my shortcut in a text editor the content is:
Code:
64#"\Programme\vijay555\VJDeviceLock\VJDeviceLock.exe" -displayoff"
Yes. The device locks when I click on the shortcut itself but when I press VideoCall button, to which I had previously mapped the link, the Dialpad pops up.

How can you do this? Are you using a third party app? I see no way to bind anything other than 5 buttons on my device...
I bound it to "Button 5".
at one point i had an i-mate PDA2k, and i was quite used to a nice feature it had.
while on the phone, you could always get into the last calls list by pressing the D-Pad right.. you can then scroll up and down your calls list and call anyone from the history
with the Universal, this isn't possible without tapping the screen.. and that's not always easy while on the road :S
would it be possible to map d-pad right to call history?
i think we can then map d-pad left to contacts
i bet vijay555 could do it
i'd like to see a program to enable this feature made. i hope vijay555 does it.
Search for the "Smartskey". Current version 0.56. It can do that thing, and a lot of other cool stuff.
smartkeys is good and it does this job, but it's missing something very important to me, which is enabling speaker phone or muting with the d-pad while on call.
hi i remeber there was a free app that allowed to set one hardware button to have 2 functions ie short press and long press, does anyone know where the link/post is for the app? or even a app i can buy?

Wow - this aebplus is the most useful app I have found for the xperia.. definitely worth the $7 i paid for registration. i hate relying on the touchscreen since one, it is more difficult to find the buttons, and two, the touchscreen doesn't always respond immediately or accurately. navigating using the crappy windows media interface is a thing of the past and works better than inconsistent navigation of the touchflo or spb shell interfaces.
here's how i've set mine up so that i almost never have to use the touchscreen and can do everything in a few button presses
left silver key - press once - opens up messaging to get to e-mails
left silver key - press twice - opens up start menu (can get to the five or so programs stickied there or go to programs and settings with the d-pad)
left silver key - long press - opens up comm manager (not needed much since i can toggle wifi and bluetooth with the action list)
right silver key - press once - MS voice command
right silver key - press twice - open task manager to switch b/w apps
ok button - press twice - opens up action list (rotate screen, toggle bluetooth/wifi, soft reset, turn off
end button - press twice - close active application
Hello,
I also bought this usful application. But I have problems to configure the "panel" button.
I added the panel button and configure it. When I press the button, the configured action is executed, but the panel is also still executed
Any ideas?

i think you may be stuck with the panels button being unmappable right now. let's hope someone can figure it out though.
might be best to speak to the apps developers to get X1 support built in to allow the panel button remapping.
I sent Alexander an email and he answered yesterday. I got the following answer:
My understanding is, that he is not able to solve the problem because the button is processed on driver level. So we have to find a solution to disable this part of the driver which sounds not so easy to handle....
Bad news for me because I didn't use the panels...

Hello Stefan,
Thanks, it is always nice to know if you find this utility useful.
As for the “panel” button. The behaviour you describe most likely caused by “panel” button is processed on a driver level. This makes it impossible to disable original functionality by method BPlus uses.
So you could just search for another solution and it probably is in forums already. I have no X1 somewhere around to play with (unfortunately) but could suggest 2 ideas:
- Usually this “driver-level” functionality finally starts an application placed in /Windows/ folder. You could find this application (or link sometimes) and overwrite with “empty” application or link. Sometime it will require .CAB file creation due to ROM file protection.
- or default application to run on “panel” press could be specified in registry. Just search the registry for it and change to do nothing.
There are other approaches for “default” action possible but above are most simple and well-known.
Regards,
Alexander

I can't see Voice Command showing up as a possible mapping. I had it mapped to the right silver key before I installed AEBPlus but it does not show in the dropdowns of AEBPlus as an app or anything else. Have I missed something?

How're you doing with battery life? Some people notice their battery dies quicker, some don't and I unfortunately fall into the former group. It's definitely one of the most useful thing I have ever bought but had to uninstall as my battery was draining fairly quicker than usual, shame though.
You can also try my X1ButtonMapper app that can be found in this forum. It allows for assigning long press actions for softkey and volume rocker. Besides that, it allows for Ok short and long press remapping, mapping missing Fn+Key, Setting Ctrl on keyboard and some more. It is for free and I haven't had and heard about any battery drain issue.
I recommend X1ButtonMapper it extends the keyboard and other buttons. Check it out!
