no not atom Live ;-)
just wanna fetchup the battery issue on Atom.* devices.
(refering from thread 290611 )
-=-=-=-=-=-
iam hardcore-user ;-)
so the battery lasts with me just 10-15 hours (max)
but on the road ... with just phone usage (standby) the battery drains so quickly.
its just sad ... just the new o2 plus is such a cool software ...
and well tapping to death until to get where you want is also anoying ...
is there any option to use O2 Plus .. but let it runns more "battery friendly" ??
any suggestions ?
Hi, i have a Xda Atom too. Since two days, my battery drains very quickly in standby mode. It's incredible. Only 15-16 hours.
I have tried to uninstall O² PLUS. Now it's better, but i think that i have left my Pocket PC too many time on his docking station. (I can leave my Atom connecting to PC a few days in a row if i don't use it)
My battery is surely died.
CLaunch works on the Atom. If you really need Today screen shortcuts, then you can use that instead - low memory footprint, negligible hit on battery life.
(Then again, battery life on the Atom has always sucked. Even on an empty Atom, the most I could ever make it last is 1.5 days, and even then, the battery would kinda overdrain once in awhile, until I forcibly pull the battery out, and reinsert it.)
Oh, and the battery that comes with the Atom? After I discovered it was no longer holding its charge (drains 30% overnight), I switched to a third party. The Atom's original Taiwan battery isn't very good - Shame on you, O2 - this third party battery (worcell, SG, Japan-sourced cells) not only solved the strange battery drain issue - it also worked slightly better whilst at the same rating (1-2% improvement in battery drain).
Yep, it's very strange. I think i will buy a new battery. This Atom costs me a lot of money and with a battery like that, this pocket PC is totally useless.
It's just incredible.
If a member has changed his battery by a new one and can give some advices on it, or just posting a reference. Thanks in advance.
tghanks for the update on that ...
well i live in thailand .. here you can buy uncountable of batterys from diffrent manufacturers .. where the sellers not really knows what they sell ;-)
i will spread out and take a look for the japan name .... iam sure to get it here somewhere and update you here about price and possibility to ship somewhere ...
;-)
wish me luck ;-)

I think it's important to keep this thread alive. I'm sure that is the biggest pb of this Pocket PC. It's incredible to develop a such powerful machine without thinking of battery. Thanks 0².

battery for atom
i am in the Philippines, and this is a nice thread because it has opened my eyes to my recently bought atom (2nd hand of course).
I bought it from a friend of mine who was disposing it and I love the o2 phones (I previously owned a mini - 2nd hand from my sister).
This thread showed me that there are battery related problems, and I will keep all that in mind. I have two batteries - the original one and a 3rd party one.
I do have a question, however, how does one properly maintain the battery? when should I charge it? How should I charge it? etc. . . . .
Since the Atoms run on Lithium Polymer batteries, we don't have to worry about charging. Just plug it in whenever you need to charge it. Don't worry about memory effect, or full charge and discharge, and you don't need to prime or condition a new battery. Ah, the beauty of Li-Poly. You just need to full charge-discharge it like once a month to reset the battery charge gauge and make the full charge more accurate.
So O2 Plus is one of the culprits? A shame, O2 Plus has some really good functions. On my old PPC (iPaq 6365) I used vBar as my taskmanager and app closer, but on the Atom Exec I used O2 Plus. But if O2 Plus is no good, I'll try uninstalling it.
But I need a replacement for it. I can try CLaunch, though I don't really need the Today shortcuts. What I need the most is a Taskbar app, and unfortunately I found vBar to be buggy on the Atom (doesn't take the theme color, and randomly crashes) -- it's unknown whether this is an issue with WM5 or the Atom itself, or whether O2 Plus is interfering with it.
Any suggestions for a taskbar manager? I prefer something that displays battery life and lets me manage the memory by shutting down tasks. Preferably like vBar it can quick switch between tasks at the click of a button on the status bar.
***
BTW -- a quick tip to save battery life: I have found that enabling the "Receive All Incoming Beams" makes my standby time a lot shorter. Make sure it's off unless you're trying to get a contact or picture or something from a fellow beamer.
I have some pretty good news to report.
I uninstalled O2 Plus and I seem to be getting better battery life already.
I fully charged my phone and pulled it out of the plug around 8:00am EST this morning. It was at 99%. Over the course of the day I received 5 SMS, sent 6 SMS, played about 15 mins worth of video on TCPMP, used BT to send over a 10MB file to another phone, did some Memmaid Cleaning and played a couple of MP3s and did various PIM tasks and used voice command all throughout and have the backlight set to 4.
And it's now 5:42pm EST and I have 78% battery life left. This bodes well, in the past I would be at like 50% battery life, and heck that's after charging the phone in the office during the day!
Very promising my phone can easily last 3 days like this with this kind of usage if the battery indicator is correct.
To compensate for O2 Plus I instaled pBar instead as my task manager/landscape mode/battery checker.
It's looking good.
This is the stuff I have on my phone:
Adobe FlashLite
TCPMP
Opera
Conduits Pocket Player
Worldmate
Atom Phone Pad
Spb Backup
Tengo Free
Resco Explorer + Today/Registry/FTP Plugin
Dynomite
Bookworm
Memmaid
O2 Keyboard driver
Worms World Party
Chess Genius
Voice Command 1.6
Code Wallet Pro
O2 Phone Plus
i do think so
I'm now using HTC device and been used a while...i found the batter life is definitely a satisfactory concern of part of HTC!! In a word, it's good...but before that i had o2 Atom, and its battery was totally disappointed....
Guys,
i found this to make the standby hours longer...not sure wat it does but no conflict with watsoever
And for task manager i always use wisbar advance
its looks nice and works wonder!! very customizable!! This ver3 used much lesser resource than the ver2 but still in beta mode and expire in less than 2 weeks
hopefully i can find a version that will not expire!!
Cheer!!

thanks for the wonderful idea about the battery. This is my problem before..dont use also SPB mobile shell (if u want a registered copy just PM me,or serial)
try also to reflashed a new ROM created by jiggs(better the evaluation version 1st-there is sms issue in final), fast and stable. Use XCPUscalar and put autoscale so the processor will not be always in a full blast that consume a battery. hope i shared a good ideas to you..thansk to all
Can i use o2 mini or dopod 818pro battrey on my atom exec
SPB mobile shell
Do you think that the SPB mobile shell is infecting the battery life ??
I'm using the SPB phone suite looks ok but my memory is low arround 15MB
And the battery is low after few hours

What about HTC HOME
Battery Life / O2 Plus
Hi All
Reading through this thread it seems that o2 plus is battery loving.
Is there any other software out there that will do the same thing. I use the o2 calender on the today screen and am about to have more than one appointment on the screen. I would hate to lose that feature!
it seems i cant find the O2 plus program here on my phone, the O2 programs are:
O2 Auto Installation
O2 Connect
O2 Media Plus
O2 SMS Plus
which one will prolong my battery life Mochan....
xcpuscalar
ei..don't install xcpuscalar..auto scale doesn't help in battery improvement...they just slow down ur ppc, but still they uses the maximum cpu clock..so it still consume battery a lot.. just use it for overclocking,,not for battery saving...

Hi guys. I post quite a bit in the Blue Angel section of this forum.
My BA is probably the worst device I have ever used in terms of both software and hardware issues. I'm surprised they're allowed to sell it.
My question is, Are there any common problems with the iMate Jam?
Like anything alot of these devices suffer from? 76% of BAs have the 'no sound in call' problem, and alot seem to have the whictling screen/serious bluetooth issues. Anything like this on the Magician I should know about before buying?
Cheers -Mike
Hi, ive had my Jam since middle of jan 2005, and my GF got one soon after so i have had two to play around with, and ive been reading forums fairly extensively since then. I have used roms 1.03, 1.06, 1.11 and i am now runnin 1.12 without any major problems. i have seen a few people complain of various sound issues, which I believe are either a hardware fault (such as a loose mic), or are resolved with Roms 1.11 or 1.12, or even just a hard reset (i have experienced low volume from loud speaker which was solved by a hard reset). Alot of people complain of the not reconnecting gprs issue which i have also experienced on roms 1.11 and 1.12 (it was one of the deciding factors for me upgrading to 1.12) it seems to happen where it tries to send two connections at once and times it self out, I find it to be intermittent, and resolved with a soft reset. Bluetooth has been more troublesome I must say and I only use it for handsfree, so I cant comment on AS connections. I use Buzz_Lightyears SwitchIT software (Buzz you RULE) to turn my BT on/off from my today screen. ROM 1.06 had major issues with BT and required a patch, which helped somewhat with the issue. roms 1.11 and 1.12 very occasionly have issues with BT which again are usually sorted with a soft reset, and once working will stay working untill a soft reset causes them to not work, and a another soft reset is required. BT has issues with being out of sync with the GSM radio i find eg. if BT is on while the radio is off and i soft reset i usually get an issue with BT. Photo Caller ID is intermittent i find, which is possibly because of having the photos in storage space, I'm not really sure and to be honest is not a huge problem anyway.
So yeah there is common problems across the Jam/magician range. however I love my Jam and wouldn't swap it for any other device on the market because for a convergence device which runs an MS operating system (blue screen of death!!! MS are far from perfect) I find 98% of the time its stable and does more then I need. is it perfect??...no, should it be?? we all wish...
Cheers dude! I think I will get one. So long as we're not into Blue Angel territory of 5 soft resets required a day, no sound during calls, random hard resets and bluetooth when it feels like it.
OOH, whats the battery life like?

well Imate manual reckons talk-time of 3-5 hours, 190 hours standby, and once it switchs off with flat battery warning you got 72 hours before it hard resets . anyway heavy use will see you charging it at the end of the day (I usually just sync when i get home). with a few short calls over a weekend it will usually last the weekend. And as your probably aware li-ion batteries like to be charged.

As expected I suppose. I don't understand why HTC devices have such turd battery life compared to sony ericsson devices and such.
Does anyone know if it takes Blue Angel handsfree or Himilaya handsfree?

It's like comparing an Toyota Prius to a Porsche (the Ericsson being the Prius). They both do the job with style, and they are both fine technical achievements. But one of them will drain your gas account a little bit faster than the other.

If u know how to tweak ur magician and deal with it..it will turn into a killer device...
even with the bad quality of the camera, U can manage to take great photos... and with some phtotoshop editing they will be really awesome..
battery life us very good...especially when listening to MP3s ( basically, it consumes 10% of the battery for every hour with the screen off, and using high quality headset)
I use my JAM mainly as MP3 player and a medical reference
BT is good for sending files only as well as hands-free, other profiles are not available...
memory isn't that small, with the proper tweaking, u can get up to 32 MB of free RAM after a soft reset....of course compared to ur Blue Angel, this is very low, but I believe it is more than enough for me -as a JAM user -
if u need to know any thing else, please ask
cheers
I'm very happy with my O2 Xda II mini. It does everything I need it to do. I have not had any sound problems at all. The only issue I had after a ROM upgrade was the GPRS cannot connect problem, which has now been resolved by downgrading just the CallerID program.
Aside from that, I feel it is a killer device.
Cheers for all the help guys!! I really appreciate it. Think I'll give the magician a go
About Magician Probs
For the list of probs, I get two number for incoming calls: the caller and a private number?!? But this is just a very little prob.
In a thread I've described that my magician simply won't start when is cold. COULD SOMEONE TRY THIS MESS IS SERIOUS!!!
And for the prob of the GPRS: ok, but I don't have CallerID and DON'T want to install it. MUST I install I to eliminate this prob?
I love my magician. Is my wonder machine...
If you do not stop the extrom from installing after a hardreset, CallerId will be automatically installed on your device. For some reason HTC have chosen to name the link in the start menu "Photo Contacts" instead of CallerId.
If you want a more Blue Angel like device (with regards to size and features of the Blue Angel) I would recommend the Alpine. I'm personally not using it because I prefer the smaller size of the Magician but the Alpine is full featured and from what I read from some other users in germany, almost bug free. Especially bluetooth is said to work great, better than (and with more profiles due to the Widcomm stack) the Microsoft Stack of the Magician. It also features the 1,3 MPix camera, a good display, WLan and a faster processor (500 MHz). If you prefer the bigger devices and don't need the keyboard, I think the Alpine rocks.
I've had the Orange SPV M500 variant for about a week now and it's been absolutely flawless.
No no, I decided to skip the installation of CallerID (in the italian devices is called Identità Visitatore -huh?-) but I'm not sure if it's needed to resolve the GPRS prob -downgrading-
Oh, I've got another prob: u MUST know a good program like MortRing to set the ringtone OR windows keep resetting to the standard one.
There are plenty of little probs: to set up the jam correctly, there is the need of a decent regedit and personal experience...
I know the great majority of you chaps think it's wonderful, so please don't take this as a trolling, it's just my opinion.
I've had the orange m500 for 5 days now, and I've had enough. As a windows pda it's fine. Quick, small, nice screen, decent battery life.
As a phone it is awful. The whole interface seems like such an afterthought. You would imagine that it would be easy enough to do basic phone things without having to take the stylus out, but you can't. For example, if you go into the contact book, then click on a contact but get the wrong one, there is no way to go back up a level using hardkeys. You have to click the X in the top corner, which is fiddly to say the least.
That's just one small problem I've had out of quite a few, but it's become quickly obvious to me that a quick and easy-to-use phone is more important to me than an all-singing windows pda, so I have arranged to return it. If your priorities are similar to mine, I would urge you to look elsewhere.
you should try "mamaich's contacts", adds a contact button right to the phone dial pad, and lets you use HW joypad to scroll through your contacts and pages...Its like the missing link I swear. true one handed dialing.
it's found on this board, and is free.

HI!
I'm so badly dissappointed about my Qtek S200, that I rescued my JAM and sent the S200 back to it's shipping box.
I'm a bit surprised to see at this forum so "little" resentment with such a frustrating machine (at least to me), so I've decided to open a thread to resume the complains.
Just a few salt grains to begin with, please, add yours.....
1- S l o o o o w w w w ..... booting. It takes almost as much time as my fully loaded XP desktop.
2.- And slowwww overall processing. It may be related to some programs "optimized" for Xcale, but even the MS apps are slow.... and buggy.
3.- The killing bug: Notes inside contacts, ARE LIMITED IN SIZE, without notice, MS decides how much of your precious info can be.... discarded.
No info about this one in MS site. I synced with 2 PC´s, so I was able to recover my long notes in most contacts. This should be a NO-GO for all users.
4.- TomTom? Never mind, you will arrive to your destination while TT5 is still loading..... if ever.
5.- Scrolling down for Mr. Zun in a 3000 contact list? Again, don't hold your breath.
6.- BT Sync? Out of luck again, The S200 found most BT laptops "not to provide Active Sync services", where my JAm has no problem at all (Widcomm drives on the laptops......)
This and other messages have been written while my S200 made it last sync with my PC, 45 MINUTES! on a USB.2
7.- Did I mention that phone Caller ID pictures are ridiculous in size? Or that you can not access HISTORY calling via the D-pad as expected?.
Too may glitches for an expensive and promising machine. Better if my wife never find about how much did I "invest" in this thing.....
"Back-to-up-grading" to my old JAM, will miss the integrated WIFI, hello again Sandisk SDIO...!

I have a qtek s200 and am quite happy with it, altought I overclocked it and did some reg tweaking, now it runs faster than two different peoples Jam's . I think most of your complaints are from WM5. not necissarily the s200. The OS is much slower (it seems than, wm 2003se)
no problems here with my jamin. syncs up fine bluetooth. dont see the need for the overly long contacts notes. pics caller id is fine size. slow? not at all. i dont find it slow. no slower then my hp2215
Can't comment on BT or long notes as I never need those, but as for speed, compared to some other device I got to use (not all of them phones and some with faster processors) it is definitely ok.
Yes WM5 is slow but if you upgrade to the latest AKU 2 ROM (I used the one on i-mate site as my device originally came as JAMIN) the speed improves. It shortened the boot up sequence as well.
Still my iPaq 1710 with the 200MHz processor runs a bit faster as it is WM2003. MS really blew it this time, but if you want the newer phones that are coming out, you just have to suffer.
My S200 has been great so far... However...
My only complain is:
It does take forever to boot! It even fail to boot altoghether (stalls) and on two occasions, only a HR fixed it!
Speedwise has been ok...
Impressive battery life!
Hello,
While some of the points listed by Looking Glass are acceptable, I still can't see the problem.
I mean: True! It takes ages to boot after a HR... but how many times in a day do you HR your devices ????
I have bought my Jamin one month ago, and after the very few days of experimenting and testing, I have NEVER hard reset it again.
As for the speed: again, it is slower than the Magician I owned before, but not that much!
I found out that divx playback without overclocking is almost impossible... would you really use your PDA for watching movies ? and if you did, would you really be happy with the battery life ? REALLY ?
Let's face it: Jamin is neither a multimedia nor a hi-spec device... is just a PDA with Phone extensions. And it does its job.
Sync with Outlook is perfect;
TomTom performs much better than the Symbian version (installed on my N70) and it takes 6 seconds on my device to start.
But you would never waste 6 seconds before starting your trip, would you?
Performance and Battery duration never walk together. That's the compromise that HTC guys had to deal with.
My 2 cents.
Well, I won't write a long post but I'm satisfied with my Prophet upgraded with a Dopod rom (and modified ext rom with my needs).
I'm used to overlock it at 240 too.
Tomtom work perfectly, and doesn't take so much to load (6 sec too I guess)... it work fine with TCPMP too in background. And only sometime the whole thing lag a bit to return to the music after a phone call (with tomtom still running), maybe it's WA2 and WAD which slow the PPC a bit on that point...
BT sync without any problem, my exchange server is well configured and everything works fine for me.
Well, that's a great phone for me
I think my M600 is much better than M500. The M500 (magician) was like a beta, which wouldn't do anything the way it should. The M600 (prophet) feels like, wow, a useable product. Yes, it has a few deficiencies, but it is by far better than the M500. No more resets, no need to always use the stylus, faster (with newest Dopod ROM), integrated wifi, working bluetooth activesync etc. etc.
I'm happy too but I must admit I miss the call history being activated by the dpad.

It takes ages to boot alright, but Hard Reset is much quicker than a simple SOFT RESET... That's where the problem is and Soft Resets are needed quite often. I soft reset at least twice a week or so... I heard from people that soft reset on a daily basis!!! What a nightmare!
On the other hand, I watch divx movies with TCPMP without overclocking and it works just great!... Of course it depends directly on how you encode your movies in the first place.

I'm glad to see we all have points of view about the prophet.
As for one: Overclocking? Tweaking? I mean, W95 was clearly better than Win 3.o, W98 was over W95, and 2000 over all of them, then W XP sat the new standar.... but I'd never seen so much missing and downgraded when moving to a new OS/Hardware!
I overclocked my S200, some improuvment, but not really "shiny".
It may be about WM5, I partly agree, but there are OMAP machines running at higher clock setting out of the box. Why not use them?
And I also admit that moving from slower machines (HP namely) result in a much better perception of the Prophet performance. I used (actually I'm using again now) an i-mate JAM, and my S200 compares so badly overall....

No pun intended, but, You really manage to "identify" your caller by such a small "icon" picture? I really envy your eyesight!
I don't have a 2215 to compare, so you are indeed right about it, but the Prophet is supossed to be the current "top of the line" in its class (I have used a Universal too, they don't compare.....) and it don't fit my expectations. Maybe this is the point.... I expected too much...
Un paso atrás... ¡Ni para tomar impulso!. Fidel Castro.
A backwards step..., Not even to take impulse!
No politics here, just my feeling about some comments on "suffering" to get the most of a new machine. So, so....

I mean ages... just for a SR! and I have to do it several times a day.
I'm getting some cue from your post. Maybe the Spanish ROM is to blame somehow?
And for Rayan, my complain is not about A SINGLE PROBLEM, I can live with some of them, I SIMPLY can NOT stand with ALL OF THEM simultaneously. Maybe WM SP2 will fix it, maybe HTC will set higher clock speeds, maybe SW writers will code specifically for OMAP PDA's...maybe.
But in the meantime I will gladly set my "overclocked-twisted-S200" apart and be productive with my JAM.
Believe me, I love tweaking, I'm the biggest fan of Buzz Lightyear, but reliability is something I can not compromise.

About TT5 I'm talking MINUTES.... not seconds....unfortunatelly.
My point is maybe related to my personal use. lots of contacts, heavy phone/contacts/GPS use, no multimedia, no resident APPs....
The JAM fitted the spec quite well, while still not being perfect. My point is about the many open ends MS/HTC left in this machine.
I've used PDA's and phone/PDA combos for years, and never an "upgrade" turned me so angry.
Thanks for your 2 cents
End of the issue
If anyone has followed this thread, this is just to comment that I finally tracked down the problems: an inmature combination of ROM and chipset versions.
Spanish vendors come to market with a poor Qtek 2.09 ROM version on the G3 chipset. That leads to such a poor implementation that all the S200 speed problems are highlighted.
I passed my machine on to a "less demanding" friend, loosing some "hundred" bucks on the deal, just to get a month later another S200 from my phone company.
That time I got a G4 and 2.15 IPL/SPL ROM combo, that really makes the S200 a NEW machine to my eyes.
Really late, since the p3300 and the p3600 are already out there.
So this is my first post in this forum so I 'll start with some naggin .
I am a proud owner of the lg ks20 which I absolutelly love. But its buggs are killing me.
First of all there is the free memory issue.I find it quite strange that a WM6 device with 128MB ram has only about 30MB free memory left.I mean cmon Vodafone and LG,we are talking about a huge 45 MB memory hole here.Any ideas on how to get rid of that?
Second serious issue with the is the lack of proper directdraw drivers.I hate the fact that I can not run any applications (with the exception of S2U2 whick works quite well) that use directdraw.Thats a great limitation to what one can do with this phone.
The hardware is all good, big enough ram,rom etc,top class CPU but the software sucks.
I know this is mainly an HTC forum, but I also know this is the right place to talk about WM phones when hacking and software development is concerned .
So is there any possibility to get things moving and resolve some of the phones bugs?
I have a KS20 too and would like to see some of that solved, too. But I guess we have to wait for the KS20 to be more common before there will be enough attention to get someone with enough knowledge to do something about it. I hope the English version of KS20 will come out soon and that it will get more people interested in this issue.

Did you install some strange software? OTherwise you should send your phone back to LG.
Battery always 100% and refuses to charge
Hi All,
I am new to the LG KS20.
It was working fine for 2 weeks, and now suddenly i find the battery status always showing 100%, and it just dies after a day of usage. Even worse, is that since it shows 100% always, it does not charge. When i try connecting the charger, it says battery is full, and the green LED light glows.
Can someone please help me out in resolving this issue.
Thanks you,
Jefferey Rayan
I have exactly the same problem - the 100% issue happend from one day to the other after about two weeks of use. The phone can then only be turned on by connecting it to the charger ( ac-adapter).
Some people in other forums claim it to a damaged battery, some to the 10a-ROM-version. It does not seem to be charged according to the message on the display and the greed led, but I am now about to check out if it really doesn't charge the phone. It turned it self off after about 1 minute of use yesterday, I connected it to the charger over night - today it functions properly so far...
So maybe it's "just" a matter of a wrong display message - in this case one would have to connect it to the charger every 2 - 3 days (guess the battery status) - not a very satisfactory solution, but maybe a solution until a new ROM arrives for non-branding devices.
Battery is dead - if it always shows 100%
I also have the 100% full loaded Problem!
It enoys me
LG has big Problems with their Batteries!
When you have that problem discribed above - your battery is the faulty crap.
Hardreset doesn`t help
So send your phone to LG to get a new battery,...
I am from Austria - LG Austria is not willed to help me - because LG Austria isn`t selling the KS20
The say like **** off - it`s not our problem
So I don`t know how I get a new battery.
My German Reseller told me that LG also has problems with delivering new batteries.
So a pice of crap - with Nokia they would never tell you - you don`t get support because you bought the mobile in Germany and not in Austria,...
Can anybody help me?
Shouldn`t LG Austria have to help me with my warranty?
GreeT`s Erich
I am also from Austria, bought the branding-free version at redcoon.at - they offer 2-year warranty, so I sent it back at the end of May. They probably sent it to LG Germany and it's still sitting there. I hope that according to my descriptions they will exchange the battery, otherwise I will be really pissed off. The repair takes 4 - 6 weeks they say. So I've bought a 400 EUR phone and have to stick with my old K750i for weeks, maybe for months.
I would not recommend anyone to buy this phone. It's on the market for 8 months now, no support, no drivers, no official updates. pure sh*t.
Anyone who wants a stylish mobile should go for the new HTC Diamond.
It's really worth the extra 100 EUR.
For those who have no warranty, I would recommend to plug it to the charger every 2 - 3 days until there are batteries available to buy directly from LG. Since everybody who got it's battery exchanged seems to be happy now, this should be the solution. IT DOES RECHARGE although it shows 100% full and the green led is on. I plugged it to the charger overnight and then it worked for about 3 days of extensive use without any shutdowns. So it's just the indicator that does not work.
Good luck!
The repair takes 4 - 6 weeks they say

Thats why I will not send my phone to LG!
I will try to get a new Battery.
LG- Service sucks damn hard,...

i've got a MS25 Genius (american KS20 just without 3g, wifi, and VGA cam) from VIVO here in Brazil, and my battery stay always on 99%..
My clock is bugged too, always turns to the "Praga" clock when i sincronize with ativesync..
I'll not send my phone to LG Brasil! if they suyck in Europe they will suck a pretty much more in my ****ed up contry.. i don't want to stay 2 months without my phone..
Anyone's got a solution?
thank's!
I bought a new Battery - but not original LG.
Maybe a failure - because when I charge it - my phone turns off,...
The only advantage is it was half the price
I don`t knoe if LG has fixed the new batteries - because buying an original with the fuxing problem is sick
greet`s
back to initial thread, I also have a KS20 and got some 34/37MB after soft reset with default LG app disabled...
it doesn't appear to be that much and normal...

I Love It !!!
Hey .. thank you for the links !!
I totally love this UMPC.. this is the best device ever released yet ... I have to wait about 6months to have it .. but I want it as soon as possible.
It will be so nice using a big WinMobile screen (better than the small 320x240 on a 2"8 screen). Vista is a so nice OS... I will have my 2 favourites OS on the same device.. I can't believe it !
HTC has put everything needed in the device. The review is nice.. but they should have introduced origami 2.0 ... not just showing the start animation.
If someone want to offer one ... I take it !
Unless they have sorted out the 2 hour battery life, it will remain a gimmick and no buyer will be satisfied with the purchase
I was really into the shift until I spent about three hours with a Fujitsu Lifebook P1620 today. 9" touch-screen convertible, 1.2ghz dual core, 100mb hard drive, vista or tablet xp, PC card slot (hello cheap wireless 3g card), VGA out, fingerprint reader, 3 USB ports, bluetooth, wlan, touchscreen works great for writing/browsing (it is passive digitizer though), you can touch type on it with some practice, and over 5 hour battery life My 2008 budget comes in next week and I am absolutely buying one.
Making calls with shift seems like it will require a hack, no simple soft-reset for the crippled wm6, embarrasing battery life, 5 minute cold-boot time for vista, etc. Why pay nearly $2k for a gimmicky device that in the end doesn't really do what a phone or a laptop can do. We all have a phone anyway...who wants to carry that monster to the pub just so you don't miss a phone call??
Well. I got mine 24 hours ago and I like it. Keyboard is nice. I cand write using my 10 fingers after some training. Battery life isnt bad and if I need more live I ve a power bank that gives me 7 hours more. wifi, hsdpa and bt works very well. It moves Vista nicely. I ve installed my development tools (Visual Studio 2008, eclipse and jboss) and work nice. VGA output letme use hi res at home with a lcd screen. I wasnt very convinced when I bought it but by now I am very satisfied

well .. you are wrong on many things ! ouch ....
1°) making calls is still not sure that it will require a hack ... you can see french sites telling that it is a COMPLETE PHONE... so I think that it could depends on the country you buy it.... we'll see !
2°) for WM6 there are ability to soft-reset it .... because it will be A REAL WM6.. even if they talk about "Snap-Vue" it IS WM6.... what they put upon will never be enough to change it in another OS... it is running WM6 !
3°) embrassaing battery life ? if you are using WinMobile .. you will have about 1 week of battery life.... it's enough ! Vista is so greedy that you should never think about using it without a power supply.
4°) 5 minutes cold-boot time ... oh my god ! .. you are completely wrong !!!!!! it is faster than that .. it is about a minute ... not more than 2 minutes ! And with Vista SP1 it is the same time for hibernate boot ! (hibernate was not good with preview Shifts... because of Vista.. but Vista SP1 is a little better). On the video : vista starts at 6:36 and is running at 7:40 ... 1:04 for resuming from hibernate !
5°) The device is more about 1200$ .. than 2k$ ..
If you don't know anything about the real shift spec.... I understand why unuseful 9" laptop seems interesting for you !

nice !! have you tried installing winmobile application sending a cab by mail ? just to be sure that we will be able to install everything we need .
is there any way to shutdown both (winmobile and vista) ? Something about voice calls?
My main concern is if I'll be able to run full version of WM and access files on hard drive or SD card and work with them. If yes, I'm in! Anyone has been able to hack it so far?
No luck sending the cab because you can save it to disk (outlook doesnt want to execute it because It says is unsafe). But after saving it I dont know how to execute it....
I havent tried phone calls. well, I dont know how. Vista can be turned off, of course. But you can turn off windows mobile. Even I dont know how to reset it (except remove one second the battery). But I am sure we will solve all this issues.
Dani
once saved to disk, press CTRL while tap and holding on the clock. Select run
type FEXPLORE or FEXPLORER (don't remember)
Launch your cab.

CTRL while tap and holding on the clock ?? Seems to be a pretty good hack !
danielherrero .. plz confirm that it works
1. YOu prove my point. phone functions are NOT widely available, if at all. I am glad you red something on a frech website, but I have actually held and used one of these and it did NOT make phone calls out of the box. Yeah, we can hack to do that if bought in a non-voice approved area, and get no support/possibly void the warranty. nice.
2. show me a soft reset hole, cause the one I played with didn't have one. THere is another thread in this forum from a guy who has to take the battery out of the shift he actually has in his hands to soft-reset. Your syllogistic argument is silly.
3. battery life of one week when using the phone...which I already carry one of, if you want to use the pc part of it the battery life is miserable so what's the point of having it there when it must be tethered to a wall wort at all times.
4. Watch the unboxing vids, this thing takes ages to cold boot vista, which i what i was talking about, not the hibernate resume you are quoting. also, the one I used for several hours took about 4.5 minutes to load vista. Desktop PC's fully specced have trouble loading vista in one minute my freind. IF that has been solved on newer releases I would like to hear someone who is holding one right now say that. Thanks for the tip to "never use vista without a power supply" now please continue to prove my point about the pc function of this thing being a joke by telling me how the shift can't be downgraded to xp....
5. The cheapest I have ever seen advertised for the shift is on the edge of $1700 US. Where are you seeing them for $1200?? I have seen them for 1200 EUROS, which is about $1680 US. Note that euros and us dollars are worth a different amount.
I'm not trying to bash the shift. Nor do I want some kind of flame war with you. I am reporting my experiences on actually having used both of these devices. I am sure that for some people the shift fills the little niche that they need. My point was that for me, and I would venture that for a lot of business users, the shift has a lot of shortcomings and is not the right device.
Your post makes me pretty sure that you have never ever actually used either of these devices, so you shouldn't tell people that they don't know anything about something you are even less informed about. If someone who owns one of these and is using it now wants take issues with my statements, I am very ready to listen. Perhaps the models they have are better than the one I used, if so I'd love to hear about it...from people who have one in thier hands!

It was working on a previous ROM. I am talking about the CTRL key from the physical keyboard. Try from the mail app for example. If it's not the clock, it's the battery icon.
As a side note, did you get the unit as a reviewer, or did you actually bought it from somewhere where anybody else can?

I have used the shift for about half an hour on a demo day (Microsoft Unified Communication launch). But I have not bought it yet.
1. yeah .. but I hope for a hack (without a warranty void !)
2. it seems that there are no soft-reset hole..but I'm sure that we will be able to soft reset with a program without having to have full WM6
3. battery life on my laptop is half an hour.. so the shift is more than what I'm used to ... maybe this is why I'm not worried about. and if you have read my scenario (few threads before) you would see that the Shift is not on a battery life that much in Vista mode.
4. I have watch the unboxed videos and read many reviews about the shift.. and what they said was always "resuming from hibernate take longer time than a cold boot" and that a cold boot take about a minute and a half to 2 minutes but these times were from the "test prototype" of the shift. And if resuming from hibernate take only a minute... you just have to use it and you should not care about the cold boot time ! (I'm on vista on my desktop and always use hibernation mode ... and it comes back in less than 30 seconds .. and from sleep in less than 2 seconds... but it's a faster computer than the shift).
5. I have read a lot about $1200 announced before the official released ... but maybe the price is a higher .. the iphone is 1000€ and I think that it is less than $1000 ... so don't believe that the price in € is significant to the price in $ .. it used to be the same price ($1000 --> 1000€ .. even if $1000 is only 680€) but I can't say if there is shops where the shift will be under $1400.
I don't want to enter in a war with you too .. I'm just sharing my opinion that's all. I have read a lot on the shift for more than a year (like so many people) and I'm not a current owner of a shift.

.. I hope we will find out to do it ... I'm sure there is a way ! because they need to remove snapvue for the support !
I think the clue is to know how the updates will be applied. Probably It will be done using vista side. So I think there will be a way from this side to access flash chip WM6. This weekend I couldnt research about it but tomorrow I will do it because I want to install bandswitch to use gprs with direct push instead of umts to increase battery live. (althought I ve to say battery live is good so far..
Dani
ps. I bought it on shopping center in Madrid, Spain. They have it since last monday.
There is a way from vista, because the manual state you can install a certificate for the WM side from the vista control pannel. I think this is just a com port to redirect on the WM part for getting AS, but if the trick I gave you doesn't work, it's just a question of time before getting access to the OS.
Maybe you could try on you PDA to check what I'm talking about. Presse the center of your D pad instead of CTRL in this case.

Hello.
I have a prophet for about 3 years now and WM6 PT coffee room for about 6/7 months.
This weekend, after a great beach afternoon hearing mp3 with it, next day it starts to consuming battery very quickly and warming up very quickly when connected to USB (at both home and office links) and when talking on a call.
I would like to know if someone experienced same symptoms and if you think this is a battery issue or mobile hardware issue. As far as I can test, is not battery warming up, is front of the mobile, like lights/speaker surrounding zone, data display and buttons.
I don't know if I should waste money on a new battery or purchase another mobile.
Any help/experience will be appreciated.
Regards and many thanks.

battery issue~~~~
The reason is, music playback is a kind of " high " battery consumption,
old battery is not healthy enough to handle such continuous electrical flow,
so, getting tired faster then the youth....
e.g. I am always easy to get tired (old) but my daughter keeps jumping around (young)
use win 5
Thank you for your suggestions. Curiously, using wall charger, mobile does not seems to heat. Any way, after all night long connected to wall charger, it charges only 70%.
USB is not charge quick enough. It semms not charging by USB. I think I'll try to wait one more month until my cell network to have PDA to change by consumption points.
Regards.
No more suggestions or someone with same problem?

Also, this isn't really "Prophet Mobile 6"...
Unfortunately is not battery issue. I've switch today to another battery and there is warming up when connected to PC USB (not at wall charger) and when talking on a call. BAttery consumption is very high (some times, others seems stable).
It is possible to be software?
Regards.

Yes, it's a prophet. And yes, with mobile 6 running.
If you own a prophet with a possible software issue and these 5 topics:
Prophet
Prophet upgrading etc.
Prophet accessories
G4
Prophet mobile 6
Where do you post something like this?
As moderator, feel free to move it to best topic.
Regards.
In fact, it seems it's really a Prophet + WM6 issue.
I moved to WM5 yesterday. No more problems. I've waited until today morning to use old battery layed on office. I've changed it 1 hour ago, connected to USB and no problems at all.
I'll move to WM6 again at the end of the day. Maybe some piece of software (some controller driver, or something). Don't know.
I'll post further details in order to help other users.
Regards.

I think it's more to do with Prophet... So I moved it
It sounded like more of a hard ware issue. The Prophet Mobile 6 is more for ROM development.
What WM6 ROMs where you using?
You right. It seems rs (with sd adaptoer) card. That's why it's so hot rounding speaker zone.
But it seems S200 hardware issue, not card, since I can read car perfectly from a SD USB pen. It's already causing some problems for about 6 or 7 months: I need to take SD out and put in again to read it. Seems S200 lost connection to card after some time.
I'll investigate further details when have some time
I am experiencing a very high battery drain now (5%/h). Possible reason: I've installed n my WM5 Opera Mobile 9.5, Music ID, Skype and QIP, which I've never done before. I've performed a hard reset an hour ago, let's see how it behave tomorrow.
