MMS Lite for X01HT - No Setup Required - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

This morning a Japanese programmer posted a beta version of MMS Lite for X01HT. It is a no-setup require cab that gets MMS working perfectly.
http://www.wince.ne.jp/frame.asp?/soft2002/detail.asp?PID=4022
Limitation are as follows.
Notes:
・The beta software will expire on 3/1.
・ActiveSync will temporarily disable sending and receiving.
・You cannot send to pure phone number address although you can receive.
・You cannot send or see softbank specific smilies.
Other notes:
・OMA MMS Version 1.3 / WAP-230-WSP Version5 used to Encode and Decode. (DRM not supported)
・SMIL Presentations not supported (SMIL will be left as an attachment)
I've tried it and it works absolutely perfectly so far.
Enjoy this one guys.

Great! Thanks for the link.

wow, almost perfect. I wonder what Softbank is saying about that. I found one little bug: As already mentioned, MMS Lite is suspended during Active Sync. But after stopping ActiceSync and disconneting the USB cable, it does not re-start: The MMS1 account is gone. After a soft re-set it's visible again.

Just wait a second and the MMS account comes back.

I'm not sure I understand what you ask for. Of course you have to subscribe to Softbank's MMS service ("S!Mail") first, it's just 300 Yen per month.
They have released a new version of MMS Lite:
MMS Lite 1.0 for X01HT Beta Build 194(4022)
http://www011.upp.so-net.ne.jp/genocide/MMSLite.ARMV4I_bld194.CAB

no setup?!?

Setup MMS in flashed SoftBank X01HT

Hello,
I bought and flashed to English (rom JASJAM_WWE_1.20.305.3_1.20.305.104_1.07.03.10_ship with Softbank Extended ROM) one X01HT. I'm getting crazy trying to make MMS work in my phone. Can anybody put one tutorial of how to do it?
Two more things:
-I have the "old" Vodafone Mail Flat Rate in my keitai, and it's quite important for me to keep it.
-If somebody have working the threaded MMS Palm app and can explain how to setup it, better.
Thanks!
Sesaru
Please!! Somebody could make work Palm SMS Threaded app in a X01HT? At least, let me know if it possible!!
I tryed this:
1. go to connection in control panel
2. add a new modem connection under "default company network setting" (not under "default internet setting")
3. name the new connection as you like, and choose 3g as connection type
4. set it up as follows
apn: mailwebservice.vodafone.ne.jp
user id: vodafonelive
passwd: q_c_e_f_f_k_n_a_r_l_u_r_q_g_b_l (without the _)
leave domain blank
5. OK to finish
6. go back to connection in control panel
7. change the name of this new company network as "VFJP Network"
Install Palm MMS Threaded (I don't know if it's beta4; can somebody send to me??) and setup like this:
Message center number: +819066519300
Email center number: empty
MMS gateway adress: vfkkmmsproxy.vodafone.ne.jp:8080
MMS URL: http://mms/
Network Profile: VFJP Network
Please, help me!!!

With old ROM(before Dec 2nd) of X01HT, no success was reported on 2ch(Japanese BBS), AFAIK.
With DoCoMo hTcZ ROM, some success was reported in Japan.
With newer ROM of X01HT, I and some poeple in Japan succeeded to install Palm SMS app.
Maybe, old ExtROM of Softbank prevented Palm SMS app to work correctly.
FYI:
I uninstalled Palm SMS. It's not good for me.
It doesn't disconnect after send & receive mail.
It doesn't inform me when mail receives.
When I open some mail, the app closes unexpectedly.
Now, I'm happy with Arcsoft MMS client & MMS Resender

With Palm Messaging beta4, yes.
But, it wasn't correct. I'm sorry.
It doesn't disconnect after send & receive mail.
It shows pop-up message, but, no LED, no sound when mail receives.

Hello,
I install last ROM from HERMES (RUU_HERMES_HTC_WWE_1[1].35.255.2_1.35.255.102_1.08.00.10_SHIP) and didn't change Extended ROM to the SoftBank one, so I had the MMS Client installed by default.
I got the "Decode Error" almost everytime I receive a message that is not pure text, so I install MMS Resender ... but it didn't solve anything, I thing. Anytime I got the "Decode Error", nothing happens ... I don't know If I have to setup something or similar.
Help!! Is any way there to fix this? WHY I can't receive MMS messages with this mobile and Softbank?
Thanks
Sesaru

There is a sticky at the top of the page to report issues with the XDA Live ROM have you posted this message there? The guys that worked on the ROM may only look at that thread for issues??
Re: MMS capability after rom flash
After several research attempts, I am unable to find a solution ot my current issue.
I used the flash rom to unlock sim and aside from the keyboard layout being changed (which I found the fix for and will try later tonight), I lost mms functionality.
There is no mms folder in the messaging application. There is no mms settings page, no mms anything at all.
I have not noticed anyone else having this problem.
Any ideas?
Thank you all very much in advance.

I was able to get it working by installing a cab file called arcsoft composer Z ( u can find somewhere in the posts) but when i installed that my text messaging stop working! so once i uninstalled the composer Z software my text started working again and i found my mms setting were available for editing... its just happened to work out like that i guess....

Telus and MMS... It can be done!!... sorta

well, as the title implies, I have managed to get some of the mms features working on a telus titan phone
NOTE: as of yet I haven't been able to receive picture messages, but I can send them.
here's how I did it:
1. download then install the attached cab
2. under options -> advanced, then click the manual button and enter the following settings:
MMS Gateway: http://216.198.139.113
MMS URL: http://mmsfeplb01.int.eng.telusmobility.com:8088/mms
select which ever network profile you use for internet
and VOILA!!! half of the problem is solved... now if only someone could figure out how to receive them we'd be set, but I suspect that telus employs some means of the message being redireccted to their horrible online app to view the photos... which at present time, isn't displaying photos and they expire without me seeing them... good old telus, giving users the cutting edge while cutting out user support and features.
P.S. not too bad for my second post on these forums eh?

haven't been able to duplicate the results on arcsoft... I'm new to this whole MMS thing, is there anyway to run a trace and see how this program is doing what is does?
Well as you said it does work for sending, the receiving portion however, I don't believe you will be able to do it since TELUS' MMSC server is programmed not to forward MMS' to phones that have a specific user profile such as the P4000, instead is supposed to send you a net alert and have the pictures forwarded to telusmobility.com/snap.
Unless you somehow get someon to modify your user profile in the MMSC provisioning, there should be no carrier settings or registry tweaks that could help you out, unlike other carriers.
However, why don't you just log into telusmobility.com/snap, go to preferences and set it to forward a copy to your e-mail address. I assume you use e-mail on your p4000 and this will achieve relatively the same thing...
While we are at it, although it is much more convenient to naturaly MMS someone with ther telephone number, you could just e-mail them a picture to their phone, thus using your data plan and not having to pay 25 cents per picture message...
mms email address for telus phones: [email protected]
this should send it straight to a regular phone's wap browser and you just need to get the corresponding email address for Rogers, Bell and Fido

I've recently discovered that the e-mail forwarding function only works when receiving MMS sent from a Telus phone. MMS sent from other networks cannot be decrypted correctly so they're not forwarded to the specified email address.
The "save to album" also doesn't do anything. I've checked my photo album at https://photoalbum.telusmobility.com/index.asp . It looks like the site is still under construction or maybe it's just plain crappy. Nothing was saved there from my photo messages.
All and all, I'm very disappointed in Telus in handling (blocking) MMS. I'm searching for a working SMS2Email (or MMS2Email) services now. This way the person sending you the MMS can send it to your email instead. If anyone knows one that works in Canada, Please let me know. I really need to receive MMS somehow, and not on the crappy Telus Snap site (seriously, are they kidding?!?!?!).
Sorry to bump an old thread
This worked great for sending, but has anybody figured out a way to recieve yet?
I just installed it, used the telus server settings as described, but all mms keep getting rejected by server. I definitely double-checked the addys... anyone else follow these instucs with no joy?

Because Snap doesn't work right. Never has. When the wife and I first got the HTC S720, a Telus tech tried to get her going on Snap... even pics HE sent to it never showed up. With mine, maybe 30% of pictures sent to me ever arrive at Snap, let alone get forwarded on.
Furthermore, viewing in Snap itself has always been an exercise in futility. The password is about 2,000 characters long; the only way to effectively enter it is cut-and-paste. The only way to get it is to have the server email it to you, and the last time I did that (after I flashed my phone and lost the password), the password *never* arrived. I requested it four times, and never got a response.
And IF you do get a long, the pictures you get there are tiny. My wife ended up returning the S720 and getting a KRZR, so she could do MMS properly... she sent me 1.3MP pictures that only ever showed up as QVGA on the Snap site.

I've tried this with Rogers and Fido phones... the recipient gets a text message from my phone's email address, containing a string with the picture's filename, but not the actual picture.
Frankly, Telus's implentation of this is uttery broken and always has been. I've heard a dozen different "explanations" of why MMS won't work on their phones, and every one of them rings as bull$#!t. The most common one for them to give is simply that "no PDA-type phones support it", which I shoot down immediately with the fact that my Rogers Treo does it just fine.
When my wife's contract is up in another 16 months or so, I know she's planning to jump to Rogers so she can get a Blackberry and still do her picture messaging. Telus will lose a 20-year customer if they don't fix this issue; they will have NO chance of keeping her if they don't get MMS working. My contract will be up a year after that, and I won't be far behind her.
Hate to bother, but where is this "options" to put in the information. How do you get to it from the today screen?
Okay, trying this... but I get a "Not enough memory to complete this operation" message when I try to send even the smallest picture. I'm showing 51MB free RAM and 8.8MB free device storage memory...

Look for a new "SMS" icon in your Programs... launch that, click Menu on the right softkey, then Options... go to Advanced tab.
There must be more info required there... maybe the OP could share his settings for Message Center and Email Center numbers?
HOLY CRAP, IT WORKS!!!!
Well, partly... like the OP, I can send, but not receive (yet). The Palm app doesn't want to run on my Omnia (I get the "out of memory" error), but an older Arcsoft install (PPCGeeksSprintMMS) does.
I followed the time-honored hack for that one to enable the server editing (HKLM\Software\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\UI\EnableServerEdit -> change 0 to 1), then plugged the OP's server settings into the config:
MMS -> Menu -> MMS Configuration -> Servers -> tap the server name to edit -> enter full Gateway and Server Address entries listed above, Connect via: The Internet, WAP: WAP 2.0 (Port will change to 80).
Now, Arcsoft, at least this version of it, is pretty clunky and doesn't integrate quite as nicely as the Palm app - the Palm one actually re-retrieved the last couple weeks' worth of incoming SMS messages as well(!!). This one keeps a separate inbox that so far is extraneous.
Update: okay, it worked... like, TWICE. I tried replacing the clunky ancient version of Arcsoft with a newer version and I haven't been able to get it to go since. I've even done a hard-reset and reinstalled it all clean... went through a bout of not being able to remove the WM6_threaded app as well.
If the OP is still reading this... could you maybe post your related registry keys? Thinking there must be some other string that I need, something that's either incorrect or missing... *sigh*
So near, yet so far away...

I am on T-Mobile, have used a half dozen different ROMS and have no problems with my MMS.
Your TMobile Data needs to be set on epc.tmobile.com
Then go to the SMS tab, all messages, menu MMS Options. Go to TMobile MMS Server, the server address needs to be as follows: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
Then select Connect via: T-Mobile Data
I have yet to have a problem sending a MMS using this.
try this one.
had tons of problems too, with custom roms. this cab fixed all of them. install after the auto sim configuration sets to tmobile. credit goes to the ChrisGrundy, maker of the timor tmobile 6.5 rom. also sets send recieve limits to 1000k, per current tmo limits.
(hopefully this isnt the same cab you already tried...)
edit:seems to only work with standard messaging program, previous post worked for me with manilla messaging app, but have to manually increase send/recieve size limit.
Thank you for that but im still not able to download a message or send.. it says that the notification is going to remain in the inbox... I guess i might have to switch roms which really sucks.. i really liked this one lol

The fix posted by benttwig (which I made myself) is supposed to be run after the HTC connection setup wizzard. Also, it's meant for use in the USA T-Mobile network.
Do those conditions apply to you?
I just now tried to run the fix after the connection setup wizard and it still does not work. I am sure im doing it correctly but its just not working for me.. I too have T-Mobile but I may be doing something wrong...

2.1 Sense is not compatible with any 2.5 Packages, the core design is completely different, and IMO 2.1 sense wasnt completely finished when it came out since it interacted with winmo too much then a stand alone package.

I'd like to see some reviews, myself...
I downloaded 2016 Messaging posted by ThGraf and it adds some new features, but ultimately MMS was either not working or forcing pics to be too small (even with the fix)... If this is fully functional without the issues, I would download, but seeing that it cant be uninstalled it would be a bit of a hassle to test and find out it doesnt work right..

If this is fully functional without the issues, I would download, but seeing that it cant be uninstalled it would be a bit of a hassle to test and find out it doesnt work right..

Well I can tell you that you can send MMS and recieve, as for MMS being small thats due to the fact that all pictures appear in landscape mode even if the picture was taken in Portrait Mode, I enabled in my version the MMS Auto Preview which aides in seeing pictures small.
I dont know what features ThGraf has added, but mine is for the most part is how it was meant to be with certain features re-enabled.
The reason for it not being uninstallible is due to the fact that its replacing files that are in use, and it does not uninstall correctly, and instead of messing up someones phone I chose this route, that is why I suggest backing up the phone. If you back the whole phone up, I dont see why you wouldnt be able to get it back to how you had it.
But I too would like to see some feedback. I am currently trying to find where the speed of loading sms txt msgs are, and I might have narrowed down where its located, but need some further help in that to see if I am right.
Installs well, unlike 1.8 also available, simultaneous data + phone is success.
However, 4kb-5kb max file size of received MMS is troubling still.

I just sent a picture from my fuze to my TP2 and the picture came in at 230K to the tp2 and since I have auto rotate preview added, the picture is full screen (The picture was taken in portrait mode) in portrait mode, but obviously much smaller. I would say check your MMS server settings under menu/settings/options/menu/mms serverat the bottom is the msg limit, change that to what your service provider allows (ATT is 600K). if that doesnt work, then I have to look and see if I might have changed something, but I doubt it. I know thats for sending size limit, but it seems TP2 has some sort of compression setting that the camera is set to and doesnt allow you to change it, I know where it is, but wont keep the value I change it to.
New Package Added! NOT a CAB
