Hi,
1. I want to have a quickly accessible, information economic and easily syncronizeble folder in my Hermes.
Any suggestions?
So far I have solved it with:
• Accessible - good: Blue dot (function key?) + Folder button - this gives me fast access.
• Information economic – bad: “My documents”
Problems:
• “My documents” have a lot of (for me) crap system folders (e.g. “UA Contents”) that I don´t want there but is not removable.
• In my PC – it shows up as: “WM_Dan_Surname Mina document”
This is problematic as I want to lower the “character” depth since I have large amounts of subfolders and files and since it is a root folder it affects all subfolders.
2. Were is the best place to store it, on Hermes internal memory of on a card?
I thought I would save all my word documents on the Hermes memory so If it is stolen people won´t have access to it but even without pin- or password code it seems to be able so synchronise (?) and also I don´t want to slow it down (it takes 20 sec to start the big PW docs), if I do that by saving it there (?).

Anybody?
Does anybody know? It may seem like a luxuary problem but, with the amount I use it, it is important.

When I use Word Mobile on my Jasjar, it often happens that I am suddenly unable to save the file. This message appears:
Not enough memory to save the document. Please delete files or insert a storage card.
Tap Discard to close without saving or Cancel to return to the document.
Sometimes it helps to stop other running programs, sometimes not. The error message may also appear when I have recently taken a soft reset and only use Word Mobile. It may also happen with very small documents.
I use the wonderful PQz, which occupies a good deal of memory, but not that much...
Any advice??
no idea sorry, never had this problem. i have word set to save to SD card automatically so local memory shouldnt be relevant.
what is PQz?
This error happens often to me - I am surprised that not several other Universal users immediately respond that they have the same problem! And it happens while Settings -> System -> Memory tells me that 19 Mb is available for Storage and 27 Mb for programs.
I always save documents on the SD card.
PQz is the most wonderful program, which really increases the usability of the Universal enormously. And it is free. I use it to achieve fast multitasking and to get a Ctrl key. It may also be used for several other purposes. You may read about it by following this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=33343
and look at the website

This problem happens to me about 1/4 of the time. It doesn't matter if the file is large or has no text whatsoever. The only solution I have found is to copy the contents of my word file into a text file and save it using another application, thus losing all the formatting.
I've never used pqz.
Hi Folks,
is there a program that saves some confidential datas on my device? I need a program that saves the datas in a container and if this one is locked nobody can get eyes on the datas (for example pdf´s, jpg´s etc.)
Do you have any Ideas how to manage this or if there is a toll for this?

I've used Airscanner Encrypter in the past, did it's job very well.
http://www.airscanner.com/products/encrypter/
Description
Airscanner Mobile Encrypter is an advanced, attractive and easy to use encryption/decryption solution that both beginners and experts can enjoy. With its simple interface, you can create volumes that hold all your sensitive data, or use the interface to maintain granular control over the encryption/decryption at files or folder level. Using a fast and secure 168-bit 3DES protection, the Encrypter balances speed/process use/battery life for an efficient, yet usable encryption/decryption functionality. In addition to manual control, the Encryptor can be configured for auto-encryption after a specified time to ensure your data is encrypted if your device sits unused. Passwords can be set for each file, or you may choose to use one global password to lock/unlock single sign-on, transparently encrypted volumes.
Version 2 now includes a secure file wiper to shred or "bit wipe" the data stored on built in memory and external memory cards on your Pocket PC. You can select the number of passes to overwrite up to the DoD recommended 7 passes. We have successfully tested it with PDA forensic tools.
Download this innovative product and start protecting your mobile device - quickly and easily.
Features
* Granular encryption and decryption at the individual file/folder level.
* Transparent, single sign-on encryption.
* Automatic volume encryption after a user-defined number of minutes.
* 168-Bit DES encryption Support for encrypted volumes.
* Secure bit wiper/file shredder -- for built-in memory and external cards, too.
Resco Explorer does it for me......
While there are obvious differences between Maila and Sense, it seems increasingly that some well-known and long standing tweaks and registry hacks are ignored by the HD2.
I wondered if there was an application layer between the UI and the OS that might have its own settings that override the registry - seems unlikely but until someone can explain why these hacks are not working (or tell me I'm wrong), I thought it might be useful to keep a note of what DOESN'T work, along with any solutions as they are found.
---------------------------------------------------------
1. Can't move the Inbox to the Storage Card
Standard Hack: Add the string 'PropertyPath = \Storage Card\Inbox" to HKLM\System\Inbox\Settings
Issue: The hack actually works but on reboot the Storage Card is renamed 'Storage Card2' and a new folder called 'Storage Card' created on the device. This may be because the Storage Card is slow to mount
Solution:
None at present
---------------------------------------------------------
2. Can't disable the Lock Screen
Standard Hack: Should be possible to set the interval through the standard 'Lock' settings item or via a range of software Tweak Tools.
Should also be enabled/disabled by setting HKCU\ControlPanel\BackLight\AutoDeviceLockEnable to 1/0
Issue: The HD2 seems to override any and all settings and the lock screen appears any time the screen is switched off and back on again
Solution:
None at present
---------------------------------------------------------
3. Can't change the default storage location for camera photos
Standard Hack: Use Advanced Config or edit HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\image and/or HKLM\Services\Picture
Issue: The HD2 seems to override any and all settings and photos still go to the DCIM folder
Solution:
None at present
---------------------------------------------------------
4. Can't change the target for CoPilot in NaviPanel
Issue: When CoPilot is installed on the Storage Card - the only sane place for it - it cannot be started through the NaviPanel, which seems to expect a copy on the device.
There is no obvious registry setting to control this and the fear is that it may be hard coded somewhere
Solution:
None at present
---------------------------------------------------------
5. Limited Storage Space
Issue: A big-hearted device has come equipped with tiny cojones in the storage department...
Solution:
(Obviously!) Store as little on the device as possible and remove anything that you KNOW you can do without (careful!)
Install applications to the Storage Card (limited benefit as many apps still install working files to the device)
There is some sample music and sample pictures in 'My Documents' that can be removed to save several MB
Delete the CoPilot files under 'Program Files' (assuming you aren't using it, or have installed to the Storage Card)
---------------------------------------------------------
6. Screen Sensitivity
Issue: Despite having wished for a capacitive screen for months, it takes a little while to get used to the new-found sensitivity
Solution: Not a solution as such - haven't seen any sort of sensitivity control - but the following might help:
Patience! It does get better
Don't press too hard - it's easily done in frustration but it actually makes things worse
Align the screen - don't think the factory calibration is too clever (this made a big difference for me)
Switch to a different keyboard. Don't like the default keyboard so reinstalled TouchPal and all is well again

If people find it useful and care to post their issues/solutions here, I will try to update the list periodically
I was wondering if cut/copy commands are stored on WP8 in isolated storage or somewhere else similar to the uipasteboard in iOS? Any help would be appreciated.
There is no OS-level "Cut" command. Copy (and Paste) work only for text, but are supported by the OS and across apps, not in any per-app storage. The public APIs for clipboard access are extremely limited; apps can detect when there's clipboard content and can put their own text on the clipboard, but that's it. (Internal APIs for actually accessing clipboard data do of course exist, but app's aren't generally permitted to use them.)
Developers are of course welcome to implement an app-internal clipboard of any kind they want. For example, Pocket File Manager supports Cut/Copy/Paste for files (in the same manner as Windows Explorer on PCs) but that's purely app-internal.

Great! So basically I the WP8 doesn't have a storage place where sensitive data (i.e. Credit Card info) would be stored if someone decided to do a copy on a card number so they don't have to retype it in later in the app. Correct?
I see a lot of .DATA files in isolated storage. Do you know what these are and how to open them? Much appreciated again.
Well, as I said, there is an OS-level clipboard (shared between apps) that can handle text (but nothing else). CC#s are text, so they could be copied this way. The only way to make that impossible would be to prevent the user from selecting the text (a pointless goal in any case, as the user could just copy the number manually, or take a screenshot, or... you get the idea).
Isolated Storage is completely up to the app. The OS has nothing at all to do with it, besides providing a location in the file system for each app to use. Without even knowing what app you're talking about, I can't begin to tell you what the format of those files is.
Hi ppl
before i start... english is not my native language. please excuse some inaccuracies and language defects.
I have this phone for more than two years now. already it have last OTA system update offered by xiaomi: MIUI 11.0.2 estable (with Android 8 kernel ). very satisfied with the phone itself... but the internal storage accessing and copying of files to the PC always been problematic.
first have to manually select "transfer files" option ALWAYS even selecting this option as default in the developer options, this happens since day one. "well, ok". second: access a folder with many files ALWAYS have been a chore... laggy, unreliable, slow.... but the worst issue is the folder contents often does not update correctly when the folder contents change.
lets say i access a folder with... 8000 files inside, using the PC with windows with intention to copy them to the PC (e.g. telegram pictures folder)... it starts "counting"... 100...200...300...500 files (¿?) showing some of them in no particular order... at some time, it stops counting AND STILL CANT SEE ALL FILES IN THE FOLDER!!!... and after 3 or 4 minutes... ¿it timeouts?... with a windows explorer error. "solution": unplug the phone, replug, have to select again "file transfer" mode, re-access to the folder, and windows "remembers" the interrupted accounting and the showed contents and began to account from where stops previously... after 2, 3, or more "retries", it finally "accounts" all the files, then i select them and want to begin copying to the PC, "copy" (ctrl-c) them... and lags before starting doing ¿precaching? ¿or something else?... sometimes starts copying... sometimes not... sometimes timeouts after copying 500 or 1000 files... sometimes sooner, sometimes later... in one occasion i use a file admin tool in the phone itself, and delete... say 5000 files of the folder. next time i enter with windows in the same folder, and the 5000 deleted files STILL APPEAR INSIDE, obviously are "zombie / not real" files, but still appear and still not appear other files that really are inside the folder.... this issues makes me angry... but still there is more.
a couple weeks ago, i change folder configuration in a camera app (one bought at the store, not the standard one bundled with the phone)... and cannot access this new folder from the PC. it does not even appear as a folder. it appears as a "blank file" with a "blank paper" icon, not identified as a folder and system not allow me to enter... restart PC and phone does not change anything... "bueh, some folder issue with this app"... and forget it.
and now it started to do the same with MORE folders in the internal storage. including some folders that could be previously accessed... now to access these ¿unaccesible? folders, i have to enter with file admin app on the phone, move the folder to another location and now (after a unplug/replug cycle)... now maybe i can reach the folder on the new destination.
MTP always been... not very "powerful" in the performance side... but this issues are ridiculous. i can bear a not very fast (30-40MB/s) file transfer speeds, and some lag accessing a folder with an absurd file counting (say over 5000 files or so)... but the lags, timeouts, have to "recycle the connection", deleted or moved files not updated, inaccesible folders... its simply overkill. its highly patetic.
is the accessing to the internal storage from windows in this phones always so terrible f#cked? i dont remember issues that bad with other android phones (samsung, motorola...) is the internal storage dying? there is a way to solve this issues?
thanks for reading.
ok ppl.
After some more time dealing with this issues, i have come to a conclusion, and a (in a certain way) solution.
the conclusion -> MTP is a hell*sh piece of sh*t, it's crap, and it's the source of all this trouble.
the solution -> stop using MTP and use another way to deal with this matter.
that another way is by using WebDAV, to accomplish this, have to do 3 somewhat simple steps.
1.- NOT USE MTP when connect the phone to the PC via USB cable. leave on "charging mode".
2.- activate USB tethering, do so by activate it in the "more..." section of the communications settings
this activates a network link via the USB cable between the PC and the phone. this IP network can be located by the IPconfig / ifconfig command in the PC side, refer to an ethernet "RDNIS" section. the phone side IP usually assigned to 192.168.42.129 (it can depend on the network configuration PC side)
3.- enable a WebDAV server on the phone. there are various apps to do so available in the play store. I tested some of them and finally came using "webdav server" (free version) by The Olive Tree, but you can use whatever you like or suits you better.
by doing this, and enabling (in my case, windows 10) a network link to the server in the files explorer... bang! access to the files on the phone with far better reliability and much less issues than doing the old way.
I post it here in case it can be of use to someone in the future.
best regards to the community.
