After searching through the messages for about an hour, I can't find a good answer to what would seem to be a pretty simple question: Activesync 4.1 and better are supposed to move contact photos from Outlook 2003 over to WM5 contacts. This worked flawlessly on my Treo 700w but seems to have stopped working with the 8525.
I can manually add photos using the contact editor on the phone, but this is way too tedious! I'm hoping I'm just missing an option setting somewhere or something....
Thanks in advance,
So I guess this is not possible with the 8525 then?
works for me on a dopod 838 pro.. dont know if there is any settings to adjust
Works for me too on my SPV 3100 running the HTC 1.35 ROM using Activesync 4.1.

does the universal have a sim manager?
if yes were you ppl able to copy your contacts from your sim to the universal?
and does the activesync 3.8 work on the universal?
cus i was not able to sync my contacts in v4 with my xda2 with wm2003 se.
thanks in advance
your audience would inc extremely if you asked this question in the universal forum because you cant really be sure that universal owners read too many posts in the himalaya forum
Just moved the thread......
Stefan
and yes, the SIM Manager is located in the Contacts application (on the MDA Pro)
re.
thanks a lot stefan.
come on guy's.
come on guy's only 4 reply's
i think more of you guy's will be using universal so please help me and reply.
thank's.
Yes it does. JasJar
yes there is a SIM manager.
activesync 3.8 does not work with Universal ... only from 4.0.
I have JASJAR in Australia.
Yes it has a SIM Manager, no I dont use it and find it rather pathetic and useless in light of the capabilities of using Contacts.
Yes you can copy to your Contacts.
Dont know about activesync 3.8, but suspect not, I dont use backward compatible stuff, there are to many extra features in 4.0.
Suggest you couldnt sync your contacts due to your configuration, setup, or hack that you put a v4 onto a 2003SE and the overall incompatibility.
V4 so far as I know is only actually shipped with 2005, and it works fine, even if a tad slow, but great feature to sync the music and MP3's, pictures, videos and all other multimedia information from PC to PPC.
 :? 8) :x     :!: :?:

Yep, Sim Manager here too, but again, I don't use it, Outlook 2003 and ActiveSync 4 is far better.
Not sure about ActiveSync 3.8, but I can say that 3.7 definitely doesn't work, so I'd be extremely surprised if 3.8 did...
it was confirmed that 3.8 dident work with himalaya with 2005 so i dont see why it should work with other 2005 devices

I'm not sure this will fix your problem, but it has worked for me on my jasjar and my wifes MDA Pro, but it is crude and tiresome. I have the same problem on my newly formatted PC but my wife syncs her MDA Pro with her laptop no problem. However Active sync always runs in the background on our Universals.
1: Uninstall Activesync on your PC and delete the Active sync folder in your programs folder, then re-boot PC.
2: Meanwhile on your MDA Pro, start up Activesync and go to menu/options and delete the relationship, so there is effectively nothing to sync with on the Pro. This should stop it from popping up all the time, but has the obvious drawback that you cannot keep synchronising your data, contacts and appointments etc.
3: Re-install Activesync on PC and connect your MDA to establish new partnership. You will now be able to sync and install software, but after this sync (if you have the same problem as me, you won't be able to again unless you repeat steps 1-3).
I know this is not a good solution, especially if you have to synchronise vital data with PC and Pro, but this is sufficient for now, for the purpose of installing new applications that have no .cab files that you can copy to SD card.
Hope this helps a little.
Thanks for your hint. it is exactly as you said!
after deleteing the profiles i can sync ALL information on my device.
at the next time i cant sync because no connection is possible ;-(
the question i have is:
is my device damaged or is the active sync software the problem?
how did you solve the problem at last ?
Hi Folks,
i have now another device with WM2005 (Wizard) and nearly the same problems with active Sync!
as nobody wrote to my thread i hope that everybody of you can sync his WM2005 device!?
Whats about access databases?
i use german version of active sync 4.0.0 Build 4343. is there any newer versions that work better than mine?
Use MDA Pro with Active Sync 4.1
I had the same problem with AS 4.0. With AS 4.1 I could finally sync the MDA Pro.

Not to discourage anyone, but I'm running AS 4.1 and I still have the exact same symptoms. I've already de-installed everything (including old drivers and purging old ActiveSync registry settings, removing old directories, etc) and re-installed, but synchronization is more of a hit-and-(mostly)-miss affair.
Thank god for Exchange ActiveSync and unlimited GPRS plans...

MDA pro problems with Active sync
Guys,
I can't get to connect my mda pro with active sync 4.0/4.1 and 3.8.
I have re-installed but that did not help.
It just cannot find the device.
Would appreciate any help in this matter.

8503001c Error
I have an O2 XDAII (with WM 2005) and I get this error message when I try using Activesync4.1 as well. The Activesync I am using is downloaded from MSFT. I have tried all the other suggestions in this forum but there are not fixes that can be had by following those suggestions. The one thing I can say is that it has to do with email in my situation. If I sync everything except for Email, then my activesync works... PLEASE HELP!
Geez! Freakin' Microsoft, seriously! I hope they read this forum.
I keep losing the ability to sync at some point. I don't know what's causing that. I now think that it happens when the phone locks up and you have to use the hardware reset button instead of a software button on your screen.
Considering how many people have this problem, you'd think M$ would do something about it.
The error code is 8503001c
I forgot to mention one important point. The error code is 8503001c. Buzz, help us! Isn't there some way to do a search through the binearies to find the explanation or reason for this error code ? That would probably give us a specific reasonj as to what the issue is, tand then we could rectify it -
Hi all.
I have a uk tmobile mda compact iii which I have just upgraded to wm6 using their official site here : http://www.tm-phonedownloads.com/sd_compact3.html
Everything works fine and I backed up etc before upgrading, however, my activesync session is not syncing any of my calendar appointments from Outlook.
I am tearing my hair out! Has anyone had any similar problems?
try deactivating "advanced USB mode" in START-CONFIG-CONNECTIONS

u need to establish new connection the best thing is to delete all ppc in ur active sync and re connect or
uninstall active sync and re install it as an easier solution
Hello,
I just got my Universal (as M5000) from eBay, it's running WM6 already. I'd like to know if there is any way how to easily migrate all my details, settings, contacts, appointments and you-know-all-the-other-stuff from my old iPAQ5550 running WM2003. Thanks.
Exellent choice!!

Hi ren
Wellcome to Uni´s forums, I would recommend you to pas all the info you want to move to your new Uni to your PC or Lap, and form there using Windows Mobile Device Center or ActiveSync 4.5 you can syn your computer to your new toy!
Hope this works for you
Cheers
Thanks orb,
sounds good but unfortunately I am not able to sync my devices, using WMDC6.1, it just says Outlook not installed and allows me to sync only files and favorites. What Outlook? On PPC or on PC? Email is only thing I don't want to sync..:-/
Any available?
I bought Jeyo a long time back but it does not seem to work with my Topaz - only detects the last 3 msgs and as soon as you want Sent Items downloaded...Outlook crashes.
Jeyo are not sure if they are still in business it seems so you just get fobbed off by them.
Then there's PocketExport. Installed the trial version, detects device but no SMS logs etc.
Thanks!
OK so the Jeyo Companion DOES see the msgs...it's just outlook that does not.
I'm going to put it down to potentially 64bit, Office 2007 SP2, Windows 7, Touch Diamond 2 or all 4
Previous successful attempt was with a HTC Diamond 1, Office 2007 SP1, 32bit, and Windows Vista
Hello!
I use this, is verry good Mobile Archiving - sms and call detail archiving.
MobileArchiver integrates the most widely-used communication methods - SMS messaging, email, and calls - into Outlook, one of the most widely used applications. MobileArchiver keeps a history of your SMS messages and call details in Outlook so you always know who contacted you and when.
Downloading now!
Thanks for that - I actually got the PocketExport working with help from their support guys - it turns out that even though I am connected via cable, you need to set PE to Bluetooth and reboot the machine.
It synced up fine soon after the reboot though it then crashed Outlook until I removed the hone.
The other downside is the "From" field is blank unlike Jeyo which had it populated
From the screenshots of your suggestion, it looks to be populated. Wish me luck!
I use True connect from rasberry software, paid for it about 4 years ago and never looked back. I use it every day, however sometimes it does crash outlook 2007, but I just restart the program and it comes back. Also allows you to control your phone using pc keyboard & mouse.
Now that WinMo 6.5 is out i am having issues with TrueConnect. SMS msg remains in outbox folder, and according to support it has something to do with threaded sms
Any of u bright minds have a solution ?
/Smirge
I've now gone over to the dark side and got myself an iPhone
Just got fedup of the inherent issues with the diamond2 - most of which I managed to live with but the aftersales just did it for me!
However, I was running 6.5 until the bitter end and bought [email protected]'s suggstion of MobileArchiving
It was by far one of the best solutions I have seen for SMS and Outlook - something I forgot to say thanks to for the suggestion so apologies for that!
Might be worth trying it out (i think they give you a 15-30 day trial on their site)
Had no issues with 6.5 and that was during the beta stage!
Thanks Akash_84.
I've got an Iphone... wonderfull!!
Do you know a way to export sms from a Diamond to an Iphone??
Thanks in advanced!
