Tom Tom 6 and Artemis. Hoping my Initial Impressions may help someone.

I'm a newbie... not up to the high standards of others here. But I thought it might be useful to give a newbies initial impressions on running TomTom 6 (application+DVD) on an Artemis.
I ordered TomTom from TomTom online. They quoted up to 5 weeks, but it took 5 days to get the DVD which contains application and Europe map and I received my TomTom 6 this afternoon and loaded it on my XDA Orbit with no real problems. (See below)
This goes against the advice of TomTom who say that it is not supported yet.
I started by resetting the XDA Orbit clean, which obliterated CoPilot.
TomTom 6 installed easily from the installation DVD.
Using the application software, I put the main program in the memory of the XDA, but put the maps and extra bits on a 2GB card. I was nervous about buying a 4gb or larger card , and so purchased a CNEX Flash format program to give me better control of what was happening on the Flash card.
The program installs on the PC first, and shows a split screen showing what's available to you on the left (e.g. DVD) and what's on your Artemis on the right (Memory & Flash card).
Registering was easy, but if you elect to pay for the Traffic reports etc, it's advisory to read the instructions to avoid losing out on the free month.
Finally, I downloaded John Cleese's voice at 10 Euros, since I'm a Python fan. This is nice.
Comparing it to CoPilot some issues struck me.
Good News?

First,It seems to be working well.
To my mind the range of TomTom extras seems huge and well developed. Colours, maps, layouts, voices. Good stuff.
I don't get CoPilot starting up at every opportunity.. like incoming calls. (Yes I've disabled the button)
I'll add to this thread anything I discover.

First, TomTom does not have an 'Exit' in the program like CoPilot. This was/is a pain.
No doubt I'll discover an answer from some helpful soul soon.
I press the red phone icon when in TomTom which brings up the XDA's menu. I can then I'm select Memory, Programs in use, and hit it over the head with a mallet.
It does raise the question what happens if someone rings me? More investigation needed.
Secondly, Tom Tom does not have a menu structure. You just touch the map which brings up options via icons. It works, but was/is not intuitive for me as CoPilot was.
I think I prefer the 2d direction maps of CoPilot to the 3D of TomTom. But it's early days.
General

I have always had low Satellite reception on my XDA Orbit. Particularly in my house. CoPilot vsTomTom made no difference. In the car reception worked fine even with a heated front windscreen.
I've still got some ferreting around to do. I want to increase the warning distance from 200metres for one thing. I've also got to find out about the Traffic Alerts and how it works and can suggest rerouting etc.

It's obviuos you're quite new to TT, since there is an exit-button in TT, well it's somehow misplaced but it's there. When TT shows the map -> tap on the screen -> hit the next page button twice -> voila the exit button.
To edit the menu to your likings you can build your own TT menu. Onlineversion & Offlineversion. Just to make things clear the TomTom.mnu belongs in \TomTom\SdkRegistry
It does'nt make a difference if you use TT or another GPS-capable software in terms of GPS reception it depends only on the location your are roaming in (and I must say I'm more then positiv suprised with the quality of the GPS chip compared to all other devices I had before). Every software gets the same data from the Orbits inbuild GPS chip (well if you are intend to try MN6 it is likely you will experince problems with the positioning but it's cause MN6 is running slow as hell)

Thanks. The idea of being able to construct the pages in your own desired order is very appealing.

That's helpful. It's my first foray into GPS stuff, and I was suprised when I lost CoPilot over the Christmas period. The o2 rep said that it was the fog, and I still am sceptical that that was the whole story.

What exactly do you wanna know? The GPS reception or MN6?
I've taken a look at MN6 about 2 weeks ago and it was not usable in any way. Navigating through the menu was horrible slow and from what I've heard from others it gives voice instructions way too late, just when you have passed destination/turnings. Also calculating the route is very slow.
I had the chance to test MN6 on a PNA (Transonic 6000) the other week and even on this kind of device it was not running that well but much much better than on my Artemis.

I get you. Hence my comment earlier about wanting to give myself more than 200metres warning.
So far not yet past destinations... but it's only day two.

I notice a thread about TomTom and T-Mobile MDA Compact 3 and it seems to run ok on that. Isn't the T-Mobile MDA Compact 3 roughly the same as my Orbit is is it the operator making a difference?

I just got my MDAC3 as well and have just installed TT6 from a DVD. These are my thoughts to your questions above. I did a bit of web searching before I got one though, to find out that YES, the MDAC3 = O2 Orbit = Dopod P800W = HTC Artemis (with(out) various options made possible by Texas Instruments(the makers of the hardware) [MDAC3, Orbit, Dopod P800W are corporate brand names of the various carriers in their relevant countries, but are all know and referred to as ARTEMIS in the development circles.]
Answers to Q1 and Q2: -
I think the slowness may be due to a combination of several things.
a.) The type of microSD card you have in your set - when I was searching to buy one, I noticed there are 2 types : a normal one and and ultra II. The difference is the ultra II has a faster read/write speed, which is affects the general speed/performance of the TT6.
b.) AFAIK(As far as I Know) The orbit has a bit more capabilities than the MDAC3 such as WIFI. This additional function the same processor-OMAP850 has to cater for. Now, this porcessor is not necessarily the most efficient or the fastest available, so impacts performance as well.
c.) If you overclock, there will be a noticable improvement in performance, and a corresponding increase in battery consumption, but this may not translate to an improved experience with TT6, if you have it on a normal card vis ultra II.
The speed of refreshing the map overlay and playing the sound files associated I believe is the reason you hear the instructions after passing the landmarks/turnings, all of which I think is due to the card read/write spead again, plus the processor speed.
Answer to Q3
Its surprising that you mentioned GPRS - as this differs from GPS which the TomTom uses, though I was made to understand that a SatNav software may also use the GPRS (wierd - as this is VERY expensive if you dont have the unlimited package only available cheaply on T-Mobile). You may want to check the the connection settings of the TomTom, changing it to connect using the GPS on a port you set on the hardware.
Start Menu > Settings > System> GPS > Hardware (You may also set the port for TT6 to connect on the Program window.
TT6 starts the GPS receiver upon request for navigation (which I thought was intelligent - to save battery power)
Lastly,
IMOE (In my own Experience) I initially installed the TT6 software + maps from the DVD + POI overlay to the microSD ULTRA II, and noticed it froze up many times then I installed in the phone memory, removed the overlay (TT6 has a manageable one), maps still in the microSD and it stopped freezing up, plus refresh of map was every second.
Now I have overclocked with the hope of a good performance whilst multitasking, which is Ok with some combinations and not with others. Hence my conclusion as stated above. The processor really can be better, but Vs price, it will not be marketable in its class with the many ther products out there at the price it is given.

You can use a 2D map mode if you really want to, go to change preferences/ Turn off 3D display.
You can overclock the unit but I have found no valid reason to actually do this.
The GPRS charges are only applicable to the actual data transferred to/ from your device, so don't worry about it remaining connected - if there is no data traffic there will be no extra charges.
Leave the GPS applet alone (the one that exists in the settings menu) this often leads to confusion and is only really needed to be used/ set-up IF you want to run two applications at the same time (not something the Artemis excels at due to the processor power). Set to Other NMEA GPS receiver/ Baud 9600/ COM4 should be all that is required.
As for poor GPS reception, you mention the car has a heated screen, is this Athermic glass which is known to attenuate the signal or a standard wire heater element embeded in the glass (which do not affect GPS performance) - make sure the Quick GPS data is up to date, and don't drive around until the device has actually locked on to the signal - Mike

i have just fot the xda orbit and just trying to find me way round it but i was hopeing for a helping hand from anyone on here , i want a sat nav on it but is there any software you can get which means you dont have to pay to use and i want a to try obatin spb pocket software any ideas how i would get that please

This thread is all about TomTom6. Best Sat-Nav software I have found for the Orbit. Doesn't cost anything to use after you purchase the software, unless you want to add the extra's, like Traffic data or Weather data.
TT6 and WM6 sloww processing
I updated my Orbit to WM6 yesterday and was a bit annoyed that TomTom has slowed down to a point where it's pretty useless for navigating. this is made worse by the fact that on WM5 it was faultless, and a lot faster to process than an Eten glofiish X500, which has a 400MHz processor!
Can I roll my Orbit back to WM5? If so, how do I do it?

You can download O2 UK WM5 ROM from these forums. just run this and you should be OK back to WM5.
On a different note. I too installed WM6 onto my Orbit and noticed NO slow down in speed of navigation. If anything I noticed it was slightly faster. Not sure why you experience the opposite from me.
Only thing I can think of is:- Did you install O2 WM6? or B&B v4?

I've got my upgrade from the official O2 site. tell me more about B&B v4? What is it, where is it, and is it any good? Can I do another install over the O2 WM6? Thanks in advance.

Go into the mobile 6 thread in the forums. Black & Blue version4 looks a lot better that O2's WM6 and runs a damn site faster too. Do not upgrade to O2 WM6 first though. You need to be running WM5 and then upgrade to B&B 4 as the upgrade does something to the handset and seems to block any further update.
Before you do anything you need to download and install USPL on your handset. If you don't do USPL first you will end up with a stylish "brick"

Many thanks for that. I searched the site last night, and found B&B v4, and V3.7, and also USPL. Unfortunately, I had already upgraded with the O2 WM6, so although I have also been able to roll back to WM5 (and TomTom is now back up to speed), I am getting the "Image file corrupted" message with any attempted update, including USPL. Looks like I've been blocked from any updates unless anyone has a solution? I still have my Glofiish X500 running WM6, but the XDA runs TomTom more quickly.

This has happened to a few people. Download the file again and try.
P.S. Are you using XP or Vista. Vista seems to be a bit problematic. Some people have gotten Vista to flash ok, I on the otherhand have not.
For complete trouble free flashing use XP.
Run start_uspl.exe file, then after phone has rebooted again, run the ROM of your choice and upgrade to WM6. You won't be disappointed.........unless you run the O2 WM6 which I have found to be a big disappointment.

The Artemis USPL successfully "unlocked" my XDA, and after that it was an easy ROM update - I know have a fully functional B&B v4! Many thanks for your help and advice - donation to PDAViet on it's way.
TomTom v660.1256 map now working just as well as before - just in time for my 10 day driving trip to Spain at the end of the month. I thought I was going to have to buy a TomTom unit, but no need now.
Incidentally, I haven't worked out what "Touch Flo" is all about - can you enlighten me?

If you press the windows key ( beside the GPS key) then drag your finger across the screen from left to right, the cube should spin with different icons on it. Looks cool.

I am just about to purchase a new PDA. I am deciding between the Wizard (o2 xda mini s) and Universal (o2 xda exec).
The universal seems to have everything I want, but I am scared by the posts here.
So I have one basic question for you guys:
Do you think:
1. There are basic hardware problems which can't be resolved until there is a new version
2. It is just a buggy software/firmware issue, and this will be fixed by the current and future firmware upgrades ?
If it is 2, I will not mind buying it ?

Only a personal viewpoint, but my view is that most of the problems are being caused by software that claims to support WM5.0 - but the reality is that although they do support it, not all software is as robust as it should be. I have installed and uninstalled a whole range of applications (purchased and trial versions) - and found that many cause lock-ups etc. After trial and error I have settled on a PIM (Pocket Informant) and a closer/launcher (GSPocketMagic) that work reliably, do not cause my Universal to lock up and do not seem to have any effect on system speed. Others I have tried may cause lock-ups or at least really slow the system performance down significantly. Not sure if others have found the same - just what I have found by trial and error. Hope it helps

Also it seems if you read aximsite re: dell x51v, that Wm5 is not as compatable with wm2003se software as people think.
What also seems to be adding to the issues is that the service providers (o2, orange, etc.) are NOT aware of this and are installing applications as standard (e.g. battery meter) which actually cause lags in answering phone calls as they are not correctly for Wm5.
I guess the question is now, does the jasajr work fine when all bad the sowftare is uninstalled, and is it possible to uninstall monitoring software that service providers have installed ?
I just bought mine on Monday... great piece of kit!
If you are just going to use the software that came with it you shouldn't have any problems at all (i haven't anyway) all is working well.
I think as soon as WM2005 becomes more established and more developers cater for it the glitches will go, like NH said, it's more 3rd party software that's causing the problems

My position is clear. WM5 itself has bugs and does things you don't expect. Here are just four examples of WM5 probelms which are nothing to do with third-party apps:
- If the Camera app is left on it heats-up the devices as it drains the battery
- On downloading email over GPRS/3G the Messaging app can freeze
- Media stored on the SD card when used by apps when the "suspend" option is used can cause the app to fail when you re-start your device
- WM5 can report it has insufficient memory even when it has 20MB of RAM free
- Memory leakage means you need to reset the device daily
- If you do reset it is possible to loose settings and data if this data has not been written back to the persistent storage from the real RAM
O2, and they give you 3 options for "install type" so if you want all the bells and whistles you can switch it on, or if you want just the basic software you can switch that on lol...
I have to sort my internet out for 3G, needs to be config for some reason.... but from what i have seen from GPRS it's top dog esp with sites that cater for mobile internet....
this is not good jah, i am put off again. although this could be fixed with a firmware update if htc provide that kind of thing. Anyone know their record on this for other devices ?
hey budo. If 3g is turned on, it should use it automatically for connection, even if it says gprs. that is normally how all my 3g phones have worked when 'bluetoothed' with a pda.

I am not trying to put you off but just want to make sure you have a balanced perspective. I have an Exec and all I can say is that it is "high maintenance" like all M$ based systems

I'm not sure I totaly agree with you about M$ stuff. I had a dell x50v and currently have an orange m500, and they are perfectly reliable and low mainentance. It does seem however that the hardware people have rushed out wm5 systems without really doing their research and I am sure M$ is responsible for a load of bugs. Roll on WM5se ......

Sux. This pixel doubling issue means that you don;t get anywhwere near the estate you expected. U can switch to Oz VGA but that costs a 5 min reset either way - easier to get to a PC! The other issue is that the IE browser is SO bad that 3G surfing feels like GPRS - in fact I used to fire up my laptop just to check that I had a good 3G signal in the area and was indeed surfing on UMTS!! Issue is that browser renders slowly, and cache's so badly that it actually reloads the whole friggin page when u go 'back'. I could have my laptop working on a 3G card right alongside my JJ on 3G, type in xda-developers and press 'go', and my laptop would give me the screen in seconds, whilst my JJ would take a full minute!! We're taking over 10x slower. Also, many sites do not render in PIE - blank drop boxes etc. In SA that's movie booking gone, not a SINGLE TV guide site works, and altho my private bank works, my company bank does not. However, terminal services in VGA is awesome...

I don't really have problem with 3G and PIE. I use T-mobile and o2 in the UK and the rendering etc is reasonable given that I did not expect laptop like performance on my Exec. The Exec in corp mode with GSPMagic+ is very quick.
I have a problem while using tomtom 5.21 to plan the route. I am using UK map plus, with tomtom 5.21, it also connects the BT GPS properly and works like dream in positioning. But it exits suddenly once it starts to plan the route.... (It had succeed in planning when I installed it at the first time, and then it failure /exit afterwards... )
I don't know why it happens like that. And I have tried to hard reset, clear the all the stuffs and re-install again, even 5.1 and 5.21, nothing improved...
Does anyone get the same case before? or give me some advice~?

Go into TomTom settings and click on "Hide POI" and see if that helps.

I didn't mention it. I have read a lot of posts here and google, but most of them got the same conclusion is POI porblem. I have closed the function of POI, even deleted it from the map, but the result's still disappointing me...

This could be the problem of your SD-Card, it might be a slow/normal SD-Card. Try to use some good speed & quality SD-Card.

I had the same problem with my mdaIII, turns out to be not enough free memory (need more than 10mb)
But I do not know if this could be the case on universal since they have a different operating system (ppc2003se / wm5 )
but you could try to free memory (program)
yes~ I thought it was lack of memory causes this problem before, however I had a hard reset on the xda exec and just installed TomTom in it, that's also failure.

Follow this steps:
1. Change perferences > Set Units
2. On the GPS position display page, DON'T choose the first one. (either the 2nd or the 3rd one is ok)
It seems work~!!! Tested it twice, no "exit" after changing the setting.

After hearing the news of O2 Atom Life being planned for release, I, like most of the users out there who bought it was restlessly waiting for its release.
Sadly, after getting my hand on the device, I am faced with the following problems (WM5 and WM6).
1. Video Call - The vtcall application requires 10mb of free ram to start. When in use, it only uses about 2-3mb of ram (confirmed by O2 support). The problem is, the average free ram of most users is around 8-10mb. When receiving video call, vtcall fails to start up.
2. Slow performance while scribing - Writing using the stylus is misery with this device. Each strokes appeared slowly and you are unable to write naturely. Instead you have to write very slowly, letter by letter. The excuse given by O2 Support is because of it using the rom as temporary memory for the touch screen and also because of the rom size (1gb). I was told that it is so because they can't foresee what will be effected when they decided to put in 1gb of rom. For me, it seems like it has a design flaw. I wonder if I can return the product and get back my money as this is the main reason why I regret getting Atom Life.
1. Windows Live - All features of Windows Live will try to connect via 3G/GPRS even though the device is already connected to the internet via wifi. Anyway, can't blame this on O2 as it seems to be the problem with WM6 but if they did a good testing, they should have known this and as Microsoft to fix it.
2. O2 Calendar - When tapped, it always open the native Calendar application even though the default calendar application has been set to other application (Pocket Informant, Pocket Agenda, ect).
3. O2 Filler - The filler has problem calculating the free space left with certain today plugins like the native Calendar plugin and Spb Mobile Shell (with auto-hide enabled).
4. O2 Connect - It has only 3 items. Support, Collection Points and News. Where's the updates, tips and ect as stated in www.seeo2.com? The O2 Connect at the site is also worthless. The service is far worse than the O2 Connect service for O2 Xda II mini. Further more, the News item has problem. After refreshing it, about 80% of the time, the content is corrupted. Can only see the first news followed by damaged text display. Anyway, the today plugin can display the news correctly.
5. Camera Templates (Photo Frame mode) - The template is placed in the hidden partition of the rom and users are stuck with only 5 templates. Unlike O2 Xda II mini, users can place additional templates in the My Documents\Templates folder and they are automatically accessible in the camera. Upon contacting O2 support, they asked me to look for 3rd party software to solve it.
6. Notification Queue - The WLMSchedule has mutiple duplication. Need to remove them or the duplicated events will grow in number over time. Again, this is more to Microsoft but as stated above, O2 should have known about it.
I have experienced the same problem but the most irritating for me is the problem with Video calling. How I wish the 1G ROM can share memory with the exhausted RAM like before with Windows 2003.

Prob 1:
After several phone conversation with O2, it is decided that O2 can't do anything with this. The 10mb start-up requirement for VTCall is for performance sake (used for buffer). O2 confirmed that they are aware that Atom Life does not have enough main memory after (extensive use) before it is released to the market.
From my point of view, the designers should be sacked. If they knew about it, why not just increase the main memory to 128mb? Sigh, too many fools working at O2.

1. I don't know why but I consistently get 12-15MB of free RAM. Like right now, I have 16MB. I can only seem to get less than 10MB when I play Windows Media Player in the background.
2. I use transcriber and I agree that it's quite slow but compared to the old way of writing on my Palm then it's like light speed.
Now the other part
1 and 6. I don't blame a device (or the maker) for Microsoft bugs. I mean seriously, look how many people go out to get Vista even though it's full of bugs. I got my Atom Life with WM6 and never even touched Windows Live (and don't understand what you mean by WLMSchedule <-- ignorance is bliss ). If I don't like a built-in function, I'll try to get 3rd-party stuff for it or not use it at all.
2. I use SPB Diary and it works with Pocket Informant.
3. After a long process of finding out what is "O2 Filler", I finally figure out what it is. I don't install O2 Themes so it doesn't show up and my SPB Diary is pretty good at calculating the correct space.
4. You actually installed O2 Connect? I heard it was responsible for the random turning on of Wifi so I did not even install it. Got this after intensive research on internet.
5. Ok, this is a problem and the O2 people should do something about it.
So ya, I still blame the O2 people for not getting more RAM (more RAM is always better) and the terrible quality of their softwares. But overall, I love my Atom Life. Just wanna provide a more balanced viewpoint for those interested in buying the Atom Life.
Part 1: It's O2 fault as the VTCall application is choosen by O2 for video call.
Part 2: If you have used Magician before (O2 Xda II mini), you'll be amazed that the old device outperform O2 Atom Live. When you scribe on it, it feels like you are using a real pen.
Part 3 & 4: Heh he, I don't use it actually... just pointing out that O2 are not planning very well with the applications they are providing
Part 5: The great part is, the O2 support ask me to buy a 3rd part application for it... like it does exists. Made me think that the support team is stupid or living in a remote area somewhere in.... dunno where.
Part 6: You can disable the damn WM Live thing using Memmaid... but since I'm using Messenger and Hotmail... sigh...
I have had my Atom Life for about 3 months now. I upgraded it to the latest WM6 ROM found on the O2 web site. My previous device was an I-Mate Jam.
I don't use a lot of the advanced features in the Atom Life, because of my current Telco provider (T-Mobile USA). So, I'm only using Edge, not 3G or 3.5G. I'm also not using VTCall or the FM radio. I do use WiFi and this seems to work well, although not as convenient as being on a PC. I do use Skype on occasion (under WiFi) and that has worked well too. I have a stereo blutooth earphone by Motorola that works great. I'm checking email (POP3) and going to the Internet, no problem. I bought Spb Mobile Shell for launching application and that's probably the smartest buy I've ever made for my device. I almost never use the stylus for most standard operations, thanks to this great application. I also use Microsoft Voice Command. With this, no need to ever look at your screen or fumble with searching for contacts: making phone calls and launching applications are a cinch. I also have a bunch of other applications (various databases, MetrO, PDF reader), all working flawlessly. The camera is adequate. It's never going to replace a real camera, but for quick shots it's actually pretty decent. I don't use my PDA as a major input device. Therefore, I mostly use the build-in keyboard for typing things in and that's fine for me. I do travel extensively overseas and the Atom Life has worked flawlessly on any network it's been connected to.
The only major issue I have with the Atom Life. It doesn't notify me when I have a voicemail waiting for me. Technical support was useless. They basically told me: "sorry, we don't support the Atom Life in the US". I do get notification for missed calls and SMS, but not for voicemail. I have searched the Internet every which way and found no solution, except for a recommendation to change my Radio ROM (I have no clue on how to do this and I don't want to brick my phone). If anyone has any ideas on how to solve this problem, let me know. I will be forever grateful!!
Otherwise, I am fairly pleased with the Atom life, as you may have guessed.

Hi all, new here. My MDA Compact lll takes quite some time to get a fix on satellites. It usually takes a couple of minutes or so in my car. Someone on another forum said he upgraded to the Dopod Rom and it made a huge difference in how fast he gets a lock on. I'm using tomtom navigator 6. I don't know anything about dopod rom, what version or how to install it, can someone fill me in please? My MDA is using WM5. Thanks in advance!
Are you using QuickGPS? As the name of this program kinda gives away what it does,so using it will greatly reduce the seek times in finding satellites. Basically it downloads a small file which has the location of satellites valid for the next 3 days or so, so that when TomTom (or any other GPS app) opens it already has a better idea where abouts in the sky to look.
I'd imagine the other person is using that regularly, it can be configured to automatically download the file and can do it when connected to a pc via ActiveSync which is the best way I think. (No GPRS charges incurred this way)
Thanks mark. I've already been using quick gps, ( I have unlimited internet access via my mobile service provider ) but it doesn't make much if any difference. Still curious as to whether this dopod rom will help, and/or, if a hard reset would make any difference. Having said that, I've only had the compact 3 for a few weeks so not sure a hard reset would be necessary.
Anyone else got some advice? I'm just trying to find out how to speed up my gps, whether it's just a hard reset needed or a new rom.
I had the same.
With my original ROM (T-Mobile NL) it took like 1 minute average to get a fix and even then it was only 3 sats.
With the Dopod ROM (WWE) it takes about 30 secs average and i get like 6 sats right away.
Didn't check what makes the differents though, my guess is that it's probably just the updated QuickGPS which you may also find as a seperate .cab to install in WM5.
For updating to WM6 there are a lot of posts already, try looking for the complete idiot's guide post.
Hi there, I just bought an x7501 from USA to use in Australia. I have TomTom manually installed with Aussie maps, and I used the guides on this forum to choose the GPS adaptor/port settings and it finds it but never locks onto a signal, ewer. any ideas why?
Also I've noticed when copying files to the microdrive or SD card thru windows explorer it failed 3 times to SD and once to microdrive. After all times the device existed it windows (Mobile Device) but had nothing in it - all folders/mountpoints had dissapeared..
One last thing, I just stuck TCPMP on it, which loads and responds fine, but movies run at full sound speed but 1 frame every 10-15 seconds... any idea why? 624mhz should be plenty.. is there some option i need to change?
otherwise im having lots of fun with this beast of a phone

Update: For TCPMP simply go to Options --> Video Driver --> "ATI IMAGEON" (**NOT** the default "ATI IMAGEON Decoder")

I'm not using Tom Tom but a program called Destinator. The only thing I did within Destinator was to set the Port to 4 and the speed to 9600. Everything came up just fine, the same as it had on my Dell Axim x50v just a few months before.
Of course, Maybe you are in the wrong hemisphere? <g>

Okay i thought because the reception in my room was so bad that maybe i couldnt get a lock on.. i went outside and i still get no valid signal but some bars moved and some numbers showed up so that is good.. had to stop testing because it's bird mating season and i was getting swooped.. not goot with a $1000 phone in hand.. will try later hiding in my car..
