O2 ATOM..........PLZZZ HELP

Hello everyone,
well i have differnt question/ issues with my O2 atom:
a) this atom has ROM version 20051123B2 & Radio version MN1XN_PDA_051122. can any one recommend me as to what rom version should i upgrade it with.
would upgrading the ROM harm it? I badly need to upgrade as its probably one of the most initial atom realeases and its too slow to work on.
B) the phone has no smart dial option/software. I tried to install a software intellidialpro but it doesnt work.
C) Doesnt work well if i use as external usb modem connecting it with my laptop. the browsing & incomming bytes tends to stop after initial 10 minute usage and i have to disconnect it and reconnect it all over again to be able to use internet (that too for max 10 minutes)
F1
Hey! Here's a good idea. Why not post this a few more times?
V
It will require a hard reset but go to the o2 site and download the latest rom. Many of the problems people have encountered have been fixed by the new rom.
By the way where did you get intellidialpro. I want try and make it work. I cant stand the way the phone dialing works on the atom, the mini was a lot better.
upgrade rom to 20060123b1 WWE, downloadable from seeo2.com then follow the link below to change the value, now my atom work smoothly compare with my mini

All About Blackberry on Universal

Ok since we have threads for everything else I decided to post this one about using your XDA Exec, Universal, Jasjar as a Blackberry device.
Please post everything you know about this topic under this thread so we don't have to search all over the forums for this info.
I currently have an O2 XDA Exec running a T-Mobile Rom, spec are as follows:
ROM Version: 1.20.32 WWE
ROM Date: 11/16/05
Radio Version: 1.06.00
Protocol Version: 42.40.P8
ExtROM version: 1.20.120 WWE
Blacberry Active Sync Desktop Version 2.1.0
Blackberry connect software 2.10
Mobile service Provider Cingular
SIM card is GSM GPRS 3G my blackberry service is BES Blackberry Enterprise server and we use Lotus Domino as the Exchange server or PUSH server.
This ROM is slow and not very stable and is not AKU2... What I am looking for is a New T-Mobile ROM that works with the Blackberry software or any other new rom (WWE) that will work with the BB software.
I have tried many different ROMs but the T-Mobile one works but as stated is weak and un stable.
ok i'm dumb. i have a blackberry, and an XDA. i hate the blackberry, but the BES services are fine. how can i get the software to run my XDA as a blackberry? the BES server is owned/operated by my company.
thanks!
Flash it with the T-Mobile ROM apparently!

i doubt it. blackberry only purports to offer the blackberry connect software for the XDA O2, not the UNIVERSAL. also it's only provided to carriers in the UK. hang|man is flying the US colors. also the software looks like it's provided as a layered application, not as a wholesale ROM.
our IT department only allows BES remote clients. if i could run the software on a PDA i would be happy. hopefully it's not the whole blackberry application stack, that's the part that's the most akward to work with. i would like it to utilize the poutlook email/calendar/contact applications.
nah tmob deffo has it on my old rom it had its own blackberry set up,110% sure

mm really? are any of the roms on the ftp the one with the software?
I use the BlackBerry connect with a Qtek9000 with the latest official Qtek ROM. The blackberryconnect software (and the also needed desktop software to activate) can be downloaded from Vodafone in germany:
http://support.vodafone.de/index_l3_2z.html
It works great with my KPN (netherlands) BB UMTS simcard, I am using it now for a few weeks without any problems (Using BES4 with Exchange)
So the version offered on the site does work with AKU2 and seems to be operator independent!
btw:I am using the version offered for the VPA compact IV
ooo! swell! i'l load it up tomorrow thanks! i hope it works
The ROM I posted in the original topic is a ship set from T Mobile, I have an O2 Exec and flshed it with the T Mobile rom and then used the Blackberry connect desktop sync and bb software for the MDA Vario, it works fine.
I use Cingular for my cell phone and blackberry. What I did was take my sim card out of the new 8720 BB and put it in my O2. Everything works fine with the software.
Only problem is the T Mobile ROM is not AKU2 and it is not the most stable ROM out there. The Radio is version 1.06 and seems to do okay in the US.
I did get Ivans new AKU3 beta 6 installed and the BB worked for about three emails then it just went into an eternal signal hunt and would not connect to the bb enterprize server again, I reflashed with the T-Mobile rom and I got everything back. There must be some CAB files in that ROM that allow the BB software to work better.

Hi, are you using the aku2 Rom?
Thanks
Yes,
At this moment I'am only using the blackberry Connect for receiving my e-mail.
My Calendar/ Contacts and Tasks are synced by using Exchange Server Sync.
So both technologies can coexist!

Many thanks RommelAcc. Would you be kind enought to detail the steps to connect your universal to your exchange server through the Blackbery client? I've read elsewhere that you have to install / configure the applications in a specific order to get it to work. Many thanks for your help.

Nothing special:
Install the BlackBerry Connect Desktop on a PC running ActiveSync (4.2 in my case) and Outlook. You need an online connection to you Exchange server (I don't know to configure with Notes).
Install de BlackBerry Connect software on your PDA. And follow the instructions on the screen.
Start the BB Connect Desktop and select 'connect' this will generate an encryption key that is transferred to the PocketPC.
(The BB Connect cannot be activated over the air, you will need a dektop with outlook connected online to your exchange server!)
many thanks, for your instructions. will give it a shot tomorrow.
Cheers.
i installed my blackberry sim in my universal and the black berry software software is working ok for my too. i can sync email and calendar from outlook/exchange. i use activesync for contacts. seems to work ok. although too things have been happening:
1) the PDA hangs constantly on a call to the blackberry software/mailbox after a power off. but during the time between a reset and the power off, it works ok. just can't ever turn it off
2) the blackberry software has to be restated manually after a reset.
is it my ROM, or what... don't know.
edit: ok still playing with it... i had it installed on the SD card when i had the hangs problems. i reinstalled it in main memory, and it seems to be ok. is this what everyone else does?
I have it installed in memory, not on SD...
I had lots of problems with software installed in SD.
ok here's a probably dumb question. how co i configure a new internet connection to use the SIM card? i had internet2.voicestream.com, somehow i think this changes to something else, but i don't know what it is. i tried blackberry.voicestream.com, and internet3.voicestream.com but they don't work either. do i need a seperate data plan on this SIM too? odd, how the blackberry browser worked on the BB7390 then.
edit: when i try to add a different network setting and it's connecting (then failing) i see a 'blackberry' connection trying to reconnect too, but there is no connection setting for it.
do other people have this problem? or am i missing a setting, or do i need another data plan?
edit2: weird my blackberry mailbox is inaccessible. it's on the today screen, but inbox doesn't see it.

I had the same experience with SD installation. After reinstall onto Main me everything works fine except the fact that sometime the messenger does not see the BlackBerry folders. ****ty ! When i've created another email dummy account the BB folders reappears for 3-4 hours and then dissappeared again. After i removed the dummy account the BB folders appeared again, but... again only foor 4-5 hours. Donnot how to deal with it.
Anybody can help ?

i have missing BB folder too.
i setup a wap.voicestream.com connection, and all my net apss seem to work now. what is the right thing to do?
edit: one more weirdness. i got a phone call from t-mobile when they add my voice plan. after this the BB application complained that it was 'block - radio in use' until i reset it. (the restart on reset problem seems to be gone, maybe that was from installing on the SD card)

Cingular 8525 w/ Blackberry Connect

Does anyone know what version of Blackberry Connect software is required for the new "official" ROM (ver. 2.15.502.3) released for the Cingular 8525?
I'm currently running:
Blackberry ver. 2.1.2.54
Transport ver. 2.1.0.91
System ver. 237.240.204.246
Device type: HTC-Hermes
Everything worked fine on the previous ROM, but after updating, it will not connect. I'm assuming I need a newer version. Any suggestions???
Thanks,
Brett

Waiting to hear from others if that has been their experience...

If that's the case, will the Blackberry client work w/ WM6? Might as well go forward instead of backwards, right?

BBConnect is working well in WM6 Black 3.01
Thanks jakirkla for the helpful info!
Need someone to help with the following questions before
I take the big step of flashing up to Black 3.01 from
the Official Cingular 8525 ROM upgrade:
1. Does BB Connect work for BIS (I don't use BES)?
2. Does BB Connect actually generate a PIN for you when you first run it?
3. Can you enter the new PIN and IMEI in the
"Change Handheld" dialog on mycingular.blackberry.com?
4. How fast is email delivered - as fast as an actual Blackberry handheld?
Cheers!
Here's my setup:
1) Cingular 8525 SIM/CID unlocked (HardSPL 7)
2) Elf's 2.1 Crackberry ROM (WM6) - very nice stable build.
3) BBConnect 4.0.0.67 CAB
4) Cingular Blackberry Tethered Unlimited (both BIS and BES enabled)
Make sure you have a data connection working first.
BBConnect will issue you PIN after you click the Register button - you can see this in the BB Connect utility on your handheld.
You can then use this PIN and your phone IMEI on Cingular's BB site:
http://mycingular.blackberry.com/
Don't forget to download the Service books.
If your company has Outlook Web access for Exchange Server you can avoid BES.
BBConnect only allows 3 email boxes on a non-BB device.
Everything works fine except that the BB Service hogs the wireless connection so that I sometimes have problems with other services require internet connection.
Toss that Cingular ROM (even the latest 2.15 update) - it's worthless and a real headache - very unstable
Any idea where i can get the needed BB apps?

Skype

Not that I could be bothered at this point as I use fring and avoid Skype like the plague, but I just heard a new build of 2.2 was out and went to download it.
Strangely, the TyTN is no longer in the supported list and it says that only chat functionality is supported with the TyTN. Interestingly, under their link to show users what Skype looks like on a pocket pc still shows pictures of an HTC TyTN.
Hhhrrrmm. Just wondering if anyone has tried the latest version and build? I've got the old 2.2.0.18 and the latest is 2.2.0.36.
-
The Dopod 838 Pro/CHT 9000 is listed, though. Wonder if its a WM6 version issue?
Just tried the dopod version on my HTC TyTN and it was a no go. Only tested it with 3G, as that's what I'd use it for if I ever did, and every time I tried to make a call to their echo service the program crashed.
Now I'm reverting back to the last beta I had that worked.

Just got my 8525 and one of the things I wanted to use it for was Skype over WiFi (long story). Anyway, the only version I can download from Skype now is the 2.2 Gold. Where can I get the last beta version that worked with the TyTN?
Please help,
Uncle D
No no no noooooo..... Please not again, the subject has been done to death. There are at least two other recent threads on this that are easily found.
Here is one and dowloads to WORKING versions of Skype are linked more than once.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=444543
however
1. i can't start the messenger (programs)
2. can't use the "profile" and "options" at the windows live panel.
[edit]
found this release:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398373&page=2
now i'm able to start the messenger (juhu); however i can't add an account ...
do i have a chance to get the windows live messenger running on this t-mobile x1?
i got this problems too, looks like it is caused by the 3G connection with t-mobile.
The live messenger is working with wi-fi connected. but not with the t-mobile internet.
Are yours branded on t-mobile or is the handset sim-free being used with a t-mobile sim card?
for me it doesn't work with wifi.
phone: branded.
t-mobile branded here.
it has always worked with wifi and 3g. since yesterday it doens;t work on 3g.
is this t-mobiles fault? anyone else with the same problem?

Hes from Netherlands or UK or something. Tmobile does brand it there, not in the USA though.
Hi,
Did what tolkien34 said on my X1 (TMO_NL), got far further then with any other version combinations before, but still having problems signing in.
This is what I did:
Install 10.6.0034.0800 (fixed) - reboot by installer
10.6.39.133 by lazapasi - reboot by installer
soft reset
Either
There was a problem signing in. May be service or place with bad reception.
or
The other side has closed the connection
When I sign in through browser through mid.live.com everything works with no fuzz.
What do I do wrong?
Hi there,
Tried Tolkien34's trick as well, and indeed got further; i got to enter my adress and password.. after clicking next, the first try it took a long time before a message showed that there was bad reception or no service (Something like that).
The second, third (and so on) time I just was sent back to the startscreen of windows live, the searchbar and the text " sign in to windows live ". The program did make a connection with GPRS, but nothing really happened. Same goes for having wifi turned on..
I installed 10.6.0034.0800
and 10.6.39.1300 by lazapasi.
I made a total of 3 soft resets.
I have a dutch t-mobile branded X1.
Whats the next step ?
Edit:
In the topiclink underneath I found that more peope are having problems with coming trough the setup- proces.. That makes me wonder if it's a X1 issue or a program-issue..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398373&page=2
you have to do this:
Install 10.6.0034.0800 (fixed) - reboot by installer
10.6.39.133 by lazapasi - reboot by installer
Install 10.6.0034.0800 (fixed) again! then softreset and it works.
That worked fine! thnx a lot!
I was so close to become desperated...Thanks so much guys! That was a big ACT^^
sorry what do you guys mean with soft reset?
