Change the O2 image that shows on boot? - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Hey there,
Just wondering... is it possible to change this image? ie the one that says 'O2' with the bubbles when your Exec loads after a reset.
I have a 640x480 PNG image which I'd like to use.
Thanks!
Dave

Yup right there
http://www.4winmobile.com/change-th...343.html?sid=494a2df12b48a1e8fdca8ae0e7bfb752
4winmobile say there updating so just wait a few hours.
If my memory serves me correctly, its an MS-DOS exe file that'll place the image you want into a file then you upload it via activesync.
I've done it myself and it works, it stays on even if you upgrade your rom.

HUGE thanks! Worked perfectly I've attached the file I've changed it to incase anyone wants it... it's very pretty lol. I got it from another forum (not my own work!!) and could be an offical Windows Mobile screen?
Dave

does this work on i-mate rom (latest official rom) ?
i have tried this process and have failed miserably

whoo hoo

YES, create a PNG image with 640X480 dimensions and name it "welcomehead.192". Now copy and paste "welcomehead.192" PNG image to the "Windows" folder using Total Commander and perform a soft reset.

awsome mate!
cheers

Not 640x480, but 640x640! Otherwise you will have cutted splash in portrait mode.

Yes that is true, but it is hard to find a good picture that would fit very nicely in the center of both landscape and portrait mode during soft reset. Since majority of the time, most people soft reset on landscape, it looks better to center the picture on one than both.

I have tried but didnt had ne luck as it has replaced my file can i get an imate image of the same dimension?

how about on a Wizard?
Anyone get this to work on a Wizard G3?
TIA,
-Padawan

Hleeo, anyone please kindly upload the original splash image form O2 EXEC, i'll change the splash screen, but i prefer to make bakcup before. (Who know I'll miss that screen sometime)
Thanks a lot bro...

my friend...i don't think so that we have a 3rd splash image...if you disable the password you can't see the "welcome image" (3rd image) my friend but nevertheless still you can change it....
its a "welcomehead.96.png" file from windows folder...320x320 pixel image. the files is hidden, so you have to change the folder option to see the files...use the resco file explorer to copy and replaced the files or you have to include it to the splash image changer cab together with two splash1/2.nb files and must be a hardcoded path...
Big thanks...you giving me a valuable idea to upgrade my splash image installer...again thanks....

Yes, you are tooooooooooooooooooo good, may be we can find about it.
Kenny.
I will waiting for your latest version, the orignal one really look like the one when hardware reset the XDA2, so better to change it . Haaaaaa.
 welcome!

Replace Windows Logo image

Please could someone tell me how the windows logo image (that appears after the boot splash image) can be replaced?
Although there are some threads about how to replace the boot splash image (that normally is operator-related) I couldn't find anywhere how to replace the windows logo. This logo is displayed after the boot image slpash for quite a long time (I think it's even longer that the boot image). I hope that this is so simple that everybody knows how to do it, so please help.
thank you!
Yes I want to know too !!
The utility on buzzdev is only for the Universal (qtek9000)
Yes!!!
I really, really, really would like to understand how to do this too...
I already changed the boot image and i skinned the whole windows mobile 5.0 look, incl. the phone dialer tool.
The only thing that is bothering me is when i reset my qtek 9100, right after my very nice boot image (in black) the stupid blue WM5 apears for a while, only to go back to the black look of my today screen.
So any help would be nice.
Thanks all.
Be happy!
Hello,
I hope you mean this.
The file in the windows directory is: welcomehead.96.png
This file is only diplayed when password is enabled.
Make a new image in Photoshop, imagesize is 320x320.
And save it as welcomehead.96.png
Then copy it to your ppc. and from there copy it into windows.
Good luck
This is the one I use
Too easy...
Man... cau u imagine how much time i spend figuring this one out???? If i only knew it would be so easy.
But after a while one does not remember wich procedures one already tried, so i guess i just changed the file as you said and it worked.
Somehow i thought the file was in ROM and could not be overwriten.
... strange thing
stay well all and many tkx.

Yoohoo.. it worked. Moving it with File Explorer to the Windows directory didn't work. Installed the free Total Commander and tried again. And succeeded. Changed the properties tot hidden, readonly and system.

splash screen changing and windows logo -splash no 2 ???

hi, i have managed to change the splash screen using buzz tools (t-mobile logo in my case) but how do u change or get rid of the other splash screen or what ever it it..in my case windows mobile logo ?? can i replace it or just have nothing.. i have read that it is welcomehead.192 which is in /windows but when i copy it to my PC i cannot see it anywhere. can anyone help with doing this ?? cheers
cudo
OK, i have sorted it out:
/windows/welcomehead.192.png - just make your own *.png file and replace the exisiting one. it must be 640x480 pix.
bye, and thanks for your help !
thanks for your finding. I will have a try
sorry i didnt find the post sooner CUDO, great of you to work this out, Keep up the good work
Hi, guys. I'm new for universal. I use O2 Exec and up Rom to Dopod 900. I like to use O2 splash screen but cannot find the pic of it.
Anyone can share the pic? Or where can I get it.
Thanks in advance.
hi there,
i'm looking forawrd to have the same original o2 splash screen on my dopod 900 too......any1 out there could guide us to do that?
regards
Hi,
how did you replace it? Active Sync can't replace it, he always tells me about an error that there would not be enough space...
Damn, would really like to have my own picture there....
MfG
MPW
@MPW: replace it by overwriting with another file with the same name!
You can even take a jpg with less quality and size and rename it to png file type, still works!
so all you need is a o2 wallpaper like on the start up.easy done i will see wot i can do.

SplashTool - convert old splash screen NB file to new format

I've created a small tool which will take a splash screen NB file created using madkat's NB image converter and convert it to the new splash screen format used in HTC Devices such as Kaiser or Titan. It just adds padding with zeros and the string "This is HTC splash signature" at the end.
Enjoy
Nice one pof! Many thanks for all your contributions.
can we use this in our ATOM? so the bootscreen splash can be change with this, did i get the idea right?

Image Converter not working.
Hello all.
It's been a while since I've been back here at XDA Dev. Was around when I had my Universal and hacked it to kingdom come. Now I have a HTC TyTN II. Had it for awhile. I've tried Dutty's ROMs and they are amazing. My problem is that I tried to create my splash images that I used to use on my Universal. However, the image convertor in the first post keeps giving me an error when I try to run it? I've attached the error. Was wondering if anyone could help. Also, is it possible to create the splash image from the Universal? However that one used to have a a 640x480 dimension. Let me know. Thanks.
same question ,pof will dis work in blue Angel with WM6
Wizard
can we use this in our Wizard with WM6?

I use to mess with alot of .ocx files when making misc yahoo tools long long ago. My thought would be to download a new copy of comdlg32.ocx and re-register it. I'm sure if you do a search on google you'll find them all over yahoo booter sites and such. All their prog's are dependent on various ocx files.

For future reference:
Place the file in %SYSTEMROOT%\system32
e.g.: C:\Windows\system32
Hi just tried the converter but it's corrupted. I get the error message:
Component 'comdlg32.ocx' or one of it's dependencies not correctly registered. A file is missing or invalid.
I tried downloading it again but keep getting the same result.
*EDIT: Found the solution in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334907&page=4 Post#37
This cabinet file contains the missing files which need to be put in the same folder as the nb converter.exe http://activex.microsoft.com/controls/vb6/comdlg32.cab
