pleassssse help me ,
i have a laptop with wifi and a DSL internet conection
and i ask
is that possible to access the net (DSL) using my universal
(without using GPRS ) ,via wifi or bluetooth
i mean using my laptop as wireless modem , NOT my universal as modem ,
and thanksssssss
pleaseeeee help
If you're using your laptop on WiFi to access your DSL connection, is there any reason why you don't just use WiFi on your universal?
thanlks for your reply , but my DSL connected via ethernet cable to my laptop ,and my laptop has a wireless lan on it , so can i make my laptop as a wireless modem ?
If you connect the Universal to your laptop it will use the internet connection over the Activesync connection.
:edit: Just reread, but yes you can also set your laptop WiFi connection to Ad Hoc mode to allow WiFi connections to it and use a shared internet connection that way. You better find a HOWTO or something for that though since it is not so straightforward.

Sure you can - via either a direct, active BT / USB ActiveSync connection OR a Wi-Fi p2p connection or, if you install the Widcomm BT stack, even BT PAN p2p.
Please read my related articles - I've published many articles on all these technologies.
thank u alll
i'll try it and give you my feed back
thanks again

but have bluetooth and want to use your pda with wifi as
a means to get wifi access on your pc
Thanks 4 ur fast reply
My PC have bluetooth & Wifi
My PDA Have only bluetooth (Himalaya)
By usung this software in PDA, is it possible to connect to the intrnet in area have wirelss Lan (no need to GPRS)?
Sorry 4 too much ques.
Regards
hhmmm
you can do that without any software at all
if you are connected to activesync with bluetooth
you have full access to the network your pc have
unless you block it
I can connect to internet through Activesync, no prob.
I was hopping to connect as if I have wifi, not through cridle
you can if your bluetooth stack support PAN
and you setup inet sharing http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=InternetOverBluetoothNetwork
Thanks man
I was hoping to link to the internet through Wireless network as if i have wifi
thanks again
you say
"My PC have bluetooth & Wifi
My PDA Have only bluetooth (Himalaya)"
if your pc is connected to the internet using wifi
and your pda is connected to your pc using PAN bluetooth
and you have internet sharing
then you have internet over wifi on your pda
well internet over bluetooth->wifi
I'm sorry if my sentences were not clear
I want to connect to the Internet while no PC beside me
Only Wireless network as if i have Wifi in the mobile
Could this happen by bluetooth?
Thanks for ur care to reply very fast.
no bluetooth only pda can not connect to a wifi network without a pc with wifi being the middleman
or another pda or mobile which can act as bluetooth modem for the pda without wifi
Thanks man u have been very helpfull
Hi to all,
i have a tytn ( schap's 3.54c wm6 rom ) and i'd like to know if there is a way to connect my laptop to internet using an ics connection throught wifi instead of usb or bt.
Now i'm using ics throught bt and i have a transfer rate up to 60 kbytes/sec when tytn is on hsdpa network ( 150 kbytes/s when using ics throught usb ) .
I think that ics throught wifi ( if possible ) will allow max transfer rate without the need of the usb cable... i hate cables , wireless is better
THX in advance .

i googled, found this link, might not be the solution you want. but do let us know if you got anything to work.
http://mobilesociety.typepad.com/mobile_life/2006/08/how_to_share_yo.html
Thx mangokun , but this isn't what i need ... it explain internet sharing from 2 or more pc assuming 1 of them is connected to internet vai the mobile device through usb/BT .
I need something like the existing Internet Connection Sharing application built in WM6 but using the internal wifi of the tytn instead of usb/bt.
thx again

There currently is no phone (period) that shares it's data connection over WiFi.

Hi, Folks,
I was trying to connect a HTC TyTn II (Kaiser) to Internet over a bluetooth connection with a HTC Diamond, but no success...
First i tryed to connect using a DUN (Dial-up Network), but I don't know why, this dosn't work.
Second, i tryed to connect using the Internet Connection Share (ICS) on Diamond, but i don't found a way to join in a Bluetooh PAN with my Kaiser.
I've made a lot of searchs in this forum and the Google, but nothing that i found solves my problem.
In one of links/articles/wikis it tell me to use a Bluetooth Manager, but i don't have it.
Anyone has any idea to solve this problem?
Thx a lot! (and sorry about my english)
Try WmWifirouter. It essentially creates a P2P network over wifi. Was there a specific reason to use bluetooth?Im sure both devices have Wifi.

WMWiFiRouter does the job.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=477821
or icscontrol and set the private interface to BTPAN on the serving ppc
Don't forget to setup the connection as ad-hoc.
You won't be able to share the net in managed mode.
It is possible to share internet over bluetooth.
See Below

@ alpha2k
nice link. do you know if you can connect a PDA/Mobile through your PC's Broadband Connection? See my mini diagram below?
Mobile --- (through bluetooth)---> PC --(through WIFI/Cat5e) ---> Router ----> INTERNET
Thanks
hi all,
how can i connect to internet on my home computer thru my xperia???
YOu have to connect it via USB. Then in your programs folder (on X1) you open Internet Sharing and follow the "instructions". That's it. If you want to share internet via WLAN or BT, you need additional software. (At least for WLAN, not sure about Bluetooth - but BT is crap anyway).
thank you it works great on my gprs , but what software d i need if i wanted 2 use a wlan connection??

I just got a HTC Magician, and i don't know how to connect to wireless networks or how to search for them, can someone post a step by step guide please? or if the same question was previously asked please tell me where i searched for more then an hour.
Thanks
If you mean WIFI, you can`t. Magician does not have WIFI capabilities.
Some SD-Wifi adapters are supposed to work, but I don`t know the details.
i have been told that i can connect to wireless internet with it
Maybe Wireless internet via the gsm network (as in mobile internet)... no WiFi here.
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=134&c=o2_xda_ii_mini_htc_magician
there are also other options as in internet through bluetooth (and activesync) but Wifi is a big no go unless you have a Wifi SDIO card.
i understand thanks for the informations
the magician doesn't have a WIFI(GPS) installed. So you can do what you want, but it will never connect to WIFI.
