I have an MDA Pro currently running the I-Mate JASJAR ROM, I just wondered, how does the Qtec rom compair to this?
I'm tempted to reflash my MDA to remove the I-mate branding.
Thanks,
David.
i have a jasjar and cant imagine anything being worse than the rom that came with or even the update that came out around nov 2005. i am now very happy with the latest xda exec o2 rom (came out end of dec 2005). i have heard that the qtek one is pretty good - there are some discussions in these forums if you hunt around
I had QTEK ROM in Spanish, then just upgraded to the English version (which BTW is older) and it seems to run faster than the spanish one, go figure.
I plan to try the O2 over the weekend.
I've upgraded to the qtec rom, I like its minimal install!
The device seems to run much faster, and apart from the qtec splash screen, the thing really is unbranded!

Can someone tell me what the Qtek V1640 is?
I have been looking on the web and can't really find any information about it in English.
I've been looking to upgrade my O2 XDA II to an HTC Universal and have found that Vodafone are able to supply the V1640 which they believe to be the same as the Qtek 9000 which I can see from trawling through loads of info is the same as the XDA Exec (or almost).
Does this mean the V1640 is the same device?
Is it the same spec or is it a cut down version?
Does someone have a comparison sheet available for all the different versions of the HTC Universal?
Hi there,
I left Vodafone recently to get an O2 Exec. Their retentions team promised me they could get me a Qtek 1640V which they repeatedly promised was their name for a Qtek 9000, ie an HTC Universal. I spoke to loads of different people and they all promised the same thing.
So, I waited (lots of mistakes over delivery) and waited and eventually I received a Qtek 16*20* V... which is an HTC Blue Angel. Furious, I called up... everyone now insistent that the 1640 is unavailable from Vodafone.
Got my Exec now and it's beautiful, just beautiful.
My advice? Avoid vodafone if you want to ever get your hands on a Universal.

Hi Matt
Yeah I read your post before posting this one.
I orginally was with O2 but there service was appalling so I moved across to Vodafone I've had some serious difficulties with Vodafone in the past but persistence paid off and they are now very VERY helpful... In fact much more so than O2 every were so doubt I will ever go back to O2.
I know Vodafone are preparing the full launch of the product so they are likely to be suffering supply problems just now before they do.
Before they do and before I spend my free upgrade on the VP1640 I want to make sure it is up to spec.
Do you or does anyone else have any more information that can shed light on the VP1640 please?
Anyone can help out on this?
Received the V1640. Nice looking device.
Photo's to follow shortly.
In fact received 2 One for myself and another for my partner.
I can confirm I have a V1640, took me telling me they did them before i got one, but it is definatelty a Universal!

Hi, I'm trying to get experiences of MDA PRO owners that have upgraded their ROM, what would you reccommend, what works etc.... whilst I know all the devices are Universals etc... i've got a theory that i'm trying to test out, hence the topic.
Cheers
im using the new o2 rom it's fine
latest qtec rom works fine on my dutch mda pro...
Qtek
After trying JJ O2 Dopod I stick with Qtek latest rom in my opinion the best.
I use the imate, no problems yet, all seems to be good.
not sure if I am even bothered about the long delayed upcoming new rom, if the only benefit is bluetooth stereo headsets, i amay not bother.
Latest Qtek ROM is fine (exceept UMTS/GPRS switch)
Latest Qtek ROM is fine: fast, stable etc. Except for UMTS/GPRS stability and slow switch (UMTS<->GPRS) with Radio 1.0.9: sometimes it needs a soft reset to restore connectivity.
NL T-Mobile MDA Pro with unlim UMTS (384Kbps)
I have tried them all except the dopod rom and the vodafone.
I would stick to the qtek latest rom for my mda pro.
Hi,
I've had my Qtek 2020i for about a year now (waiting for the Hermes !) but work have just given me a Blackberry piece of garbage.
I'm currently running ROM 1.11.00 and Radio 1.03
I see that on the O2 site there is a download available for the O2 phones, but I'm unsure if I can install this on my phone as it is neither an O2 phone or on the O2 network (Qtek phone on UK Voda).
Is there an update I can add to give me Blackberry connectivity so that I can ditch the BB and just use my Qtek ?
Cheers
Steven
I have O2 Exec which I flashed months ago with the i-mate Jasjar rom.
I hope i-mate won't forget JJ users like they always do forget their customers after about two rom upgrades. They did that with the i-mate PDA2K which I was one of the first to purchase only to leave us with numerous bugs and only one or two rom updates.
I am wondering if there's a newer ROM than what I have
ROM version: 1.30.76 WWE
ROM date: 02/20/06
Radio version: 1.09.00
Protocol version: 42.42.P8
Still got pretty annoying issues with the machine (same i did with the PDA2k).
Sometimes won't connect to UMTS/GPRS - soft reset needed.
Sometimes won't dial phone numbers i always dial - says 'can't complete the command' or some similar ****.
Sometimes will look for the network endlessly. at times I see i don't get calls and check only to see that the machine was 'searching' for network for hours.
Sometimes machine won't wake up to alerts. It's only when I get a phone call that it awakes it and then i hear all the alarms.
These are all stuff making the machine a nice game, but not something sturdy and reliable you can count on. I new each ROM is usually better and was wondering if there's anything better that I already have.
Thanks guys.
go get Dopod 1.30 or Qtek 1.30 that will be better for you
The latest one is T-Mobile NL ROM 130.115. the second latest is T-Mobile UK Rom 130.114... Third Latest is Dopod WWE Rom 130.111. Forth is Xda Exec Rom 130.107... Fifth Latest is VodaPhone WWE 130.97... Qtek is 6th with 130.77 and I-mate is 7th with 130.76
Has anyone heard if I-mate is going to release a new ROM with A2DP?
I know we can hack/install other ROMs with A2DP, but before I go through the hassle of an update (re-entering all of my data service & e-mail settings, and then re-installing software), I was wondering if a new official I-mate ROM is immanent???
Hi Everyone,
I have just literally purchased a T-Mobile MDA Vario. The only thing I don't like is the fact that it will no doubt arrive full of T-MObile sh*t.
I have browsed the web and from what I can tell, it looks possible to install the Qtek 9100 ROM on this device if I want to?
Does anyone/everyone have any recommendations as to whether one ROM is better than the other?
I am looking for a simple, stable functional ROM, I don't want anything jazzy or customised by the operator (like my T-Mobile SDA II was!!!!)....
Thanks!
Mike
