Changing third party SIP is not possible with new rom - P3600 General

I have installed the new official ROM for the Dopod with GPS enabled.
The problem is when I installed the arabic software (tried two different software), or even Resco Keyboard Pro, i can not swap the SIP to any except the windows preloaded ones.
I tried to play with the registry but could not find the right key.
Any Help please???

Calligrapher 2005 can't work either. Any suggest?

You have to restart the device before you can use third party SIP. Resco Keyboard pro worked after restarting my dopod d810.

Calligrapher 8.3 won't work for me either. Going to upgrade and see.

Finally it works! I doubt it was the upgrade to 8.4, but rather the many resets I did.

yes - but another reset it will stop , then might work or not,,

I tried the Resco Keyboard Pro, and it didn't work, after many resets etc. On their support page they explain that it's a wm5 problem related to HTC devices, but their solution doesn't work for me.
Too bad...uninstall.

Intellipad or Phonepad problem

I tried to set the Intellipad as the default SIP but after a soft reset it reverts to Keyboard automatically.
Switching it manually before replying a message sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.
I tried re-installing Intellipad, but still have the same problem. I'm using the QTEK 1.11 ROM.
Anyone else experiencing the same problem?
It is true that after a soft reset the sip will go back to default, keybord. To change it you has edit the registry at HKCU\ControlPanel\Sip by changing the "DefaultIm" value, but I don't know the value for Intellipad. For Block recognizer as default sip change the value to {42429691-ae04-11d0-a4f8-00aa00a749b9}. Maybe other know the value for intellipad...
I've encountered that before, just use tweak2k2net and disabled those inputs that you do not need to use, leave only phonepad & keyboard (for me), perform a software reset and it will work again. (I've even have tengo Thumb keyboard) installed as well.
Have you got a link for tweak2k2net ?
I found it
http://www.tweaks2k2.com/
Unfortunately none of these suggestions worked. I can live with the SIP switiching to keyboard as default. What I can't stand is the fact that I have to reset my PPC every time I switch from Keyboard to Phonepad and vice versa.
Can someone pls try switching between keyboard and Phonepad for a couple of times and see if it works fine?
I have no problems what so ever.
Running ROM 1.11.00 on Qtek S100
It was determined by a very helpful person on PocketPCThoughts.com that resources for the SIP are shared with the Today plug-ins. So, if you have too many Today plug-ins or one Today plug-in that is resource intensive, chances are that your third-party SIP will fail to function.
I verified it by disabling all the Today plug-ins and it worked like a charm upon the next reset. Then, I started enabling the plug-ins one by one until I found out how much it can take before Intellipad (or TenGO Thumb) will just pull up the keyboard.
Too bad it's a Microsoft issue.
One of the few programs that seemed to have overcome this issue is Spb Full Screen Keyboard. I think Resco Keyboard is another one, but when they don't satisfy your needs, who cares about these two products.
I really enjoy Intellipad and the new TenGO Thumb, but you'll have to realize they are sensitive to the available resources that the Pocket PC provides. Perhaps contacting the developers would make them see the light, but I doubt it much.
I'm trying to see if I can come up with an alternative to the many Today plug-ins I have. I tried Snoopsoft Dashboard, but I got the same results, but of course, this is after many installs/uninstalls. I'm going to start fresh with a hard reboot and rebuild my Pocket PC software setup from scratch.
You can read the correspondence of how I got this issue addressed on PocketPCThoughts here:

BeyondtheTech, thanks very much for your reply. That explains it! I just need to decide which plug-in I can live without, SPB pocket plus or PhoneAlarm :-(

Sound problem with HTC P4350

With apparently no reason, the phone's sounds start playing on about 1.5x speed. This is happening with all the ringtones and even if I play a file with WMP. And most annoyingly, when I call anyone (or being called), only the speakerphone works, no matter whether you turn it on or off. These two problems seem to go together. There are no apparent reasons nor for their start, neither for their end. Can anyone help?
Have you soft reset? What recent programs have you installed?
Soft Reset doesn't help at all. I have the same programs as on my previous Qtek S200 plus one very lite program for fuel consumption, which I run only about twice a week.
Well I am glad that you have the same programs on it as you had on your Qtek but that really doesn't help.
Do you have any program that has anything to do with sound installed?
What I meant is, that my old S200 worked just fine with these programs. Here's the complete list in reverse installation order:
CoreCodec CorePlayer
PocketX Photo Contacts PRO
DinarSoft MemMaid
LinkeSOFT Automobile
MASPware AutoManager
PDAGear.net Expense Diary
Mibigloo Texas Hold'em Poker Odds Calculator
Resco Photo Viewer
Chi-Tai Dang BatteryStatus TD-Plugin
Spb Backup
Opera
Infinite Dreams SkyForce Reloaded
Resco Explorer + Today Plugin + Registry Add-in + FTP Add-in
ICQ for PPC
TofClock TodayPlugin
Skype
What I am wondering is if one of these programs is having an effect on the sound.
Did it happen after you installed a program or made any changes? Have you tried hardreseting?
Anyway, HTC announced they will be upgrading P4350 to WM6 soon, so I'll just wait and see what happens. Thank you for your advices.
Hello,
Have you managed to solve this problem?
I have the same problem now that I have upgraded to WM6 and I have not heard of anyone else with the same effect.
If you have found a solution, I would be very interested in knowing what you did.
Many thanks in advance
Nick
I am having this problem now too. The ringtone thing had happened many times before and was always fixed with a soft reset. But the speakerphone thing is a deal breaker, and now active sync is not even working. Any solutions to this yet?
No Sound - No Active Sync
Same problem here, my Herald doesn't produce any sound and ActiveSync doesn't recognise it. Someone got a solution?
Hey ppl, have you tried using the Active Sync Trouble shooter? Also be sure that your connections are reconized by your computer(usb controller which is in control manager) and that your pda is set to be read by cable/bluetooth, depending on what you work with.
Peace!

3rd party input device doesn't work after installing MVC

does anyone have problem with installing Microsoft Voice command on their HTC phones? I have a HTC P3600 and after installin MVC my 3rd party SIP (phonepad, monster chinese, etc...) doesn't work anymore... I can see the selection, just the keyboard doesn't show up...
this doesn't matter if I install MVC before or after... as soon as I remove MVC... the SIPs started to work again.
I'm using mun_rus newest rom
Thanks

I can't use any 3th party SIP on my phone

Maybe somebody can help me:
I try to install diffrent keyboards on my device (for Japanese Input, Large Button Input and so on).
I can see them all after installation, but I can not select one of them, when I try to select them it switch back to default Keyboard.
Any Idea how I could fix that problem?
Thanks
PS: I tryed SIPChange, but it did not work.
Another one hit the driver memory problem, brought to you by M$. Trinity is in particular vulnerable to this problem amongst other WM5 devices. I thought M$ fixed it many years ago with the introduction of WM2003 device - but I was wrong.
What OS you are using? WM5 or WM6?
i'm running wm5. today I managed in the safe mode to start one of SIP but thats no way to work. do you think it would change if I upgrade to wm6? to bad there is no official uprade... and, is wm6 fully supported by the Trinity? some where I read that the gps module is not supported by wm6 ..
Heard someone talked about that driver problem is less prominant in WM6 - but I am not sure - since I still don't find a reason to upgrade.
There ARE official WM6 for Trinity - for those Dopod machines. They said the official ROM from HTC is also coming at the end of the month.
The current official WM6 roms support GPS without problems - as with all latest cooked roms.
I'd suggest you go for WM6 to see if it fixes your SIP problem.

Can't use any third party keyboard software

I've tried to use several third party keyboard applications, but none of them will work.
The software installs OK, and the option to select the keyboard is in the dropdown box next to the keyboard icon on the screen, but I can not select the third party keyboard. I can select any of the other input options no problem.
I've tried five different third party keyboard programs now, and none of them work. Any ideas why?
Thanks
Maybe you are low on memory? Try to remove homescreen plugins, reset device and try again. Also you could find Default_IM_WM5.CAB on this forum in order to set default SIP (keyboard) automaticaly at startup.
I have exactly the same problem,
I tried resco keyboard and calligrapher, but impossible to use them (they apear y keyboard select and can select, but do not open)
it's not memory, as I use a XDA flame (2Gb rom /128Mb ram)
and Default_IM_WM5.CAB did't work
I removed spb pocketplus with no results
any other solution?
maybe some registry modification?
thanks
Same here.
Tried pmkeyboard, Spb Full Screen Keyboard and Zoomboard.
Same issue here
I've installed the spb fullscreen keyboard, resco, HTC softkey, and one other and I am having the same problem. I thing the registry is corrupted from all the adding and removing of kb's. Are you guys experiencing a very slow response when you hit the triangle to choose an alternate input method.
1. try upgrade to wm6
2. disable as many today items as you can
3. disable unused services in the registry
4. clean up unused startup programs
5. finally, if all the above won't work, backup and hard reset.
Yes, very slow response in the keyboard triangle selector,
but the rest of functions and applications go fast,
so it's not a memory problem
one more key:
if I choose resco keyboard with IMselector, and then uninstall IMselector, after next soft-reset I'm able to use resco keyboard (not callygrapher).
but in next soft-reset again the problem of impossible use of any third party keyboard ....
it's really extrange....
Finally I discovered the cause of the problem:
all the SPB products (pocket plus, phone suite, weather,...)
hope SPB fix this bug soon, as they are good products...
actually its more of a ms design bug than any particular product. the driver memory is quite limited by design - if too many service or dlls loaded, sip don't have the needed memory to run.
that has more sense....
I had same problem. After I updatet to WM6 moste SIP worked just fine. I strongly recomend to upgrade to WM6, the phone works a lot better since then (memory problems etc).

Yes, these are great apps, but I too have had quite a few problems with them - once requiring a hard reset after I tried their finance software.
SIP Change
The problem occurs because some AKU2 based service or process is changing the SIP back to the keyboard. This happens 4-8 seconds after startup programs run. As such, SIPChange is a workaround of sorts because when it runs at startup it waits 10 seconds before changing the SIP to your selected default.
This fixed it for me...
