Good afternoon all,
I've spent most of the afternoon trying to resolve the problem of entering an appointment on the PC at 2:00PM and having it show up on the Device at 1:00PM.
First, a little background.
My Device: A T-Mobile MDA
My Device OS: Faria v3.3, All up to date
My PC: Windows Vista, (I don't want to, I have to)
My Office: Office 2007
In my testing, I noticed that any appointment I enter in outlook prior to March 4, 2007 shows up correctly, On March 4th or beyond, They show up an hour earlier.
If I enter the appointment on the device, It would show up correctly in outlook.
I tried the MS DST Patch, Didn't do anything.
I tried the HTC DST Patch, Didn't do anything.
I tried changeing my time zone to Indiana, Didn't do anything
etc, etc, etc...
Finally, I disabled DST on the PC by going into Control Panel, Date and Time, and clearing the checkbox for "Automatically adjust clock for Daylight Saving Time" and everything worked normally.
I'm hoping that someone smarter than I can tell us why this is happening, or at least come up with a better solution.
My biggest question is Why March 4th? I could understand March 11th, but the 4th just has me baffeled!!!
Also, has anyone experienced this with WM6? (or did Microsoft get this one right...HA)
Either way, I figured I'd post this here to help the many who have helped me.
Good Night and Good Luck

didn't work for me, I guess I'll just enter everything in on the PPC
there's a fix for that problem on ms mobile site for download
I didn't know that tool worked with WM6 I'm trying it now.
Disabling the auto update does work, if you disable and then reenable calendar syncing after you change the setting in the WMDC
the MS timezone tool from windowsmobile.com, reports install as unsucessful
but the Xevious2K method is working for me, we'll see what happens at daylight saving time
Timezone Problem
I had this problem. I made sure to change the timezone on PC and on the PPC to somewhere else and back and it seems to have gone away....
Of course this is after manually arguing with the device trying to figure out why it happened.. lol...
You did install all 3 updates correct?? That would be the PC update, MS outlook update and then the PPC update....
I spent a good, (or bad), three hours trying everything. I patched office, windows and WM5 and even tried WM6. The only thing that worked was disableing Auto adjust DST on the PC.
I will post an update next week after DST starts and let you all know what happened.
It doesn't suprize me that microsoft can't get their own systems to talk to each other. Working with their products everyday, I am amazed at some of the stupid things they do. But, I have to look on the bright side of it...Without Microsoft's ability to write software like they do, I wouldn't own my own computer consulting business.

Thanks everyone for helping me get my Wizard synced. I use Outlook 2003 upgraded with all fixes.
Problem: When I sync my appointments July and beyond are not put on my Cingular 8125. If I add a new contact it is put on immediately.
I use Pocket Informant 2005. I've clicked on Calendar in active sync to go back one month. Active sysn (4.1) says 'synchronized". Is there something I have not activated on my pda?
I really love this sucker but it had better improve soon.
I'm amazed by the cool teaks you people write. The vibrate keypad is hot.
you need to make it sync more than just 2 weeks worth of data. there's a setting in ActiveSync under options that will let's you specify how far ahead you want your device to sync.
I have the same problem, it was working fine then it jst stopped working, when you say ajust the setting for the amount of weeks it syncs, where is that, on the computer it has an option on how far back you can sync but I can not find anywhere of how far forward you want to sync as you mentioned in the last post.
Your right, I adjusted it to one month in the past and it now syncs again. thanks heaps
one month?
The defaut is 2 weeks and I changed it to a month and nothing changed. That's when I made the post. I apprecaite you replies. I spend more time at work on Activesync than my work. Thank God I own my own business, or I'd have to fire myself. It is time consuming.
Greeting,
Sorry if this has been covered but every search comes back blank.
I live in Perth Western Australia and we have just started daylight savings for the first time. Problem is when I move my clock forward the 1hr it keeps changing all my appointment times by 1hr also....which I don't wont to happen!
I assume I'm doing something wrong but can't see the solution, could some please advise how to change times without changing appointments.
Cheers all,
marto
A further update on this. O2 don't have any solutions, there advise is to "uncheck" the "Synchronize Mobile Device clock upon connecting" box which is under the Options tab in Microsoft Activesync.
The other strange thing is all dates in my Outlook calender since the commencement of daylight savings have moved themselves forward 1hr even though the time on my mini are still correct??
Perhaps microsoft have a solution or answers.

Here in Europe DST starts on the last Sat/Sun of March and ends on the last Sat/Sun of October. As long as the timezone and regional settings are right the OS pops up a message asking the user for confirmation of the time change. Your PC must likewise be set accordingly for appointment times to be in sync.
I think this auto on/off of DST is built-in in the OS. Since it is the first time that Australia is using DST, I'm not so sure if would work for you automatically. You might have to manually advance the clock by 1 hour to both your unit and PC.
We've just started DST (Sydney, Australia) today and I noticed that my PC (Vista) changed automatically but my PDA (JasJam) updated with HTC WM6 didn't change. I can't find anywhere to sync the clock with the computer in Vista Mobile Device Centre and can't find anything on WM6. I did a sync and soft reset but it still stayed on non-DST time. I manually changed the clock and synced and the time stayed and my appointments stayed ok in Outlook but I'm not sure what's going to happen with my invitations to other ppl though.
Is there supposed to be somewhere to change the region/time to DST??
apologies if this has already been answered somewhere.. if so could you please direct me to the answer.
i recently upgraded and got wm 2005. i'm running pocketbreeze on the today screen and i'm having a problem with appointments being one hour out. if i go to the calendar and make the appointment 8-9, it comes up as 9-10 in pocketbreeze.
however its not quite as simple as that.. there are SOME appointments (i *think* they're the ones i've made in outlook) that appear at the CORRECT time. although, they happen to have moved back one hour. IE, one appointment i had went from 7-8.30, it moved back to 6-7.30, but said 6-7.30 in BOTH pocketbreeze AND the calendar.
to confuse matters more, i *think* (i'm at work right now so i'm not 100% sure) that the times that are showing in pocketbreeze are the same times that are showing in outlook.
SO - this is basically it: any appointments i make in the calendar on the phone appear in pocketbreeze and outlook one hour early. appointments i make in outlook appear correct in all 3.
i've double checked the regional settings and both my phone and computer are set to the same place. can anyone shed any light on this odd issue?
You are certainly not alone. I've seen this reported on this board a few times. I do not recall the solution but perhaps you can try a few searches perhaps using advanced options on things like synchronisation time etc.
I do remember various theories about this but not one that came to a definitive conclusion. One for example was that the phone company was sending auto sync info of the wrong time zone for the area (ie not wrong time just zone). This seemed to be most reported in parts of Australia it might help to search on some of the time zone abbreviations.

hi mike - thanks for your help. i ended up finding something on whirlpool.net.au
for anyone else with this problem (i think its specific to my phone, jasjam, and my carrier, telstra) the solution was:
Go to Start, Settings, Phone.
Scroll right until you get to the time zone tab on the bottom.
Uncheck the “Automatic change time zone and clock.” Option
Then go to the today screen and select the time.
Change the time up a couple of hours and press ok and Yes to save the time.
Go back and fix the Time and Time Zone to correct setting,
Again press ok and yes to save the time, this will commit this to the ROM and fix the time settings.

Thank you benzothegreat for providing this feedback and summarising the conclusion, cheers.

This works!!!
I have a T-Wing, WM6 and I was having the same problem, the reminders for bdays showing up one day earlier..and noticed that the issue was only for dates were the DST applied . I'm not that concerned about outlook showing duplicate bday reminders , but I do care about showing them on the wrong date..... long story short.. here is the fix:
1. Goto http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=E343A233-B9C8-4652-9DD8-AE0F1AF62568&displaylang=en and download the Microsoft Office Outlook Tool: Time Zone Data Update Tool for Microsoft Office Outlook
2. Follow instructions and install.
3. After instalation completed, goto start -> all programs -> Microsoft office outlook tools -> Time Zone Data Update Tool -> Time Zone Daylight Savings Update Mode
4. It will update your appointments/ reminders (including bday reminders) and show them on the right date!
Hi all,
With my Mogul WM6 device, when I receive a meeting invite via email, WM6 Outlook will identify that as a meeting invite and allows me to open the email and click "Accept".
However, I noted that EVERY single invite I receive is always off by 1 hour. Example:
- meeting invite sent via Outlook 2003/2007 for appointment at 1:00 PM
- email invite received in Mogul as an email and when opened, appointment time is for 12:00 PM
- When I opened the same email invite in my Outlook 2003/2007 or GMail, the appointment time is correct (1:00 PM).
So the issue seems to apply to the Mogul only. I checked the following:
- timezone is correct
- Time Synchronization is NOT checked
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Login to Outlook Web Access and see what time zone you're account is set to.
Both Exchange (from Outlook) and Outlook Web Access (OWA) are set to the correct timezone (PST).
maybe?
This is just a thought ... could it be you need the Daylight Savings Time update? Maybe it got lost along the way or something ...

I'm wrong a lot, so this may not help at all.
there is also a Feb 2008 cab I have on my phone for DST update for leapyear. I could e-mail it to you if you want.

I installed the 2007 DST update, but I don't see it in the device Add/Remove program.
I PM'ed you for the 2008 DST update.
sent! hope it helps.
I applied the 2008 DST update and still no go. But I found something else:
I had my friend sending a meeting invite from his Outlook and lo and behold, the hour was NOT off by 1 hour. So it looks like my laptop / Outlook configuration is messed up.
However, I checked the Timezone on the following and they are all correct:
- Outlook 2003
- Windows
- Outlook Web Access
I wonder what else I need to check?
I've recently discovered the exact same problem on my Mogul. I've done some research and tried all the recommended updates, ect. but have had no luck in resolving the issue.
Any other recommendations beyond checking the time zones on both the Mogul and the PC, installing the DST update on the Mogul, switching back and forth between time zones on the Mogul?
Nothing seems to have worked so far.
same here on my ATT 8525 WM6.1
This is crazy. I dealt with the exact same issue last March with my Wm5 8125.
I can't believe that I'm having to go through this again with Microsoft. I'm sorry, but this is just a silly thing not to have fixed by now.
I was able to get around it a little by switching my time zone from plain Eastern - 5 over to Eastern (Indiana) -5.
I think they don't quite subscribe to the new DST dates so it's a temp patch until the rest of the country catches up on the normal date then I can probably switch it back. (Reminds me of The Langoliers - ever see that movie? )
I had the Calendar issue where holidays were shown one day too early - for example New Year Day was on 31st December. Somehow I managed to fix this by downloading a DST fix for Outlook and the PPC.
Yesterday I did a hard reset and I am in the process of loading everything back. I can't manage to fix the Calendar. Whatever I do it shows the holidays one day too early. The same fix is not working this time.
Does anybody know how to fix this?
Joe
What about other appointments, does it show one day too early too ?
Have a read on this: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/microsoft/daylight-savings-update.mspx
Maybe you just missed a few steps or have to redo the whole thing.
HTH.
to azahidi - yes it affects all "all-day" appointments and holidays in the daylight saving period.
to izzyzc - yes that is what I did: removed the DST update from PC and the phone, removed and ended Active Synch relationship, connected the phone to the PC, installed the update on PC and the phone, set up a new relationship and synchronized the Calendar. Everything is OK now.
