I've had this problem with my SPV M1000, O2 XDA Exec and now my SPV M3100 and have never found the answer but thought I should inform everyone about this email fact.
Basically there is a lot of talk of the correct email settings, the most important being the smtp server, smtp.orange.net. However I suspect many people examine their settings more frequently than necessary.
It is common for an error message to occur when a send/receive involves a send and the error message is confusing. It says you cannot download emails, please check settings or reconnect.
There would appear to be some sort of issue with Orange that requires the full process of connecting to GPRS to occur in order for a successful send. So the problem is indeed got round by disconnecting from GPRS and allowing the Messaging application to connect itself by requesting a send/receive. This is alluded to in the error message but not exactly.
BTW does anyone know how to force a disconnection after all GPRS connections so as to make this less of a hassle?

I recently established a GPRS connection between my new i-mate XDAII and my wireless provider (AT&T Wireless). However, when I try to pull up common webpages, after a lengthy delay as it searches, I receive the following INternet Explorer error message, "The page you are looking for cannot be found."
Any suggestions?
Thanks very much.
This usually happens when gprs access is disallowed or not activated on your account.
...sometimes, after unkown reason, i cant click on any links!
even from emails, if i click on a link, it says something about
it dont know how to associate it, and to run the right program for it first.
any ideas? im sure its an extention problem.
Two phone conversations now with AT&T Wireless suggest that there's nothing wrong with the GPRS connection...or that the account isn't properly established for data service. We've double-checked all connection settings, the AT&T Wireless technical support folks are "seeing" the connection from their end...the data connection seems to be established.
Instead, it seems to be an Internet Explorer issue or, at least, something within the i-mate preventing it from pulling up webpages.
Is there an phone number and/or e-mail address for i-mate's technical support area that I should try...or, does Microsoft offer tech support for Pocket IE?
Thanks, again.
Orange SPV M1000.
A large number of our users, all in different parts of the country seem to connect to gprs ok but when trying to connect to any web addresses, after a minute or so get 'Browser warning. Cannot read page. HTTP request timeout' errors.
I have an SPV myself and am getting the same problem. However if I put the SIM from the SPV into my own personal Orange P900 I can connect to web addresses okay. Which points to the SPV M1000 itself. I know the aerial in the SPVs are rubbish at the best of times, but for them all to have worse problems than normal all at the same time seems a bit odd.
As usual Orange are denying there's a problem with their orangeinternet GPRS network.
Any ideas anyone ??????? Pleeeeease.
Does anyone have the code to invoke the send and recive command from the messaging. ie force the GPRS to re-connect. I have set the auto download emails every 1 minute but this is not reliable. I need to call re-connect as and when I send data.
XDA2 and XDA2i UK O2 connections.
Any help pointer etc appreciated.
would this work? i have lots of problems getting gprs to re-connect after its dis-connected sometimes. It really bugs me because this is the only phone ive ever had that can't always connect to gprs when its blatently available!
I have a Blackberry on O2 that accesses our corporate BES but I wondered if I could get it on my Tytn if I moved the SIM and installed the desktop and PPC software. I did and eveything looked good, was getting mail but found the Services 'Blackberry [CMIME] is marked as disallowed and although I can receive email, I can't send. Anyone know if the are connected?
Also the Blackberry service does not start when I reset the Tytn, saying I have no connection so I have to manually start a GPRS connection and continually keep trying to re-connect, eventually it does but it would be great if the service could start automatically on reset with active connection. Does anyone know if there's specific settings I should be using for my setup? I'm using the desktop and ppc blackberry connect software found on the hermes FTP area.
Thanks in advance.!
POPSSIBLE i think, search for the subject in the TyTN upgrades forum section i think i saw a thread a few weeks ago on this...your SIM must have blackberry access so you should be ok?!
I'm almost there, I had to recreate my BES account so my service books come down fine and I can send email. The only problem I have now is that if I restart the tytn, the Blackberry service won't connect, I get either a message thats says 'NOT CONNECTED' or 'STOPPED'. Nothing else has changed and I have an active O2 GPRS connection on a Blackberry enabled SIM. Anyone else had this problem getting the Blackberry service to connect?
Hi peoples,
on my HD I have two data connections
O2 Active and Mobile Web
I have the unlimited web bolt on and use my phone for surfing, push email etc. Sometimes my phone refuses to send MMS messages, I don't get an error, it just stays in the outbox. I'm wondering if it's a problem with having two data connections or not, but it's a VERY annoying problem
so, does anyone know which connection is used for what and whether to send MMS messages I should disable one connection type?
thanks
