XDA II/IIi, difference, which one? - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Hey all
Wasn't sure where would be best to post this so thought id post it in the most likely one!
I'm close to buying a 'pda-phone' and i have a choice between the XDA II or the XDA IIi,
i know (from the forums) that the XDA II can be upgraded to WM5, and that development is pretty much 'current' (i.e there are AKU3 roms available) so would it be best for me to go with one of these?
I currently have a Qtek 8310 and an I-Mate SP3i (which is of course running a WM5 rom!)
could users of either of these PDA's please advise me which is better.
I'd be using the PDA-phone mainly for calling (have sim with free minutes! ), reading E-Books (do a LOT of this, so quality of the screen is important) and watching movies if the device is fast enough!
could anybody who has/or does do any of the above please tell me of your experiences with this device.
THANK YOU!

Getting an XDA IIi very soon

Hi guys,
I've only noticed this forum over the last two days (and only decide I was getting an XDA on 5th July) but I have found it to be very friendly (unlike certain xbox forums) and I think you guys want to make us n00bs enjoy our XDA. Here we go then
I've decided to opt for an XDA IIi over the IIs due to the better proccessor.
So, I'm going to get one over Ebay unless someone on here can help.
So it's likely to be running WM 2003 so is there a thread on how to update it (english lang). Any decent apps and whats the latest version of Quake??? I love that game
So, Thanks guys

RE: New to these forums and my yet to arrive XDA Mini S!
Hello everyone I am new to these forums, the place looks like a huge wealth of information.
I've just bought myself an O2 XDA Mini S, I'm waiting for it to be delivered and I have a few questions i'd like to ask about it.
1) I have an IPAQ hx4700 (WM2003SE) which includes a bluetooth manager than enables me to browse other bluetooth devices using a remote file manager. Does the Wizard have this ability on WM5?
2) What is the best ROM available I could maybe use for the XDA Mini S?
3) I want to buy a screen protector for it, which are the best ones to get?
Thanks in advance for all your replies
Kris
1. yes
2. the rom you already get in the mini s. just select the 'basic' option when you switch it on for the first time.
3. don't know. but these guys will shortly be supplying one, and they are normally good quality:

Up to date, Up to speed ...

Hi folks, its almost time for my annual upgrade for my O2 contract so im very keen to get myself an XDA Mini s.
So without having to trawl through another 6 million threads on ROM updates and which is the best, would someone please be kind enough to tell me ?
My current phone is the XDA IIi which isnt too bad but i want a phone sized device now, the IIi was far too bulky for me. The Wizard (variant) will be used simply as a phone, ie i wont be installing TomTom on it, i'll use the XDA IIi for that instead.
So programs i would run will be SPBPocketplus and nothing much else (unless recommended)
Cheers in advance, and yup i had been looking arround to find Info before i created this thread, after the 10th thread ROM versions kinda blur.

O2 XDA Exec

Well, I bought an O2 XDA Exec. After some issues I'm up and running. I've upgraded to WM6 and loving it. Now, I really don't want to read through million pages of the recommended software thread. Can you guys recommend the best of the best? I'm mainly looking for freeware games and stuff.

[Q] XDA 2i/ Alipine

Hi i've just bought a XDA 2i/ Alipine as a cheap phone as i put my HD7 through the wash. Not too good i know. Whats the latest ROM that i can put on it EG WM6.5 ETC and how do i do it and where abouts are the links for downloads?
LOL of all the old HTC phones u could have get, u end up getting the one that has never been any custom updated rom (not even WM5 ), sorry mate, but i think u have better luck with the good ol' blue angel, or even the magician as i think they have at least WM 6 on it
P/S not sure whats the update now, as i own the alpine years back, u might wanna check the alpine section in the legacy device section of the forum just in case i am wrong
Assuming you do have an Alpine and not a Himalaya, sorry to say it but the latest for the Alpine is WM2003, somewhere I may have the latest UK-O2 ROM.
I still have my Alpine and a Himalaya which I have upgraded to WM6.5. battery life on both is woeful.
Have to ask, why an Alpine given the plethora of newer devices on EBay?
Hi thanks for the reply. It's because im at UNiversity and my phone broke so i just thought get a cheap phone which the XDA2i/ Alpine was about £20 so i just bought it as it had wireless meant that i could use it for the internet, texting, calling and email.
