A few nights ago my mda locked up and all I could do was soft resets. nothing else. was forced to hard reset and lost all contacts. activesync 4.1 wouldn't restore them because partnership was lost. when I connected phone to pc, it created a new profile and my files folder disappeared from my desktop. I rolled windows xp back to the day before it happened and my folder was back, but nothing with contacts. spent 2 hrs on phone with very pleasant T-mobile tech in pda dept. (beautiful voice, so had to keep her on the phone) trying to solve issue. if anyone can help please do, if it cannot be done, can the files containing the contacts and calendar entries be copied back onto my unit, or outlook? (and where are they?) I appreciate any and all help and input.

the contacts and calender shouldn't be a problem to restore, unless they are gone from your outlook folders, check there first, if they're not there, then they're gone, nothing you can do that i know of. just simply reestablish a partnerships, and they should sync after a few mins. hope u got it sorted.

when u sync with the computer, active sync automaticly puts all the data u chose u sync into outlook. start outlook, then have a look around (in contacts and calender) to see if any of your stuff is there.

1) do you want to combine contacts from pc to device
2)do you want to remove contacts from device and sync with outlook
3) donot do anything at this time.
so i press option 1
And now i lost my new contacts from my device which i have added in last 2 months.
i can only see contacts which i had in my outlook.
is there any way i can do undo or something so i can get my contacts back in my device?
Plz help if someone knows?

Using active sync it's sending older contacts to my phone which i do not want on there (this was when i previously used a nokia and sync'ed them).
How do i go about deleting old contacts on my PC, to ensure they are not transferred when sync'ing?

Delete your olders contacts from whatever programme they are in. i.e. if they are on MS Outlook, delete them, or Hotmail...delete them

Ive been looking for the folder its self on the phone also with no luck, but i shall keep probing away.

this fine little tool might help you out
http://www.sugata.eu/products/pocketoutlook-eraser/
There's no way to select contacts for sync AFAIK, but you can create multiple contact lists in outlook, and only the primary one will be synced.

Hey this may be a stupid question but I did a search and I can't find an answer.
I have just upgraded to a new version of windows (7 Ultimate) and I want to copy all my PIM details back to my computer from my HD2.
I have set up a sync relationship same as I have done 1000 times before after a hard reset but for some reason all the information will not download to my computer.
It starts a sync but then stops and tells me that appointments failed to download.
Anyone able to guide me in the right direction?
Thanks
Have you completed setting up your MS outlook? it wont sync until outlook has been setup .

I had yes, but now I have an even bigger problem.
It wiped my device.
Then to make things worse I went to myphone to get everything back and it wiped that as well.
Not happy.
Anyone know how to extract the info from the windows.old folder that it left when I upgraded.

Hi,
when you say that it wiped the devices, was like a hardware reset or did it did give you get the error stating that all the synchoronisable data on your phone would be deleted? I had that when I first tried to synchornise on Windows 7. I turned out that I cannot sync Tasks at all to either Outlook or Google and it deleted all synchonisable data (and the message it showed told me that would happen, which was helpful in an annoyingw way). I'm afarid I cannot now remember if it delete all my synchorinisable data on my computer too. Have you tried restoring your MyPhone files from the online Archive. This worked perfectly for me when all my synchrionisable data on my device was removed. Of coutrse if all data from your phone was deleted and not just the synchronisable data then I'm afraid I do know how to help (I'm guessing data will be in an OutLook folder for synchronisable data but you said "all data was deleted).
I hope this does help you.
Regards.

Glad you got it sorted.
HTC sync suddenly started creating duplicates in the phone calendar (there were no duplicates in Outlook). So, I deleted the Calendar Storage on the phone, planning to resynchronize the calendar from Outlook.
But, now, HTC Sync suddenly won't synchronize any of my events, the calendar on the phone is completely empty. It says that it's synchronizing, but it just doesn't. WHAT THE HECK?
HTC sync has never worked terribly well, but I'm getting tired of this piece of GARBAGE.
Update: I think solved the problem. I deleted the phone profile, recreated it and it seems to sync now (my calendar data is back on my phone, anyway).
HTC Sync doesn't include a built-in way to delete a phone profile, so to delete it manually:
1. close HTC Sync if it's running
2. delete the folder C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\HTC (on Vista or Win7, it's C:\Users...)
3. Start HTC sync, re-establish the connection to your phone and synchronize it
Hopefully this helps someone who is as fed up as I am with the way the phones manage PIM data these days.
Seriously, Microsoft Pocket PC and ActiveSync actually worked very well. Calendar and contact data management and sync is piss-poor on today's phones.

:good::good::good:
Thanks a lot. Worked for me too.
Win7 path I used: C:\Users\<name>\AppData\Roaming\HTC
Thanks for the solution.. I was turning nut trying to find out hwat happened... I started to think that my PST was corrupt...
In my case the NON sync was for the contacts folder, I dont use calendar... I followed these instructions and worked like a charm...
Btw, this is also applyable for all HTC models using HTC sync... I own a Sensation.
Thanks!

On my Droid RAZR, the calender was set to show the phone calender. Entries I made on my phone were no longer synching to google calender. I had to change the phone settings to only show the google calender. Then manually move my phone entries into google calender. This happened after the update some time in February, but I only noticed recently. It was a pain to go back and find all the entries that were on the phone and not on google. With the phone set to not show the phone calender, my calender entries now do go to the google calender and show up on my other devices and online.
Another issue is that all of my appointments changed times with the Spring daylight savings time taking place. I had to change my Google Calender to use daylight savings time. This didn't fix my phone calender though. Then check that my phone was set to use daylight savings time which it was. Don't know when this change happened as I was an original Droid owner, then bought into the Droid RAZR, and all of a sudden in 2013 my calender changes times on me. Must have something to do with an Android time setting that changed. For now I'm putting the time in the name of the calender entry so I know if Google screws it up later.
One would think that they would triple check that calender entries are not modified by doing a phone software update. I give them -1 star for Jelly Bean updates. Horrible.
