I have a Siemens SX56, locked to AT&T.
I downloaded the new 1.1 ROM, (Jeff's courtesy)
and began the upgrade.
It started, My SX56 said "Upgrading It will take about 5 minutes...."
Then,
I got an error message on my computer about com ports not being available, it lost the active sync connection, and now my SX56 is hung on the same message: "Upgrading It will take about 5 minutes....."
Of course, I'm unable to connect back.
Any suggestions?
I'm trying to be able to use it with T-Mobile.
I was unable to get any results by pushing the hard/battery resets.
Thanks!
"COM ports not being available"... Are you using ActiveSync via serial cable or cradle?
If you really cannot connect anymore, I guess you have to use an SD-card and the bootloader method to get back to a working state. But do try to reset the device and restart Programme A., it may just pick up again. I've seen that happen here once.
Try doing a soft reset then put it back in the cradle, the upgrade should restart automatically.

Hi Alex,
The same thing happend to me.Could you solve this problem?
If yes,can you pls.tell me: [email protected]
Brgds
rats
Were or are you using a USB hub? If so that may be your problem. The SD Card method works very well and very reliably. No comms outside of the device. I found many times whenn trying to do file xfers to the XDA that for no reason in the middle of transferring a file the connection would be lost.
I haven't had this problem with 2003 and AS 3.7.
USB Problem
Hi Alex and Rat,
i got same problem also, after step 4 my XDA screen become white and hang, if you already solve this problem please send me how to fix it this problem to [email protected]. Do you know how to install wallaby bootloader also.
Can anyone help tried to upgrade my XDA II and device got disconnected from cradle, when powering up just displays (serial v1.06) and won’t continue to boot.???
Put it back in the cradle, it should display usb on the xda 2, just start the upgrade again.
Ta for your reply HOWEVER!!
The computer can not detect the XDA and is showing un known USB device?
Any more suggestions?
If the PDA screen shows "Serial 1.06", try to put in cradle. Is the screen changed to "USB 1.06"?
If so, kill ActiveSync (wcescomm.exe) and try to run update again...

Model ID Error
I having the same problem, my error message is MODEL ID Error Message 100. My mobile is Qtek 2020. XDA II
Hi all, Hopefully some wise person can assist me.
I downloaded a ROM update for my XDA11i from this site :Alpine_Ext-1.11.162_Radio-1.04_O2stuffstripped_Camera_Fixed which was highlighted for a Alpine. However on running the update you get a picture of a MDA and a message "The ROM upgrade utility does not design for your device. Please get proper ROM upgrade utility and try again"
Unfortunatly my XDA11i is now stuck on a blank screen with Serial V1.01 and is not recognised by activsync or My computer. However in the cradle the screen shows USB V1.01
I have tried installing the official O2 ROM update: AP_O2UK_11100_169_10000_ShipXdaIIi but get the following message Error 101: connection error. I assume because my XDA is not recognised by Activsync.
I have spent days trawling the forum and trying the various solutions to no avail. Most of the links are dead as in archive.
1. On reset and hard reset the serial text only dims.
2. I tried the process posted by CelticLo and copied a ROM image to a SD card, however again on hard reset the sserial text only dims.
Any assistance would be very much appreciated.
Have you tried updating to the latest version of Active Sync on XP
or following the guide for Vista
Take off battery. wait for about 10 hrs. put back battery and switch on the power.
Thanks for the tip's
I have tried Activesync on XP and Vista still does not work.
I have removed the battery for two days and recharged it through the cradle, on returning the battery and switching on. It returned to the serial screen.
I tried flashing with the following rom : [Maxishare_net]alpine-1.11.171-radio-1.04-bluetooth-patched-camera-fixed again i get the message it is the wrong ROM??
I can not understand why I keep getting the wrong ROM message as it is definetly a XDA IIi PH10C
thanks anyway

Have you READ the Wiki?
I´m sure it will help you to solve your problem
Good luck,
Yup! Wiki solved prob... ^^
Problem with bootloader!
ORBY!!! 10000000000000000 KISSES FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thx, man!!! You are more than best!!!
...
But now i have prob with isntalling Radio ROM... -.-
Computer starts to install it, but it stuck on 0% and displays me error 114!!!
I tried lots of stuff to install it!!! All metods i found on forum! And one more thing... I noticed that IMEI number is not displayed on Settings -> Device Information -> Identity ...
Any idea where is problem...? Btw, if you tell me that prob is dead main board... Don't tell me that, please!!!
Yes the MB is problem, 114 error. You can see on booting "No GSM" there is no way to fix this at the moment.
are you sure? same problem here
i got the "no gsm" message on my uni, no more imei and error 114 on radio upgrade...
all the functions work, except the phone/sms/mms
the problem comes on a phone call that i cant stop : touch screen, red button, the call is always in progress (more than 1 hour, but the communication is shut down). The only way to stop the call is soft reset the uni... and then no more gsm!
please if someone have an idea...
sorry for my poor english
Gone through the various help threads on rebooting, resetting etc.. Battery is charged, m/card and sim have been removed..
Phone is at the boot loader stage - reads Upgrade ROM code error - have the USB plugged in and can see the USB writing on the white part of the red, green, blue, white screen but pc refuses to make a connection.. keeps saying activsync not connected or busy..
Have tried rebooting the phone and also the pc, changed cables, changed USB port.. no joy..
Any suggestions appreciated..
not sure what you want...but you have certainly described the situation really well.
i understand that your device is in the bootloader (thats the multi-color screen). i understand that "USB" is written at the bottom of the bootloader screen. i understand that you have removed all the cards.
what i don't understand is what you want help with? why are you trying to establish an activesync connection? activesync will obviously NOT connect if you are in the bootloader because the bootloader isn't the same as windows. windows mobile must be running if you want a full activesync connection.
so what exactly are you looking for? do you want to flash a ROM or radio ROM or some such? are you simply trying to "hard reset" your device? details please!
yea, dont be confused by posts that say 'when connected to active sync, blahblahblah', they dont really mean activesync the program, they simply mean a usb connection. The fact that it says USB on the white part means you can now run your rom flash,.
ok.. what I am trying to do is re-flash the ROM.. I had a flashed ROM on there and I was just going to upgrade it to the latest one (Laurentius26 GoldEdition V3.4 Stock/Spike™ WWE 23568) and about 20% of the way through it froze and then I get a recovery screen come up.. followed the instructions and started to flash again and the same thing happened.
In both cases it seems as if the USB connection was dropped even though there was nothing else happing on the pc at the time.. now when I try to re-flash, no US connection is being established.
Well I left everything disconnected last night and tried again this morning. We have got a connection now but the re-flash has failed again so I shall just go back to the old ROM.. thanks for you all's input.
probably a bad ROM download. I would try to download again and if that doesn't fix it, let the ROM cooker know that he probably has a bad upload of the ROM.
