Where is GPS control panel on Qtek 9100???? Funny, the help describes in detail where it should be, but it is not there
I tried this:
WM5 built in GPS control panel
For some reason this is not active in the settings of the JASJAR. To make it visible do the following:
Fire up a registry editor
Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MASCHINE\ControlPanel\GPS Settings
Delete the DWORD marked "hide"
Add a DWORD called "Group" and give it the value of "2" (dec)
The GPS panel will now show up in your connection settings.
Click to collapse
Soft-reset the qek 9100, but still can't find it in the Connections??
Help pls?
There is also a 'redirect' entry in that registry location.. remove that one, and it will apear in your settings menu
Hello
You have to
keep the Hide key but change the value to 0 and
delete the redirect value and
soft reset
then it appears

Thats why you are supposed to SET IT!
So once again....
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MASCHINE\ControlPanel\GPS Settings
1. Remove the REDIRECT
2. Add DWORD Hide and set Value to 0
3. Add DWORD Group and set Value to 2
4. Soft-Reset*
5. There ya go!
Its not that hard - just follow the directions and you will succeed!
*Be sure to do a correct Softreset! Either use a tool like Pocketplus to do a softreset or turn off the ppc by pushing the powerbutton very long untill you are asked if you really want to turn off the device.
That way the changes made to the registry are really saved to the ROM !

Does this mean I can force my GPS receiver to communicate with designated ports on my Vario?
And if so how do I get it working properly?

Get yourself the GPS Menu in the settings and you'll get total control over the used COM PORTs used by the navigation software and the navigation hardware.
i tried that hack today, but i have the problem that my wizard "resets" the reg entries i changed to the default (only redirect)
I'm using the 2.18 german qtek rom, any ideas? I think a cab file would help.

You have to wait a while before register changes would be in the ROM, dont soft-reset immediately, or you could just turn your device off with the power button (hold it for 5 secs.) and turn it on again.
But then again.....this hack doesn't work on the latest Rom's
The latest Roms don't have the GPS control panel in it, I also tried it but didn't work.
i waited some time, then soft resets and it works! thanks! (2.18 Rom)

Well, I've tried to play with different hardware/software port settings; neither MioMap nor Google Maps see whichever port I set. Anyone found a good combination?

This thread is over three years old, so you might not get many responses. To answer your question, I use Program port 0 and Hardware port 6 in External GPS. The latteer port must match the port you assigned in the bluetooth settings. Make sure you disable the check mark that sets up a secure connection. This is also found in the bluetooth settings.
To secure a Qtek2020i i must disable the phone buttons.
Only the GPRS mode must stay in use. (no call)
Any solution is welcome.
THX for your help
Dany (tontonpc)
Do you just want to disable the buttons or the incoming and outgoing calling facility?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=16135&highlight=disable+button
THX for the link.
I have read and find the AE ButtonPlus verry nice but not freeware.
Ther are also an old version free but...
I will just disable the red and green button.
Any suggestion ??? registry documentation ?
THX Again for your help, and for the link ;-)
Dany (tontonpc)
Why disable the buttons ?
Surely you should block calls using Settings->Phone->Services->Call Baring
I assume if you set this up it can be password protected.

I know how to remap the phone buttons, but i don't know if this will actually create a "secure" Qtek. This is because even if the phone won't execute by pressing the buttons, it can execute with the stylus. Now the solution isn't exactly simple, but it can be done. The "trick" is that the first application that maps the green and the red button, locks them and afterwards no other application can map them. In order to achieve this you must create an application, which will be started either by services.exe or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\init which wil map the two keys.
To register the two buttons, you must execute the
RegisterHotKey API
The virtual key code for the green (talk) button is 114 (decimal not hex) and for the red (close) is 115 (decimal again). The fsModifiers parameter as stated in the API must be zero (0). You can give any IDs for these two buttons as long as they are unique.
Happy remaping.
I agree with CSExpert. For securing the phone, you're probably better off using TAPI methods to disable the line, standard API stuff to find and close the cprog.exe app, and possibly consider disconnecting the Phone's Modem programmatically.

Hi all:
This is my 1st post, 1st of all many thanks to all, and especially to FAMAN and his great spanish ROMS:
Question:
Has the trinity the button 3 & 4 that existed on previous PDA (running WM 2003)?
Im trying to reasgin those buttons on "garmin Que" but only button 1 & 2 (voice call & cammera) can be used, the "soft keys" do not react as buttons 3 & 4.
Is there any registry hack to solve that?
best r.
j.
I got the same problem. I'm surfing around the wiki to see if anyone else has already the same pbm.
Regards,
x jagudo:
You can use AEBPlus
http://ae.inc.ru/aebplusdownload.php
it is able to remap the softkeys to "virtual button 2" and "virtual button 3"
I'm still trying to find a fix using registry

hello,
how do i map left and right softkey with helmi mobile 6 ? off course i know i can do it by start/settings/... - but i need another way - since i want to use "menukeyhelper2.exe" - a program that enables applications with non-mobile5-menues (softkey-menues) to use with softkeys!
but menukeyhelper2 does not work with "soft-mapped-softkeys" - on real mobile6-devices-with real softkeys it works.
or is there an alternative to menukeyhelper ?
thanx

Alternate way is to directly map in Registries.

I don't know of any apps that do this. Maybe someone else knows.
If you are doing this by registry the following may help by editting
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Keys]
http://forum.brighthand.com/showthread.php?t=214176
and this

Hi All,
I am sure many of you have some tweaks for the Touch to make it a better phone. I prefare "Registry" tweaks, there is a little lag when you end call, like 3 seconds & i cant find the Tweak for it in the registry.
So if you have some tweaks you think they are usefull, please feel free to post them here.
Thank you All.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\PHONE\PhoneExtendSetting]
Change the value of EndCallTime from 3000 to 1000 (that's one second). Enjoy!

what does it realy do? more precise endCallTime?
Thanks
Math
Yeah... in milliseconds... 3000 = 3, 1000 =1... pretty neat!
"there is a little lag when you end call, like 3 seconds & i cant find the Tweak for it in the registry"
It reduces that lag from 3000ms to 1000ms (or whatever value you type)
Anyone nows where i can find that for a nl rom ? PhoneExtendSetting is not there when i click the phone folder

where is this setting?
i dont have that registry key already... should i add it? if so what exactly should the registry key say?
unfortunatly that key does not exsist in the registry, its avalaible on the Touch Dual, so anymore on that ?
Can we add that key ? Anymore usefull tweaks?
i have touch enhanced 256 MB version with English ROM and even I dont have this key.
Please help somebody. this 3 secs wait is damn annoying for me
Rajeev
Seems to be a very nice tweak for the Touch Dual.
Have the Touch Surface 1.31WWE on my Elf, but reg-key unfortunately also not avail in that rom.
We might ask very nicely to one of the great cooks on this forum...
Lets hope someone knows how to cut that 3 seconds lag, its ticking me off.
Pretty Please =)
Just add it...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\PHONE\PhoneExtendSetting (not that there shouldn't be a space between Extend and Setting)
3000 = 3 seconds and so out

So we must make a new folder inside the PHONE folder named PhoneExtendSetting. In that folder add a new regkey with the name EndCallTime and give that the value 1000. Is that correct ?

You need a registry editor to access to this section of Windows Registry
where do i find that registry tweak downloader thing at?
I tried it on the Touch and I don't see any difference. What delay are you exactly talking about, is it the time the Touch takes to get back from the Dialing screen to the Home screen? If so, it doesn't work on the 'normal' Touch.
ok, i have exported the file using Klimregedit. just import it on ur elf & it should work, i have the settings set to 0 "ZERO" not 1000.
Please rename the extension to .reg
