My O2 XDAII is 10 weeks old. After using the internet and the screen freezing I SOFT-RESET it. Now the screen will only flash with the O2 logo between the backlight coming on and off and a few letters/numbers at the bottom right of the screen. Ive never had any problems before...I cant soft-reset, hard-reset or (it seems) to be able to charge it. The only way in which it stops 'flashing' is to take out the battery. Is there anything I can do at home?? (as you probably guessed Im a novice at all this!)
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Many thanks, Rob
This happened to me just yesterday, although It happened in different circumstances. Baiscally, I went to turn the phone on and it wouldn't (with any button.) I tried a soft reset and all that happened was the O2 screen appeared with the backlight flashing on and off every 10secs.
Before trying a hard reset I waited to see what would happen when i connected it to the cradle at work. Soon as I connected it. it switched back on, but it was as if it had done a hard reset (ie everything I have installed was erased. Good job I made a backup!).
Basically, it seemed to rectify the problem once connected to the cradle, which hasn't happened to you I know, but i thought I'd let you know that I got the same "symptoms".
Hi Everyone,
I'm having some issues with my P3600.
Sometimes (to many times in the past days) while making something on it, the image on the screen suddenly mess up (freezes and weird image) and hangs. Then after the soft reset, somethimes the image stays black, and finally on the 5\6 try it boots fine...
Also noticed that this occurs more while connecting the usb cable jack to sync...
Already make some hardresets and some rom upgrade tests... Also tryed some wm61 cooked rooms, no luck.
Anyone already got this? I think there's must be some problem on the flat cable that connects the lcd-board. Can anyone help me whit some more ideas... before I decide to open it?
Thanks In advantage

it happens the same to me... the pixels all messed up... i dont know wath is the problembut i think its the flat cable ... becouse i have open it one time 3months ago and now its fine. now yesterday have done the same thing
sorry my english
Ok, I open it last night based on the service manual I found somewhere on the Internet, the flat cable looks fine... Now this morning this same situation occurred again, this time while unplugging the usb charger. I Think there's must be some problem on the usb connector. The usb connector is part of the main board so it could be a hardware board issue? Anyone got this on problem on Trinity? Any troubleshooting tips ideas will be appreciated...

hi,
same here. trinity hangs up after some time, screen stays black, when i try to wake it up.
have to hard reset several times and it wont boot for some trys, then with luck the windows sometimes finaly starts. I already changed the simcard and removed the sd-storagecard.
The vodafone hotline adwised me to send it in. Seems to me like a hardware issue.
My trin is about 1 year old.
(sry for my bad english)

hi,

hi, the same to me... it's like the rom's, after a few soft reset couldn't find the necessary files to start again.... and sometimes, after meny tries, it starts well... it's like the ppc processor gets tired and goes to stand by..... it starts freezing the display, and loosing some pixels. so the only things to do is soft resetting the device... any solution? thanks
same with my htc - it appears to me that the errors occur when the trinity was used for a while and the processor was getting warm. the files and folders on the sd-card show strange symbols. but i have also problems when i stick out the sd-card completely.
i will send it to htc repair center - i just hope that they will not send it back as the errors occur only frequently.
so long,
bjoern
solution solved
take taste power and center ok reset take few sec to powering and phone starting
or power and run and stop call reset and phone starting on factory powering
not solved at all
sorry no - this is not the point - i think all guys here have (hard- and soft-) reset their Trinity more than 50x!
the problem is that once the software has crashed you can`t reset it for about 20min - it seems that the processor has to cool down or something like that - after a while (if I´m lucky) my P3600 boots as normal.
I already flashed several new roms - same problem with all of them - I`m pretty sure it`s a hardware failure.
Hello, i don't have any such problem, my Trinity runs very stable even with cooked roms. but sometimes Mobile navigator 7 takes too much memory so the System becomes instable and i have to softreset it.
Hi, mine bug also, and that's begin 2 or 3 days after I have flash to the 1.56.70.11 Radio Rom....
mine worked fine for about 1 1/2 years but suddenly it crashed continous. i havent flashed it and allready hard reseted several times on different days. sometimes it worked for a while but hangs if i started a bigger app like tomtom. vodafone told me they will exchange my p3600. now im waiting for their call
E: Got a new one today which works perfectly so far!
Hi guys,
has anyone had this issue solved without swapping the device?
I have the same problem.....
Bye

Same problem here...
I have to sftreset or hard reset several times to get it runing again...
In my opinion its some kind of problem with the processor...
Stiil i'm hoping this is a software insue... so that sone one have a hotfix for that...
For my part, when my Trinity crash, I remove the mini-SD, the SIM card and the battery. I just re put the battery, restart (soft reset until WM has realy start, and no more touch or screen freezes), I replace the sim, restart again.. and finaly I replace the mini-sd. It's very long, but generally works well
EDIT:
Finally, I better make my tongue and keep my method for me because at evening begin, my trinity crashed and impossible to turn it on until I finally come back house and have no need more...
my hand that it will crash tomorow morning juste after leave to works
hi, i started getting the same problem.
only thing different is I upgraded to wm6.1 (Mary SL)
I took it back to wm6 which was still locking, then down to wm5.
1week later no issue!
maybe the wm6+ os's needs more cpu than wm5 and causes it to overheat!
just a thought!

I don't think so because I downgraded my Trinity to original WM5 and, even if there were less crashes, it crashed anyway.
Now it's still with WM5 but it doesn't start anymore, only backlight.
Ciao

I want to let you known that my Trinity has run ok for 5 hours without any issue after putting some paper between battery and metallic plate under the battery.
I had to press a little over the rear cover to have it placed correctly because the battery is higher than before.
Keep in mind that it stopped running completely 3 monthes ago, it didn't start anymore and it didn't even go into bootloader mode.
Now I'm using WinMobile 6.5 beta........
Ciao!

My Touch2 was purchased on 16-Nov 2009. It experiencing intermittent self-power off problem when phone was left ideal for couple of second! I believed it was referred to many as Standby-of-dead (SOD) problem.
Secondly, the phone "freeze" intermittent when charging with power adapter.
For both cases, the phone cannot be turn on via the Power button. Must perform manual Reset to power on the phone each time.
I performed FACTORY Reset 5 times already; disabled the Touch2Flo; disabled ALL auto power off; disable auto switching of Band.. yet none of it resolve the problem. I feel like throwing the phone against the wall many times!!
Any expert views highly appreciated!

##UPDATE: I logged a problem ticket with HTC Service center at Malaysia 2month ago. The service center called and they offered to change the motherboard. I had it changed unfortunately the problem still persist. And worst still the touch screen didn't not respone after a while. I sent to fix and waited for another 2weeks, and they changed the 2nd motherboard. (It's under warranty thus FREE of charge!) I'm been using the repaired phone for past 2monts WITHOUT any intermittent power off issue.. YIPPI!
P/s: My batt Serial No: 1GKA299KQQ4912. Part No: 35H0015-11M. The HTC repair report did not mentioned whether they change my batt nor I cannot confirmed whether it was the "-07M". Anyway, I'm glad that my nightmare is over for now
Do you mean a "hard reset" when you mention "factory reset"? If that did not help.......my suggestion would be to send it to HTC service......
Success...
Same Problem
Same problem here. first it happened 1 time a month but now it happenes 2 times a day.
i have newest htc rom
i think it has something to do with the sms. when i wrote much sms so that history has over 200 sms the boot sequence and every thing is very slow for about 15 minutes.
someone else got same problems?
Description I have recently bought a new htc touch2(special Version) phone with 8GB SanDisK microSD. . the problem i'm facing is that when my phone's unused for a few seconds and it goes into standby , it does not come out of that mode.... The only thing that can be done after that is a Hard Reset . . . . .also the volume rocker does not work in the default music player...i cud wrote 10 more bugs here . . . .kindly help me out with this issue
return the phone back and get ur money back ... if hard reset isnt workin , then it's a mechanical problem and it couldnt just be fixed with soft fix or somethin like that ...
get a real Touch2 , not some special editions which have bugs like urs !
The same is happening to me, but I realized that if you press power button and wait aprox 60 seconds the screen turns on. Obviously this is not useful.
i had the same problem. phone refusing to come out of sleep mode (screen would not unlock) found a fix on the htc official web site called:
(Update for HTC Touch2 – Owner Information )
and all is ok now. hope this helps
My experience...
Please take care of your battery! Especially the way you charge it really matters.
Better always charge with an official charger.

I updated my touch2 two days ago and worked
But five minutes ago it turned off again i ll call support support service tomorrow and post the answer..
Got the same problem. Russian dealer says that it is the accumulator's fault. What is the S/N of accum on problem device? If it ends with 35, that is the problem. Good accums goes with 07M end of S/N. Try this, many people solved it so. I'm waiting a new accum too
Try recalibrating the battery:
By completely discharging it and then charging it to the full with phone switched off. I do not know about Mega but it worked for my Gene.
Also, that unable to wake up from standby problem will be solved if you install the personal information update from HTC and in the lock screen mode, choose windows classic instead of the default mode.
I faced this issue once and solved it. After the update though you can use the default lock method (slide to unlock)... looks like HTC got the idea from S2U2
I'll bring my phone to dealer today. Hope they will change to another one or will do the moneyback
Service says that trouble is in the battery. "Bad" accum S/N ends with number 11, "good" - with 07. In 3 days I'll take my device back with new accum and we shall see)
I've heard something like that in relation with some SIM.
Alarm:battery
I am sure that the problem described should be related to shoddy batteries.Try change one (better non-official HTC),and it would solve the bug. I say this totally thru my own long pains-taking experience. Believe me!
I've also got this problem. And what's worse, I read on the internet that many more (older) HTC devices cope with this problem. I've just done a Hard Reset and i'll check whether it works now.
I hope I do get a working one if I send it back to the store :s

Can you tell me where did you read this?
Dunno but a week ago I searched with google on 'HTC turn off', 'HTC screen off' & 'HTC turns off automatically' etc. You will find many hits... (only winmo phones though)
This is Major issue , i got Touch2 a few days back and the auto-shutdown has bugged me many times.
My vendor asked me to reset the phone, after reset so far i had no problems of auto shutdown,
But when i plug the USB into my system attached to phone it shut downs
I'm having same problem with same feelings
has anyone managed to resolve the issue.. I've tried latest rom, even customized ones but no luck..

Hi Guys i hope somebody who knows about capacitive touch screens can help me! I have taken my HD2 apart to fix a smashed camera lense. On removing the back cover i used a small screwdriver to prise off the back case and unclip it all round. It came off with no problem, i fixed the camera and put it back together. When i turned the device back on the touch screen isn't responding to my finger on any screen. Like i turned the touch screen off! The hard buttons still wok but nothing from the screen. Nothing looks damaged (I.e the glass isn't smashed). I seem to think i might have damaged something when prising the cover off with the screwdriver. Please, any suggestions would be really helpful!!!
Can anybody out there help with this? I am currently without a phone :-(
I have exactly the same problem, but it happened from nowhere. I didnot unscrew anything. Please Help
Check the flex cable.. this part are very delicate.
is this :

same problem
ive got the same problem, mine just stopped working, i performed a soft and hard reset, removed the battery still nothing. it worked for a moment but once locked it stopped working again, only the hard buttons.
same problem but it works on and off. basically the screen will respond until the phone is put into hibernate. the after that id have to push the phone button and end button back and forth until it responds
Same Issue independant of ROM
Same issue here.
Funny thing is it started a week or two ago randomly out of the blue.
Same scenario:
lock the phone can't get touchscreen to respond for unlock
Judging by these posts everyone started seeing this about the same time, maybe it's a software issue or background app .
Help!
I have same problem. It can work for a couple of hours or in 1-2 days then just stop responding, almost every time when in hibernate. Lets just hope it's not hardware failure.
This started happening to me this morning. Out of 50 tries, managed to unlock the phone three times only. This happened out of the blue, right after i removed my phone from the charger.
Have soft reset, hard reset, reflashed ROM, but the issue still remains.
I really really hope this is not a hardware issue.
Does anyone out there know how to solve this? My phone is virtually unusable right now...
Same problem here, I've been testing for about 2,5 months now and today I've sent mine back to HTC . I think it's a hardware problem, tried everything from hard resetting to reflashing. When I press the HTC logo and keep it pressed the screen does respond again. Conclusion: hardware problem.

You're probably right.
I've also tried everything. But kind of strange that if I lock when not on home tab it seems to work. And the screen, almost always, reacts as it should as long as I just dont' lock it.
I just started to get this issue. touch screen works fine until it hibernates. reflashed, still happens. found this in my search:
htcphones.net/htc-hd2-problems-with-touchscreen/
just got off the phone with tmo. they are sending me a new one.
Yeah, it happened to me as well. I opened a new thread like a month ago explaining the problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=710282&styleid=15
and I contributed in another one concerning the same issue here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=708530
Summing all up, it ain't caused by a software or a ROM of some kind (at least in my case) because soft and hard resets didn't solve it nor did the flash of a stock ROM. The most probable cause is a digitizer (touchscreen) defect that appears randomly and totally out of the blue. The only thing to do in my opinion is to send the phone in for repair, which I did. It came back with a check mark on "calibrated screen" checkbox. As of now phone's working fine and I hope they solved it even though I read of other people who have had their leo's screens completely replaced..
A curious side note: htc care reset to zero my phone's call duration timers..
I'm not sure if it's the screen. In my case I think it's the connector from the screen to the motherboard, because pressing the housing seems to help.
But let's see if HTC is able to repair it, I hope they are, because the problem is so random they might not even see it
After losing functionality on my touch screen for a week, finally decided to send it in. Took the trouble to revert my HSPL to original and Stock Rom.
Repair should take about a week. Now I'm stuck with an ancient Nokia 6230i for this week. I feel so lost without my ppc. Have had one for as long as I can remember.
Hopefully the phone comes back okay...
I've had so much problem with the screen not responding so I did all backup then reflashed, hard reset to put the device back to stock. Did this during the weekend, I even fired up my old iphone 3g to have as backup phone.
All set today to go to the store and have it repared under warranty.
But since Sunday evening it works perfect. I've been testing it a lot and the screen has not stop responding even once.
This might be just temporarily but does anyone else experienced something like this?
Mine sometimes worked well for hours... days... but eventually the problem came back.
Mine died on me when I was actually out of the country (stuck in Vietnam without a phone). It would work for 5 minutes, then stop for hours. I would have to switch my phone on and off for a couple hundred times before it worked for another 5 minutes...
Got so tired of it that i sent back my HD2 for warranty repair. Expect it to be back tomorrow (or Friday at the latest). Hope there's no further problems with it.
I hate to say it, but the HD2 is known for its highly defective touchscreen. Even when it's working, a lot of people experience strange and bothering events, such as the touchscreen "touching" itself, a very high/very low screen sensitivity all of a sudden, the tilting of the screen to one of the four corners of the device and so on and so forth.
With a device so expensive one would expect it to work flawlessly. Seems to me that HTC doesn't think the way we do...
Hi all,
Long time no post here!
I have an HTC U Ultra, about one year old, heavy usage. All of a sudden the Home button has started to fail. I have fingerprint scanning enabled, but it doesn't work when the screen is unlocked either, so I'm not sure it is related to the fingerprint scanner, I think it's more a hardware/software issue with the button...
I have followed another thread on this but I'm not able to resolve it.
The only thing that seems to temporarily resolve the issue is to switch it off, give the screen a good wet wipe clean and then switch it back on again. Just rebooting doesn't resolve the issue.
It seems to be getting worse in as much as it seems to be failing more often and increased regularity. I'm reluctant to factory reset it as I'll have to reconfigure it all again and I have read on other threads that it does not resolve the problem. The back and other (don't know what it is called!) button work fine.
Does anyone know what the cause is or shall I send it in for repair?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Interesting this just started happening to me too , also 1 year and few month old phone and heavy usage.
Not to mention that since day 1 , the charger that came with the phone suddenly stops charging.
I bought another original HTC charger, and it behaves exactly the same.
especially when battery is very low like 10% or less, it don't charge at all.
I regret buying this phone, worst phone I have ever had
