I installed the SmartDial+EtenO2ENG_2.0 dialer earlier this morning. After rebooting the phone I lost my U icon and it was replaced by an E. Anyone know why this happened and if you can get it back to U? I like the look of the dialer but hate that my U icon is missing. I'll think I am on Edge speeds when I know I should be on 3G.
Also is there a way when you uninstall the dialer to keep from doing a factory reset? I had to restore my device to a previous date once I uninstalled the the dialer.
I experienced the same problem. I was able to download dialer and I love the size/functionality but my U disappeared and only E was present, even though I am in 3G area. Also, I notice that I was no longer able to use the scroll wheel to cycle through history on phone screen but actually had to press history tab to get this information. I removed the dialer program via Remove Programs on system tab and all went back to normal but again, would definitely use this dialer if it did not 'hard code' the E. One final note is that I am using the original ROM on 8525 (1.34.502.1) and I'm not sure if that is causing the issue or not...
My 8525 is also on the orginal ROM (1.34.502.1) so maybe that is the issue. I wish mine had returned back to normal after I removed it. Instead my dialer was completely blank/white and not usable. Luckily I had a backup from the day before.

I have a really annoying problem with my Orange M3100 (hermes).
Intermitently, but almost every day now, the phone freezes up when a text message comes through, i.e. it will not switch on from standby mode.
I have to reset the phone, and I lose the text message. It can really screw my day up if it was an important text!
Does anyone else have this problem?
I'm looking for a ROM upgrade, but afaik there haven't been any releases from Orange yet. Do any of the other ROMs (i.e. HTC TyTN) have newer sections? I'm guessing it may be a radio ROM problem, but can't be sure of course.
Also hoping crossbow leaks for hermes soon, in case that sorts it out.
Let me know,
cheers,
Joe
I used to have this problem with my Universal.
I had removed the "Messaging" icon from my today screen to make space for other today plug-ins. Since the day I had put the Messaging icon back on my today screen, not once has my device frozen on receipt of a new SMS.
In case you too have removed the messaging icon from the today screen, I strongly suggest that you put it back.
Hope this helps and regards
I had a similar problem with an old MDA2 in which case it was caused by an incompatible SIM card which was old (Version 1.0)... I went to my Cell provider and they exchanged my SIM card with an upgraded one (SIM Version 3.5) and all my SMS problems went away!
My 2 cents...
Rayan
Thanks guys, but my messaging icon is still on the today screen.
Not sure about the sim card. It's the one that Orange sent me when i bought the phone, so I'm assuming it would be compatible. How can I tell what version SIM it is?
at least on mine it has V3.5 in big letters on one side of the chip...
@ Joehood
Did you manage to resolve this issue or are you having to live with it happening occasionally?
I have noticed this on my device and it occurs only occasionally but when it does it always coincides with a SMS being received and when I'm in the middle of writing one.
Do you have any 3rd party apps that may be causing this?
I have running, PhoneAlarm and PhonePad. I am currently running SPB Mobile SHell but this has happened before installing this. Also occurred in WM5 and WM6.
I figure it might be PhoneAlarm so might try living without to see if this might be the cause, but find this a very useful app.
i got a similar problem on my JASJAM, not being able to send messages right after receiving a message. used to have the phone crash after receiving a message too. i've upgraded my radio and ROM (now using Black Majik and radio ver 1.43) but the problem's still there. still hoping and looking for a cure, hehe...
Whenever I've had this problem, it's been because I'm connected to a bad wifi connection when the text message came in.
If its a good wifi connection that is working properly or if I have no wifi connection, it doesn't happen.
This is not a complaint about the "memory leak".
My mogul was acting fine for about two months now. I've done a few things like added the htc home and the better phone app. but nothing heavy. now as of this morning the phone just stops working. the screen freezes and nothing can get it to respond. I've had to hard restart the phone about a dozen times today. the only new thing I have done to the phone is paired it with a plantronics discovery 640. the freezing happens even when i have bluetooth turned off. This is very frustrating. over the course of writing this I have had the phone fail on me three times. this last time it brought me to the home page then became non responsive. What is going on? will flashing this with the dcd rom help? i'm at my wits end.
sounds like a bt issue to me although it would help if you posted your rom version.
there are several new custom roms available that deal with bt.
not to sound stupid but how do i find out my rom version?
EDIT: I've had BT functioning before with my holux BT gps unit for a month with no problems.
when i reboot my phone I get the sprint screen with this text at the bottom.
m 09 p acaaam-4070
b03 r 1.32.00
d 2.09
i hope this helps identify the rom version.

Go to settings, device information . . .
Click to collapse
thank you!
sprint rom version 2.09.651.3
i installed dcd's newest rom (1.5.7) and the 1.4 radio rom and everything is working well. looks better than before.
Current Sprint ROM Version?
Does anyone know what the current sprint mogul version is as of 12/26/2007? Mine came with 2.09.651.3 (06/14/2007).
If you goto settings, device information under version it will tell you rom version. 2.17.651.0 is the latest HTC rom... hxxp://www.america.htc.com/support/mogul/software-downloads.html
My mogul was freezing as well. I would hard reset soft reset no matter what it kept freezing after about 10 mins use. I would then have to remove the battery for about 10 mins and then I could use for about 5 mins then remove the battery then only get about 2 mins of use. I went to the Sprint service store and they said they fixed it by hard resetting (which I told them I did already) and they said that they reset it by a different method (whatever that is). Well sure enough as I left the store and got close to home it froze. I was too upset to go back to the store.
I somehow fixed it by changing the Today settings from Sprint Default to Windows default (not sure if this did it) then deactivating Activesync. I think Activesync was the problem but not sure. Either way this finally fixed it.
Hope this helps.
I updated to rom 3.35.651.2 (official rom) about a month ago. I added all my warez and tweeks. Everything was working awesome until about 5 days ago. Now it's all FOOBAR.
I have to soft reset my phone several times a day (more than 5) just to make it usable. Else it just stalls and the screen shows bits of different things thats going on.
For example, on the home screen, i try to open a txt msg, and it shows the body of the txt msg, but the top and bottom bars of the home screen. That's it. It lags so bad only a soft reset will correct it.
I'm not sure what's going on but i read a while back others were having similar issues with the update. Did we figure out if that was a bug or is it just a few unlucky people?
I run memaid to clean it up and it still doesn't help. I was using spb back up but that doesn't work on this rom either, it just hangs although it appears to create a file, and the file is then unusable (the backup).
What are your thoughts?
Just so you have a better idea of how bad it is, i just made a call using one of the spb phone suits. It's the picture calling deal. I click on the tab to show the pictures, i click on the picture and the phone dials and the call goes through.
The problem is that unlike it did before, i can't even pull up the call status screen, which would normally come up on its own. During the call, i can't even switch to it, it's stuck on the home screen.
The call ends, and all you can see is the same thing since the call started, the selected contact highlighted. And it's stuck there!
Any ideas?
thanks
Flash a DCD titan [6.1] rom.
Dunno what you did, but it seems to be the installation [update of registry] that causes the phone to become so damn slow. Custom roms are lean and mean.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking of doing but i'm a noob with the custom roms. I read up on them when I updated to the latest official rom, but i was confused
I guess i'll have to try to figure it out again.
Thanks for the reply.
So ive had this bad boy for about, a month, not the original its actually the second refurbushed ive gotten because my original phone no longer had vib function scroll wheel no longer worked

ill be running 1 app wether it be internet or sms , and itll freeze.
at first i figured hmm might be the 3rd party app i used to restore contacts (bitpim) the refurbished phone has 6.1 WM, my original phone was pre 6.1 so i figured f it ill just hard reset the phone once more and manual re input numbers as people call
nope, even without activating the bitpim my phone still keeps freezin. and its gotten worst
if the phone freezes and i soft reset itll do either of the following
freeze on the first image
freeze during the Verizon intro
freeve during the WM 6.1 page
Freeze right after it finishes loading
not even turn on at all
i just dont know what to do
so far ive done the following
hard reset 2 within a week - seoncd time without 3rd party app and still it does it
soft reset hundreds of times now...
any help would be appreciated, please
ask verizon for a new phone that one has problems if a hard reset doesnt fix them.

i decided to try again and get one more replacement...
if i have an old version of Pim back up and i wanna updated it, will the old files transfer over to the new software and restore once i do a hard reset...
i wish i had outlook on my laptop and this would make it so much easier with active sync
OK I need help and serious input since these are the things I use the most. I will give you a little history also. On 0:00 Tuesday 02/22/2011 I downloaded samsung update for EB13. I flashed the phone, and everything went well even the one-click-root-2.5.5. So with my issues appearing I researched and seen many others had issues not like mine. I called Sprint they had me do a hard reset on my phone. Still the issues are a not real bad but I had having to restart my phone 6 or 7 times a day. I even went to the store and the rep said there were no so called "quote issues with the EPIC cause he has one". I need my phone re-flash. I told him I did that. He said have a hard reset done to it. I did it the day after the I flashed it. I told him I still have issues and no one has been able to help me. He said take the phone back and get a new one then. His name is Mike at the Sprint Store on Oleander Dr Wilmington, NC. Lots of help Mike. Just admit the software is sh*t like the phone reps did on the phone. Re-flashing and a hard reset is something I already did, and removed alot of useless app, from the guide on switch apps to remove. So PLEASE someone come up with some mods or ideas to help me. PLEASE. I got no clue on this.
1. Txt messaging. After an hour of non use when trying to send a txt. The txt hangs. I tried de-activating and a signal refresh. Dont work. Only fix is re-start the phone, and re-send the txt.
2. Bluetooth. After non use for an hr Bluetooth says it is still connected. When calls comes in however it is not connected. I have to manual connect, or if no call, I have to do a signal refresh. Not even turning off bluetooth works. The Sprint rep says it is the only work around they have and know about it.
3. QIK. Ok Qik on 2.1 used do a portrait on the front camera. Now it records only as landscape, but shows as portrait. I spoke to Sprint about this also and they said it some I am going to have to deal with. I drive alot to job to job, so I dont have alot of time to play with settings.
bluetooth problems?
i have flashed the eb13 froyo onto my epic with the eb13 supernova, genocide .3a kernal and everything seems to be almost perfect except i still can not give voice commands over my bluetooth ....it will activate, say speak now and then it will disconnect before i can even give a command...if there is a fix for this please let me know...thanks
Txt messenging found
I found the same issue and a fix for it other than reboot. This was found back in July on another phone and carrier but with Android 2.2 Froyo. So this issue is with the OS its self.
A. Settings menu
B. Applications menu
C. Manage Applications
D. Messaging app
E. Force Close button

Re: Android 2.2 text message problem
Fixed it!!! In case anyone else out there is having the same problem, the way I fixed it was by going to the Settings menu from the home screen, then to the Applications menu, then to Manage Applications, then to the Running tab, then to the Messaging app with the icon that Andriod uses for the text function. Then I clicked on the Force Close button. Now it sends text message with no problem. Go figure.
Back up your data with MyBackup Root, use Odin to restore full, clean EB13, then use the Market or AppBrain to reinstall your apps, and your backup to restore only the data for those specific apps. That will solve almost all problems related to the OTA update, including yours, OP.

But he used the .exe...
I think he mightve removed something by accident...was the "apps safe to remove" thread updated for EB13?

Thanks everyone for replying with some needed input and issues of your own. I do think I can live with the messaging app since I found a temp fix for it(force close). I also believe I can live with Qik recording in landscape, even though it was not designed that way for the front camera. However I cannot live the issue of Bluetooth. I need as I will never put a touch screen phone to my ear or listen to it on speaker, like some of these dumb a$$ doing this walking around in public. I drive from job to job and it is very difficult for me to play with setting while driving. NC is becoming a handsfree cell phone state like so many others, and there is no txting while driving at all. It is a dangerous thing to do. I have read older posts from other phone that received 2.2 much earlier in the year and I believe that is OS is $hit. However 2.1 does not have Bluetooth activated command dialing.
*So for you people that are catching up, I did install from the exe and seemed to work fine and even after I rooted with a clockworkmod 2.5.1 recovery. I even did a hard reset with Sprint. I did not removed any important applications as mobile hotspot is this there. I have not upgraded to any new kernel, or rom. These issues are minor, but a major inconvenience. Bluetooth will work for awhile, but then with a call comes in after a hr of rebooting I have to connect manually after it has been paired. ""Sprint said that this was a issue known in the OS, but I am wondering if anyone has found a kernel or mod to correct this issue?""
Why not back it up and then go into cwm and clear the cache/DCache and then run the .exe without removing ANYTHING and see if your problems persist?
If they don't, then take out an .apk one at a time until you find the one that breaks your functions...
