T-Mob MDA Vario - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Hi Everyone,
I have just literally purchased a T-Mobile MDA Vario. The only thing I don't like is the fact that it will no doubt arrive full of T-MObile sh*t.
I have browsed the web and from what I can tell, it looks possible to install the Qtek 9100 ROM on this device if I want to?
Does anyone/everyone have any recommendations as to whether one ROM is better than the other?
I am looking for a simple, stable functional ROM, I don't want anything jazzy or customised by the operator (like my T-Mobile SDA II was!!!!)....
Thanks!
Mike

Qtec ROM

I have an MDA Pro currently running the I-Mate JASJAR ROM, I just wondered, how does the Qtec rom compair to this?
I'm tempted to reflash my MDA to remove the I-mate branding.
Thanks,
David.
i have a jasjar and cant imagine anything being worse than the rom that came with or even the update that came out around nov 2005. i am now very happy with the latest xda exec o2 rom (came out end of dec 2005). i have heard that the qtek one is pretty good - there are some discussions in these forums if you hunt around
I had QTEK ROM in Spanish, then just upgraded to the English version (which BTW is older) and it seems to run faster than the spanish one, go figure.
I plan to try the O2 over the weekend.
I've upgraded to the qtec rom, I like its minimal install!
The device seems to run much faster, and apart from the qtec splash screen, the thing really is unbranded!

Is there a way to make the extended rom visibable?

I have a t-mobile MDA, and want to use the empty space left on the extended rom like I used to on my old pocket pc (hp 6315). Is this possible? I kinda' remember seeing a post like that here a while back but I can not find it any more. I appreciate any help.

judging from your icon and you saying MDA
makes one believe it's a walliby and they have
no extented rom at all
No, T-Mobile MDA (the new one).
I have a T-Mobile MDA, the newly release one. I will have to check my profile and change that icon.
T-mobile makes a few MDA and the new one could be old in some countries, can you be a bit more to the point as in what type.
t-mobile MDA
It is the same as the qtek 9100, and the htc wizard.

Upgrading a t-mobile mda pro with another operator's rom

Is upgrading a t-mobile mda pro with another operator's rom workable? I know it's technically possible but before I risk my expensive toy I'd much rather know if someone has tried it out before, and if so, with which operator's rom??
TIA!!!
I do it all the time, only thing is you have to have your operators mms/gprs/utms settings.

Create a ROM backup before changing to the new one- just in case of any problems or indeed if you had to return the device under warranty.
Is there a rom that's preferable to use? Or are they all the same, hardware support wise?
Please pretty please? I'll settle for knowing which rom you upgraded your tmob mda pro with :-D
And BTW this is my P 100 post
Hi, I have the latest imate rom currently running on my TMobile MDA Pro, it works absolutly fine. TMob do have an AKU2 rom in production, infact it is shipping with newly purchased Pro's but as yet does not seem to be available for existing customers
If you do install the imate rom you can find the GPRS/MMS etc settings you'll need here and full instructions for doing the upgrade can be found in this post over at 4WinMobile.com.

Confused newbie - Need advices

Hi guys,
I'm looking forward to get myself a QTEK 9100 but I am from Canada and getting one is pretty hectic. As a result, I turned myself on ebay to look for one.
The prices of the Factory unlocked QTEK 9100 are just ridiculous. Obviously their prices were boosted.
I was then looking to see that I could get myself a T-MOBILE MDA.
I understand it is the same, and im pretty sure you guys have heard this million of times.
I was wondering to unlock this cellphone would lokiwiz - HTC Wizard Unlocker UPDATE Version 0.2b be enough?
After unlocking, would it behave like a "factory unlocked" QTEK 9100?
Also would anybody know a place where I could get myself a QTEK 9100 in Canada or that ships to canada and that has resonable prices? Otherwise i will go with the T-Mobile MDA
Would it be smarter to just wait to buy the HTC TyTN?
I know i wouldnt be able to use the 3G Features here because the network is not there yet.
Thank you for your time guys
can only answer the Lokiwiz question, yes it is enough. Used it myself before upgrading to X's custom 2.26. Good luck with your other ?'s
Im not sure if i read this correctly, but I think what I understood from it, that T-MOBILE had a sim unlocker and a rom updater that was available free?

looking for htc typhoon firmware

Hi all,
I've got an orange spv c500
It's onlucked in every sense of the word and I'm really fed up with the orange firmware.
Can anyone direct me to a more original roms like the htc of qtek ones?
I can't register on the qtek site because the imei number is unknown (as it's an orange phone qtek won't support it)
It doesn't have to be wm5, in fact I'd prefer wm3 I just want to get rid off the orange non-sense.
Can anyone point me to the right rom and perhaps a little fool(me)-proof tutorial?
