T9 - Word completion ? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

I am not sure if T9 means word completion.
Is it ?
If so, I would like to change my Hermes' T9 language.
Is that possible ?
In the following page, a method for changing T9 is explained/discussed:
http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=199368
Is there an easier way to do this ?
Maybe, my T9 language (Turkish) is already included in Hermes; how can for sure ?
Also, I found the software "InterKey Professional" which supplies auto word complete. Could this be a better way ?

Adding or changing xT9 dictionary?

I've got english ROM but would like to be able to use some other dictionaries (in addition or instead of...) like norwegian and/or swedish.
I've been searching this forum for "add xt9 dictionary", also under other WM6.x devices like Diamond but have come up with nothing useful.
It seems like HTC Diamond and others use "eT9" dic's and the registry keys referred to does not exist in X1
HTC= HKLM\Software\Tegic\....
X1=HKLM\Software\XT9 Input Method\...).
The only regkey that exists in my X1 under XT9 Input Method is "IMEmode=0".
- Anyone with a swedish ROM that could check their registry settings here?
- Does anyone now of a way to add or change xT9 dictionary on X1?
- Anyone with a swedish ROM who could send/PM me the "mssp2.lex" file located on root in folder "Windows"?
I have the Swedish rom, i also only have IMEmode 0 there.
OK, if you have the swedish ROM you also have the swedish dictionary. Could you pls copy and PM or e-mail me the "mssp2.lex" located in folder "Windows"?
Anybody with a swedish ROM who could send me the "mssp2.lex" file located in folder Windows\ ??
If so, pls pm me and I´ll send you my e-mail address.

I'm not sure but this site might help you?
Thx for the reply but it did not hlp me solve the problem. The thread is not applicable for Xperia. Neither of the mentioned registry keys are on the Xperia.
However it did help me in realizing that the *.lex file would not solve my problem sinse it apparently is only applicable for spellchecking (?) and is not used for the predictive text input appearing when messaging (?).
...so the question is now back to what the thread says: how to change or add a xT9 dictionary to Xperia??
Looking through some other threads for other (HTC) devices on this forum most of them refer to a "...Tegic\eT9..." path in registry which also does not seam applicable for Xperia.
All I have in registry is HKLM\Software\XT9 Input Method\IMEmode = 0.
Which files controls xT9 ??
An up for this problem... I am unable to change the dictionary used by the hardware keyboard. Actually I have Jack ROM, but would like to use my own language dictionary... any useful idea?!?!

[Question] Dictionairy differ from phone language

Hi,
I'm from The Netherlands,
But i prefer my phone to be english.
But this also changes the spell check for the keyboard (using the htc touch input)
is it possible to change just the language for the spell check in the keyboard, without changing the language of the entire OS?
You can do that by following this procedure:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4675909&postcount=457
Just remember to use 0 (English) instead of 8 (Danish).

[REQ] HD2 Greek support

Hello,
Is it possible to extract the new Greek keyboard (SIP) and T9 from the newly released WM6.5 ROM for htc Topaz and use it in Leo?
I've tried - unsuccessfully - to do so, in order to install the Greek keyboard and T9 LDB to my Leo. The Leo comes with ROM 1.43.405.1 WWE.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello again.
Is it possible to include a Greek T9 dictionary with this Greek keyboard?
Keep in mind that there is a limitation on that. You can not send 160 greek characters per sms with this keyboard yet, it is limited to 70. We are searching for a solution on that.

The greek keyboard as well as the greek T9 are already pre-installed in your device. Some image files are missing however, and as a result of that you can not activate Greek language unless you either install the missing images (tsipistri's post) or modify the greek xml files to link to the english images.
These 2 solutions are posted here
I have not tested T9 with tsipistri's solution yet, but with the changed xml files T9 works flawlessly.
Regarding 160 sms, it seems right now that there is no ability for the ezinput application to write in GSM encoding. So, if you need 160 sms you can use Finger keyboard.
Hmmm Greek affiliates from Cosmote and from Chios island....
Well the Greek Leo ROM is out on my hands lads...why such an effort for extra cab files...

This will be possible with either a new SMS-oriented on-screen keyboard or a in-memory solution patch (like the one used by ACE Hellas) where non-GSM characters are swapped with the correct ones.
For the time being, I have no problem sending Greek SMS of 160 by simply employing some common logic: typing always in UPPERCASE English and switching to Greek uppercase only for the non-latin characters.

Amazing idea! It works. I know how to fix it now.
Stay tuned for a working version with 160 sms. I will release it very soon.
English - Greek ezinput keyboard with ability to send 160 characters in greek sms
Instructions
1) Uninstall any other version of this or tsipistri's keyboard
2) Install the attached cab file
3) Click on the white box next to the space bar in order to change between Greek and English Unicode letters.
4) From either English or Greek keyboard click on 12# box in order to write sms with 160 Greek capital letters
5) All removed symbols have been relocated to ABC menu or to page 2 of 12# menu
I am now working on an alternative version that will include 3 different keyboards (Greek, Greek SMS & English)
Great job Step2p, I will try it when I'm back home
Thank you very much for your efforts.
A red skin version with some bugs corrected.
If you haven't noticed it yet, long press entries are already activated in the sms keyboard. If you long press the capital letters you will enter the symbols that normally appear above them.
The file size is larger due to the included skin images.

Long press.. There is a menu coming out with both ά and !. ά is selected to be first choice in non-capital letters
Hi Step2p.
Many thanks for providing this nice keyboard.
There seems to be a problem when using it though, described originally here. The thread suggests that the problem is related to a registry hack, however, I have confirmed that I have the same problem irrespective of the registry setting. I am only noticing this behavior when using the greek keyboard.
Do you think you could have a look?

Allowing the HD2 to show different language ??

Hey all,
I was just wondering if there is a way to allow HD2 to show messages (sms/email/websites) with languages other than English (e.g. Arabic)
Is it possible to show different languages WITHOUT changing the GUI language of the phone ?
Is it possible to add an option to switch between keyboards of different languages (keyboard characters) ?
I heard that we should wait until HTC releases such software, but im not sure if this is correct, can anyone confirm this ?
Thank you very much
I read this topic ; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=401966
But that changes the language of the GUI, I only want the phone to "read" a different language. How can I do that ?

[Q] Is there any guide for changing the language of the ROM??

Hope flash english to chinese.Anyone can offer a guide about how to do this?
Thanks in advance!

It's quite easy, but it depends on the ROM you are using. Some ROMs support specific languages (locales). To change the locale go to phone's "Settings" app. Tap on "Locale and text" entry and then tap on "Select locale" entry. Select your desired locale and reboot the device.
Sadly I have not seen Chinese locale in SG3 ROMs (probably because I was never looking for it). There is Korean locale in most of SG3 ROMs. Try flashing a couple of stock ROMs to see if they have Chinese locale or wait if someone replies which ROM is he using to get Chinese locale...

Thank you all the same……
Maybe my description is not clear enough ,I mean how to make the ROM support chinese by modifing some files of the ROM.
My english is not good enough, hope you can understand……

Oh, that's another matter...This would include translation of the corresponding files in the framework, and the OS itself. All .apk(s) need to be translated, which considers decompiling and the recompiling the whole .apk, hunting down the GUI .xml(s), adding the translation and so on...Isn't there Chinese Android translation/localization?
...and I forgot one very important thing, the Chinese fonts and grammar! This can cause many compatibility issues. As I understand, Chinese characters cannot be translated respectively from Alphabetical characters. This would involve coding/writing a new/separate module for decoding and encoding Chinese characters. If Chinese is similar to Korean, this is the place to start. Word prediction and autocerrect software would have to be written also - for the keyboard, new keyboard layout etc...A lot of work (assuming there is no Chinese localization for Android).

Thx a lot.
There are people who do the translation work on the Internet. But they are not able to turn every ROM to chinese version, especially when i find a ROM which i like from xda. I think i should try to find out how they do the work and learn it……
