Wifi Registry Tricks - Networking

Hi.
Can somebody please help me . i wana know the registry tricks for pocket pc wifi my friend has a n80 nokia phone and his phone wifi power is very beter than my htc UNIVERSAL .helpppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Mmmm, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm almost sure that our universals are not good performers for WiFi nor Bluetooth, for sensivity my old Ipaq 6340 was way better.
I'm "working" on something for this, but I won't say anything, I've made too many promises in this forum, so I have some work to do before the next promise.
In the mean time, I would also be interested in some good tweekings for WiFi and BT, better if they are from hardware side, but software would be "easier", if it works...

ok thanks.plz share us the info. i have many problems with wifi transmit power

Ok.. I NEEED this device!
But before I spend a heap of money on it, I'd like to know a few things;
When in vibration mode; is there any difference in the vibration of SMS or Ringing?
Does BT handsfrees work well with the device?
Can you use "Universal TV remote" programs?
Does it support WPA on WLAN?
How is the signal compared to a standard SE/Nokia/Motorola phone?

dont have any answers but signal could be
both
2G (gsm) signal
2½G (edge) signal
3g (utms) signal
My bad
Sorry, I was referring to reception quality.
I feel that my Himalaya is worse than a "normal" phone..
and so were I
and i feel it likely that it could very well depend on what type of network you were on
gsm, edge or utms

SMS is a short buzz where as ringing is several long buzzes.
Does BT handsfrees work well with the device?
It seems to. No problems with my BT800 although it still doesn't push the phonebook entry name to the headset, just the number. Can't believe that HTC still haven't fixed this.
Can you use "Universal TV remote" programs?
Don't see any reason why not. I haven't tried but it supports consumer IR just like the BA
Does it support WPA on WLAN?
Not sure. I don't think so. Someone else will have to answe this

Seems to be as good as my SE Z1010 and my SPV C500. No complaints from me anyway
It does support WPA with a Pre-Shared Key. I simply turned on Wi-Fi, the Jasjar found my AP, prompted me for my key - I entered it and was connected. All of this happened in less than 30 seconds! Wi-Fi seems to be significantly improved compared to the BlueAngel I was using before.

YES!!!
The Himalaya just has a looooooong buzz for any "Beep" or what ever sound the device would usually make..
As for BT handsfree; the Himalaya running WM5 was usable..
Couldn't initiate calls with the HF, but accepting was possible.
Quality and stability was allso ok.
With WM2003SE, it was LOUSY!
So if you can use the BT8080, it's probably just fine..
The IR on the Himalaya was non-standard, but the BA was ok..
Now I only have one problem:
I WANT THE DEVICE EVEN MORE!!!
But they won't arrive in Norway untill medio December..
Dangaard (supplier) has "Unconfirmed 20.12.2005"
Infrared
I installed a couple of universal remotes, some are better than others. Regardless, the signal to the tv/vcr/xbox is perfect, not like the other imates I’ve had.

What's the range that you get on average? I haven't seen any indications that it really supports 'consumer Infrared', instead of modulating a CIR signal onto a FIR bearer...
"The IR on the Himalaya was non-standard, but the BA was ok.. "
but noviiremote worked just fine on himalaya

?!?!?!
Why didn't any one inform me of this?
I tried SEVEN different IR applications on my Himalaya..
NONE worked!
Oh well.. The Himalaya doesn't have the best range anyway, right?
nop on a good day i could get it working on 2½m but i sure had to aim alot
not sure why you were not informed it was up a few times

Worth Buying A hermes(Vario II) Now ? or wait for Kaiser ?

Hi,
What u guys recommend is it too late now ?...When it's Successor Kaiser will be out ?...Keem reply coming..
Thanks in advance Cheers mates

depends on what you will be using it for really, if you want a stable bluetooth connection for a car kit and you dont want to be rebooting the phone daily then in my experience i would not buy one. If i new about these problems before i got mine then i definately would not of brought it.
it does have a whole host of features though so i suppose you cannot have everything.
If they sort these problems out which i keep hearing they will then the phone will be worth having.
I will now go and see what the Kaiser has to offer as might be time to switch already from this rubbish. (Annoyed as you can tell and only my opinion, due to the fact that car kit works fine on my wizard and no rebooting of phone. This one does not work correctly with car kit, people cannot hear me speak, and phone has to be rebooted 2-3 times a day, and yes the phone has been replaced and it is the same problems.)
zomig
there is nothing wrong with my car kit as my wizard (o2 xda mini s ) works 100% with it, this is an issue with the Bluetooth stack on this device and has been mentioned more times than i care to remember.
It quite simply does not work. It is also supposed to be fixed when they eventually release a new rom. But i wont hold my breath.
If you really need the keyboard, then, the Hermes might prove OK (albeit, if I were you, I'd REALLY wait!). If you don't need it, wait or get he Trinity - the latter is much better IMHO than the Hermes (built-in GPS and, hopefully, FM radio).
Strange My new Hermes works better with my Bluetooth Headset than my wizard did. Sound is clearer and louder. and on my wizard when I would answer a call the caller would get a earsplitting screech as I pres the answer button. This is not a prob with the TYTN

Thanks u all guys .....really appreciate it
I don't care abt Bt Problem will have a look on trinity does t-mobile rlease trinity ?

Does anyone have a working fix for this?

Hey guys - this may be already dealt with, but I can't seem to find a workaround anywhere that flies, so please either furnish me with an answer, or direct me elsewhere if it's already been covered and I've been too damn dumb to see it.
Long story short, I'm really itching to play a few games on this phone - I own two MDA Touch Plus' and an MDA Touch (UK T-Mob) (or two Niki's and an Elf, if you prefer), and would love to know if anyone's managed a successful BT network between these PDAphones without resorting to additional hardware or connecting to a PC also?
I'm not interested in ICS etc via BT, simply being able to connect the phones for multiplayer games (Warfare Inc is high on the list ).
I've tried the wm6btpan.exe fix, and have had no luck with, and can't seem to find any reference to a widcomm hack for niki or other resolution.
Damn HTC for taking the WiFi out of the Elf > Niki, life would be so much easier if both were still there...HSDPA or no, don't they realise WiFi was more than just internet access - especially with the crappy m$btstack removing bluetooth as a usable alternative?
Anyhoo, I digress.
Ideally, I don't want to resort to cooked ROMs, ar anything too harsh, as my phones are all still within warranty (and even working for t-mob I can't afford to replace em all if they brick), but would love to hear if anyones got this working at all?
My multiplayer withdrawal is becoming unbearable!!!!
HELP PLEASE!

Bluetooth Error

Hi everyone! I wanna congratulate you xda developers for your excelente work in this world of the PDA. Sorry if my english is not right in some cases, in from Venezuela and it is hard to practice english with other thing that isn't the directv or movies
I buy a Hermes sometime ago and everything was ok, but last week the bluetooth stop working, it wasn't go on. Y some cases said Bluetooth Hardware Error. That scare me out. I can said that I take care of my phone like it was my child.. and sometimes better than my child it is sad but true.
I want to know if there is something I can do because that device have no guarantee here in my country and for politic reasons I can't easily send this device to USA for technical asistance.. so, I have to do it myself.
I have seen this links:
- http://inuchanbt.blog54.fc2.com/blog-entry-100.html
But I don't know exactly where is the bluetooth antenna on the hermes so a have not open it because I will be driving blind.. For and start, can anyone tell me exactly were is the bluetooth antenna on the hermes??
I apreciate your help, and I hope that the bluetooth isn't bad, I think that find a new bluetooth antenna for this device is like try to find a PENTIUM MMX new and unboxed!
Thanks for your help!

GPS stopped working (HTC HD Mini) - It has always worked, but now is dead - HEEELP!!!

Dear friends,
I was so happy with my HTC HD Mini, running WinMo 6.5, with the HTC touchflo interface...
Capacitive touch screen, nice cpu, good memory, so sensitive, small and great...the most perfect cell phone i ever had...and i had all the windows mobile devices, since "cassiopeia", before the first Windows Mobile 2003 devices...yes, i had all microsoft mobile OS's...
I was so happy with everything that my small gadget gave to me...I used the GPS lots of times...it help on lots of travels...allways worked very well, sincronizing very quick with the satelites...
But few days ago, i tried to activate the GPS (i'm using iGo since i bought the phone) and....nothing happened...The GPS just don't work...don't find any satellite...
While the device is search available satellites, it show the busy satellites as red dots, and the available as yellow dots...as soon as it finds enough satellites, the gps trace the route and lead me through the way...
But few days ago i tried to use my GPS and nothing happened...the device just don't search anything...looks like the GPS receiver is broken...i don't know what happened...Maybe it felt down on the floor and break the GPS receiving antenna?
Does anyone here already had the same issue?
I'm desperate! It is my baby, my beloved phone, my third hand...
Does anyone can help me? Please? I'm almost begging!
I already tried the hard reset twice...nothing happened...i'm so sad............................
Thanks i advance,
Claudio Brito

Hi!
Have you tried android in the meantime? If GPS is deactivated in android it will also not work in windows mobile. At least that was the case for older android releases.
My Dear,
My phone is originally windows mobile, and i luv it...I really don't like android...by the way, it drains battery and make the phone slow (my friend have an HTC Aria, the same HTC HD Mini but using Android, and it sucks...mine is much faster...mine never crashes, never get slow...everything is fast all the time...thats why i like it so much...the first problem was that, about the GPS).
But, seppe82, thanks anyway...
I think my problem is a physical problem...maybe when felt down on ground the gps receiver disconnected...i don't know...
Does anyone had that problem in the past?
Damn...my phone used to be so perfect, and now i'm completely desapointed...
Does anyone sugest anything?
thanks
If it is a physical problem and you didn't use android on your phone I don't know the solution unfortunately. I just remember that somebody reconnected his gps antenna but I can't remember how he did it and whether it was mentioned in this forum or not.
Now I've found that topic and I see you already posted there. I hope there you get help. By the way: I also prefer wm over android on hd mini, since I'm not so keen in games and other apps but on a fast reliable OS
Good luck!

Thanks seppe82,
I really luv my WM6.5 HTC HD Mini...is the first problem i have, and the first bad thing i ever said about this phone...
It is still the best phone i ever saw and ever had.
There are faster WM6.5 and WP7 phones, but none is so fast AND SMALL...
I can use my Mini with only 1 hand...and can drive and navigate...the size is perfect...
My sister has an HTC Ultimate...is a beaultiful and top phone, but it's oversized...My hands looks small when i'm holding it...for her, as a women, she carries on her handbag, and it's no problem, but for me, that carries on the pants pocket , is too big.
I still believe that, someday, some company will launch a better phone with maximum 3.5" display (I heard about the Nokia Lumia 800 - first nokia Windows phone - but is too soon to talk about it) ...while it doesnt happens, Mini still the best!
Well...hope somebody can help me...hope somebody knows how to "reconect the gps antenna"...
The video that was posted on the other thread doesnt talk about the gps antenna...it worked for nothing...and the user that mentioned this doesnt answer me...hope he doesnt left the forum forever...
Pleaaaaaaaaaase, sombody help meeeeeeeee...Don't let my Mini die...Pleaaaaase!!!
u will better go to a HTC service or any other phone service instead of whinning here..
this forum is mostly about ROM's and software stuff, not hardware so if you have hardware issues go to the places i mentioned above
