I installed the Toshiba bluetooth stack on my I-Mate Jam and it ROCKS - it includes ALL the functionality/profiles missing in the MS stack!
...BUT...
It is unstable as hell (I have experienced all sort of "cosmetic" issues) and I am fairly sure this is due to the fact that both MS and Toshiba stacks try to use the same bluetooth hardware SIMULTANEOUSLY.
...SO...
has anyone figured how deinstall/reinstall the microsoft bluetooth stack on a Magician (I-Mate Jam, Qtek S-100, MDA Compact, XDA Mini)?

So, what "ROCKS" about it?
Always do full backup b4 installing sware.
it does what the MS BT stack does (serial port, headset, activesync), but also adds other profiles (pan, dun, obex, ftp, chat + others from memory)
i.e send files/chat with other mobile phone users, access bt pan, etc... though i am only interested in pan, chat and obex
when i fisrt played with it, i immediately saw why everyone whinges with the bt stack...
it's excellent and stable for me, didn't expierence any bugs...
dutty:
Did you get pan working ?
If so can you please let me know how?
Thanks,
Martin
I'm kinda interested ...
Can u please post a copy of that Toshiba Bluetooth stack u're using so we can all have a chance to have a look at it and maybe modify it to work on our phones
uh, just started the service, restarted the device and connected to it!
BUT, i also installed the toshiba BT stack on my workstation
I'm kinda interested ...

And just more thing ... How did u manage to get that bluetooth stack to run on xda devices since it keeps checking for external SD bluetooth cards and was not designed for internal bluetooth chips ?
Look in this thread:

Thanks for the link ....... BUT !!
I was able to download the Toshiba BT Stack v5.01 but it won't seem to work on my xda !! Everytime I tap on Bluetooth Setting (from toshiba) It says the following ' An error occurred with the Bluetooth Card. Confirm that the card is working properly.
Both my MS Stack and Widcomm Stacks are disabled and don't conflict with this new Toshiba Stack.
I was wondering how the thread owner got this BT stack running on his xda ?
It works on my XDA Mini just fine. The only problem I'm having is that it won't stay resident when you power off the device.

Thanks again

Hi
i´ve tested the toshiba bt software on my MDA-Compact but haven´t got very good results. First, after installation, it seems to work good with my Royaltek RBT 3000 (GPS), but after i´ve switched off the device while an active bt connection was established with my gps software, the bt-stack broks down and the whole systems seems to be unstable. Even after a softreset the bt-software from toshiba says that they didnt recognize any bt hardware.
Now i am trying to deinstall the bt-soft and can recommend everybody who wants to test to make an backup before ;-)
I think that the software from toshiba could work, when the ms-bt-stack would be completly changed with the toshiba-stack, but doesnt work without problems when both bt-stacks are on the system.

hi, I'm trying to develop an app wich uses SPP, i'm on an Acer n50 handheld running WinCE 4.21 with the Widcomm-Broadcomm stack 1.5.0 build 3601, what i want to do is unload the Widcomm stack and use the MS stack, my guess is that since the Widcomm stack is just a device driver it can be unloaded, at least for the time my app runs and then reload the widcomm stack, so my question is : is this even possible to be done?, if so what kind of tools would i need to accomplish this daunting task
thanks!

not sure but i suspect that the ms bluetooth stack is absent in roms made with the other bluetooth stacks
havent heard about anybody going from 1 stack back to ms bs
ROMs with BT stack don't contain most of core DLLs from MS BT stack. You can use PlatformBuilder and compile the missing DLLs yourself, edit the registry, etc. But this does not worth the effort. Widcomm stack is better and more stable than MS.
And you cannot dynamically unload one BT-driver and then reload the other one without the softreset.
:?: :?: :?: Why would anybody want the MS stack in favor of the Widcomm :?: :?:
MS stack has one advantage over Widcomm - its programming is done through windows sockets and you don't need to pay 1000$ for SDK.
Hello,
I know It may have been asked before,But i searching a lot and I couldnt find any thread which is mentioning that a BT stack Widcomm is available for mini with PAN support. What I could find was just Bluesoleil stack which is an evaluation version
no replies for long time. Nobody knows? :?:
No, the Widcomm stack isn't running on the Magician. The PAN profile is only supported by the Toshiba and Bluesoleil stack, which are working together with the Magician. The extension of the MS stack which you can find in another thread doesn't provide the PAN profile.
Hi,
I bought a Dopod 818 Pro and happily loaded the drivers for my Think Outside BT Keyboard. Unfortunately the BT Keyboard on the Prophet tells me :
Bluetooth system not detected.
Current version of the keyboard/mouse driver supports the following Bluetooth stacks
Widcomm BTW CE 1.4.x - 1.5.x
Drakar (Socket) 6.x.x
Microsoft
Does anyone have an idea on how I can get this to work? Think Outside is very slow to update their software / drivers. One option seems to me to load either the Widcomm or the Drakar stack. Any one tried something like this?
Thanks & Best Regards
Of course Prophet running WM5 and has Microsoft Bluetooth stacks. I think the version is 2.0. Is newer then before. No way to use other Blue tooth stacks on Pocket PC.
the BT stack onthe prophet is total garbage, only supports 2 services.. the older widcom stack for the 2K3 pdas have like 14 services

Same Microsoft s#%t as on Windows XP. My Sony Vaio comes with MS stack, and ....it supports only 2 services. So I have built-in BT, but can use it only for a BT mouse or modem.
does anyone know how to upgrade Atom bluetooth stack with non-default microsoft things, like widcomm maybe. i have searched other forum but nothings really works on my Atom, i need the other bluetooth services on my Atom
(i use jiggs wm6 rom)
thx
