Well, I bought an O2 XDA Exec. After some issues I'm up and running. I've upgraded to WM6 and loving it. Now, I really don't want to read through million pages of the recommended software thread. Can you guys recommend the best of the best? I'm mainly looking for freeware games and stuff.

Hi guys,
I've only noticed this forum over the last two days (and only decide I was getting an XDA on 5th July) but I have found it to be very friendly (unlike certain xbox forums) and I think you guys want to make us n00bs enjoy our XDA. Here we go then
I've decided to opt for an XDA IIi over the IIs due to the better proccessor.
So, I'm going to get one over Ebay unless someone on here can help.
So it's likely to be running WM 2003 so is there a thread on how to update it (english lang). Any decent apps and whats the latest version of Quake??? I love that game
So, Thanks guys
Hi folks, its almost time for my annual upgrade for my O2 contract so im very keen to get myself an XDA Mini s.
So without having to trawl through another 6 million threads on ROM updates and which is the best, would someone please be kind enough to tell me ?
My current phone is the XDA IIi which isnt too bad but i want a phone sized device now, the IIi was far too bulky for me. The Wizard (variant) will be used simply as a phone, ie i wont be installing TomTom on it, i'll use the XDA IIi for that instead.
So programs i would run will be SPBPocketplus and nothing much else (unless recommended)
Cheers in advance, and yup i had been looking arround to find Info before i created this thread, after the 10th thread ROM versions kinda blur.
I'm planning on getting an o2 xda mini s next week as i've gone tired of using an ordinary phone and wanted to spoil myself with a smartphone. So basically what do i do when i first use the Wizard? I've heard alot about the opearting system being too slow and to make it fast is to install it on Basic but what i wanted to know is there any advice on anything else to make my first experience with a pda phone enjoyable? I mean are there any good software out there for me to download or something? Perhaps Agile messenger or games? And i'm planning on buying a 1GB mini card, is it worth it or should i get a 2GB straightaway?
Thanks in advance to the people who are willing to give me any advice
Oh yeah, what is Qtek Rom and all that? Do i need to install it too?
Cheers
hi,
My best advice is get the Mini S and see how you feel it runs for you and whatever you need out of it before looking to flash the rom etc, I think you may find it nice and stable and if its a new device, its more than likely got one of the later ROMs installed on it.
Killer apps: Sat Nav? Are you planning on that?
There are some good downloads available (skins and freeware etc at www.4winmobile.com)
Hope that helps!

Hi there.
This thread will help you tell you how to max you new mini s. http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=46493
Plus if you can afford go for 2gb - the more the better for all those music files, movies, programs. Mine is from mobymemory 2gb = £50 now highly recommended.
Qtek is a brand of wizard, like what i own. The above thread should explain this but your new mini s should come with an up to date rom anyhow. Better to off-load some of the O2 stuff that will slow the device down.
Enjoy!
Hey all
Wasn't sure where would be best to post this so thought id post it in the most likely one!
I'm close to buying a 'pda-phone' and i have a choice between the XDA II or the XDA IIi,
i know (from the forums) that the XDA II can be upgraded to WM5, and that development is pretty much 'current' (i.e there are AKU3 roms available) so would it be best for me to go with one of these?
I currently have a Qtek 8310 and an I-Mate SP3i (which is of course running a WM5 rom!)
could users of either of these PDA's please advise me which is better.
I'd be using the PDA-phone mainly for calling (have sim with free minutes! ), reading E-Books (do a LOT of this, so quality of the screen is important) and watching movies if the device is fast enough!
could anybody who has/or does do any of the above please tell me of your experiences with this device.
THANK YOU!
Hi there
I'm a bit new to xda's, I've just inherited an o2 exec. After playing around with it for a while it's flaws start to shine through quite brightly. From what I have read on here I need to flash the rom as a starter, but before I turn this thing into a brick I just wanted to ask a few questions.
1. From the guide I read, the imate 30 September rom is the best one to use, but that guide was made some time ago. Is this still the case?
2. If so is there anything different that I can expect installing on the o2 exec or is the only difference between the devices the hardware.
3. Any tips on where I might be able to pick this up from would be well received.
4. I live in China, apparently there are now all three types of 3g phone networks available, does this device work better with one type of network and not with another?
Much Gratitude

Welcome to the forum
1. The best ROM is the one that fits your personal needs, try several till you find the right one! (Personally I recommend Tomal 8.5)
2. If oyu have your original ROM is wm5, on this great forum you can find fantastic ROM´s 6, 6.1 and even 6.5 beta, so yes there aremuch different!
3. First of all please READ the Wiki: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Universal
Then search for the ROM you want on Universal forum, if you don´t know which then READ the members opinions
4. Uni has 3G for europe and Asia, so I don´t think you´ll have a problem with this
Good luck,
thanks so much
i have had a good read of the wiki but i am still a bit unsure about a couple of things. once i have these cleared up i'm gonna jump in.
so any rom will work on any unit (ie xda, dupod, jarjar)? Is there no difference whatsoever between the different brands?
also how does the speed of windows mobile 6 compare with 5?
thanks again
ignore me.....bit the bullet an went for it, every thing is fine and wm6.1 is running about 6 and a half billion times faster than 5 was
