When using the internet explorer, my Cingular 8525 always tries to connect thru 3G though it have connected with Wi-Fi already. Sometimes after a few dismissals, it would finally connected to the net by Wi-Fi, however, it is not always the case.
What can be done to prevent this happening?
Please help.
Thanks in advance.
known issue, read wiki and search for how to confirm you connection settings to fix that. My 8525 did that out of the box and solved by a thread on here.

Hello,
After performing a hard reset on my XDA Exec I used the various posts within the forum to set-up the machine. Of course one of the thinks I have set up as been the "My ISP" and "My Work Network" section to connect to the Internet via 3G. I also implemented the registry mod to have my 3G/GPRS connection always up.
Now here comes the problem bit ....
After a soft reset the 3G connection automatically comes up and am able to sync with the exchange server and surf the web. All seems fine. However after syncing with the USB cable, manually disconnecting the 3G connection or a making/receiving a phone conversation I am no longer able to connect to the net. Neither My ISP or My Work Network works any more. The error message I get is "No modem at above number...." I have double checked my connection setting and they all seem fine. Am at a loss to explain this.
Any thoughts?
TIA
Hi,
did you solve the problem. I have the same problem with my MDA Pro. When I change from wifi to gprs or modem I get the same error message. I have to turn off the telephone and back on and then it will work. This is really bad. Friends of mine at work have the same problem.
Any ideas?
Holger

Sorry, no. Did not manage to fix it. I eventually returned the exec back to O2. Think I'll give it a couple more months while I do a bit more research and then re-upgrade to it again.

Hi I have a wifi issue and can't find any other related posts. I can connect to wifi networks however when I use IE, Opera or Skype the programs seem to time out and say can not find network although the icon and conections tab say I connected. I have check all the posts and even the manual and I seem to have all the settings correct. Has anyone seen this before, have overlooked something? any help to get me connected and surfing would be great.
thanks and happy new year to all members

I solved similar problem with my HTC Trinity by changing WLAN Power Save Mode from "Best Battery" to "Best Performance".
i tried that and it still didn't work,
thanks
What kind of network are you connected to? if you are on a home network that has an ISP which requires a login, then that could be the problem. A friend of mine has a setup like that where even with the wireless router he still logs on via the PC and not the Router.
worked for me

I have been having the same problem since moving off the Dopod rome I got the phone with.
Thanks for speaking up. I can finally wifi again. :-D
hi all,
Ifigured it out, or at least I got it working. Not really sure what I did, but as people suggested I changed everything to connect to "work" and this seemed to do it, I want to try connecting to a couple other networks to see If I can figure out exactly what i did right.
thanks for the help, Mike
Hi friends. Since I've bought my HTC Wizard, i've been reading the very nice posts on this forum. Now I'm with a little problem and hope someone can help me.
I'm using a Black Diamond WM6 ROM and having some problema with my wi-fi connection.
I have a wi-fi router at home. I start the Wizard wi-fi connection normaly, get my MAC adress recognized normaly. Then I visit a page or two, or download some e-mail on Outlook and the connection stops. I can't acess nothing else.
If I just restart the Wizards wi-fi connection, it turns right again.
Have anyone find some error like this before? I apreciate all incoming help.
Thanks
Are you using any kind of encryption (WPE, WPA...)?
Have you checked the connection with any other WiFi devices? Do you experience the same problem?
Sometimes WiFi encryption doesn't work properly on some routers (eg. Huawei HG520). Have a go without any encryption to see it that's the problem.
If it's not, I've no idea what's going on, sorry.
Hope it helps.
I appreciate that this might be similar to other threads, but none seem to be giving me any clues or answers, hence the need for a new one.
My wifi connects to my home network, and the pda reports back as connected. However, I can't get any programs to connect through it any more.
I don't use a GPRS data connection. My USB connection works fine when connected to my desktop. However, when relying only on the wifi connection, I get no joy. I had it working just fine until a few days ago - not changed or added anything, apart from re-installing s2u2 (and subsequent uninstalling it has made no difference).
Can anyone shed any light on why the wifi no longer wants to play, and any suggestions on a cure for this? Please?
Nikki
Guys,
I have a Touch HD and I have tried as I might to get it working with Wifi and Data connection perfectly; let me explain.
What I want to happen is this:
Wifi to connect to my home router (which it does) and allow the internet and access to my network (think I have that one sorted)
Data connection to start on all Internet based applications, when Wifi is not turned on
When Wifi is turned on, this connection to be used for all internet based applications
My issue is that I can only ever get some of these working at a time. For instance, my email is set to check every 5 minutes. If my wifi is on, my data connection still fires up and attempts to grab my mail, as opposed to using my already connected wifi connection.
I think I have sorted the Wifi connection issue when connecting to my network...I used to have to switch between "Internet" and "Work" for it to identify my LAN....however Resco Explorer seems to fix this issue.
Can anyone provide a comprehensive guide as to how to achieve the above....just annoys me how shockingly implemented WinMo networking is!
Thanks again - all help appreciated.
Sorry, I have no solution for what you ask.

Lately I do have problems using my WiFi though. I have it all setup with my home router since months and had no problems. Then at some point (don't know when exactly), all programs (like the weather, opera, email) started to not be able to connect anywhere, while at the same time my HD reports it is connected to my home WiFi network.
Everything works fine (internetwise) when connected through Activesync.
I saw this "Internet" and "My Work" options too, and I also have Resco Explorer. Could you please explain what it is you have sorted out in case it helps people ?
Edit: here's the problem thread
