3G Browsing - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hi,
When i'm browsing over 3g my battery life is very short despite having four bars of signal. I'll get maybe three to four hours on 3G and nearlly twice that over GPRS. Is this about standard? From other posts I know the power consumption of 3G is greater but this seems a very short battery life.

yeah, 3g really drains the battery, the only suggestion I got is update your radio,. also get bandswithc and put it to gsm when your not browsing. or buy the 3000mah battery.

Looking is not a bad thing.

Making a phone call kills the battery?

Ok so I got a replacement for TyTN but now if I call anyone or anyone calls me and I talk for even a couple minutes the phone battery will get really hot and will die in under 3 hours being at 100% before the call...
The only fix is a hard reset and taking the battery out for a few minutes and then the phone will run cool as usual but the second a call is made bam! does the same thing again...
Is there a fix for this?
Or does anyone know what would cause it?? I have had it happen on different radios so the blame can't be there.
Or is it a hardware issue that I need another replacement for??
hermes's get hot. Thats a fact. they just shouldn't get too hot (4-5 hours of use, while charging, wifi on and so on...) because the heat could be transfered to the digitzer near the processor and if that happens the digitizer could become unresponsive (touchscreen->lookscreen^^)...
MY hermes is getting hot all day, if it gets too hot, I take an old cooler from a cpu, open the battery door and lie it on it ;-)

Make sure you are using a 1A charger. This was a huge headache for me when I had my Wizard, the dude sold me it with a RAZR 750mAh charger and it caused me to buy 5 new batteries until I figured this small fact out!

Dock and the whole time charging..

hey folks,
it's that never ending question i guess
i buyed that nice KIDIGI Dock for my dhd..it looks so pretty in it..and with the "Desk Clock" it adds a nice look to my desk.
so my question is, if its really that bad to keep it in there all the time. what about trickle charging? does usb support this?
i dont wanna damage my battery..
btw: when i get home, my battery is normally about 60% charged..if i put it in the dock whenever its on 60% it shouldnt damage it right? the memory effect can't happen on li-ion batterys compared to ni-cd ones i guess...
any tips?
how do you handle it?

ah btw: if you wanna have some pictures of the dhd in the dock, it's a pleasure to share them with you!
Li-ion battery does not have memory. They have a limited life time. Normally around 2 years. Whether you charge it or not, does not make a difference.
You can go read the boring details on Wikipedia.
ok thanks...so i think i'm gonna have that great look all the time
btw: this is it

What's your signal strength like? If the G5 is like any other phone a low signal can really eat through the battery because the radio transmitter has to constantly transmit at full power to hit the tower. Try using Wi-Fi if you aren't already doing so and see if that helps.

Radio shows as off+battery frain

So I have been having battery issues on my Note 3 for a while now. Android system has been a large offender of using my battery, but I've also noticed that there are gaps in my mobile network signal. From this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26891039&postcount=14 I'm gathering that my radio is off? This happens when screen is on, but mostly when it's off. During these times I can get texts, and everything works fine. Just my battery starts to drain faster. The area under my camera also gets rather hot. This is my 2nd Note 3 with this issue, the first one was RMAed because it would not get messages on time.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?
Running Jasmine ROM 2.4.1.

I believe with your radio off you should drain less battery. Mine does it too, and I have awesome battery life without being rooted. Usually well over 24 hours with heavy use, and 6 hours or more on screen time. I recently did a factory reset so maybe that's what you need for better life?

Terrible battery life?!

Hello.
So the name of the thread sums it all up: I get TERRIBLE battery life, barely two hours of screen on time. Why?
I am using the latest build of XOSP which many have said is the best for battery life, some getting 6 hours of screen on time. It dosen't last a day, 2 hours of screen on time is the max I can bet out of it even with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned off which I find very strange.

I even use Greenify and have hibernated basically all apps and I just can't understand to what I owe this drainage.
I am thinking of installing Boeffla, if so could you guys give me some cool Kernel settings below?
Cheers
You'll get your best battery on WiFi. You need to look at your signal strength and you will see if your phones getting weak signal it will chew through battery. Also boeffla on it's own is more performance. If you want battery change governor or try bluspark. Nothing really wrong with your stats other then mobile standby. Which I only get when I'm in bad coverage are for long periods of time.
Did u wipe cache and dalvik cache after flashing something?
Please do so if u didn't.
Also need the new rom to charge a few cycles before full potential on battery life.
