front camera question - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

can i use the front camera on my t mobile mda vario II without any 3G connection as i was in imate jasjar.
if yes then how?

I've been wondering about the front camera for a while. Surely it should be possible to use this, in conjunction with the screen, for a variety of useful features? To start with, it could function as a low res mirror...
Is there any software which can access it yet?

Qtek PDA with Phone,Wifi, integrated GPS, would be perfect!

I know people with a pda with GPS receiver built in, like the Yakumo or the Mio168. It's great that you don't have to bother with charging a bluetooth adaptor or getting connection and it's more compact.
http://www.pdashop.nl/product/11712
At the back you have a small metal plate that you can turn up as the gps receiver.
It would be great, an XDAIIi like PDA Phone including an integrated gps receiver and wifi! The receiver is above at the back (where the lens of the xdaIIi is), i would gladly give up the camera with poor quality for this built in receiver. I just downloaded pugs camera rom update with better cam, but nothing compares a real cam with flash. So better off with a built in gps receiver I find.
I wonder if there are any PDA phones like the XDAIIi with wifi & gps receiver integrated yet? Maybe a new future Qtek? Would be great!
This would be the only pda phone wich I would give up my xdaIIi.
Anyone knows this dream pda-phone exists?
Answer
Its coming up!

Wrong answer no GSM integrated!
You've got it wrong mate, it had no GSM
I mean a XDAIIi like with built in GPS.
So PDA+GSM+BUILT IN WIFI+BUILT IN GPS
This one isn't in the range of PDA Phones, it's just a PDA with built in GPS and wifi. My friends have a Mio & Yakumo also just PDA with GPS without phone pity enough. So still no all in one solution.
XDAIIi still comes closest exept for the external GPS receiver.

No Wifi integrated still not satisfied
Yeah but still no wifi included
I worked with SDIO Wifi cards in past on XDAII but don't like them, better everything integrated, more compact & less trouble.
I hope very soon a release of a PDA with GSM GPS WIFI integrated.
They may keep their cams bad quality, never use it.
They I will put my xdaIIi on ebay
What about something like ETEN G500 ?
Don't see wifi specifications ?
Hi,
Thanks for the tip, but no wiifi integrated is not interested for me
Maybe i'll have to wait for the new qtek

Two questions with Dopod 838 Pro

1. In Settings/connections, the comm manager, and wireless manager link to the same application. Is that right? I thought they were two diffferent apps, like on my O2 Atom Exec?
2. Is there any way to use the front facing camera without making a video call?

wanna Buy new TYTN, some questions before buy..

Hi,
Right now I have the HP iPAQ 6828, which runs great... Recently I'm starting thinking about upgrading it to the HTC TYTN..
1) The device I've tested was HTC TYTN s/n HT630 , Hermes200, Is this model has the problem of screen alignment I heard about? any other problems?
2) Is it really faster than the iPAQ 6828 becuase of its Samsung proccessor? like the ETEN M600??
3) Is it stable like HP iPAQ ??
4) How about voice calling, is it loud & clear? ( As I was an ex. user of ETEN M600, it's so important for me)
anything else I should know about this device before buying or exchanging with iPAQ 6828?
What about ROMS, what's the newst ROM out there?
Thanks in advance
I will not be able to help you on your other questions but for Q1 regarding screen alignment ht630 does have screen alignment problems. You can see a thread elsewhere on this forum for more information. You will see a lot of people with ht630 and complaining about screen alignment.
Personally I think that ht641 and above will be safe as yet I have to see a post for these serial numbers complaining of screen alignment

2) I still have my M600 and I just got a 8525. I think the 8525 is just as fast as the M600. Maybe a little faster. It seems to me like the 8525 loads web pages faster over wifi and edge. I know I am getting faster edge bandwith on the 8525. Switching from one app to the next seems to be the same. The stabilty of WinMo 5 seems to be the same.
3) YES! the volume is alot loader than the M600. I installed all of the volume patches on my M600 and it still can't compair to the volume level of the 8525 The speakerphone on this thing is Very Loud!
The only issue I have right now is my a2dp Plantronics 590A wont stay connected to the 8525. I can pair it and listen to music or video but if I turn off the headphones and turn them back on I can't regain connection to the phones stereo output.

Tytn Vs. 8525

what is the difference between them..besides that the 8525 is locked to cingular? someone want to enlighten me on this?
the tytn has a front camera, so it can support video calling.
Actually, I think your mistaken. I have a HTC Tytn, one of my co-workers has the Cingular 8525. They are the same physical unit (the 8525, however, sports the Cingular logo instead of the HTC).
Both have the front camera. The difference? the 8525 is "locked" to the Cingular network, while the Tytn is generally "unlocked".
that's unusual - maybe your friend got a preproduction 8525, because all the retail units don't have the front camera because at the time their network didn't support video calling.
My 8525 has no front camera.
Yeah, the 8525 definitely does not have a front camera.
Yep... no front camera on the 8525. Looking forward to the Kaiser though

Ipaq Rw6828 Cam application change?

Hi there,
I was playing around with the video camera on my Hp ipaq Rw6828 and found it to be...well quite terrible. A mate of mine has the O2 Atom, which is very similar in features, and also has a 2 megapixel camera inbuilt.
The video recording quality is much better in his phone, smoother and at a better resolution it seems. Since my ipaq uses the "Photosmart Camera" application, as opposed to just "Camera" application on the Atom, I was wondering if I could change that to see if it would make a difference?
Both phones are very similar spec wise, and both run Wm5.
Help please?
Thanks very much,
Andrew
