I have installed Smart2go software from Nokia on my 8525, but it does not work for Eastern Europe. I tried different ways of installing it (device, storage card) and there was no change; it will not download anything for Eastern Europe or even access maps stored on the card. Thanks.

So here is the procedure of getting rid of T-Mobile's customization:
The whole proccess means you will do a hard reset and you will be installing everything from the beggining! So if you don't want that to happen you have to stay with T-Mobile's customization!
Step 1
Hard reset your MDA Compact (power+soft reset). Do all the neccesary steps (choosing your country and timezone) and when you get in the screen that tells you to tap the screen in order to start working have your stylus at the soft-reset hole tap the screen with your finger and do a soft reset IMMMEDIAELY AFTER YOU TAP THE SCREEN!
Step 2
Your MDA compact will restart without any customization it will be a clean Windows Mobile 2003SE. With the file manager go to the Extended ROM folder that is now visible and install the following files:
Caller_ID_WWE_RC10.CAB
Camera_Patch_WWE_B15.sa.CAB
GPRSMonitor_WWE.sa.CAB
Java_10.1.2.57_WWE.CAB
MMS_2.0.0.13_WWE.CAB
MMS_Settings_WWE_NL.CAB (This file will install the settings of T-Mobile NL but if you don't install it and then change the settings to your providers settings most probably will end up with MMS that does not work. So install those settings and change them accordingly to your providers settings)
Patch_101123.sa.CAB
Version_WWE_101124.sa.CAB
Zip_Magician_T-Mobile_WWE_B12.CAB
Those are all the files you need to install. For those who need intellipad and intellidialer they will also have to install the 2 files for those programs.

intellidialler does not work
I have a T-mobile MDA Compact in the UK.
If I follow these instructions it works fine - thanks. (SOme of the CAB files are UK versions or have later version numbers.
1. Is there a list anywhere of what each of these CAB files does?
2. The Dialler becomes crappy (formatting numbers in the US way, and not searching for contacts). The default microsoft colours are much more intuitive for showing missed calls/received calls etc in the recent calls list than the T-mobile palette, but i can't make the dialler search the address book in the very clever way it usually does. The intillidialler won't install either.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Nigel.
Has anyone found decent versions of intellipad and intellidialler to install after doing the debrand on a UK Compact?
Quick question, i did all this and it worked fine for me, orange sim is working happily away when i unlocked the device via IMEI check and installed the orange rom but i've lost the clearvue products suite. I've looked in the extended rom partition but i can't find it
love this thing tho...still fiddling with it 2 months down the line
and how do i get the default microsoft colours?

Can you tell me where can i find all those CAB's and intellipad and intellidialer CAB's. Please because I'm a new about this stuff
I read in the manual:
"A SIM card must be inserted in your device in order to use this feature,
which allows you to access a range of information services provided by
your service provider.
1. Tap Start > Programs > STK Service icon. A list of provided
services appears.
2. To access a service, tap the item in the list."
But there is no STK Service icon in Programs of my device. My sim card is MTS.
This icon depends on your provider, in my wizard, it's listed as 'smsdiensten' (sms services in dutch). Icon looks like a blank file icon in windows, with something sim-looking on it. (Not sim manager though)
Thank you for your answer, tomasz.
What is the name of your GSM operator?
What is the version and the language of of firmware of your Qtek 9100?
I have T-Mobile NL, on an english Qtek firmware (AKU2 test version).
The sim-toolkit shortcut, however, is in dutch, because it is initiated from the dutch sim, i think.

The Signed_Wiz_TM_STK.sa.CAB file (from TMO's Extende ROM) installs the SimToolKit. Could it be your using the dutch Extended_ROM from TMO? It would explain why it's in dutch and possibly why a QTEK might not have the program installed.
what all does the sim tool kit let you do? I'd like to backup all my contacts to my sim, but the sim manager program on my 9100 doesn't do that. Is STK different than SM?
I use it for switching between SIMS in a dual-sim adapter configuration. Dunno what else you can use it for.

I have only the qtek ext rom installed, however, I have run a cab with provider settings for sms/voicemail/gprs etc. Maybe that installed it.
It allows me to use sms services my provider offers (weather/news/etc)
Signed_Wiz_TM_STK.sa.CAB installs the sim toolkit.
What it does is unveil the operator specific (paid) services that are on the sim.
If you have the appropiate dual sim adapter instead of the operator specific services you get the dual-sim specific services instead (to ie. switch sims).
Hey
we have tried to install the .net compact soft ware onto a wizzard it shows that it has been downlaod but programs will no run as it say's it has not been installed. We have rung the microsoft help desk but they don't want to know. So if anyone here is running the same software or know how to install it please help us out.
Cheers
Telecom St Lukes
Make sure you have latest version of NET installed v2.0.
Better intalled on main memory and quote from other member
'It installs fine on the SD card.... or main memory.... whatever... you must temporarily turn off all your today plugins, reboot, and then install CF2.0 before launching any other apps. I exit things like wisbar too, just to be sure.
After install, turn your plugins back on.... works every time. This is a known issue with the CF2.0 installer, btw... MSFT is trying to fix it in the next release'.
hope this helps
Hi everybody,
could I install blackberry on extended ROM?
does anybody tried to install any application
on extended rom or ext.rom is usable only
for storing cab files in case of hard reset?
I have 8 MB free, so I am thinking to release
some main memory.
thanx
hey, nobody knows?? pls, does anybody install anything
on Extended rom??
Yes you can
Hi there,
I have been using the Uni for some time successfully without much problems. You can install the blackberry (BB) service on the Ext Rom but if you get a lot of messages with attachments etc. then the memory space in the ExtRom being just 9.9 MB would get filled up soon. I use both the BB RIM and BBES services on 2 different phones a XDA Exec and a T-mobile MDA Pro. One in India with Bharti Cellular as Service Provider (BB-RIM) and one in UK with T-mobile as service provider(BB-BES) service. It works fine for me. Wish there was a way to change the default storage folder for the BB mails. Don't install it on the SD card cause the moment the phone switches off the SD card is switched off too and the BB service will go off too. The only option is to install it in the main storage memory or if you have an unlocked ExtRom then there .
Also if you hard reset then the apps will stop working cause on hard reset the registry is cleared of installs other than the windows installs. You will have to re-install BB if you do a hard reset.
Ciao
thx on answer,
I know that is bad to install on sd card because if you turn off
device, sd card is turned off too.
I didn't know that extended rom is always on.
thanx on answer

Tell us more. What are your troubles? What is the ver. of your downloaded TT? Do you have Active Sync connection?

Hi andy76sz
Thanks for replying. Basically, the instruction file that came with tomtom advises to "execute the cab file on your pda". I have transferred all the files to the memory card through Active Sync. When I browse to the folder that the instructions say to go to, none of the files will execute.
I just wanted to know if I was on the right track or whether there is some special way of installing applications.
There is no special way of installing TT. Try to execute the files on your pc with the Active Sync connection active. What are the names of files? Where did you get files from?
