Hi all!
Does anybody know where can I buy the flat cable for the Universal (and cheap if possible )
I managed to make it working for now by taking off the isolation part of the flat behind the screen and this way I changed the loose length of the cable going trough the hole to the motherboard. So it doesnt rotate on the same place as before... It was tricky and needed some hot silicone to fix the broken part of the cable inside the cabel guide in order not to move the "broken" part.... But I will need to change the cable SOON.
Help!
I know it's been a while but:-

Hi,
last week i wanted to change the case from my MDA Compact.... I find a instruction how to remove the case. Some threads attached this for example: ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=291808&highlight=case ) the file "disassembly.rar". This instruction is good made, with good pictures... thanks for the author.... BUT!!!!! i think there is one part i am not agree.. what must be improved.... in my opinion....
Problem:
look at page 15 (picture 15) at this chapter the author explain how to disconnect the board from the case. Therfore you must take away the two little screws and disconnect the flat cable from the left side (green line).... oooooohhhhhhh!!!!!! STOP!!!!!!
To disconnect the flat cable you must take away a little plastic part, what normaly get damaged, but not only this.. there are sooo thin connections, that you become big problems when you want to reconnect this again. If this tiny little connections get bent you normaly get bad connection or short circuits and your display doesn`t work anymore.
Result:
Don't disconnect the flat cable from the display!!!!!!!!!!!!
The problem is, how to take away the board from the case, to reach the display. When the 2 screws are out, the board only hangs on two parts, the (bad ) flat cable for display and a flat cable for the buttons. Now, don't disconnect the cable for display (i now, i repeat myself ) disconnect the flat cable for the buttons on the right side. This is a very easy mechanism, what is easy to disconnect and to clip again inside. Than fold down the board (page 16) on the right side and not on the left side. Now you can reach the display...
I hope this helps to people who want to change the case.. and i hope this rescue the life from some Magicians .
Greetings........
Help !
Hello my friend.
Unfortunatelly I have not read your post until I completely f... my display flat cable connector exactly as you have described.
I'm still not able to find out how to recover this.
Do you know some place where I can find this connector ?
Please help.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Eduardo
this thread must be pinned. thank you
summarized:
when removing the front case,
do not disconnect the display's flat cable, remove the buttons' flat cable instead to prevent the display from a possible damage.
@bkbone: sorry, i have no idea... i am happy tht i dont must to change this connector. I looked very carefully at the connector to see which wire make the problem. This is very difficult because they are thin like some hair. I make some photo with my digital camera with the digital zoom and saw where is the problem.
I hope this helps you to "reanimate" your Magician again.. wish u all the best...
Greetings...
P.S.: otherwise.. maybe u can ask her: http://www.mrsdewey.com )))))
Thanks thats a valuable information.........this thread should be pinned.......
u are a bit late buddy. because i have screwed up my device already.
while trying to dismantle i accidentally hit the microphone and it no longer works!
i have to use a bluetooth handsfree all the time.
is there any way i can fix the microphone back?
if i had this manual earlier, i certainly would have taken care of this stuff and not have killed my magician.
thanks
A few days ago i replaced the earpiece from my qtek 9100, While taking it apart i had trouble separating the small keyboard cable from the mainboard (not the big ribbon cable). When i wanted to put the cable back in position i noticed a small piece that had come loose from either that cable or the mainboard.
Since the keyboard isn't working anymore, i wonder where this little piece belongs to....is it the end of the keyboard cable or does it belong to the connector on the mainboard?
I would be very happy to know which spare part i have to order to make my Wizard work again, or even better....is there anyway i can fix this???
I made a picture of how my connector on the mainboard and the end of the keyboard cable look like now, and i made a pic of the little piece that came of (i put the stylus next to it show its size).
Any help would be very much appreciated!
Problem solved! I found out the part i 'broke' was the nook (right word??) of the connector that holds the cable in its place; i somehow managed to put it back in place and after some moving around with the cable it was attached properly again and the keyboard started working again.
So...this topic can be closed!
Hi,
The connector on my touch (mini usb port) has somehow gotten loose or something. Everytime I connect the phone to charge or sync......the slightest touch/movement throws it off. I know there may not be much I can do right now except maybe replace the motherboard or something. Just needed some info if tht is indeed the way to go....or is there some other solution or a fix that any of the geniuses here can help me out with
Thanks in advance
Hi... apparently this does happen quite often with this connectors but it doesn't necessarely mean that that connector is overall loose.
Try to check if this might be your case.... On some devices I've noticed that the metal strips within the connector (in the phone, top part of the connector usually) looses away from its original position, if its not broken you may be able to unbend it and restore it to the original position with a thin pin or something of that sort. This will make things work again.
To prevent this from keep happening just be carefull when you plug/unplug your cables into it. Be gentle when inserting the cable and make sure to put the pressure to insert it only when its in the exact position.
hope this helps... good luck

I thought I had this problem, but it turned out to be a faulty USB cable - I think the wires were loose where they joined the connector. Since changing the cable I've had no problems.
Hi,
I just replaced my lcd screen with a new one from ebay. When I turn on the phone, I have a white screen. After a couple of minutes, it goes black. I made sure all the cable were tight and also made sure the tape was in its proper place in the phone. I think I need to buy a flex cable, according to some other posts in the forum. Would someone please guide me in the right direction? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

Make sure they're in far enough
Some of the connectors need to be pushed in to a certain point, because the connectors have a sort of top/bottom connection going on, if it is off by .5 mm then it can connect to the wrong place on the flat cable. I noticed a little line on mine, and don't forget to push the locking mechanism down on the cable. (that is where my line... lines up)
Install Issue Please Help
I think I have fixed the issue. I bought a new flex cable from china and my phone did power on. The issue i am getting now is that the front buttons will not click in properly when the new flex cable is installed. The cable is from china, and I am not sure if it is my fault, but the original cable and the new cable are a little bit different.
I need help with broken lcd flex cable connector on motherboard!
I want to now is another connector fits for Trophy
Nothing?
Nobody knows any solution?
I had this happen on my Touch Pro2, but the cable still worked fine after inserting it. Maybe try a bit of electrical tape on top? I don't know if the facing side on the Trophy connector (the side that is broken has any data carry over or not?)
It's some pretty high level damage to do either way.
I try, but not work.
I hate to say it, your out of luck. :/ Unless you can find someone that can do awesome high level soldering and has access to the parts to replace it... that's it. HTC might repair it at a cost, since the phone isn't under warranty anymore, but you'd have to contact them and ask them if they would and what the price would be.
I buy one with broken LCD and Touchscreen and now I have a working Trophy.
Only thing is to change stock ROM with custom ROM.
