Hi
i have a question on my tmobile mda in usa can i use black berry plan instead of $29.99 total internet package by tmobile please do reply to me if you know anything about it
Thanks
i have the blackberry plan. you won't be able to use the tmail email but you can set your own email server in pocket outlook
Im not sure how you want to use it, but all i wanted to do was surf the web and check my web-email on my MDA, and that 29.99 data plan seems rediculous. What I did was went online, and signed up for the "Tmobile Web" 5.99 package which supposedly allows you to use tmobiles portal for ringers and news ect. The thing is, i have full web access under that plan, i checked for any speed differences and couldn't find a thing wrong.
You do need to "trick" tmobiles website in order for someone with a MDA to get on there tmobile web plan, i told the site i switched my phone to a razr,(They have that little deal up to that tells you what phone your useing, and u can change it without really changing your phone) then went to plans, got rid of that 29.99 plan and added the 5.99, confirmed it, and switched back to mda, now my bills 30 bucks cheaper, and i have no less connection as far as i can tell.
Tmobile question for triple
What are your settings??? I try to browse the web and it doesnt work. I switched my phone online to a razr too.
Thanks!

Well, I went through just this today with our business account. Bought a Vario at the store for a colleague and they automatically moved the device from the BB plan to the Internet plan at $29.99 as of course they don't support BB Connect so we couldn't possibly need it for that. Returned to office, blew out the ROM with the UK Ship, BB Connect etc. Phone TMO, switched the plan on the SIM to the $19.99 BB plan and bingo, full net access, unlimited downloads for streaming media and BB services. You gotta wonder at their insane pricing plans really....LOL
dude i have cingular and the plans are just as expensive if not more expensive..
because my 8125 is considered a pda.. i cant even use the basic web packages they offer..
have to get a full fledged data plan
the T-MobileWeb only allows you to route your HTTP traffic through their HTTP proxy server... all other ports are closed off.. its not so bad if you just need to surf the net but don't plan on your messengers or anything else working. I currently have an MPx220 so I don't quite know the settings you would need to set it up on a PPC.
The BB plan works fine with MSN Messenger and MSN Mobile etc (plus agile messenger and others)
hey fellows the black berry plan is working like a dream on my tmobile mda
Hey,
My friend's phone has (free) Internet access. I doubt it's free but I know she doesn't have a data plan, and she claims she isn't getting any usage charges for accessing the Internet. She's had Cingular for a few years now. Do they offer pay-as-you-use Internet?
Anyway, I'm wondering if I could somehow establish a connection with her phone and then access the Internet. Possibly Bluetooth? I'm using the Wing (HTC Herald).
Generally phones that have BT can function as BT modem. The paring on your side should be pretty straight forward but setting up your friends phone (not a WM device right?) depends on its model.
Yeah I posted the message because I couldn't get it working. I thought I had everything set up correctly on my phone. I probably... I just have to set hers up correctly. She has a Nokia N75 - http://www.nseries.com/index.html#l=products,n75
Anyone have any experience with this?
Cingular does have pay as you go, it is very expensive like 1.5cents per k. This ads up in an awful hurry. If this is a new account for your friend, you should check online and see if she is racking up data usage. If so add a data plan before the billing cycle ends. Can be done through cs and they will make it retroactive.
N75 should work as a modem with the HTC Wing without a problem.
I rarely come up to see a data plan in US that have unlimited data access btw
Oh also btw, theres a simpler solution to just insert your friend's sim card into your T-mobile Wing (as long as its unlocked ). Cingular and T-mobile both use GSM anywayz (not like Sprint or Verizon using CDMA).
I've spent countless hours on the phone with T-mobile customer care, days searching the net. I tried basically every single setting possible and no matter what I do I can't connect to the internet or send MMS on my Tilt at all. Does anyone have any Idea how to get wap or mms working for t-mobile on windows mobile 6.1?

I'm hoping that you already have a data plan, if not then you might want to add it by calling the Tmobile or just add it by logging through the website. This is what I use on mine:
Go to Start>Settings>Connections>Add or Manage new connection and on Access Point Name (APN) wap.voicestream.com and hit next and just click finish.
Good Luck
thanks for the help
I had the 5.99 t-zones package which worked fine on windows mobile 6.0. After flashing 6.1 It wouldn't work and I do have the access point set to wap.voicestream.com, I'm not one to just post a question without doing my research. I tried numerous different settings and followed numerous tutorials but nothing works. I finally resorted to ordering the $19.99 Internet package and oddly it works just fine now, instead of using the access point wap.voicestream.com I changed it to internet2.voicestream.com for the 19.99 internet plan. It sucks however that I have to pay 15 dollars a month extra to enjoy what I paid only 5.99 a month for before. The reason why I don't switch back to WM 6.0 is because I have grown accustomed to the threaded sms and it's a feature I really don't want to give up. I know there's threaded sms application but nothing can compare to having it built in. If anyone has a fix for this or can give some idea's please do. I'd much rather revert back to paying 5.99 a month as opposed to the 19.99 I began paying a month today.
this is a cab file I made for the tmo $5.99 plan and arscsoft mms 4.2.8.1. It works on my wm6 rom. Maybe it'll work for you.

I will give it a try now, I have to call T-mobile and have them switch me back to the 5.99 plan. I've got my fingers crossed.
::EDIT::
After I installed your .cab file and had t-mobile switch my plan to the 5.99 t-zones it now WORKS!! Flawlessly. Dude you don't know how many threads I came across with so many people that had the same problem and just could not get this working. Maybe you should make it's own thread for this that I can link people to with the same problem, that way you'll get the credit for you work and people from other forums can be directed to xda-developers.
Again thank you for this, I really appreciate it!
Good Idea, I originally posted these in Lurches thread but he has removed his, and these were buried pretty deep.

Glad it worked for you!

I'm actually living in Jamaica and my service provider is Digicel Ja.(GSM)
I am don't want to get the data plan but want to be able to send or receive MMS. Can this be done?
yes but you have to have a pay per kb. A data block totally blocks MMS. You shouldnt be charged for the data because verizon should see it as a picture message. If you do charge call them.
You will be charged for sending/recieving mms unless you have a data plan. I have been trying to figure this out for a while. I have 4 phones on a family share plan with unlimited txt/pix/flix. the 3 other phones are regular phones and they send rec mms no problem. I have the 'smart' phone that cant tell the difference between data and mms... it works out to $15.00 per meg too so be carefull...
You might be getting screwed because I was told they can tell the difference. And my account was credited for the mistakes.
Here is my experience... I have a verizon smt 5800. started with a pay per kb. got myself in trouble with a 1000.00 bill.. got verizion to back date the data plan and wipe off the 1000.00 charge ( no way they were getting that any way...) then went to switch back to pay per kb about 1 month ago and was told i could not switch back and that all smart phones need a data plan. found a post on line about same problem and what you need to do is keep calling back until you get a knowledgeable rep. I could not get the pay as you go back but i was able to get a data block and still have sms but you are correct that the mms will not work. I pay $5.00 per month for a set amount of messages ( i think it is 500). I am planning on getting a xv6800 from e-bay and checked with verizion and they told me for certain i could activate the 6800 with the data block still in place. So to answer the original question I think if you have a (older) smart phone and do not want a data plan the only option is a data block and this will let you use sms but not mms. Please let me know if any one else has been able to get a older smart phone recently activated with the pay as you go kb's.

I helped my friend set up a XV6800 on Verizon and they have no data plan and won't be getting one. This is the latest ROM flashed onto it. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=70427

Hi,
I usually just read this forum for fun, but now I want to get serious with modding my phone and tweaking it to my specifications.
I'm currently using a Blackberry with Tmobile's prepaid service. However, I'm tired of my small 2.5" screen. Hence the reason I'm looking at the HD2. I want to start using Android because of its flexibility with customization.
Here's my question: Can I buy a HTC HD2 off of eBay, flash it to Android, and then stick in my Tmobile prepaid SIM?
If I can do that, will I have a problem with the activation of the device? I wanted to buy a stock Android phone but I've read they require a SIM with a working data plan or borrow a SIM from somebody using an Android phone. (I don't have access to either).
Final question: Will MMS work on this device if I don't have a data plan?
Thanks!
You can use a prepaid tmobile with any android phone as long as its unlocked or locked to tmobile. If you already have an active sim, just stick it in and it'll work fine. You only need a data plan if you get a phone with a service plan from tmobile store... if you bought phone on your own, you dont need a data plan. I use my prepaid tmobile in my hd2, and just pay the $1.50 for the web daypass when I need data for the day. Not sure about mms without data... never use mms.
Yes. I have been doing this since I bought my phone. Just popped in my old prepaid sim and you're done. You don't have to activate the phone as long as your sim is active (phones with blocked imei excluded of course).
Can't answer the question on mms since I've never sent one. But I assume it's the same 25c they charge as per my prepaid agreement.
Thanks for your help. The only thing holding me back is I would greatly appreciate it if someone can confirm that MMS does not need a data plan. Once someone does, I'm getting it off eBay and then flashing Android!
Can anyone confirm it?
Thanks!
As of right now, I'm pretty sure mms requires a data plan.

you have to call tmobile to confirm. i know tmobile themselves do not require a data plan for mms to work. my son has a samsung lg that sends and recieves mms with tmobile and no data plan, however my daughter has a mytouch 3g and is unable to send and recieve mms. i contacted tmobile and they claim it is the specs of the phone that is the problem. give them a call they are very helpful, hell that is how i found out cotulla got nand finalized, while on the phone trying to fix daughters phone, the customer service rep was telling me about cotullas nand progress and even referenced xda. it was beautiful. good luck
Thanks for the help! I'll probably call Tmobile and do a little more research.
I did a quick Google search and realized that my Blackberry shouldn't be able to send and receive MMS's as well. I'm not sure why I can.
Do you think I should take a chance, buy one off eBay and see if it works?
sending mms on android REQUIRES data plan...i was able to receive mms but can't send without data plan. You Can always switch to window mobile to use mms. Android on hd2 comes rooted so no need for activation. You Can skip it or activate via wifi.
I think my brochure I had about prepaid t-mobile said mms was same price as sms if I remember right. With prepaid t-mobile we have access to t-zones without having to buy web daypass.

I know for sure that sending/receiving mms is listed on the prepaid package as 25c so it does not require a data plan (for prepaid). It probably goes through t-zones like the previous poster said.
Quote from the t-mobile website
$100 /Refill 1000 Minutes of Talk Messaging (Text): 5¢ to receive, 10¢ to send
Picture, Video: 25¢ to receive and send
Availability: 1 Year

I'll try out sending a mms tonight with my prepaid t-mobile and see if it works without data.
UPDATE: I just tested sending a picture with mms with my hd2 using prepaid t-mobile without being attached to WiFi or buying a web daypass, and it was successful. The 3g symbol popped up, so it did use data through tzones, but it didn't charge anymore than the 25 cents it costs to send mms.
I just started using prepaid tmobile about a month ago because I couldn't afford paying $80/month for the cheapest smartphone plan, and so far I'm very happy. I can pay $1.50 for the days I need data, which isn't often, as I'm usually around WiFi... and since I put $100 on my account to begin with, I only pay 10cents/min and my account will be good a year as long as I have credit. I only spent about $15 this first month of service! It works great for anyone on a budget like me.

Thank you SO much for your help! This convinced me to finally get it; my new HTC HD2 should arrive on Monday. I can't wait!
