All,
I'm not able to use my USB connection anymore for activesync and in bootloader USB is not an option.
Is USB the only way to connect to the device for upgrading?
Or are there also other ways to connect?
Is there a maintenance guide for opening the Hermes like there is for the wizard?
It might have something to do with the fact that it got wet....
Cheers,
Hellejoep

Apps review
Did anybody try this yet? If so, please post a review of files. It could be in a following form:
[File Name]: [Description]: [Language: English/Chinese] : [Screenshot, if applicable]
It would help us out a lot. I don't read/understand Chinese, so don't want to install something I can't use anyway.
Thanx in advance.
Looks like no one is interested in trying it out/sharing. I guess, I'll set an example and start.
1. [BT_COM_PORT.CAB]:
Unlocks a list of COM ports in Bluetooth settings. Resolves the "Unable to create COM port" issue when trying to connect an Incoming/Outgoing COM port. See screenshot for details.

battery_OU_081304.sa.CAB gives you a battery status icon on the status bar (top) like that of an ordinary cell phone, which is also a shortcut to a battery control panel applet and a shortcut to memory control panel applet on the taskbar (bottom of the Today screen). Quite useless, if you ask me. Don't have it installed anymore, so no screenshot for now.
As to what other 2 cabs do, I have absolutely no clue. I did not see any difference after installing. And, actually, I really don't remember installing Gotone_103139.sa.CAB, anyway. Hope I helped.
tried the bt_patch didn't see any major improvements in comparison with 1.13wwe though. Powerwordce is probably a dictionary with a lot of Chinese & Airstrike is a simple but nice arcade with again a lot of chinese. Haven't tried the others, cause they all sound like Chinese branding of some sort.

Active Synch port issue
Having tried to troubleshoot a bluetooth active synch issue (mda compact could see the pc, not however connect via active synch with com port errors) to it i am delighted to say this bt_patch cab has soved this issue straight away.
Nice one.
Hi all
Since yesterday I own an MDA Pro, bought by my friend in Germany (Thanks!!)
Please be aware: This device is in german AND it has a SIM-LOCK!!
For the rest the device really rocks... some few things are not perfect but the device itself is
Sven
Hi Dumdidum,
Congratulations on your new acquisition. I am sure you are enjoying every bit of it, and you should
Firstly, could you explain a little more about the things that you found to be a problem on the device? What did you think was not perfect?
Secondly, could you tell us something about the Bluetooth Stack of the device? Is there a Bluetooth Serial Port Profile (SPP)? Can you voice dial using a BT headset? There is a small button the MDA Pro called "voice control". Is it only for voice recroding or are there any other voice related functions you can use it for?
Thirdly, how comfortable is it to use as a regular phone in comparison to the T-Mobile MDA III. Is there a gross difference or a minimal difference?
Lastly, When can we expect to see a "first impression" mini-review from you. Also, if you could post some pictures of your device including the packaging, we would be very grateful.
Best Regards,
Docc.
Also interesting would be:
is there USB-Host Support
does the WLAN Support WPA (AES)
Video Resolution
Hi Dumdidum,
I'm very interesting to know the video resolution that Universal can take. And can it use like a normal USB drive through its USB port? And, is the text are too small to read on Internet Explorer with 640x480 resolution?
To: Dumdidum

Congratulations to you getting the MDA Pro. I want to get the Universal even I slept to make a dream. Can you post the photo and comments in this forum?
Thanks!

2 questions:
Can you listen music or use voice dialing with bluetooth headset?
Can you dump the ROM with this tool - http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=22861 or this test program - http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=22861&start=75#149665 and share it with us?

Hi mamaich,
I tried both tools on my MDA Pro.
grab_it : Claims that it cannot create the file.
Testdump : starts, but after a while locks up the device. Process bar is about the half...it created a dump file with about 57,8 MB...
Cheers

Yep..should have found out that by myself
Anyway..good news for those who bought their device from T-Mobile in germany: T-Mobile will give out the unlock code for free to all people who bought it without a contract (749€). I just phoned the simlock-hotline and the woman said that she will send me my unlock code via email soon (next 2-3 days).
Can't wait..still debugging...
hope this helps somehow
cheers
I'm waiting to receive my Jamin and I'd like to know if is it simple to use it as pendrive...

Nope.

Thanks for this util...works great.
does this tool support usb2.0?
I think it does, if the device and the desktop support it. It just enables the USB port of the device to be used without using AS. Since the current devices do not support USB 2.0, we cannot know for sure.
GPRS.exe was a program someone developed here which activated the data connection. Unfortunately, I can't find the original thread, so if someone can point me there this post can be deleted.
I was curious as to who the developer was, and if they could easily pump out a version that doesn't display any pop up messages (New IP or Can't connect), either by default or command line. This is so it can be used in startup scripts for programs that don't connect by default.
Thanks.
If you are looking for the author, I beleive it originated at MoDaCo...Follow this thread might take you there:

The program can just be found here:

This is not what he is looking for, he is looking for GPRS.exe, not NOGRPS, they do completely different things.
As far as having a version of GPRS.exe without messageboxes, I've been looking for that too, but haven't found one yet. Another option, is to use Mortscript which has a function you can call that to connects to the data network.

Here the prog.

Hi Guys,
I'm sure I've seen a program mentioned on here where you connect your X1 via USB, and something pops up on the X1 screen to ask if you want just a simple USB mass storage device connection, or an active sync one. I've tried the forum search but I'm not turning anything up. Can someone tell me the name of this app?
Thanks,
Andrew

You don't have to search xda-devs to solve this,
search your phone instead
Start -> settings -> Connections -> USB to PC
Enjoy
Ah yes, I was aware of that. But I'm sure there was talk of an app on here which popped up on the X1 screen each time you plugged a USB cable in. I'm lazy so anything that saves a few button presses is good in my book
You mean the USBtoPC popup? Well, so far no one's done a cab for that for the X1.
Ah, that's the one! Hmm, I hadn't realised there was no cab for it. Oh well. I guess I'll go through the settings then. Thanks for the information.
I tried it with the existing cab for the Touch Pro in this forum and my impression is that the popup doesn't support WVGA and therefore won't even display.
Yes I tyhink there's a cab and even more: that feature is already included in several cooked ROMs
May I suggest you to search the ROM-development forums for it
.
Ya, the feature is in some of the cooked ROMs, but thing is no one did a cab for it. So unless you install one of those cooked ROMs.
I guese all we can do is wait, for someone to make a cab for it.
Hopefully itje or Daran would do one. Had tried asking but so far no response.

Yes, it is included, but it doesn't work... at least on my X1i...
well i can do a cab for you, but the popup messes up the x1, as active sync would have problem, and some features wont work, the x1 and touch HD witch the app came from has different drivers and approach for the usb popup menu. so i cant recomend it.
PS. read in the rom section as many, many and many want this feauture, but all it does is create problems.
so i wont do a cab for it aslong as the problems remain.
Try this cab.
It worked on my X1 but the popup seemed a bit messy.
