Hi
does anyone know how to copy the txt messages that are stored in the phones memory.
I found a file call tmail.dll (i am using a T-mobile chip in a Orabge SPV m600 handset) however i am unable to copy this file as it is an executable file in ROM.
Cheers

Hi there!
I got a question:
id like to change the sound when i recieve a sms with a custom one on my o2 xda neo but when i copy a wav file to the my documents directory the file only appears in the ringtone menue for incoming calls. so my plan was to replace one of the default sound files in the windows dir wich is shown in the menue for incoming sms sound eg alarm1.wav. the problem is that those files are write protected. is the any way to get write acces to this directory? or is there an other way to change the sound for an incoming sms to a custom sound file?
1. You can use Total Commander to overwrite the write access. It works for most of the write protected files. Not sure about the WAV.
2. You can just copy your WAV into the \Windows directory. The \Windows is not write protected. Your WAV file should shown in your SMS noti sound after you copied it into \Windows
thank you!!! your second advice worked!

Hi, can anyone help me with a program to save the sms messages from my Exec to my PC?
Thanks, Tim
try jeyo mobile extender
www.jeyo.com
SMS Export
If txt format is enough for you , you can also try my SMS Export program.
It's a very basic, quickly written program
usage:
-----------
- unzip SMSExportENG.zip
- copy SMS Export.exe to Universal and run from there
- After running you will find received.txt and sent.txt in SMS Export.exe 's directory
Simple txt format.

where do you copy this file, in windows directory?
You can copy SMS Export.exe to anywhere on Universal.
After you start the program, it will make received.txt and sent.txt in the same directory where SMS Export.exe resides.
I usually start SMS Export.exe from a Storage Card directory.
One thing about the program:
It always writes all of the inbox and sent sms to txts.
So you have to delete received.txt and sent.txt before program starting.
No new SMS check is implemented in the program.
Maybe I will add some things when I have time ..

I accidentally deleted the 'canned text' file on my M5000. I think it's used in email templates but have never seemed to have needed it. Can anyone please email a copy to me, along with which directory it was in, so I can put it back?
Canned text file
Problem solved. A second copy of the canned text.txt file existed in the Windows directory. I was able to copy and paste it into the my documents/aucontent directory which is where I accidentally deleted it. A similar (but different) file exists on pther SPV models in both directories. In the M700 it is called 'cannedtext_0409.bin'.
Pls help me people,
Ok I successfully upgraded my htc wizard 200's rom to a windows mobile 6.5 rom.
Unfortunately for me, i forgot to backup my phone sms messages before doing the upgrade and now they are lost.
The only messages i see are the ones saved on my sim card. which is roughly 20kb altogether.
However, i used file explorer to locate my cemail.vol file and it is almost 300kb in size.
I am assuming this cemail.vol file contains all the text messages I had before doing the rom upgrade.
and, I know the cemail.vol file holds sms hisory etc.
My question is:
How do i recover my lost sms messages from my cemail.vol file?
Pls. help and thank you in advance.
