Have any of you guys out there had video calling running on the exec? did you have any problems? i can not seem to make or recieve any.......trying do to through cross networks tho...vodaphone and 3....but it never works
I use a JJ on Vodafone 3G and I have managed to call my brother on "3". It works well but you do need a good UMTS signal otherwise there is a delay in transmission.
The Vodafone 3G system does know the difference between a 3G and non-3G phone number as well. It will will fail if you try to call a non-3G mobile number using the video call button.
I've been using my XDA Exec on Vodafone 3G and Video calling also works well (have only tried calling '3' network).
But it works even when the phone signal is just the antenna (no bars).
Do your calls just fail straight away, or do they ring for a bit then fail?
(The first time I tried, my calls would fail immediately after pressing the video call button.
It seemed that I needed to have a Video Calling provision on my account, nothing a quick call to customer support couldn't fix)
Hello,
I know the place in the phone options (on the band page) where you can
change the network from GPRS to UMTS (3G).
But is this possible to do programmatically with RIL or TAPI or another API
on the pocket pc device?
Thanks for any suggestions.
I support this request; Many topics on the board cover erratic behaviour with JJ, and ppl return their device to no avail. Swopping to another operator often helps. The issues SEEMS to be a poor UMTS reception with a given SIM or location, and this results in JJ trying to connect to UMTS or even latching on to UMTS but with an abysmal signal. After more than 15mins (annecdotal) of this is fails to ever go back to GSM without a reboot.
Solution is to turn off UMTS, but that's darned inconvenient cos you OFTEN want 3G speed (mail, RSS, google/surf).
Here's a way forwards; can someone tell us what reg entry gets changed when we select GSM vs UMTS? I will then write a couple of .reg files that can be launched from iLauncher (or whatever). Buzz coule probably write a switching app like he did for BT.
i have the same problem
When i use my Universal at home, there is pretty low level of UMTS/WCDMA signal and full level of standard GSM signal. By default Universal changes between those two sources automaticaly. But in my case, the quality of WCDMA signal is often varying just around critical level. So the result is that Universal changes band to GSM and back. And then again. And again. And... Due this, there is sometimes not possible to make data connection, because Uni is so much occupied by changing bands back and forth...
I would like to find a better solution, than select only GSM manually in phone settings. Especially because i have to unselect it manually every time when leaving home :-(
Is there any way to set treshold value (i expect increase it) for automatic switching between WCDMA and GSM?
I still do not know how to switch from UMTS to GPRS and back
with some API function (or AT command) on the device.
If I get these Infos from someone that would be great.
Then I could write a tool that checks the signal quality
and the network status and if UMTS signal is too low
it will activate GPRS.
I think this can be done with RIL API but have not found
any infos.

Hello, I have another newbie question
If you have a 3g device, does it support simontaneous voice and data over any network or only 3g networks (hsdpa, etc..)?
And on the wizard, if I'm on gprs/edge will I receive call notifications? Or will they show up after I end the gprs/edge session? (I'm on the WM6 XM6R5.1 with 2.71.11 radio if that makes a difference)
if this helps you i tell u that i can use my wizard on a call and the same time it's working as a dial-up modem on my laptop

hey all
i've got a problem with my droid pro in eu on gsm/umts network.
when i'm roaming and use gsm only (no umts) my mic and speaker are dead. i can make a call and receive it, but i cant hear anything and caller doesnt hear me. display shows seconds have past so line is opened. i can even receive sms and mms just fine and send them, only cals dont work.
if i change from gsm to umts only, then calls work fine. when im on home network everything is ok.
funny thing is, that if i make a call on roaming in umts only and then change to gsm only i can receive first call, then it's all blank again.
i have stock rom
tnx
teva
probably the problem was with the network where you was located. did you tried another network?
my droid pro works nice in roaming, in both gsm and umts.
I am facing a similar issue.
2G 900/1800 Mhz -- Voice & Data Work fine.
3G 1900 Mhz --- No Voice, Phone re-boots. Data works.
So I have to use the phone in GSM only mode.
I am on 2.3.3 / Verizon 4.6.4 update.
My new operator have same issue! (no with the old operator!!)
In a specific location i can't make/receive a call in only 2g (i can send/receive sms and data traffic is ok)... But if I switch in 3g i can do everything...
For my operator it is an issue between sim (by ORGA) and droid pro and so I'll replace my sim...
I didn't find non ORGA sim, but i have bought a dualsim adaptor, for seeing... Nothing...!
On my operator (TIM), when i'm on edge in only same locations, i can't make/recivie calls... Not with my ex operator (wind)..
But... you can try to compose on your dialer ##7764726 then call, then password 000000
verify
06 test mode
next
next
service option switch to 13k, or others, then back...
Make a call, or try this configuration
if you restart your phone you must reselect this...
Tomorrow i'll try...
