Hi, all! I've been a long-time silent visitor to the XDA Dev forums. Please overlook my tackiness in my first post being an ad. Thanks for your time!
Please review my eBay feedback and be confident in doing business with me. I can also provide references from other forums (Craigslist Atlanta, Aximsite, MobilityToday, NotebookReview, TabletPCReviewSpot, Racketboy).
So, why are you selling?
I recently purchased a brand new HTC Universal from an eBay auction (Auction #280078726783). I wanted to do a head-to-head comparison of that unit versus my existing Cingular 8525. Well, frankly, the HTC Universal was a tad larger than what I had envisioned. I only spent fifteen minutes using the phone in comparison.
Given the above, it's time to put this amazing smartphone up for sale. Is it fair to say 'amazing' even though I opted to stay with my 8525? It is indeed! This device's VGA screen is amazingly clear and bright (on par with the iPaq hx4700). The phone is GSM Unlocked, and it worked perfectly for me with my Cingular SIM card. The keyboard is amazing as well. I used it literally a total of 15 minutes. All accessories are completely brand new, still in their packaging and ready for you to take in the "new plastic" smell that has addicted many of us.
This unit is a rebranded Qtek 9000 that is sold by Vodafone.
Price, payment, shipping, etc.
I paid $600 for the phone. My hope is to merely recover what I paid for the phone. However, I'm realistic. I will provide free UPS Ground shipping (with insurance) as an incentive.
I accept PayPal (VERIFIED members with CONFIRMED shipping addresses only). I'll eat the PayPal fees. I'll ship the item same-day upon receipt of a successful payment.
I live in the Atlanta area and can meet locally at a public place. We must agree to the final amount and tender prior to meeting.

I have a project where I will be porting an application (VB and SQL) to WM5.0 and the target is expected to be an O2XDA Exec, Orange SPV M5000 etc... Universal??
Anyway I am trying to figure out if these are dodgey at all but there seem to be plenty of new O2XDA Exec on ebay with prices way below what the same units would/should cost from O2 et al without contracts.
I expect a few members might have bought from ebay??? so asking what peeps views are.
The sellers always seem to have 20 or so units but everything is anonymous and seem to have to part with money in advance and cannot do this in person so more than a bit cautious.
I am going to need a couple for development and testing.

Dom
Universal from Ebay
I bought my brandnew O2 XDA Exec from Ebay for less than 2/3 the price you would pay for it from any 02 shop. No problems at all
OP, you've just described Ebay as whole ;-D
I suppose it's like everything else on that site: sometimes you get a good deal, sometimes you get burned. Personally I had good and bad experiences on Ebay, just like any other 'ad board' site or magazine.
EDIT: check out this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=53525&highlight= for a cautionary tale...

From an individual or a trader outlet?
Sorry to ask but these are not cheap enough to make a mistake.

Ditto, why I was asking. Don't want to get burned for £500 and no XDA's.
Found what seemed to be a good deal at about 2/3 (£280) of the RRP (£400 ish) from one ebay trader. I wanted to exchange cash in person and all of a sudden it wasn't possible and there was this reason and that reason why they couldn't... all sounded far too dodgey to me.
BTW it was someone from O2 shop that said look on ebay when I said I just wanted the phones without the contract.

I got my MDA Pro from eBay for £250. It was brand new and sealed, I am very happy with it.
You have to be very careful when you buy from eBay.
Always email the seller and ask if you can collect and pay cash. If they refuse then ask yourself why? Maybe its dodgy - sometimes it maybe genuine.
Also check their previous selling history - if they have never ever sold any pdas/phone and suddenly they have 20 PDA's for sale then be careful - usually very dodgy.
Good Luck...
On the matter of refusing to accept cash to be fair I suppose I'd be the same. When you bet on something it clearly tells you how the payments are accepted: usually paypal.
Personally if someone bought my 500pounds device and wanted to switch the payment mode to cash right after winning the option, the alarms bells would be ringing too. I'd probably just say no and explain the above but some people don't like saying no and rather make crappy excuses instead... in which case the alarm bells would then be ringing in the buyer's ears this time round...

Oh wasn't before winning, insisted on emails with bidders before he would accept any bids from you. Would cancel bids otherwise.
It looked like he had the items as a fixed price and would sell direct just not through ebay and so no ebay protection etc... why I asked face to face and cash.

what kinda apps r u gona be porting?
I am porting amateur radio logging, prediction and rig control software(last one a bit of a non-starter as these do not have USB host and not sure can get rs232 connectivity working).
There will also be some additional Oracle, sql2000 and sql2005 monitoring apps written using VB .net

I bought my O2 XDA Exec from Ebay, Paid $650.00 for it new in box and have had no problems with it. The seller was UK based and I live in the USA.
Well, my contract with O2 was up for renewal a couple of months ago and I said that I wanted my PAC code as I was going to switch to Orange as I wanted a Universal. In the end O2 said I could have a new O2 Exec for FREE on a O2 500 tarrif for £25/mth. Of course I accepted.
Dom,
I got a refurbished Vodafone V1640 from a business seller on ebay for £240! It came with everything in its original box. The only flaws were a small scratch on one of the hinges (stated in description) and a little polarisation flaw on the screen (NOT stated in description, but it's not too much of a problem). Overall I think I made a good purchase.
Hi fellow site users!
I have a 3 weeks old Exec that has done nothing but be an expensive paperweight since I've had it! See my other posts about the Active Sync/Outlook problems I've had with it!!
I've therefore decided to sell it off and thought I'd offer it here for first dibs to you guys rather than have the time waster bids on eBay.
history - I took it out of the box, setup a new partnership on my laptop and when it sync'd only 24 of my 88 or so contacts showed up on the exec's display - no amount of tweaking, settings changes, selecting show all shows the rest up. I've had to borrow a friends Xda2i in order to allow me to continue working which has no sync problems at all. These last 2-3 weeks the Xda has sat on my bedside table on a bunch of sales receipts!
In order to quel any of you guys fears, I do have an eBay account with feedback of 311 at 99.1 % and my business eBay power selling account with feedback of 5280 at 99.8% (I will provide these via any PM's )
I will send abroad to the US/Canada/Aus (in fact I sold me, my business partner and brothers Xda2 to USA buyers!).
The unit itself is of course in brand new condition. Nothing is missing, I've not opened the software. The only thing I've done is update to the latest ROM from 02's website. It's currently in Corporate mode too. I've not installed any programs, nor have I used the phone. I've only tried to sync it with my laptop - it's the only use it's had! - I also put a screen protector on as soon as I peeled off the 'shipping sticker' on the screen.
Similar Exec's on Ebay from sellers with decent feedback seem to be in the £300-350 range (lower priced ones are from lower and single digit feedback sellers - which raises the point if they're genuine).
I'd like £325 for this unit and I'm open to sensible offers.
If there's anything else you'd like to know - just ask here or via PM!
Cheers! Dennis! West London UK!!
BUMP*!!
Is the price too high?!
I guess I need to start taking some pics of the Exec and prepare to list it on eBay!
Anyone on here interested?!!!
Cheers!
Dennis! West London UK!!
You obviously haven't looked hard enough, mate!
A brand new one for £250. Yours would have to be offered LESS than that, considering its not new like the one here:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/O2-XDA-EXEC-B...46QQihZ019QQcategoryZ3312QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
rubish..... £325 is an absolutelly more than fair price!!....specially if you are able to reassure the buyer that this is not going to be an insurance claim!!... which is more than what you can say about alot of the phones going through ebay!

Nah, I disagree, £325 is a fair chunk higher than market value. Last as new exec I sold on ebay got £265 and my open box ones about £230. eBay may well be higher than market value as there are less savvy buyers doing their bidding and pushing prices up, not down. Someone using this board is less likely to pay over the odds, which £325 definatley is.
Richard
Yeh,
I think I'll just whack it up on ebay and hope none of the stupid zero bidders wastes the auction!
Hopefully I'll get 'decent' dosh for it !
Cheers guys!

As soon as the packaging/box seal is broken it is already a second-hand product eventhough totally unused. You have already used the item and changed the original OS in it.
I guess you'll get a better offer if you claim it as a "like new" item.
You interested in trades for this,Dennis?
Brand New, UNUSED Samsung E900?
Let me know ASAP.
Darren.
You're probably best off sticking it on ebay, I have done this with all of my previous XDAs and have always got the proce I was looking for, probably because they were in very good conditon (which yours obviously is) and because of my solid ebay rating. I think people would rather pay a decent price for an item from somebody who is reliable than go with somebody like the guy offering a brand new Exec in the link for £250 (18 feedback and only 95% positive? Would you really risk £250?) Just my two cents.

Hi, I really kind of hate askin questions like this, cause so many opinions can vary, but I am trying to get a few ideas on reputable dealers, since I have never dealt with any of them before, I was planning on getting one through Smart-Mobile-Gadgets, they were just mentioned in a few reviews/posts I read in the beginning and seems like a good dealer, but I see so many other places offering TyTN's now.
If you have bought a TyTN and recieved a US charger without the UK adapter, or have had to send your unit back for warranty and recieved good customer service or know of places with good warranty contracts/extended service, or just know of a very reputable dealer, any info you might share would be greatly appreciated.
Also if you happen to know any dealers that have been shipping the 630 serial models.
Thanks
I used phonesource-usa via eBay w/o any issues at all. When Christian replaced my original TyTN, the new one came through with an HT630 serial number. He offered a 3 day return policy on eBay. I'd also check his website to see if it's the same there or not.
I have heard good things about phonesource, but MMB (Mad Monkey Boys Gadgets) I have dealt with personally and he is excellant. Recieved a USA Charger with mine and the 630+ Ser #. excellant communicaitons as well.
I went through quite an exercise on my quest for a TyTN:
1. I went to Smart-Mobile-Gadgets, and pre-ordered an early shipment from him in late July for an August ship date. Unfortunately, he ended up getting a bad shipment (all MTeORs and no TyTNs), but I'm happy to say he promptly refunded my money. (Overall experience: no phone but still an "A")
2. I went to PhonesourceUSA. I bought a TyTN (628-series), which he promptly shipped to me overnight (I paid extra for that). (Overall grade: "A+")
3a. After about a week with the TyTN, I experienced the stupid stylus silo problem. I arranged to have the device replaced as a DOA. In support of this, I shipped the device out for Saturday delivery, with the expectation that a replacement would be shipped back to me the following Monday. I would have preferred that he ship the replacement before he received the bad unit, but I could live with this arrangement. (Interim experience: "B+")
3b. Well, it didn't ship on Monday... and it wasn't until Tuesday when I called to complain that he did ship a device... but he shipped it 7-day Ground! Unfortunately for me, this happened around the Labor Day holiday, and a full 10 days passed without my replacement TyTN. Suffice it to say I was IRATE... especially after having paid the premium for overnight the first time around and specifically requesting that he send it as quickly as possible (I needed my phone back). Bottom line, I did get my new device earlier this week (630-series), and it seems to be working fine, but the shipping fiasco turned what had been a very good sales experience into a very disappointing one and soured my opinion of this vendor. (Overall grade: "C-")
So the moral of the story: go with the vendor that's going to do right by you on the support front. Given the opportunity to do this all over again, I think I would have bought from MadMonkeyBoy. Although his website is the toughest to use, he's got the scale and the track record to back up what he sells.
Of course this is just my personal experience/opinion and YMMV....
madmonkeyboy all the way.
Bought my HTC Prophet from him....
And now my HTC TyTN.
I keep telling myself not to get the Trinity when she comes out but I'll most likely get that from David as well.
My TyTn
I bought my TyTn at my local dealer !
Fox-Computer in Paris http://www.fox-direct.com
With the GPSlim 240 Holux.
MMD too

I wouldn't recommend for anyone else though; they don't live up to their responsibilities concerning RMA.
Luckily I'm getting more and more happy with my device, so I'm not going to return it anyway ;-)

I'd rather David spend his time on Customer Service and fast shipping than a website.
Brought mine from mobileshop.com - placed the order about 2PM, arrived 9AM the next day! Didn't even pay a dime for the device or shipping. £35/18months. Magic.
I have a well taken care of Tmobile wing for sale. It's in perfect condition as I have a BRAND new full outer case for it (replaces front and back covers as well as frame and pretty much everything you can see when the phone is closed except the screen). It's in 9.75/10 condition. I just got a Tilt/Kaiser so I don't need it anymore. I'd love to sell to a fellow XDA member as I loath EBAY and would rather not sell on there. I am a paypal verified seller with a rating of 500++ transactions. Pics available upon request.
I can revert to Tmo ROM or flash with any rom you want upon request. Currently you can see the rom it's flashed with in my sig.
Asking $275+shipping.

i think you have this site confused with eBay
indeed. while we are partial to turning a blind eye to senior members selling the occasional old device, very new members doing so are not appreciated and tolerated.
Accept the hypocrisy inherent in the system. It prevents scammers
Total and utter nightmare, appauling delivery and contact, DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. They trade on ebay and are absolutely, without a shadow of a doubt, the most unreliable, untrustworthy shower of sh#t.........you have been warned.
If this is the same E-Cell that sell car holders, 12v chargers and the like for phones, I bought one from them in the UK. Super fast delivery and good contact. The mount broke, and they replied the same day with an RMA number although it's not really worth doing that given it was so cheap to begin with. Superglue here I come

Funnily enough, I'd had items like that from them before, itouch cases etc, it seems to be with the bigger items that things start to go wrong, phones etc. This will be the second phone I have ordered from them in three months(for other poeple) and both times the item has been 'lost in the post'!
The Kop is right; I also attempted to order from E-Cell and I never got my Touch HD.
Luckily I managed to get a refund, but the course of that took 2 MONTHS! Looks like many people can't even get refunds.
Should have checked out their customer feedback before I paid, it's atrocious. They only deliver on stupid silicon cases for ipods and such. lol.
I bought my THD from E cell, it took 1 month to receive DUE TO THE POST OFFICE - NOT THE SELLER,
why people can't understand that the seller sends the item and if it is lost in transport it isn't his fault
(perhaps the postman would like to have what is in this big heavy box and state it is missing -happened to a 8gb iphone a year ago from usa)?
And the refund is slow due to Ebay process.
Anyway, Ecell had great communication and initiated a refund process when i requested it,
but at the 2nd day after that i received my Blackstone (@#$%$#@ Greek post employee strike - lazy bastar_s)
E_cell / elcell ((((warning))))

Guys, people will make their own minds up about this 'company', but all I can do is warn people.....DO NOT USE THEM UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE.
Too long to go into here, but if anyone wants my own sorry tale of dealing with them (on more than one occasion), please feel free to get in touch, pm me and I will contact you. I have every email they have sent me (14 of them).
DO NOT BUY A MOBILE FROM THIS COMPANY...

Sorry mate, I've been doing a fair bit of research on this, check out their feedback on ebay, filter it so it's all negative, I think you may be suprised at just how many people fall victim to the 'LOST IN THE POST' bulls**t.

Avoid this company like the plague. All dearer items are not despatched. What has happened on ebay to three strikes and you're out. This company gets hundreds of negatives a month and is still allowed to trade. I was lucky and got my money back through Paypal. This company are liars and abuse the system and give ebay a bad name.
