Is it me, or can this forum be a bit hard to search? (using "" or AND doesn't work??) I KNOW I've seen more than one topic on this but I cant find it for the life of me and I'm not getting refined results.
Just encountered that problem where the Wizard suddenly makes a new Storage Card folder and renames the original one "Storage Card2". The new folder has 2 folders to hold mail attachments and a folder for PIE History.
I can see and use all for the files on the Storage Card2 (all of my movies and music and what not) but the associated programs are now looking for them in the new Storage Card folder.
How can I revert this? I can't delete the new and rename the original with the device docked. Getting sharing violation errors..
Anyone have this problem?
Thanks in advance!
Ok so I fixed it....
I took out my SD card.
From File Explorer on the device, I was able to rename the "Storage Card" that was on the Device to "Old". If you now try to delete it, you'll still get a cannot delete Index error.
I did a soft reset and was then able to delete the "Old" folder. I got "system fil" warnings, but it allowed me to delete the whole folder.
I then inserted my SD card, which immediately showed up as "Storage Card", the way it's supposed to.
My programs are now looking for their files on "Storage Card" and finding them there.
If anyone knows why this happens, feel free to pitch in....
I found that this occurred with me if I did any hacks to put internet explorer temp files, Omega One's Journal Bar files or email attachments to the storage card. I expect is was one of the first two that does it on start up and it was rather upsetting at first until you firgure out what to do about it. I've since unapplied those hacks and it hasn't happened again.

Hi,
Hope someone can help me. I got my UNI few weeks ago. Everything is working great except I noticed few corrput files on the MicroSD card that I previously used on Tytn and now use on the Uni. Corrupt Files, sorry not files but Folders, appeared in one of the data folders and I couldn't get rid of them: couldn't delete on PPC or BB. Few days ago I got 4 GB Sandisk card, and then all hell broke loose: Program Files folder copied from MicroSD to SD (through BB)was unreadable, neither Resko or FileExplorer on windows could see copied files. Data folder after been copied from BB to the card got bunch of directories with weird names and most of the files copied can't be read. I tried both FAT and FAT 32 with 1k cluster. Pic attached. Please help.
Almost forgot I am on L26 WM6 PRO Business V7 Videocall, Loader .06, radio 1.15

I had a similar problem a while back with a smaller SD-card, the problem was caused when I filled the card to capacity (and slightly beyond); after reporting 'card full' there were erroneous folders (similar to yours).
The only cure was to copy the useful data off the card, reformat (using the PC through a card-reader) and copy the files back again.

Try to make backup to pc, and then format it in fat file system.restore files to microSd and then try.If doesn't work, flash with new rom!It should solve problem!
Seems to be working
Thank you all for your posts. I did try reformating but to no success. The problem went away after flashing a diferent ROM. I also tried partitioning the card into 2 partitions but had issues formatting the second created partition, so I am back to the original 4 GB and it looks fine (at least for now)
And it is back again.
... was working for a while, but then I copied bunch op mp3s and the problem came back. I am not sure what triggered it: copying files or something else.
Hi @ all,
since a few days most of my memory card directories disapperaed. There are only the My Documents folder (which is empty, too) and a TEMP folder I created left on the card.
Although I searched for some threads like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=294324 all attempts failed.
The space on the card is still occupied and when re-installing programms a new Program directory is created with the same name as the dissapeared one. I have one program when the installer claimed to remove the previous version first before re-installation. So it seems to find something (but I assume in Windows directory or registry).
How will I get the dissappeared folders back? Is there any other chance than formating the SD card and re-installing all programs?
I'm using bepe's cooked German WM6 V0.96 (the last one) and a 2 GB miniSD-Card. It worked quite well since a year now...
Thanks for help,
TC

trinity, for some reason, spoils the FAT and reestablishes it with new data. the FAT is like a directory of "where to find what on disk".
as yout fat doesn't work properly, especially it doesn't show off the used sectors or clusters, all new storage will overwrite and destroy this way part of your old data.
so if this happens, remove inmediately the sd-card, put it into your PC card reader and pass it trough file appropiate rescue programs and you'll mostly find almoust all files.
so take a breath, download file rescue pgm's to your PC (some work better, others have many options, others ...) and have a try.
after the rescue, format the SD in your PC.
mine is just passing the rescue :-( and it's rescueing about 1600 files yet

Hello everyone,
I recently experienced the battery issue where the SD card drained the power and you could almost see the power level count down before your eyes.
So, following the advice on XDA posts, I tried removing my SD card, cleaned it up and then reformatted it (in the phone) which fixed the problem (thanks to all who spotted that fix, it’s an excellent tip). I then transferred all my files back on it.
However, now when I download files from the internet and I select to save it to the Storage Card, my ‘My Documents’ folder no longer appears in the list on the Storage Card, all I can see is the CoPilot folder and sub-folders.
How can I get it back to the My Documents folder that appears?
Am I missing something simple here?
Any help here would be great, thank you in advance.
(PS: I tried searching for this response on XDA but didn’t find it reported, sorry it is has already been covered.)
maybe just create a new "my documents" folder on the sd card.......
Ok, so after installing only my second ROM on the S4, The Blu Kuban, something odd and unexplainable happend. I was renaming some files in the Internal storage using my Windows 8 computer. After successfully renaming several, all of a sudden when I tried, it would just stay at original name after hitting enter. I cannot rename( any files on SD card or internal storage or create new folders with a new names.
Troubleshooting steps thus far:
rebooted phone and computer.
removed SD card unmount/remount
tried in another computer
was able to put micro SD in SD reader on same computer and works fine
tried using different USB cable.
This has be baffled. This ROM was working perfect and battery life is awesome! I've spent two days getting everything set up and now this. What in the world could lock up my files on internal/external storage? My next plan is to reflash the ROM but I hope there is another solution. Thanks for any advice or help.
