When I try to set the country code of a contact's telephone number in Outlook to say +44, Outlook decides to reformat it to just 44 i.e. no +.
When I transfer contacts over to XDA2 using ActiveSync, this bad reformatting goes with it so I then have to update all numbers by placing a '+' in front of them all. This is particularly annoying with mobile numbers as without the country code, XDA2 won't display text messages as from contacts.
Does anyone know how to turn this poxy reformatting off in Outlook?
Thanks
Hello,
I seem to be having a problem with the built in email client on my XDA Exec. Every so often the built in Outlook Mail Client seems to "loose" my POP 3 account. However when I try to add it back in it tells me that:
"That name is already assigned to another account. Enter a unique name and try again"
Now I could keep adding it back in with a different name each time but that is a pants solution. Any thoughts as to how I can permanently fix this issue?
I have trawled through the registry but cannot find within it the name I used when I created the POP3 account.
[I have also noticed that it seems to loose the registration information for SunnySoft Back up as well!]
Many thanks
Change name POP3 in account configuration step 1 or 2 to another like mail1, mail 2. You have to use different names for settings

if only it was that simple. The original entry is no longer visible! So I cannot change it. And I cannot see it in the registry to delete it either. Any idea where does Pocket Outlook store its config information?
No i don't know
losing email accounts
Did you ever see "No GSM" when soft reset? Then get your machine replaced. Check my postings.
I have a problem. After synchronizing my contacts from Outlook to my SE X1, they don't get recognized anymore. If someone calls me the numbers is shown without spaces however, my outlook synchronized them with a space after the land code (+31 / +32 in my case).
For instance: Person X calls me with the number +31123456789, however in outlook he is shown as +31 123456789; therefore my phone doesn't connect the name to the number resulting in many 'unknown' callers.
How can I solve this problem?
Thank you in advance.
When it syncs your phone's contacts with your gmail contacts, which way does it replace? For example if you have the same contact in your phone and gmail but a different phone number for each, which one will it keep? And if you delete contacts from one but not the other, will it delete them on the other or will it sync them right back as if you never deleted them?
Seems to be quite random, actually.
I had a problem when I disabled sync on my G1 for two weeks, and when I enabled it, all the contacts I added to it during that time got erased.
So, be careful and back up your contacts often (from the google.com/contacts interface).
Supposedly, it merges the contacts. So if you have a new number for a contact on phone, it should update the gmail contact, and vice versa. and since it supports multiple mobile numbers (almost infinite numbers of each kind), there shouldn't be any deletion involved.

So what if someone steals my phone and erases all my contacts, will it see that I've erased them on the phone and in turn erase them from my gmail contacts too? Or will it keep syncing them back onto the phone?
Usually I update/erase phone numbers on the phone itself, whereas I update email address through gmail when I'm checking my email (although sometimes I add them through the phonebook in the phone). I'm curious how the sync application "knows" which one is newer (ie. what happened most recently) - maybe it attaches a hidden timestamp to every piece of a contact?
Has anyone noticed a problem with the address book and contacts that only have a company title? The address book will pull the first and last name from some other contact and fill it into the nameless contact (company title only).
I've tried manually fixing the second company name only contact by deleting the first and last name fields, but the address book just fills it back in again.
It's quite annoying.
