Hi ,
does anyone know of any radio graphing software which will allow me to at a glance see how many times my wizard is resetting the radio (02.47.11 currently)
does anyone have a similar problem with the radio? dropped calls, even when its not in use, you can see the signal bar at the top turn to a cross then searching for network then signal. all seemingly random since the device is not doing anything.
cheers
hullo? .
a fix
I dunno about graphing software, but the dropped calls issue can be fixed by setting the following registry key:
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\GPRSStallWorkaround = 0 (DWORD)

Hey y'all,
I have a Prophet, and I've searched the forums and haven't found a solution for the following two WM5 problems:
- After I lose reception for some reason (subway, interiors, etc), it takes FOREVER for the phone to get back its signal. Is there any program/reg tweak to make it faster?
- Also, is there a program that would allow me to dial a number from anywhere (tasks, notes, email)? This function exists on smartphones, but not on PPC phones.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

force manual operator selection..
choose your own operator.
Good Morning all
firstly a big thankyou to everyone who contributes here, I couldnt couldnt count the number of times Ive found little fixes for those annoying "features" that HTC devices seem to have.
Anyway, one such problem I seem to be having is battery drain due to my WLAN refusing to switch off. The function is switched off in connection manager but is very much switched on as every time I pass an access point I get an annoying bubble asking me if I would like to connect.
I tracked the problem down to something changing the "DisablePowerManagement" registry key. When I changed the value back to 0 the WLAN was switched off after a reset, however within 3-4 hours it changed again which leads me to believe it is caused by software I have installed at some point.
I wondered if anyone could advise on similar issues and resolution and also, is there a way to disable the popup bubble when a new Access Point is found as it causes me a nightmare with TomTom.

hey guys...this is my first post here...
my pda2k keeps on dropping signals and sometimes halt during a call...
at first.....as instructed..2 time restarting solved the problem..
can you guys plzz help me out.......im using wm6
thnx in advance
What version of Radio do you using ? Try to upgrade to the last version.
my BA info is as follows
ROM version 5.60.00 WWE
radio version 1.12.00
well from where can i get the latest version of radio??
wel..i found it..and i am upgrading radio...
less see what happens
.....upgraded to 1.15.00
....no success......
im not the first one to have this problem..it ws in 2003. 2005 and now in wm 2006 now....
dunno what to do.....dont wanna throw away my pda2k
Maybe it is an hardware problem?
If your problem is in WM2003, WM5 and WM6, just get the phone to a repair or a recycle center....
but the thing is ..it was working fine....
and after installing a resh rom...it works for like 2 days with no problem...
im sure that its not hardware issue....
its the same problem....which everyone esle is having in this forum..abt signal dropping...dun think tat this harware problem can come to lot ov ppl at the same time...
the problem is with the phone company...
my pda2k also gives me similar problems...
but when i'm travelling to some other countries and using a local sim card there... i do not see any such problem... even while roaming sometimes... i do not see any problem with the current sim card.
i think it is the home service provider which has the problem.
If you have signal dropping, replace the flex cable.
The flex cable signal dropping is a common problem to any slide phone.
In fact I slide the phone halfway to test the signal if it will drop or not.
No signal drop means good flex cable.
Same case with Nokias and other phones.
I've had my friend's BA flex cable replaced and signal drop is solved.
also, one old battery can do that issue.
with my older battery, it used to cut connections sometimes. with the new one, keep connection.
hmm...but the thing is...that this fone was working fine in my country i.e Pakistan..but its giving problem here in canada.......and it actually came from canada before....
i dont know what to do....there were also issues like that with my imate-Pocket pc before...and now same is with PDA2k...
i have chaged a lot of sims...but no success.......
I personally believe that there is a bug on the radio dll.
If you are using WM2003, try this workaround to see if it helps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=340557
In your case, activate only the 1.900Mhz band or the 850 / 1900 band only. I believe that the former is better, though.
I've been only using it for the last 2 days, but so far so good.

Well same problem here in Bulgaria. We have 3 Telecoms. Unfortunately i have subscription to one of them and some times like every couple of months I have the same problem. Green light blinking, but when someone is calling me - out of service. It rings, but after i pick up - it drops the call and gives "No service" This last for about a day or so. When i switch sim cards to another service provider - it works fine. The same thing happens when I travel from one town to another. I thing this is due to poor software configuration in the GSM towers. Overall for three years this happens to me like 10-15 times for couple of hours to one day. And I have this problem only with one provider only. No work around as far as i know.. Sorry
signal problem partially solved.

Guys,
Definitely the problem is software. I'm from Brazil and my operator is TIM. I tried many ROMs (at least 10) with the same symptom: if the phone misses the signal, I get into troubles to find the signal again and it keeps finding another operator instead TIM (in my case it only finds Vivo - which is 850Mhz).
After those many trials, I found a ROM that solves the problem partially. It's the PV DVH 19701 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=390008&highlight=19701 )
With this ROM, it still looses the signal when on a place where the signal is not present and don't find while returning to a place which the signal is present, BUT, I just tap the antenna on the top of the screen, tap settings > network and finally tap "find network" and VOILA, the signal is back without much pain!!
One more thing is a little change on the registry according to a recommendation from Microsoft. Using one registry editor, go to:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Phone and change the value for "Features" parameter from 204c7d8 to 206c7d8. Remember that before you change, you need to choose the view mode to hexadecimal.
That's it folks...have fun!
Hi guys, I'm hoping one of you knowledgeable people might be able to help please, I've done a bit of seraching/googling but not really got anywhere...
I've noticed over the last few days that my TD2 keeps losing reception in places where I normally have a very good signal - e.g. the handset will be sat on my desk at work for a while, and when I pick it up to use it to make a call, send a text etc I notice that the network icon on the taskbar at the top is showing an exclamation mark to indicate there is no signal. I have to power off the handset and turn it back on to clear this problem (I've tried going to the comm manager and disabling/enabling 'phone' but when I disable it I cannot re-enable it afterwards).
I was wondering if this is a problem with my handset or the network (T-Mobile UK)?
Anyone got any ideas please?
Device information in case it's needed:
ROM Version: 1.39.405.2 (47382) WWE
ROM Date: 04/07/09
Radio Version: 3.43.25.19
Protocol Version: 61.20t.25.10U
I had the same problem in areas where the 3G signal is weak. I disabled 3G and everything is OK. I also noticed a dramatic increase in battery life.

I get this every 2-3 weeks (known strong signal area, no reception at all indicated), it could a bug in the Radio ROM, perhaps? Updating the Radio ROM might help. But this...

..doesn't sound right. I do this and it clears the problem without restarting the phone.
@ kskar - Sometimes I'm in a good 3G area when this happens (Manchester city centre, UK) and sometimes I'm not (at home), so I don't think this would be causing it.
@ Pete_S - I was wondering if it could be anything to do with the Radio ROM... I also tried turning airplane mode on/off in comm manager, but it usually won't come out of airplane mode either without powering off & back on.
You could also try constraining the phone to operate only in the UK bands (phone settings - Band - GSM(900+1800) + UMTS(900+2100)) and, if you only use 3G, set network type to "WCDMA".
I am only writing here after I tried everything I could possibly imagine with no result. Sorry the long text.
I'd like to hear ideas from you. Anyone with a similar problem.
I have a Blackstone, and never had even the smallest problem with GSM signal. But now I face the following:
- If I set the Band to "Auto", my phone connects to the HSPDA network with no problem, and I use internet and make calls normally.
- If I set the band to "GSM", sometimes it connect, sometimes not. When I manage to connect, if I try to use the internet, sometimes I lose the signal. When I am making a call, it frequently hangs up. The problem is random, sometimes I can use GSM with internet and calls for a long time, but suddenly it crashes again!
The solution would be always connect to HSPDA, but the problem is that on "Auto" the phone sometimes goes to GSM alone, and the signal breaks down.
I cannot be sure exactly when this problem began. But it was after I installed PDAVIET's Rom (WM 6.5 21053 and manila 2.5), and radio 1.17.25.09.
Among everything I have done:
- Flashed dozens of Roms always hard-reseting twice after. Tried stock Roms, cooked Roms with WM 6.1 / 6.5, manila 1.3 / 2.1 / 2.5.
- Flashed radios 1.13 / 1.14 and 1.17 in combination with all Roms. Tried with and without ripphone.dll's
- To eliminate a operator problem, I used my chip on a nokia for a few days, and didn'd have a single problem with signal, calls, internet. I installed a chip from another operator and faced the same problem.
Nothing I have done made any result.
Even using my stock Rom didn't solved. I used this phone for 8 months with no problem. So I came to the conclusion this is hardware related, with the antenna or something.
Thanks
All right, have been through a few more Roms and Radios and the problem remains unchanged...
Really looks like an antenna related problem. Apparently I will never connect to GSM again unless I take my device to service (have no guarantee), and be lucky!
But anyway, I found a solution to the connection instability and phone calls interruptions. Solved my life for now. It is very complicated:
*********************
HKLM\Software\OEM\UMTS
OpMode=2
*********************
This forces the phone to always stay in the 3G band. The "Auto" mode you can set in Comm Manager lets the phone change to GSM when the signal is low or whenever he wants, and my connection breaks down.
BTW, other modes are:
OpMode=0 (Auto mode)
OpMode=1 (GSM only mode)
OpMode=2 (3G only mode)
I know this may not be useful for anyone, but I just felt like sharing...
