Hi,
I have spv c500,which I upgraded to wm5.
I am wondering hot to run on it the gmail mobile access application?
What Java virtual machine do you recommend me to Install? I need Hebrew charset support (Just for reading). Is there any way to sync my calendar and contacts with gmail?
Thanks.
You have two options to read gmail:
1. Activate POP forwarding in your gmail, then setup your gmail as a regular POP email account.
2. Get an exchange account and then forward your gmail to it, and then setup activesync. Depending on where you get the account, you might get other features (like contact and calendar sync). mail2web.com is one place that offers free exchange accounts that work great; this is the setup I am using.
Sorry as to your Hebrew question; I do not know anything about that.
Hi
gmail have java application to sync wm5 with gmail.
you can find it in http://m.gmail.com/app
The problem is that I can't find an appropriate Java Virtual Machine for it.
Any suggestions?

Hi guys
I'm wondering whether it is somehow possible to override the limitation of Activesync in WM and sync mails with more than 1 server?
I use mail-push for corporate mails, but would like of course to sync also my private mail2web - account.
what's the latest on this? sorry to revive such an old topic.
As far as I know, you'd have to use an alternative client to sync with multiple servers/
What if I want my handheld to sync to one exchange server just for email and another for contacts, calendar, and tasks?
At this time ActiveSync only supports 1 server.
mail from one exchange server, calendar/contacts from another...
Thanks to zim2323 on ppcgeeks:

Thought I would share it as i've been trying to figure out how sync my corporate email & calendar via one activesync server (company) and google contacts via another (the google server). So now I have both personal email (gmail IMAP) and work email (Exchange) and my personal contacts imported into the native contacts list.
Hope someone else finds this useful.
BTW, I also set HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ActiveSync\EnableNonLocalCrossPollination to "1" instead of "0".
And now???
No news about multiple accounts setup?
As gmail is now provideing push access this becomes more than frustrating to be limited to one push server!!!!!!
You're too lazy MS!
Activesync does support multiple servers if you are not syncing the same items with both.
For example:
I sync my calendar and contacts with google sync and sync just my email with the company I work for.
You just have to go into the pocket outlook and create a new account as if you were creating a pop3 or imap account and then select Exchange Server. You however can NOT sync contacts or email or anything with both.

Thx for your answer. That's what I am using.
Bu I want to use the push mode fo both accounts and Activesync does nto support it... Which is a pity!
I spent way too much time trying to get this working last night, so I'm here to ask if anyone knows how I can get my gmail account setup through ActiveSync, rather than the normal gmail app.
My reasoning for this is because I want to have my mail viewable through the Mail widget - but it will only let me choose an ActiveSync account
To setup the ActiveSync account on my HTC Touch Pro I just followed Google's guide here: http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138636&topic=14299
I used the same details to setup an ActiveSync account on my Hero, and it seems to successfully connect and tell me it's synced - but none of my emails are appearing?
Any ideas anyone? Or is there perhaps a way to select my gmail account in the HTC Mail widget?
You won't get email through ActiveSync with gmail - it's for Contacts and Calendar only.
You could use IMAP or POP3 access to your gmail account, via the HTC mail app...
First, make sure you have IMAP access enabled to your gmail account: http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=77695
Then, make sure you use the "manual setup" option in the HTC Mail app, and use the info provided on this page to proceed: https://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=114408
Hi Folks,
Yes, I already tried search. Here and Google and I did it for times and didnt find help. Thats reason for question:
I have an MS Exchange server and Gmail Account where I want the following Sync Setup.
MS Exchange over OTA: Emails, Contacts, Calendar
Gmail over OTA: Emails, Contacts
Could anyone provide help to me? The well known Registry Hack with "EnableNonLocalCrossPollination" does not work because its designed for mutliple Sync via USB and not OTA. In short words: I have to activate two Exchange accounts on my mobile for Sync via UMTS.
Use WinMo outlook account for sync with Exchange
Set up GMail account for mail only
Use 3rd party sync tool, like this one
http://www.milow.net/public/projects/activegcsync-project-page.html
to sync calendar and contacts with Google
I am tires of WINMO 6.5, and WP7 is not what I want. The only thing is that I can't give up my hotmail, and NO I don't want POP3 version, and the exchange trick won't show me attachments..... not html etc.
I want hotmail to behave like any an regular email client.
As of now this is how I am setup on winmo 6.5:
1. PH#s (contacts with PH#s) + Calendar = Gmail, synced via microsoft exchange (I do this because I use Google voice)
2. Email (Hotmail) + Email contacts - synced via windows live email client
Any advise will be greatly appreciated. Also... I would like to combine somehow all my contacts in one directory that will be synced somehow between gmail (for google voice texts and calls) and hotmail (since I use this all over my PC's and add contacts from different locations. Can I do all this and use ANDROID?? Please help!! Thank you!!! - Peter
lol you already have the right parts. Just finish adding your contacts to Gmail. Sign in to your Gmail account as your Google account on your Android phone and you can automatically sync your Google calendar and Google contacts. You can even auto sync your contacts so that as soon as they're in your phone they'll be added to your contacts. If you're worried about all your email only contacts showing up in your dialer, then you usually have the option to only show contacts with phone numbers.
Gmail (as with most e-mail clients) supports HTML.
You've just reminded me what a PITA WM6.5 was. It was workaround after workaround to get the last workaround to work. There's a reason Microsoft dumped the old "Windows Mobile" name and start fresh. 6.5 compared to ANY modern smartphone software is just dumb. Sorry for the rant, I think I was getting flashbacks @[email protected]
In Gmail you can add your hotmail, yahoo and others through an interface(PC only). When you have your gmail account open in a browser(PC) click the gear in the upper right corner and select mail settings. Then select accounts and imports tab and it's the second option. Super easy as I have done it. As for mail, there is a @mail app built into android. Just google hotmail android and you'll find pop3/imap/exchange settings everywhere. And I do believe that @email android app is HTML viewable.
There is no reason at this point to keep that old 6.5 phone, jump over to Android and you'll totally forget you ever had a lesser phone.
But.. still if I add Hotmail via exchange, it wont let me view attachments... Pop3 is not the way to go, since is not a complete sync with the server (I check Hotmail from different PC's and add/remove contacts constantly. Pop3 won't sync that)

So does this mean I will switch from Hotmail? And when I reply to an email received at hotmail will show my gmail as sender? Again, I don't want to switch from hotmail. All I want is an "email client" for android that fully suports hotmail with 2 way sync. I hope you understand.
P.S. looks like my post shows up twice. How do I delete the other one?
Thank you you guys for your help!!!
I believe "Enhanced Email" for Android does what you're looking for. It can use Exchange ActiveSync and has an option for HTML email.
Also, if you want to sync Gmail and Hotmail contacts, try Soocial.

On my phone, I use the included email app in CM7, and just enter email/pass and it gets hotmail fine, full html and attachments.
or you can root, install Cyanogenmod, then put browser as a desktop agent....and you can veiw it just as if you were on a normal computer
Gmail has always worked great for me on android. Its a must when you check your mail on multiple devices. Android lets you save contacts to your gmail account, so you can edit your phone contacts in gmail. Im sure you could then import the contacts to hotmail.
I posted how to's in your other thread. Not posting them again here.

It is a one way sync, CM7 is a custom ROM for android. What phone are you planning to get? I've heard there is someway to get GMail to send over all your hotmail stuff and use it as a 2 way sync, but im not sure. Microsoft always kept Hotmail hard to access from non-microsoft products.
