Full format including registry - P3600 General

I'll buy a P3600 next month. I have a lot of software to install on it. But after I'll try all the software and select only what I like, how can I format the device? I want a full format including registry. Is there a software like Drive Image or Noton Ghost for Trinity to back it up? Please enlight me! Thanks

you have to make an Hard Reset.
Go to
START---SETTING---SYSTEM
and select Erase Arcihive or Full Reset ( i have italian P3600 with CANCELLAZIONE ARCHIVI)
This operation restore the Factory Settings.
You can install SPB Backup to make a backup of your system after the re-installation of your program

Lost data, tried do restore from backup =>not working!!

Hi, I am new in this forum, sorry in advance for my english.
Today the battery from my QTEK 2020 went empty and the backup battery also. The device restarted itself and all the data were lost.
I am regurarly backing up all the data each time I connect to the USB cradle, so I thought.. Hmm no problem, I will restore it from the backup file. Then came the problem...
The device ID from the activesync and from the Qtek doesnt match anymore, so I cant restore the backup file.
How/where can I find this data in activesync so that it thinks that this is the same device like before?
P.S. I am only sure that the device name was "Pocket_PC" on QTEK, but the description I dont remember.
Hi Pipi,
Please see whether the below steps can help:
1) Open Activesync (do not put your PPC into the cradle). Select 'File' > 'Delete Partnership' > 'Yes' (repeat until all the partnerships are deleted)
2) Hardset your PPC (hold power button and soft-reset at the same time)
3) After hard reset, put your PPC in the cradle and let it form a new partnership with Activesync (your should get the default PPC name as Pocket_PC)
4) In Activesync, select 'Tools' > 'Backup/Restore'. Select the backup file you want to restore. Go to the Restore tab, press restore and everything will come back.
Remarks: Please make sure the Regional setting of the PPC after hard reset is the same when you do the backup.
Hope it can help ......
THX I will try, but after i have searched the forum for solutions, i found out that, if you do progressive backup, it is impossible to restore the data, except the full backup.
Is it true?
Yes, you need to use a full backup image to restore as incremental backup does not contain the full image of the PPC and cannot be restored.
i restore inc backup's all the time on my device
if it could not be restored why have the inc backup option at all ?
There are three types of backups -
Full backup - backs up everything
Incremental - backs up everything changed since the last full or incremental
Differential - backs up everything changed since the last full.
So - when you restore with incremental you must restore the last full backup and then all of the incrementals since that last full (in order).
When you restore with a differential you need to restore the last full and then the last differental . . . at most 2 restores.
Incremental backups take up less space and time but require more time to restore the system, whereas differentials take more space and time to backup, but take less time to restore the system.

Different device type
After installing NYDITOT virtual display, my Himalaya crashed bigtime!
Only a hard reset would work.
The problem is, that when I try to restore the backup I get this error saying that the backup was made on a different device type..
Thus rendering me helpless!
I've allready lost 300+ e-mails this way, so I don't trust the backup function any more.
I use newest version of Activesync...
This has happened twice in two days now..
I don't use NYDITOT any more..
hi bonzo,
it's not a big problem: just set the device name AND the regional setting (probably Norwegian for you) to what it was at the time of your backup.
ym
Aha!
So THAT'S why I didn't make it work..
Those darned regional settings!
Thanks a million!
I had the device name down, but didn't know about the regional settings..
yeah it's in the help in activesync
i had that problem once but activesync's help
gave the solution
one of the first time ever windows help help'd me
It was in the help file?
I swear, I read that file five times...
Desperate for a solution...
Oh well.. At least I've got it now..

Full formatting the Jam....

Hi,
I made an hard reset on my Jam but I think that some configurations are still present after that.
Is there a way to make a full reset in order to restore the original settings and cleanup ALL the user's info/configurations?
What kind of settings do you mean? A hard-reset should clean-up everything. Don't forget that after the hard-reset all ext-rom apps & settings are loaded. To skip this, you need to soft-reset just after the initialization end. this is when the default windowsbackground shows & before the pop-up with 'customization' shows.

after full formatting of ppc,the storage looks like clean and empy, but 3 mb is not free.Have anybody the same problem?
You may have flashed or been flashed with a custom rom/extended rom.
If that was the case, you are hard resetting, but to the custom storage that is built into the ROM. You might want to flash with a standard operator ROM.

the rom is 1.12,and I download it from this site...

What to backup ...

... before an hard reset ?
Well, my Qtek S200 with tonz of apps installed (mostly on the 4GB SD card) became quite slow. Mostly at boot, worst than before.
I periodically back it up by Sprite Backup, but now I would perform an hard reset to clean up and start again from skratch. And reinstall appz with some criteria
So, I'm here to ask a checklist for things to backup and how.
For example,
- export registry keys for the personal identification (how to export?)
- startup apps
- ...
Thanks for any hint
Anybody ?
P.S.: where could I find a ROM upgrade for the Italian QTEK S200 ?
As I'm planning to hard reset...
Thanks
...backup verything. I use SQB Backup for backup (ppc files only and not SDcard): pim contacts, emails, system and my document. These you can restore customized.
I backup everytime after i installed some goods.
With PHM register editor i create also backups, only register though...
...sd card backups i won't create because i save the cabs on the pc...
Thanks for your answer.
I always backup everything with Sprite Backup 5.1 (WM5), but when it restores data, everything come back to my actual status.
How could I save ONLY the user profile (inside the registry, I guess) and the most important configs ?
I'll restore (reinstall) the app programs later
P.S.: all programs are installed on my SD card. I noticed most of them, even moved across directories, keep working. This case, should I re-install them, or could I use them as is, simply linking the executable in the storage card directory ?
Thanks again
...i'm sorry to say but you had to create a good working backup earlier. A register is filled with thousends of keys and you can't find a sort of userprofile.
If you've got an up-to-date backup then you can start from zero: you've got already everything by hand.
Perfom hard reset and create backup with minimun install like pim contacts, emails and internet settings. Then install next thing etc. If you need something immediately you can restore backup from before hard reset.
Every program with is installed on SD card won't be executeted before you accept it (that means that shareware could be used unendlessly instead of b.e. 5 times) but you don't have to install them again. So after reset they are immeditate accessable. Best to have made a copy of startpage\programs so you can copy them after hardreset back so you don't have to seek through all the folders on SDcard.
Only all the programs installed on the ppc you've got to install after hard reset again
You can also schedule backups, i.e. daily, which create a backup with only the changes compare to last one. I've got fullbackups of ±12Mb and incrementel of ±8Mb.
So I perform always fullbackups which i delete weekly...

How do I re-ROM without loosing settings?

O2 support have suggested I hardreset my Xda Atom Exec, but I have som much stuff installed, navigator, games, settings etc, it'll take me days to get it right again. Is it somhow possible to clone/copy all settings so my phone will be exectly the same after the hard reset?
You can use backup sofware to backup your phone to your SD card and restore it over. However, that would defeat the purpose of the hardreset in some cases. Why are you planning to hardreset?
one more thing - in backup preference choose save only programs. not system.
I need to do the hard reset and test if the phone has feedback problems without any 3rd party software installed, and report this to O2
can u tell me any backup programs for this purpose

You can use Spb Backup
Maybe , some software you setuped in your devices can't backup , because of some registion infomations..
you can backup your documents , reset your software from CAB files.
