I got my charmer this afternoon and found one issue with it:
it doesnt recognise the fact that i've got a memory card inserted! tried 3 different memory cards
could it be that the phones b0rked?
can someone point me in the direction of an official rom update?
i downloaded the one from t-mobile but it seems to always throw up some communications error and doesnt go any further.
HELP!
I dont know what is wrong with your memory card and your phone, but you can download an official rom from HERE

I downloaded the upgrade from Siemens web site and ran the program.
my phone is now stuck in the upgrade window and will not reboot.
Any Sugestions?

You need to get an sd memory card and card reader/writer, using the tools available here on the site you will need to write a rom to the sd card through sd card reader on your pc, then you go to bootloader mode and the sd card will burn the rom to your xda.
Thanks for the advise. I have a 1Gb sd card so I will get a reader.
I'm kind curious about Bootloader? Can Anyone enlighten me or point me to posts that have the info I'll need.
My computer is running windows is this ok?

I just wanted to say that it is AWESOME to have a sight like this when the manufacturer doesn't have a clue how to answer many of these Q's.

I've got a problem, my SD Card Slot has stopped working.
I've tried another SD Card, i've tried soft-reset's, i've tried different WM5 ROM's, i've triedan original ROM on the Prophet , and I still can't get it working.it dosen't have some dirty inside
Anybody got any idea's please ?

Hi mate,
I had the same problem with my phone, when I updated to a WM6 ROM. Seems the timing was just really really bad.
Here's what I did to fix it.
1)Remove the SD Card
2)Blow Hard into the SD Card Slot
3)Put the SD Card back in, see if it reads.
4)If it doesnt work, try the same process again, usually the second time will definately get it going.
This is a common problem among Prophet users..the slot gets dirty after a period of time.
If the above process doesn't work for you, or you don't want to use it, there is a second way.
1)Find the old "Fake" SD Card that came in the phone when you got it.
2)Put a little alcohol on the connecter end of it.
3)Insert and remove it a couple of times to clean the ports.
4)Leave your prophet for a little while
5)Insert your SD Card, and it will worK!!

While putting some music onto my memory card i noticed that it was showing that there was only about 100 mb of space left when there should have been 5-6 GB. This was showing both on the phone and on my laptop when i plugged it in with the usb cable.
I took the card out and put it back in again and did a soft reset but now it just says "not installed" in the memory bit in settings and i cant access anything on the card.
Ive tried a different memory card and a few soft resets but it still wont recognise that theres a card inserted. Can anyone help me with this?

i had the same problem with my HD but it happened when i was downloading to the phone( a problem quiet a few others have had too) my HD just wont recognize the card, nor will my pc now, i think the hD has corrrupted the card, i have got another card and it is working fine, this is a known problem with the HD/card, give your phone provider a call as it is covered under warrenty
I tried a 4 GB card from my old n95 but it was no different.
And i bought the phone on ebay so i cant go back to the service provider. Doh!!

Did you flash your ROM in the near past?

The ROM version is 1.14.405.3 (22273) WWE so its a standard ROM. Like i said i tried another card and that wasnt recognised by the phone or by my computer via usb so could it be a hardware problem? Ill try emailing HTC and see if they can help
Well the memory cards back but its showing i only have 0.3mb of space left and when i plugged it into my computer via active sync a services.exe error message came up on the phone

as mentioned in the thread I gave to you, try to backup your data of the card and format it (fat32, 32 kb cluster) then restore your data. ready

I am a newbie so please be patient with me.
I'm not sure whether this is the correct forum, so I'll post the same post in upgarde as well - please forgive me if I made a mistake.
I got 2 wizards off eBay (seperately), and they seem to work fine.
I upgraded to wm6.5 after reading your great instructions. It seems that I succeeded in that.
However, I tried to put mini SD cards but they are not recognized, and I'm tearing my hair out. I started with 4GB cards, but they were not recognized. I returned the cards, after reading that the wizard doesn't support more than 2GB. I got now 2 GB cards, but they are not recognized either.
What's going on here? is it the upgrade, or what?
Is there something I should have done - a patch or something?
I find it hard to believe that the fault is in the phones, since it's the same with both of them - I believe it's a small chance that both of them are faulty in reading cards.
Please help - I am desperate.

well it seems that the rom you flashed has problems with storage card drivers this is common in certain 6.5 roms it even happen in one of mine.
just flash an official wm5 rom to test the sd... if it works then you know the 6.5 rom you have is broken.

After I've done that, and presuambly that my SD cards are recognised, can you recomend me a good WM6.5 that will not cause problems, and I'll be able to use?

Well, the card was sitting fine in the slot - clicking and making the turned off phone to react and turned on. However, I decided to simply add pressure to the card and see if there's any difference. So.... I stuck a little piece of plastic in the slot. Magic: hard-reset, and than it was recognised and works perfect!
Is that stupid or what? I did it on both 2 phones and it's working. May I suggest it's a real defekt in the design of the Wizard...?
are you certain that the card is not an SDHC??
Hello everyone, I have a serious problem and I was searching over the internet to find a solution but failed. So I had a Ale L21c185b120, then I updated it with the firmware c185b525 middle East and African version available on the Huawei consumer pk page. After the update everything was fine, all my apps, files, sd card was there. But I noticed that phone was a bit slow so I decided to factory reset it. I took the Sd card out of the phone, also the card tray was out and I did a factory reset. Here starts the problem. When phone rebooted and I put the card again, nothing happens and card was not read by the phone. There was not a single error etc like card is damaged etc. It's just like phone doesn't give a damn either sd card is in or out. I checked sd card in another phone and also in Pc. It's been read by both means card is perfectly fine. Even I formatted the card from Pc but still in vain. Also no other card is being detected by the phone now. I just wanted to confirm is it a firmware or hardware problem?
BTW phone went on notifying me of new updates and now it's on b572. Plz help?

Yes its updated, its now on c185b572. Still problem is there. i am not able to find a solution so it means i can't save a trip to service center.
