thanks, but i need it for video capture
it does it just click the left arrow and it switches to video...it can record in 640x480, 320x240, 320x176(widescreen), 640x...(again wide) can set fps and etc
CorePlayer and TCPMP does not support DirectDraw RGB mode and ATI ImageOn Video Accleration, after turn on the this option the screen can not display correctly, it seem have typhoon run on the screen.
Only DirectDraw YV12 YUY2 mode and Raw FrameBuffer can rendering correctly, but the performance on playing 640x480 DivX video is very terrible. The average speed only got 45%-70%.
I found some information in corecode forum TYTN and Hermes seem fixed some bug. but that method can not apply on Athena.
What setting are others using. I've tried running a 600x320 movie with Core player 0.81. It was very slow and stuttery.

my movie on tcpmp runs very smooth, full scrren with sound all sets to highest quality. no problem at all.
Using TCPMP, latest version. video playback is unwatchable, audio is fine but video is jerky, 1 frame per second or worse.
Wu5262, can you post the settings you are using please.

Video quality set to highest
video driver set to Raw FrameBuffer
Audio set to Stereo
Audio Drive use Wave output
Sound and movie play very very well, no delay at all. Let me know if you have different result.
Perfect! I had the video driver set wrong.
Working perfectly now, many thanks.
Great that works for me too.
Also guys & gals..tick the box for Micro drive in the settings dialogue...it helps. Has anybody managed to get DVD quality yet? If so, please give more info like encoded resolution, bit rate and codec used and application used for encoding.
Most of my old movies were encoded to 320x240 @ 600kbps and looked like DVD quality on my QVGA Hermes, but those same movies play very well on the Ameo, buy are stretched to smitherines and don't look good at all.
I've now tried using DVD-Ripped files (same encoding process as torrents) and these look absolutely beautiful, but are wide screen format so don't fill the entire screen. It benchtested at around 118% on Coreplayer and looks slightly better than on TCPMP which strangely benches at a slightly better 120%.
Another few suggestions:
In Coreplayer preferences:
Untick 'Slow video memory' & Tick 'Override AVI timing based on audio'.
Under Video I have selected:
Video: Rawframebuffer mode
Video Quality: High
Smooth Zoom: On
Don't Tick 'Dither' as it seems to cause the movie to look worse.
Good luck.
Here is my setting in CorePlayer 1.04 Build 716
1000Kbps 640 x 480 DivX Movie. Speed is reasonable.
~~DirectDraw Page~~
Overlay format: YV12 **** Remember must set this option first******
~~Video Page~~
Video output: ATI IMAGEON
Video Quality: High
Smooth Zoom: On
Dither: OFF
Accleration: OFF
P.S. We can't get the full performance on No DirectDraw overlay in RGB and ATI ImageOn with accleration,
But there have BUG in ATI ImageOn decoder in CorePlayer because ATI did not disclose the ImageOn structure.

Thanks for that Simdao...those settings you got do actually produce much better performance results. No lost frames now and benchtest has risen from 118% to 145% on coreplayer!!
Bare in mind people that I'm using proper DVD rips in which the video resolution is and bit rate is considerably higher than for 320x240 mp4s or equvalent Divx files....those files should yield benchtest results og 280% - 300%+.
This is great...only problem with the ATI Imageon software renderer is that you get some 'minor distortion' in interface mode...but perfection in full screen mode. Cheers mate.
Bloody ATI ****e...

Take that back. ATI has screwed up coreplayer today...I can't even get to change the settings as it crashes all the time even with soft-resetting the device!
TCPMP seems more stable in allowing me to change settings back to Rawframebuffer mode. Problems are definitely not resolved with ATI and Coreplayer or TCPMP....here we go again.

Is there any real fix to this problem ?
Are you guys able to play DIVX movies with quality ? our any TV SERIES ?
This might be the main reason that i am not going to buy the HTC Athena since there isnt any real and final fix for this problem that comes from the TYTN ..... why cant ATI help with this ? ....
dammmm
Mine seems to play ok. The picture even looks good through the vga port.
so you guys are saying that playback so far of call files have perfect video quality with no conversion nesessary?
DVD Rips look perfect!!

What I'm saying is that Torrent DVD-Rips...search for ''axxo" rips on torrentspy.com (his rips are near on perfect), are absolutely perfect looking on the Athena. Comparable to DVD or even High def quality!!
Benching at 160%+ now too in TCPMP, but Coreplayer 1.04 has no AC3 audio support...hence the switch back to TCPMP 0.72RC....NO Conversion of video file necessary.
Hi ! Is there a way to record video at 320x240 with the Prophet ? (my unit is the S200). Possibly by using software or something ? (normally the max resolution for video recording on the S200 is 176x144, which is kind of strange considering that S100 and other HTC/Qtek even older models are capable of recording at 320x240 resolution)
Many thanks.
anybody ?
Coolcamera can switch resolution up to 640x480.
Unfortunately the framerate drops to 10fps @320 and 4fps @640 what is not so great.
I am wondering also why other devices are so much better with video..maybe therer is a different solution out there using also the Intel graphicsprozessor onboard.
If anybody has a better solution i am interested in it also.
there was a bug once
before i upgraded ROM it showed 320x240 video resolution option but did record in the small (140x80 or sth). After upgrading I thought they would fix it but instead they just removed the option!!
are new's about de SW to use a 320x240 video resolution ??
use CoolCamera, you can use 320x240 but the framerate will probably be low. I found that framerate depends especially on SD card speed. So the SD card is the bottleneck. If you use hi-speed SD card framerate should be accetable. Good ligting is also very important
Well, I think there is way to record an 16:9 video size (in iPhone 3GS can record HD if you want). no problem I don't need HD, but can't we record as 16:9 video size?
Because as you see as in HTC HD Mini has only 4:3 video sizes, let the resolution be lower but record as 16:9 size.
I need this for viewing on 16:9 TVs, and not having always problems about stretch it or looks like fat humans
Thanks
Well, does it make pancakes?(my oven does if you want) )))))))))))))
once you asked to view HD videos, now you want 16:9 video recording.........
dudeeeeeeeeeeee this is a phoneee, not a desktop, laptop or HD video camera!!!
p.s even some old desktops/laptops will not play HD videos lol
tzacapaca,
I don't mean HD! and I don't mean record HD high resolution 16:9 !.
I mean 16:9 size at LOW resolution that can fit TV without any effect of fat
for example: the phone has 640x480 and lower (and it's all 4:3) and I mean here can't we record as 640x360? (and this will be as 16:9) or let be lower, ex: 520x240.
I said again I don't mean HD (1280x720 and it's 16:9) I know the phone hasn't enough power.
I mean Record Wide video (16:9) at low resolution
You can record at 640x480 and then crop.

I Can't Crop always the videos!
isn't there to switch as 640x360? custom?
is that SO Hard that we can't change resolution Camera in WindowsMobile?
Cropping thingy..
As of the moment, I do cropping of my videos to make it widescreen (16:9). I cant find any apps that will automatically record videos using that ratio. I used VirtualDub to do the cropping of the height to make it widescreen..
Heres my calculation:
640*480 (original)
16:9 = 640:(?)
640 * 9 ÷ 16 = 360 (the final height)
16:9 = 640:(360)
480(original) - 360(calculation) = 120 (height to be cropped)
120 ÷ 2 = 60
Crop (Top and Bottom): 60
I think it was mentioned above. I just expanded it.
1-Download and open VirtualDub
2-Drag and drop the recorded video into the app
3-Press Ctrl+F from the keyboard (this will open Filters)
4-Click "Add...". Scroll down then select "null transform" and hit OK
5-Click "Cropping" then input 60 on Y1 and Y2 offset and hit OK below. Hit OK again.
6-Press F7 on the keyboard to save your work as an AVI
I hope I helped - Anric Capa Urmeneta
Thanks uanric,
but what I was need is automatically record at 640x360 and without needing to crop after recording.
And I want that on Android, WindowsMobile is dead.
but I think I will fix that for next years on Android of course!
Is there anything I can do to change the video recording format from the 3gp that the atrix is using. I owed a captivate before and the rom I was using had it changed to a more preferable format. Any advice is appreciated. thanks
hit the menu button in the camera change the recording resolution and format
If you record in 720p it records the video in MP4 format automatically.
I am set to 720p and it is doing 3gp
