Supercid ID? - P3600 General

I've just got my hands on a HTC3600/Trinity, but it currently has a Spanish version installed on it. I've read through the forums about re-flashing and downloaded a generic WWE version.
I've gone into the bootloader and typed info 2 as directed on another thread and it replies with: HTCS11111111Я©îHTCE
Does having the CID set to all 1's as above mean that it is already a supercid?
Thanks in Advance.

yes, that probably means it's already SuperCID... can u check the output of "task 32" command? Is this a preproduction device? Check also if there's any difference with SD card inserted and without it.

Cmd>task 32
Level = 0
I don't have a miniSD to hand so the slot is currently empty.
Not sure if its a preproduction device or not.. the only clue I might have is that the casing is completely unbranded, just a plain white shell.

I have got the same. this is supercid phone. Likely one of those that HTC sends to carriers for testing purposes.
>> unbranded casing.
ok. for sure DEMO unit sent to carriers by HTC.

Is there any other useful info I can give to anyone before I start trying to flash this?

Can you check your bootloader version?

At least, I think thats the bootloader??

my first post ever...apologies in advance
If the Trinity was not purchased through a provider and has no afilliation with any provider, is it already CID unlocked? Feel free to call me a moron. I tried looking around, but can't seem to get this through my head properly.

Can someone educate me about this CID deal? What is CID and what difference does it make if its locked or unlocked?
I bought my phone on ebay, poped in a SIM card, and it worked. That means its unlocked?

SIM lock: the phone will work only with a SIM from a certain operator. A phone that is not branded by an operator is never SIM-locked. So your phone is probably a standard HTC branded phone, it is not SIM-locked and you can use any SIM.
CID lock: the phone software can only be modified/upgraded with another version for the same CID. I think it stands for Country ID; this means that a phone with French Windows Mobile can only accept an upgrade of French Windows Mobile. It is probably required by Microsoft to license the software to OEMs to avoid piracy (I suppose). HTC uses the CID also to distinguish their various distribution channels, so a DOPOD branded device and an HTC branded device have different CIDs. A phone that is not locked to any country version or to any distribution channel has a SuperCID and will accept all WM software whatever the language, etc. Your phone is probably CID-locked.

No, a standard HTC phone is CID-locked. See my previous message for details.

Use MTTY (available via a link on the Trinity Wiki page) and follow the instructions on the wiki pages about going into bootloader.
Once you're connected and talking to the phone type, info 2. It will then respond with your CID.

Could someone send a file with extension unl, which was normally provided by imei-check to unlock your device.
It may bring a good idea to spl modification.

Duhh... wouldn't it be better to find out before trying to flash any ROM? Suppose you think the device is unlocked but actually it isn't, then you might end up with a bricked phone.

CoolGadget,
If I had the original T-mobile Rom then I would've just taken the risk but I don't and that's why I'm a little worried.
I'm still looking for it but it seems like it doesn't exist anywhere!
If anyone can help me out then I'd really appreciate it.
Regards.

T-Mobile ROM
The original T-Mobile ROM is available on T-Mobile website amongst many others. I really dont think there is another way to confirm you have CID-unlocked your set, unless you flash it.
Though the report of many who have used imei-check seems to suggest it gets CID-Unlocked

I allways thought it would be possible by running the mtty program. Wasn't the command Info 2 for getting the status? Correct me if I'm wrong.
I haven't tried it though, because my phone is certainly locked and I don't want to pay for getting it unlocked.
info 2 and info 4 do not work for the Artemis.
Guys thanks for your replys. I've managed to track down the original Tmobile ROM for the MDA 3 (thanks to some guys here). so now I'll be using imei check to unlock it, once done, I'll go ahead and install any ROM other than Tmobile and if it works then I'll know my device is CID unlocked. If it doesnt then I have the Tmobile ROM to fall back on.
Hopefully it will work otherwise I'll be getting in touch with imei check immediately!
Thanks for your help guys.

Nub question

Sorry if this is asked constantly, i tried searching and couldn't see any threads about it.
Basically what i'm wanting to know is if it's possible to unlock a phone that's still locked to a specific carrier (eg, optus or telstra if you're in australia). is this what CID unlocking is?
If so, then i guess i can grab a hermes / jasjam from ebay that's selling for less because it's carrier locked, unlock it, and use it with my current sim card?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
You're definately new with a question like that
Basically CID unlocking allows you to flash a ROM from any carrier and use it.
SIM unlocking allows you to use any SIM card with your existing (or any other) ROM.
If all you want to do is use a stock phone with any carrier I suggest you use POF's CID and SIM unlocker http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_SimUnlock.
If you want to get better ROMS you'll need to do a whole pile more reading, and before flashing anything else start with Olipro's Hard-SPL 2.10 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296722 and Mrvanx's Upgrade Guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299462.
Other useful upgrade info can be found in this sticky http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=295751

so all i'd need to do, assuming i keep the stock rom, is to sim unlock it?
Yep, if you SIM unlock you can use the phone as supplied but with any carriers SIM card.
Oh yes, welcome to XDA-developers - I think if you read a bit more you will realise the benefits of the cooked ROMs here and later want to upgrade - it's highly addictive

One further bit of advice if buying one of these phones from ebay - ask the seller for a picture of the phone when switched on so you can check it has a radio signal - also get him to confirm that it doesn't display NO GSM on the bottom right when it is booting. The NO GSM indicates a brick which may or may not be fixable by the tools we have here.

at the moment i've got an imate k-jam, and have been reading up about cooked roms etc, but didn't realise exactly what the unlocking involved (except that it let you play with the roms).

Are all Polaris CID-locked?

Seeing how Bepe's WM6.1 ROM requires HardSPL, does this mean all Polaris are CID locked?
Are there any issues when upgrading (like IPL/SPL problems on G3 vs G4 Wizards) that I should be aware of?
Thinking about getting a Polaris but just want to see what I'm getting myself into first. I personally have a G3 Wizard so I never really had to worry as much about bricking my phone.
If not all Polaris are CID locked, is there a way to tell if it is on the spot?
Also have some general questions on purchasing in the General Polaris forum here (600 for a LNIB Polaris Too good to be true?)
Polaris is not CID locked, basically.
If you buy a Polaris marked by a carrier (like O2 or Telecom) that should be CID locked, but where's the problem again? We have CID unlocker!

This is not true... Polaris is not SIM locked, basically.

A few of us fortunate ones were able to get a pre-release Polaris which were not CID locked, but this was very limited quantities shipped to distributors for initial evaluations. The way to tell on the spot, as per your original questin is to invoke bootloader and read the SPL. Mine came with a MFG SPL, not a fixed version. It is highly unlikely that any unit bought from general retail woul be such a device, but that is how you would check it.
Excuse me mates, but he is asking about CID locked, not SIM locked.
CID = Carrier ID that means that if the phone is CID locked it is linked to a Carrier (ie Vodafone, Orange, etc etc) and you can use only that carrier's SIM
I bought my Polaris from Mediamarkt (they have tons of) and is NOT linked to any carrier (i can put whatever SIM form whatever carrier in it) so is CID unlocked.
We r saying the same things mates. I call CID what u call SIM.

So basically, what's the difference between CID-Unlocker and Sim-Unlocker, because we have thoses 2 here?
Ther eis no difference, they r the same.
Really do we have a CID and a SIM unlocker?
I bet we have only 1
This is all utter bull****!
CID lock is completely different to a SIM lock. All devices coming from HTC are CID locked to prevent you from loading a non-genuine ROM onto the device. SIM lock has nothing to do with CID lock bud. My orbit 2 is CID but not SIM locked, it's not connected. But there are Polaris out there (no orbits/dopods but Touch Cruises) which are sold branded and SIM locked and of course, CID locked.
SIM is NOT the same as CID. It never was and will never be.

There are devices which dont feature a SIM lock, they work with all SIMs out there on all networks. But they all are CID locked. Those devices can be unlocked to eat custom ROMs using the HardSPL. The HardSPL skips the check the original loader does when you try to load a ROM onto the device.
But there are devices which are supposed to be locked to the carrier you bought it from. Very much like the American iPhone: it's (well, it should be ) tied to AT&T and doesnt eat custom SIM cards. For that case Olipro created the second unlocker available, is a combined solution. Its the HardSPL (letting you flash a custom ROM) with a SIM-unlocker (which will let you use any SIM) strapped on top. Since I have a CID locked only device, I didnt look into the unlocker that deeply, but I don't even know if it features the function to leave the SPL alone and only SIM-unlock your device... But, to be brutally honest, who around xda-dev is interested in that

HTC Hero Hungary/Vodafone Unlock

Hi!
I have htc hero with 1.5 firmware, 63.18.55.06EU_6.35.06.18 Baseband version, 2.6.27 kernel, 2.73.405.5 and 1.0.0.A6288 sotware version. My phone is locket by Hungary-Vodafone.
I bought unlock code 3 different website, but unlock code always be the same. Please help me, how to unlock my phone.
It may be that your firmware is like the Orange UK firmware, which would not allow unlocking (it seems to work, but your phone remains sim-locked).
You should probably try installing another ROM on your phone (e.g. MoDaCo) to see if that accepts your unlock code as this worked for Orange UK Heroes.
Look in the development forum for details of how to do this - you may need to use a goldcard.
Regards,
Dave
Thanks for the fast answer, i will test it.

Hi Dave!
I try 10 different roms (generic, modaco, t-mobile uk, ect) but my unlock code not work with the different roms. Please help.
In that case, it sounds like your unlock code must be incorrect, because this process has worked for other Orange Hero owners.

Dave

I bought 3 different sites
htccode.com
hero.unlock-now.com/
mobileunlocked.com/HTC/Hero
all codes are same!
It was definitely the case with Orange UK Heros that you could enter an unlock code, and it would appear to accept it, but the phone wouldn't not connect to the new network. It was then found that if you flashed your phone with a different ROM and tried the code again, the phone would unlock correctly. Once this was done you could even load the original ROM again without issue.
Just to check, you did follow the process below:
1. Flash a different ROM (e.g. MoDaCo)
2. Boot the phone with the non-Orange SIM - it should ask you to enter the unlock code.
3. Enter the code
4. Reboot
If flashing a new ROM hasn't worked for you, I guess you've got a new problem!
Sorry - I don't think I can help you further.
Regards,
Dave
