I'm having trouble with CardExport and WM5torage on my TyTn. Initially they were both very slow to mount the flash card and would sometime fail to mount it all all. I wiped the card, including MBR, and then tried again. The card mounts now but each time I click on the drive I get a long pause and an error message saying there was an IO error and the card can't be read. It seems to work fine on my TyTn and all the files are intact. Does anyone have an ideas or has anyone experienced the same type of problems. Is there a special MBR required for flash cards?
Well, i have the card export and since december i'm trying to solve that problem. Some guy, inside the softick, told me that is a problem with the TyTN and send me like 20 versions of the program. I test, return with the log's and the process still be with no success. We are going to do 3 months with tests and, till today, only i can say is the guys words: "trying to figure it out".
That's odd, as they state it works with the T-Mobile MDA Vario II on the front of their web site. I also had it working for a few hours but after formatting the flash card it stopped. I wondered if it had something to do with the MBR on the card.
CardExport works fine on my Orange SPV M3100 although I had to uninstall it and reinstall it once to get it working again after a recent hard reset.
Hmmh, I wonder if it's related to the T-Mobile ROM have other people with MDA Vario II's had problems?
i have a Tmobile Vario II been trying to get WM5torage to work with no luck had it on my wizard worked a treat found a version of CardExport 2.20 today works a treat for me

Would someone suggest the best way to add WiFi compatibility to my XDA2?
Where can one obtain XDA2 accessories?

I use the WiFi SD-Card from SanDisk personally.
It works great, has a good connection stability and comes rather cheap wehn you compare it to the competition.
One caveat, however, the WiFi drains batteries very fast -90 minutes is the max.

I am using:-
"i-mate (ModelPH10B)" aka XDA II
Running Windows Mobile Pocket PC Phone edition (pre-installed)
ROM version 1.03.00 USA dated 09/24/03
Radio version 1.05.12
Protocol version 1337.12
I purchased the SDIO Wi-Fi card by SanDisk ("Connect Low Power Wi-Fi Card" - SDWSDB-000). I cannot seem to be able to install the driver on the handheld. The PC installation proceeds fine but the PDA screen freezes as it is installing. I have tried both versions provided in the companion CD (which are for PPC2002 and 2003). There is another version on SanDisk's site and it has the same problem.
It seems the Windows Mobile PPC Phone Edition needs its own driver. Any ideas? Which driver are you using? BTW, what did you pay for the card?
Thanks
SDIO Wi-Fi card by SanDisk - Drivers for XDA II?
The newest driver I can find on SanDisk's site is at http://www.sandisk.com/consumer/sdwifi.asp
and is called "Pocket PC 2003 V60 (new Oct. 10, 2003)"
It still hangs on my i-mate and the 'installing' screen on the PDA never progresses.
Any advice is welcome..
re
sorry, no advice but I have managed to get the sandisk wifi card working on my xda. I had no probs loading the necessary software.
Selected Quick instal on the start up screen then Pocket PC 2003, ensured my xda 2 was connected via cradle and active sync, then selected install the wifi utility.
Installed on the xda with no probs at all.
needed to change the device name afterwards.
Also have installed this http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=2825&associateid=148 and it's working great. Internet through my broadband connection at home and access to my mp3 collection anywhere in the house, well struggle upstairs tbh but I may need to move me router.
Not what you want to here but at least you know in can work.
Cheers, Shire.
PS XDA 2 just ges better and better.
Shire29
Thanks. Is your XDA II running 'Windows Mobile Phone Edition' or 'PPC 2003' ? Which version?
I noticed that some of the posts on XDA developers that PPC2003 is the pre installed version on sets sold in Germany.

re
ummm well to be honest I'm not absolutely sure ?
Under /settings/about
Microsoft Pocket PC
Version 4.20.1081 (build 13100)
Proc: Intel(R) PXA263
Memory: 126.03 MB
Under /settings/device info
Version
ROM: 1.03.00 USA
ROM date: 09/24/03
Radio: 1.05.12
Protocol: 1337.12
In identity the model is PH10B
Not sure if any of that helps.
I have yet to confirm whether my device uses Pocket PC 2003 which is suggested under settings, or whether it is Windows Mobile PC 2003 which is suggested in some paperwork I have.
Hence I am confused
Cheers, Shire

All what you list matches what is there on my machine. Maybe there is a particular hardware or software problem with my particular machine. I will try a hard reset I guess.
What size is the setup.exe file that u used to install the drivers for PPC2003?
1,602,674 or 1,408,504 ?
Thanks for your help.
re
umm again not sure to be honest.
I simply ran the Sandisk Installation CD version 1.0 (a mini CD Rom).
The rest was as I described above, following the on screen instructions.
The only other suggestion I can make is that I have removed the O2Active app from start up.
Lastly, I have had a quick look on the cd rom and I do not see any files of that size.
There is a setup.exe in the English Folder on the disc and that is 1,376kb, but I didn't run from there, auto run took me to a front screen where I simply selected the english version for Express Install.
Cheers, Shire
Thanks for the replies so far.
I will consider the SanDisk SD WiFi Card.
Would someone advise where I can obtain this in the UK?
Additionally, is it likely that O2 are going to release something similar?
I notice a connection under the battery cover - any ideas what this is for?
I would very much like to add WiFi capability without an antenna protruding.
Aditionally, does anyone know if O2 are to release any other exciting accessories?
I got my XDA2 the other week and am very happy with it! Running it with a Jabra BT200 headset. Looking forward to the XDA3

google knew
think there is comming a backpack but i'm not 100% sure
"Additionally, is it likely that O2 are going to release something similar?"
unless it's a backpack making it specialy for the xda2 it would most likely be a rebadget other product and such are often more expensive
if it's directly from HTC you cant buy it from any other source then the phone companys which a backpack would most likely be
Finally got SanDisk Wi-Fi SDIO card to work..
Finally got the driver for SanDisk Wi-Fi SDIO card to install!
It took many hard resets and various combos (Imaginet software at startup; bypass it; 'Arabizer' on; 'Arabizer' off).
Dont know what finally mattered but in case someone needs this info in the future, here is what the situation was when it worked:-
..Install on 'storage' rather than default location on device
..Guest partnership
..All pre-installed options selected (Imaginet package/Arabizer) - this is probably applicable to sets sold in Dubai only
..No other programs installed or synchronization done before this
..Even so, the installer on the i-mate froze while copying files but the program appeared in the list of installed items after forced shutdown of the SanDisk installation after a few minutes of waiting.
At any rate, seems to recognize the card and picks up wireless signal and pings etc. Havent had a chance to fully check it out with web browsing.
I was able to get the Sandisk SDIO Wi-Fi driver to install on my T-Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition, running the .21 build of the PPC2003 T-Mobile Rom, but it won't recognize the card when installed. I did see that the PPC Phone Edition is not on the list of supported devices from Sandisk, but for some reason I thought it would work anyway. Anybody know if that's the case?
Thanks
For what its worth I ended up downloading drivers for the Socket version. (Socket & Sandisk cards are identical). The Sandisk drivers would install on my XDA II, but the device would not pick up an ip address from my DHCP server. When an ip address was entered manually I couldn't ping anything on the LAN. Installed socket drivers from their website (http://www.socketcom.com) I think and it all burst into life. Used it for a couple of weeks now no probs. Am posting this from the XDA II using the wifi card - cool!
Thanks for the info but just tried that on my T-Mobile PPC Phone and the Socket driver doesn't recognize the Sandisk card. Guess it's eBay for me!
;-)
Just an update
SanDisk WiFi SD working fine now on the imate. Browsing, ping and all.
re
glad to hear u got it sorted faisal, although you appeared to have some difficulty there, but worth while i think

ive had my cingular 8125 for a few month and a couple of months ago i bought a 2gb minisd card and for some reason when i install some apps to the storage card and try to run them i get this error message "the file "whatever the apps name is" cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannont be found. you might need to reinstall or restore this file
after i reintsall the app the same problem happens and sometimes i cant play mp3s from the card because they get corrupted is this a problem with the device or the card?
I'd install PocketMechanic and see what it's gotta say about your card. Did you format it with the phone before the first usage?
It could be your phone, but more likely it is the card. Like voyager said, you should check it using a tool like pocket mechanic.
Have you had similar results with other cards in your phone ? Then it could be the phone...

I believe I'm having the identical problem. not only that but also the screen alignment problem as well.
at first I was sure it was the minisd cards fault since it wasn't bieng recognized in my computer either. but after buying a second card, soon I hated my wizard. music used to skip, progs wouldn't install properly, just like you mentioned.
my wizard is supposed to be my mp3 player as well so I dunno what the hell to do with it now. now I wish I had bought it from tmobile directly, instead I got it from some smuck off ebay. dammit!
Try putting other manufacturer's ROM. Ie. O2's v2.21. I have no problems with it. Had i-Mate's v2.16 before, which also worked fine.
ok i checked the card out with pocket mechanic seems to have some problems with it that and it was formated in fat 16
ao i decided to start from scatch reformated the card and everything seemed to go well until i soft reset my device.. then the old problem came back every app on the storage card stoped working and even some mp3s were then seen as being corrupt and wmp wouldnt play some of the mp3 then i soft reset the device again and like magic most of the apps that stoped working started working again and the mp3s that were seen as corrupt were actually deleted off the car im thinking its prob some bad sectors on the card or maybe the os is eating the SD card i guess theres only way to find out...
I've recently discovered that T-mobile do in fact provide the SPB GPRS Data Monitor Tools for their Vario 2 device. It comes on the application CD and you have to install it yourself.
Unfortunately, my own attempts at this have been unsuccessful. I keep getting a message telling me I need to upgrade my ROM. Rather strange considering no other official ROM has been released for this model yet.
Anyway, I've been fighting with it for a number of days and eventually contacted T-mobile customer service. I'm though to the Technical Escalations team who are looking into it. However, they can't replicate the issue.
What I'd like to know is has anyone else been successful at installing this application on their Vario 2?
ROM 1.21.110.3
Date 06/19/06
I've got it installed on my mda vario II with the same rom as you and had no issues.

Hi. Thanks - did you install it yourself or did it come pre-installed?
Anyone else?
i had no problems with that at all .. did you upgrade your activesync before connecting your device to a pc ?
installed from cd - all here

Thanks everyone. Hmm.. good question. Knowing how flaky ActiveSync can be, I did upgrade it straight away. I'm running the latest 4.2. What about you guys?
Well.. I thought I'd have a crack at trying Activesync 4.5
That turns out to perhaps not being the wisest move. As is typical of wonderful Microsoft I've been having all sorts of games with the it. I ended up having to hard reset my Vario 2 again because it was having trouble synching.
Anyway, got it working finally and the result? Even better.. now when I attempt to run the installer it doesn't even show me the GPRS monitor as an optional install! Hah.. gets better and better..
Maybe this only works on ealier versions of Activesync - prior to 4.2? I'm going to have another crack over the weekend on my home PC. I might also roll back Activesync to 3.7 to see if that works any better.
HAHA!! Ok!! Further to above I thought what the heck, fired up the installer again and chose to 'repair' rather than 'modify' to install a new application. Lo and behold it went ahead and attempted to install the GPRS monitor. Result - Success! I now have this working. Go figure!
Hi there guys Was wondering if any one can point me in the direction of how to set up my wifi card i bought two days ago, I just called TDMS - T-mobile and spoke to there well trained staff who said they dont have a clue what im on about, My MDA can search for spots no probs and pick them up, But for some reason i just cant connect at all, Do i need to assign for example a specific IP address or Even a certain domain?!?! I know there was a thread in regards to this, But ive looked and it takes me to no further than what im at just now, Any help would be much apppreciated.
Joseph.
Ok since i have posted my last "Q", I have tried my MDA without a sim card in, So my web and walk CANT start, tried using the wifi, But it seems that the MDA is still looking for the GPRS to connect over wifi first, Any solutions around this?! Help would be great
Joseph.

Ok thanks for that.
my wifi sd card also can`t work with wm6!
I have a i-tec SDIO Wlan and it is working better under clean wm6. Having some problems under original ROM. I mentioned the same thing - Charmer tried to connect over GPRS first. Under the clen new ROM with wm6 - there are no pre-deffined connections - wlan works much better. Maybe you needo to install some WM5 drivers to get it work.
I'm using the SpecTec SDW-820 (11 MBit) with my Charmer (T-Mobile Germany, WM5/AKU3.3) and it works quite good. However, from time to time it seems like Windows does not recognize the card. If I insert the card, just nothing happens at all. After a soft-reset, everything is fine again. Strange issue, since it's working most of the time without any trouble.

hi, does anyone know of a wifi card that works with the charmer running wm6?
gettin real bored of websites sayin they dont have one for wm6! cheers.
Hey guys,
I just bought a used Qtek S200. Everything was working fine for a good month or so. Just recently I noticed that my SD card does not show up. Has anyone had this problem? I have never dropped the phone or anything, this seems to just have happened out of the blue. I've tried a few different cards and none show up.
I am using Windows Mobile 6.
This happened to me yesterday! I've got the Orange M600 version of this phone, running WM5, with a 2gig card as well. All was working fine, I then tried to access a program stored on the card and it went tits up. No matter what I do I can't get it to work.
Someone help us, please!!
There's another older thread, same topic, but no solution
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=315533
That would be my thread.... My still doesn't work either... I'm just gonna ride it out until Orange offer me a new phone.
My 2GB Sandisk Card didn't show up some days ago. After a softreset, it continued working. Just try it
