P3600 WPA-PSK Problems - P3600 General

I'm having problems connecting my P3600 to a Netgear DG834GT ADSL Wireless Router with WPA-PSK security. If I turn the security off, the phone has no problems accessing the router. However, when enabled it is unable to authenticate.
It is running the latest 1.15 Rom and I have successfully connected my Imate JAMin to the same router.
Any suggestions?

mine is running fine on same router

Same devices here and no problems at all.
DGB834GT usually is the cause..it has been reported on suppressed Netgear forum

I've had the same problem with my DI-624. I can only connect if I disable all Super-G options AND use WEP instead of WPA.

Which forum did you see this on?

i have the same problem. i can't connect my p3600 to the network if i try to use wpa, wpa-psk, wpa2-psk encryption. if i use wep or no authentication i can connect to my router(asus wl500g deluxe with ddwrt firmware v23 sp2) without problems.

My p3600 works after I flashed the Dopod GPS enabled rom onto it.
Maybe give that a try if you are still running the HTC 1.15 ROM.
Spadge

I used to have the same problem before upgrading with LVSW!! Now it works great.

I had the same problem, but after I updated my router to the latest firmware software it connected on WPA-PSK no probs.

WPA-PSK with TKIP and Belkin Pre-N Router

I have been trying to connect to my Tmobile MDA to a Pre-N router. The router is set up to do WPA-PSK with TKIP. I can get the Wizard to connect to it and I see a very strong signal strength.
However, when I try to browse using IE, I keep getting an error that I cannot get to the web page. As soon as I disable WPA and connect, I can browse. I do have the registry hacks to go to G mode. Can somebody please help me debug this problem?
Thanks,
MT
I had the same problem, and was only able to fix it by updating the Belkin Firmware to V1.1.03.
Alternatively you can reflash the Belkin Firmware with Linksys Firmware (they both use the same hardware) which makes it much more stable (and allows the Prodigy to connect. (Google Belkin Linksys Firmware to find out more about this)
It gets worse, I just upgraded my Wizard to the new AKU2 ROM and now I can't connect to my Belkin Pre-N with either WEP or WPA...
Downgraded to the old ROM and WEP is working again!

Wizard not working with Belkin pre-n router
I use WEP encryption. Could not get my Wizard to connect to the Belkin pre-n router. It was working with Netgear G router. Turned out if I turn off QoS on the Belkin pre-n router, everything works. Hope this works for y'all.

WPA-PSK with Linksys. Don't work?

Hi!
I have a linksys WRT54G3G wireless router and has set it for WPA encryption on the wireless network. But my HTC TyTN (Hermes) wont connect to it.
If I just say yes on the connection dialog, choose internet and the punch in the WPA key the device hangs and I have to soft reset.
If I create a wireless setting for my network on before hand and then turn radio on my device only says connecting. But never connects to my network.
WEP works fine on the device. And my laptop connects without any problem to both the WEP and WPA encrypted networks.
Does anyone have an idea what's wrong and how I can fix it?
Best regards,
\\ aste

It's working for me...
HTC TyTN with Linksys WAP-54G.
I use WPA-PSK with TKIP. All is working.
I've just selected such a parameters in setup window in my TyTN, set the key and all started to work perfect.
Hi mikechannon!
Thanks for the threads! I haven't seen them, but unfortunealy they don't help much. I have MAC filters turned on. But I don't have the same router. May be that's the problem. I'll try contacting linksys support next week. My device works fine with WEP encryption. But I'd like to secure my network a little bit more...

hi,
I have had the same problem with my WRT54GS, and solved by choosing WEP security, but now after seeing this thread and following links I installed recent firmware from Linksys and... pronto! WPA / TKIP works smoothly. Thanks, folx.

WPA-PSK / AES encryption

Ok I have Helmi's WM6 ROM and I am desperately trying to find a way to get the wireless functionality to connect to a router at work which *must* negotiate via WPA-PSK / AES.
Is there *any* way I can get my device to negotiate via AES, I can only see TKIP.
Thanks in advance
John
I have tried searching the forums for "AES" but no posts were returned, which is odd. I have also tried searching for encryption but there doesnt seem to be any relevant posts.
because i think that the device does not support it
Thanks xplode, I feared as much. One would hope that it would be possible in software, and that the wireless network layer would be upgradable via software.
Which router do you have? Most of them can be set up to allow either AES or TKIP or a combination of both...
PoGa
Poga,
I can connect to my router at home without any issues whatsoever, however it is the router at work that I can not connect to. I have no control over the authentication methods of the router, and the sysadmin will not change the protocols to suite my wireless tastes.
Ho hum
I've recently upgraded my BA to WM6, and without making any changes to my wifi router (Netgear DG834G v3), it now will NOT connect! I was and still am using WPA/TKIP security.
Previously on the original vanilla Orange SPV M2000 WM2003SE o/s it connected fine.
Interestingly, if I disable all wireless security on my router, the BA connects up just fine.
Downgrading back to WM2003SE does not restore WPA/TKIP connectivity to my router.
I've tried a couple of Helmi's WM6 roms and am currently running DVH's WM6 5.60.01 build 18548 with the same frustrating results.
All my WM6 upgrades on my HTC Tytn (SPV M3100) don't have any issues with wifi connectivity. Odd...
I'm pretty sure it's not the router as I've tried it with a 2Wire ADSL access point too and it's the same.
Any ideas guys?
Same thing is happening to me... No WPA connectivity.
No security in router and all OK
WPA on BA
Actually the devise supports it! But there are no drivers!
As I had WM5, WPA-PSK worked fine, but in WM6 it is not implemented...
Just a question, would it be possible to import and use WM5 drivers and what esle necessary, from WM5 to WM6?
In WM5 It worked OK thats right!!
Is the drivers the answer to the problem?
the drivers we use in any WM6 rom are from WM5 so it is understandable to not work quite well
here WPA-PSK with TKIP encryption is working just fine - my router is Linksys WRT54GC
AES encryption is not supported by the BA WLAN Driver
The hardware of the BA dor Wifi ins't the same as any other PDA device?
Can we copy the drivers from another device to our beloved BA?
i don't think so, if it was that easy my roms would not have wlan issues at all
nice one xplode!! dum coment

WLan and WPA

Searched and searched, Has anyone had an issue with using the wlan SD8686 with WPA?
I can connect with no security and with WEP and I am able to browse the web.
I can still connect to the router using any of the WPA but can not get any pages to load in IE only works with wep or no security. 3 other laptops work fine.
Any idea? HTC Tech support no help.

I can't answer.. but that reminds me the WPA issue that I have with the HTC Touch ..... my Touch is unable to use any WPA ... when connected the touch just freeze .. and I have to soft-reset and hope to the Wireless not connecting before being connected before disabling the Wireless.
it seems that WPA or the wireless chip is really bad ... but don't know which one !
Shift works fine with WPA I am currently using TKIP+AES
I have had nothing but issues with my Shift and Belking N Router using WEP...
Sometimes it would connect, the majority of the time the shift couldn't see the network and it did connect it would lose connection. I tried it with WEP and also with no security and also with MAC address authentication only. Every 50 times I tried to connect, it would connect maybe once.
So, decided to use my old standard 54g Belking router. Guess what, no issue so far with no security applied. Was planning to try it with WEP later....

I live in US and unit was from UK think this could be a problem with WPA?
I have no problem with NO security and NO problem with WEP only with any type of WPA. Also searching the net, seems like the wirerless chip in the SHIFT not a very good track record, lots of driver issues

Can you tell me what the Driver VER No is on your shift tfor the network card?
My unit has the Marvell SD-8686
Wifi
I had problems, sometimes the shift could not find my network, sometimes it woeked.
after setting my dlink dir655 router in b/g moder rather than b/g/draft n mode all has worked so far.
ok guys i use linksys running open source dd-wrt v23 sp2 firmware; works great; i must admit i have not used the shift on other wifi network routers....
No connection
Hi,
maybe someone can help. Since yesterday I belong tot he proud owners. But, but, I can’t get a connection to the internet over my WLAN router.
Router Netgear WPNT834. Whatever I did no luck: either I get the message: limited connectivity or only local Zugriff connection something like that.
No problem with XP notebooks, but with Shift and Vista.
Has anyone an idea what causes the problem? Is it the router?
Do you know any router you can recommend: strong signal and reliability?
Thanks
Settembrini
No issue with WPA here
Hi Settembrini,
So you got your Shift from Amazon.de at the same time as they delivered mine after all
Regarding the WiFi connection to the router, it seems to be some routers / chipsets.
I am also using WPA (with a Siemens SX550i router) and it worked without any problems. The Shift detected an encrypted network with hidden SSID and after I entered the SSID and the encryption password it connected immediately and with a stable connection.
WLAN access
Hi mw65719
yes, more or less same time.
So what is the conclusion? It is my Netgear router WPNT834, why I do not get a connection? Need for a new router it seems!
Thanks!
S.
Yes same here, I just bought the new Belkin N1 Vision router and all other equipment works but the Shift can't even see the the router. I just hooked a netgear router in series with the belkin and the Shift can now see the Netgear..... Was worried for a bit there.... Really annoyed about the shift not being able to see the belkin, the Belkin wasn't cheap.
Hi,
I was not able to establish a connection to my Netgear router WPNT834, then I tried the Speedport 700 V and it worked without any problems, no special settings in Vista neccessary.
I guess you have a different Netgear router than mine.

Problem connecting to Cisco router

I have several imate Jamin, and i've used them without much trouble for the last coupe of years. We used a Linksys router to connect via wifi and it worked well, but know we bought a Cisco 851w router and the Jamin don't connect to it. They receive the SSID, but if we try to connect to the router, it just doesn't happen.
The Jamin are flashed with an official i-mate WM5 ROM.
Does anyone has any idea what the problem maybe? I've read that the CCX Cisco extension has caused some problems with others HTC devices, but i don't knonw if this router uses CCX and if it does how to disable it.
Any help is welcomed.

What type of encryption/pass key does the router use? (WM5 may not support the latest encryption/pass key systems)
Does it need to be put in a pairing mode before accepting new connections? (my router has this which I didn't notice at first)
Does it have a MAC filter?
There's no ecryption key and no MAC filtering. Other devices (latops, HP pdas) can connect to the router without any problem, so the problem is specific to HTC devices (Jamin and SP5 at least).

Maybe an issue with the CCX functionality, although I have no experience with that...
I think so too, but i don't know how to disable CCX in a router using Cisco IOS (or if it is possible).
