I have noticed that when I update ROM from the original HTC to Dopod one, the last two 00 at the end become 01 on the dopod ROM.
Has anyone observed this? My WeatherMate code is not recognised and I have to ask for a reset on their server Looks like they use IMEI and not user name to generate the code. I may have to consider their software a bad buy and look for one that is more "tweaker friendly"
Am I the only one with this issue?
my imei changes from ...02 to ...01 at the end. no hassles with it yet though.
wonder what would happen if i try and reunlock with imeicheck file???
anybody reinstalled an orig rom and noticed if imei is "corrected" again?

I am sick of the old ROM, and the outdated Radio. I think many problems can be solved if I can upgrade my O2 Exec ROM to the new JARJAR one from a month ago that was posted on clubimate.
I know I need to use a tool called NO_ID something to make my machine accept a different ROM than O2, say the Jasjar ROM.
THREE PROBLEMS:
1) After making the upgrade, can I CHANGE my DEVICE ID back to the one which I've had before? I have a program that I purchased for a lot of money and it works by the device id only! They are not willing to give me a new version. So I gotta be able to change my Device ID back to the one I had. Is it possible? Would the JJ ROM work after the upgrade if the DeviceID is changed?
2) Can I safely and absolutly for sure revert back to the old ROM which I had? Just in case something will happen?
3) How can I get the latest OFFICIAL Imate rom? Clubimate will not let me download it I guess, because I don't own an IMEIA of a JJ but rather of the Exec.
I appreciate the help!

What do you mean "Device ID" ? Example please? All the software I've seen so far uses the Owner name as a basis for it's code, but sounds like you mean something else. If you mean the IMEI base code of the phone, that won't change and will stay the same.

There should be no problems. I can't give you a 100% on that because I don't want you coming after me in the very rare circumstances there are problems, but I've flashed my Universal about 15 times in the week I've had it and even though I had a few problems (Radio ROM's) I was always able to reflash it/get it working again (including back to the original ROM).

It's on the FTP site:

and see this page for working out which ROM you want:

Thanks for being helpful with the links I'll check them
Regarding Device ID. That is EXACTLY what I meant, I didn't make a mistake. My program goes by the DEVICE ID. I think it works in a similar manner to how the Jasjar Rom update does. That is checking that your device ID states it's really a Jasjar and not XDA, QTEK or Dopod. I have a program that I paid $100 and it says it goes by device ID.
It says my DEVICE ID is: 355195001182280158000050BF3F5120
and that is will not work on any other device.
That said,
I know that the NO_ID hack down here is supposed to delete my Machine's device ID. So I'm afraid it will not work anymore... BTW: My IMEI begines with part of that long device ID string but that string is longer that the IMEI I se on the Settings->Device Information
Thanks

I don't get it. The WIKI page for Universal says that Uni_ROM_1.30.68 is a test rom?!?
Uni_ROM_1.30.68
WARNING: This is a test ROM and may damage your device
So how can I get the OFFICIAL LATEST Imate Rom without going to clubimate which I can't ? (I have Exec not imate)
Hello all,
I have a problem with my device. I have loaded a new ROM and it changed my "I M E I"!!! I want to return to the original one. I have done a hard reset and it does not come back to the original one.
I have not a backup of the previous ROM.
Any brilliant idea please?
Thanks in advance,
A.
Flashing your ROM does not change the IMEI of your phone.
What esle have you done to your phone?
I gave it to a friend of a friend to change the OS to Spanish, but now the IMEI is not the original one
I can't not use it like a phone now because this friend has not idea how to recover. I want to leave the same that it's under the battery on my device.
Thanks in advance.
Alejandro.

I doubt you'll find any help for that here. This "friend of a friend" did something beyond flashing your ROM.
Don't know what he did... I just want to go back to the original's IMEI of my device...
Does he changed the ROM or something like that? I'm kind of confused.
Thanks.
A.
Whilst it is not possible to corrupt your IMEI when doing a ROM update you often need to have your phone unlocked before an update will work. The corruption can occour when you do the unlock. Some of the ROM updates available have unlock programs built in to them so your friends friend may not have been aware of it. I have performed over 20 upgrades / unlocks on various K-Jams and whilst I have only ever come accross the problem once it is a pain the ass to sort out.
I am assuming you are now getting a mesage saying something about data crashes and you only get it when you have the SIM card in the phone. If this is the case you will need to contact the guys at www.imei-check.co.uk and dip your hand in your pocket to the tune of 40 bucks.
You can read more about it on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=51722&highlight=

After trying to update my rom to PDAMobiz_Dopod_P800W_AKU301_v1.1.2_PowerMap
My HTC p3300 froze.
I guess its my own fault not using a compatible rom. But its not so clear what rom fits what.
Anyway
As far a i have figured i need a original swedish rom to put my HTC p3300 back to life.
I have tired with the WWE rom from the wiki but it wont work.
PLEASE help me here
//Clanman
I think you should have CID unlocked your device first from www.imei-check.co.uk, before trying another rom, may be they can help you out if you contact them.
So what u are saying is that I cant fix this myself. Even if I got the right rom file?
Could u please explain exactly what cid unlocking is and why are my HTC locked.
I mean its a flashable device. Why must I pay someone to unlockit before I can update it.
If HTC delivers a new rom update do i still have to cid unlock it?
//Clanman
please search the forum and you will see each rom are locked to country-language-network settings, if you get swedish rom then it should work but I don't think you will find other than original english HTC rom
look here
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Artemis
I think you can find a swedish rom here if you have your imei number
http://www.smartmobile.se/item.aspx?id=795
Ok thanks.
But i guess the only way to find out your imei number is to dial *#06#
As my phone is stuck at boot I cant get to the number.
At least Im learning how not to do things.
I guss i have to talk to the guys at www.imei-check.co.uk
Thanks u guys for helping me out

Yes, you can. It is also printed on the label underneath the battery, and it may also be available on the cartboard box the phone was shipped in, if you still have it.
Ok i will check it when I come home.
Thanks.
You made me see a light in the darkness

I just want to Say thank you guys.
It worked perfectly. I now have my phone back in working conditions.
I might still send it to the iemi guys to have it unlocked
Best regards

You don't have to send it physically, but they will send you a file, based on your unique IMEI number. That file contains some sort of code which unlocks your device.
Yeah u are right. I realized it myself when I went to their homepage

But this ROM sets your IMEI to XXXXXXX that right? :-/
my imei is corrupt
hi,,,the imei got corrupted upon me flashing it with a rom i obtained from another site ,,,since then its messed up my imei ,,,the sad thing is if this handset got stolen i dont think the network providers can do nothing to block it or barr it and i messed up my warranty
i,ve tried to speak to other engineers about this they dont wanna know because imei modification or even messing with it in the u.k is very illegal but all i want to do is get my original imei back and seems no one will help me or even point me to the right direction of doing this ,,thus i have lost my gps that wont work anymore
.
i tried using the tool called iwizard which can modify or change imei's on htc platforms but it doesnt support the athena its only for older model handsets.
besides the roms from xda developers i have been using since i owned a blueangel device and not 1 of them has caused me problems only serious issue i have had is with mr lumpistefans rom which has made my wallaby device dead!! and i am saddened to lose my old wallaby because of his roms
I'm sorry to hear of you news. I'm aware that IMEI alteration is illegal in the UK, but thought that for genuine reasons such as this some of the phone shops you find round major towns such as London may be able to assist (for a fee). If you take original documentation, like the sticker on the box and the unit to verify that that was the genuine IMEI, and it is restoration that you're after not alteration..... I don't know, someone might be able to help...
---
But just to confirm, if I use the German WM5 T-Mobile ROM on my UK Ameo, that currently has a English WM6 it should operate, and keep my IMEI... the only thing will be the language, which I take it that CAB file you provided will restore, and EVERYTHING will be in English? That right?
cheers!
my imei is corrupt
hi and yes buddy all should be fine like i said this rom is ok and genuine from german t-mobile site and the same rom is available on the ftp developers site ,,just use the the english cab file and your ready to go
and in theory this cab file should work on other foreign language roms also
and i did try to contact shops regarding my imei none want to help they said nothing can be done
I had recently flashed my rom to wm6.5 without thinking much at all.
I then find out that my imei is now different from what is printed on hte phone (under the battery)
As I dont really like the WM6.5 rom, I used the rom from this thread to go back to wm6.1, everything looks the same as i 1st got the phone. BUT the imei shown in "Device ID" and "About" remains different from the original imei on the phone. I also checked it by *#06#.
So where did I get this imei no from? Did i get it from the wm6.5 roms?
I search and yet to find a tool to edit the imei yet. any advice from anyone pls?
Hello Frank, have a custom Rom wm 6.5 installed aswell and indeed my IMEI also changed. Did not pay attention to it sofar, so thanks for pointing this out.....
Think that a different IMEI is not so much an issue unless you have to bring it to HTC for repair.....therefor always the recommendation to back-up your original Rom.....with original IMEI
Change of the IMEI might be the problem. And the big one. As I know, changing of IMEI is illegal in almost all countries and might be prosecuted. Also your mobile phone operator can put it on blacklist and you will not be able to connect to network. More here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=276851
Anyway, there are some tools available, but I can't point you directly. Try to google them.
frankbeer, Frank Caarls: Which ROM do you use? I can take a closer look at it. And please send me that new changed IMEI via PM.
The last 2 digits of the IMEI can change, they are the Software Version Number (SVN).
Only the 1st 15 matter.
Dave
Hello Dave, is correct....last 2 digits changed......my IMEI under battery only shows first 15 numbers.....
Frank Caarls: Then you are making false alarm. Next time please study, what is IMEI and from how much number it is composed. And as I told you changing of IMEI is a problem and that is why I posted that link, so please make fun from somebody else. Btw. you cannot backup IMEI in your ROM.
