My device name was WM_sorcerer before the hard reset.
Now after a hard reset I synchronized again and it became WM_sorcerer1
how can I change it back to WM_sorcerer ?

Start -> Settings -> System -> About -> Device ID

I deleted Items which are in:
Start Menu-> Settings-> Connections
and in:
Start Menu-> Settings-> Personal
but they go to Start Menu-> Settings-> System, even when I commented a line (in registry) related to Autoconfig (which is in Start Menu-> Settings-> System), it wasn't deleted (amazing). Maybe it is the default configuration and it is difficult or imposible to change, or maybe not.
The entries in registry to delete what I did, are in \HKLM\ControlPanel\
So, any ideas for deleting the items in Start Menu-> Settings-> System.

What did you try to delete?
Because most and if not all of those programs are built into ROM!
I found it's imposible to delete it.
I think that items in Start Menu-> Settings are imposible to delete because that links are created by one dll (maybe syscsps.dll) which is part of the ROM.

Yes I did.
A real pain in the b..
It will not upgrade existing version nor overwrite it.
Uninstall existing Pocket Plus by first, Start -> Settings -> Personal -> Today -> Items -> disable Pocket Plus
In Start -> Settings -> System -> SPB Pocket Plus turn all options OFF
Then in Start -> Settings -> System -> Remove Programs - Remove Pocket Plus and good luck. If it doen't work, don't let it delete itself from "Remove Programs" list - say no to that option.
I then used Start -> Programs -> File Explorer to remove \My Device\Program Files\PocketPlus directory
(Warning see note in next Paragraph)
Then removed \My Device\Windows\sbp* files - 6 of them.
On Soft Reset it complained about not finding spbservices so I loaded up SKTools and did a registry clean of dead Keys.. Maybe I should not have deleted those \windows\spb* files...
I then Soft Reset and I was able to do a clean install of SPB Pocket Plus 3.0.1.

Start the installation procedure up to the moment when asked where to install
Keep "Device" checked and SOFT RESET
On restart, PocketPlus will install
I realize how stupid that question looks, but I also can't believe I can't figure out how to do it. I've checked:
1) The CD.
2) The manual.
3) The device itself.
My 8525 is completely hosed and I need to do a factory reset.
How?
Select Start > Settings > System > Clear Storage. Type 1234 in the box and tap Yes. Note: This will erase all information on the device and restore it to factory setting.

I actually caved and called Cingular. They said to hold down the two soft keys while doing a stylus reset, which I did.
Does your tip do the same, exact thing?

i dont have this PPC, just found the info on the HTC site, under "Hard reset"
You can try both if you like but if the way you were told ove the phone works, use that seems simpler.

I used to to have my phone called "Chris' HTC", but I have had to do a hard reset now it change to "WM_Chris_1". I can't remember how I changed it.

Ans: Y wud you want to do that..

Ans: Find these 2 files pwr_off.wav and pwr_on.wav, in the windows directory, replace them with a another .wav file of your choice .. or create a silent wave file and replace them..

Ans: Open Registry Editor and Go To: HKCU > Software > Microsoft > Inbox > MsgTypes > IPM> SMSText
Change: DLL value to htmlnote.dll
Then: Soft reset.
Then again,
Go To: HKLM > Software > Microsoft > Inbox Settings
Change: MMSNoSentMsg name to SMSNoSentMsg
Change: SMSNoSentMsg value to 1
Then: Soft Reset
